The Jane Eyre - Chorlton in Manchester

One of my absolutely favourite restaurants, the food is amazing, the service is brilliant and they’re dog friendly! A lovely place to celebrate a special occasion or just for a date night. Every dish is a winner, can’t wait to be back soon!

Once again enjoyed our annual Christmas gathering here. The food is the best in Chorlton. Vegan options of a really high standard and the kitchen very accommodating. Stand out dishes for me were the roasted carrots, the crispy potatoes & the hispi cabbage. My sister loved the coley & the bread was a big hit! Chocolate ganache dessert also so tasty and decadent - such an indulgent vegan dessert option. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and attentive. Excellent cocktails and wine list too. Such a safe best for an all round great evening.

Great neighbourhood restaurant. We go regularly for drinks or a bite to eat and it's always excellent. Service is brilliant and the staff very attentive - will always do their best to squeeze you in without a booking as well. Menu changes seasonally and imo the kitchen keeps improving the quality of their offering. Keep up the good work guys!

Came here for coffee on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago. Staff didn’t come across welcoming or accommodating. This was our experience on our first visit here.

I have not been to this restaurant for over a year as last time I went they tried to charge us for 4 cocktails we hadn’t had with no apology from the staff. I booked to come again with some friends to see if things were better and was very disappointed with the food. The chicken was bland, the squid was tough and tasted like it had been fried in old oil and all the dishes were underwhelming and flavourless. The staff and atmosphere were great but unfortunately the food was not. I’ll probably give it a miss again.

Love this place, the decor is so cool with lovely mid century design. Atmosphere is nice and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. Small plates were delicious, although one or two dishes could have been warmer. A little on the spenny side even for Chorlton standards but still an great little spot

Mega Sunday roast, lovely staff, banging tunes.

The Jane Eyre has a charming ambiance that makes you feel at home. However, our visit was marred by significant service issues. After being seated for drinks, we were asked to move to another table within 20 minutes to accommodate restaurant seating. This was particularly challenging for my father, who is disabled and whose needs had already been seen by the staff. Unfortunately, we received no apology for the inconvenience. Once moved, we were informed that our new table had a strict 20-minute time limit, which was frustrating given we had just spent nearly £70 on drinks. Clearer communication about time limits would have been appreciated. Additionally, when my mother briefly stepped away for a phone call, the waitress seemed to misunderstand the situation, suggesting we were leaving without paying. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere. While we didn’t try the food, I believe that with improved customer care and communication, The Jane Eyre can enhance the experience for its patrons.

Went here recently mid-week for the steak night and was absolutely blown away! Crispy whitebait starter was delicious, followed by what can only be described as the best steak I’ve ever had - cooked to perfection! Came with sauce and a drink too, such great value. Staff were so friendly and on the ball, and great atmosphere even on a Wednesday night. We sat out front on the terrace and the heaters kept us toasty all evening. 10/10 recommend - we’ll be back!

I’ve been to the Jane Eyre in chorlton several times now and each time is fantastic. The food and drinks are amazing and the place itself is gorgeous. All the staff are brilliant and so lovely, nothing is ever too much for them. Can’t wait to go back!

Went for an amazing Sunday dinner here last night. I’ve heard a lot of fuss about this place and it certainly lived up to the hype. Great selection of wines and trendy cocktails. Looking forward to trying other small plates they do in the week.

1st Visit , Staff were FANTASTIC and wonderful Atmosphere! sadly though as a constructive criticism i wasn't impressed with the roast's! they were hard and not crispy at all which was disappointing so didn't eat! the chicken starter was lovely and BEST Salted Caramel pudding which was INSANE!! Thank you!

Hands down the best restaurant in Chorlton. The food and drinks are amazing! Make sure you try the ‘1648’ cocktail! My husband and I love a date night here, and we take our kids for pastries and hot chocs on a weekend.

Went for a roast on Sunday. The food took ages and drink orders were all wrong. Poor staff seemed overworked.

Really good food in a very relaxed atmosphere. Beautifully done out. Second time visiting, two of us had 7 plates across the snacks and larger plates. Lovely orange wine recommended by the wait staff. Another lovely evening.

How lovely is this place. From the moment we arrived the staff never rushed tku, were food at telling us what the different food were like. Just so friendly. Dropped in for a dessert and had the chocolate biscuit cake which was good but not “£6.50 good”. At that price I need something serious to happen in the dopamine department. Otherwise a nice experience. Staff were lovely.

Fit us in last minute on a Friday eve (also hottest day of the year, so a quiet one 🤥). Literally everything was impeccable. Staff so lovely and welcoming. Never once felt rushed despite knowing the table was due back and a short turn around. I've been a few times and always the same. However after today thought a review was deserved as it was literally faultless. Go. You won't regret it. Atmosphere is fantastic, service even more so, food is aaaaaaaaamazing. Thanks guys! ♥️

Brilliant night out where we let our amazing waitress order our food and surprise us - highly recommend the Hispi Cabbage, Smacked Cucumber, Coley, Lamb Rump and Chocolate Biscuit Cake

We visited this restaurant last weekend and had a lovely evening. The food, wine, cocktails and service were all very good. There were 4 of us, and we ordered 3 plates each, though on hindsight, 10 plates would have been fine. We were only disappointed in 2 of the dishes, and the rest were delicious. We will definitely very back! NB You must book the restaurant a little in advance to avoid disappointment

Our first visit for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, the staff lovely, and the service was superb. A lovely occasion with our son, which we definitely hope to repeat.

I have been here twice now and both were lovely experiences. Attentive, friendly staff, excellent food with good options on the menu and family friendly. The atmosphere and design is lovely too. Would definitely go back.

I occasionally come in for a drink because I live locally, but today was the first time trying the food. Came in with a book and a quiet pint just to round out the Bank Holiday weekend. The tenderloin was excellent, just the right amount of rosy in the middle, and the hasselback spuds were incredible too with that vibrant salsa. Service was spot-on and staff were very attentive even when groups of people came in and made multiple drinks orders. Great beer selection too. I'll definitely be back!

Lovely little bar. Good selection of wine, service was great- Jonny was particulalry attentive :) Food was tasty, although further vegan options would be fantastic.

An absolutely superb Sunday Roast at The Jane Ayre. Great value and delicious roast Sirloin! Attentive staff and lovely atmosphere! Would definitely be coming back.

Had the best experience here this afternoon for Sunday lunch. Lovely, chilled, attentive staff, and just a great all round vibe. Were very accommodating of my quite large dog which was much appreciated! Sunday set menu is really reasonably priced for the quality, and everything was seriously well cooked and put together. Excellent selection of wines by the glass - has a super tasty vino Verde and a lovely chilled red which was perfect in the Manchester sunshine. Hard recommend from me!

I’m a bit biased so probably don’t take any notice of this review …. But we’ve been coming here and to Ancoats since the brothers opened and the quality of the dishes , the drinks and the warm welcome has stayed consistently good. Love this place

Great food and cocktails especially the Kir Royale

Ordered a cocktail for £12. They forgot about the order so took 20 minutes. The cocktail came with a giant block of ice in it, meaning there was basically no cocktail in the glass at all. Came to about 4 sips.

All round brilliant restaurant in Chorlton. Excellent service, great food!

Had an amazing Sunday Lunch today, including the best Cauliflower Cheese I've ever had. The staff are attentive and friendly, and the whole place has a nice atmosphere.

Fantastic array of small plates and a very decent selection on the drinks menu. We had the steak, which was really well cooked and seasoned, and some other veggie dishes which were varied and interesting. The nduja carrots were awesome. And they let us bring our furry fluff ball of a dog.

Visited with friends for drinks and small plates. The food, service, wine and music were actually faultless. The hispi cabbage and the celeriac dish were stand out and staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. Such good music on the night we visited too! Head and shoulders the best food in Chorlton. Very lucky to have it on my doorstep

Fabulous Sunday roast with the family

Went for Sunday lunch with my family. So glad they started doing Sunday roasts earlier as we need to drive home before it gets dark. Loved it. Great starter of red pepper soup- v warming on a cold day then the beef. Done perfectly rare. The cauliflower cheese was gorgeous. Was going to have a pudding but couldn’t fit one in. Will definitely return. My sister in law took her leftovers home in a box.

Lovely staff and very reasonable prices for excellent quality coffee. Did not eat just a stop for coffee but food looked delicious.

Lovely spot on the quant Beech Road. The roasts and coffees are sublime.

Incredible cocktail + wine menu. The food was outstanding, every element of every dish had been thought out and cooked and seasoned to perfection. The staff are ace, service impeccable and the atmosphere is lovely! Not to mention the dreamy decor. 10/10 will go back in a heartbeat.

Great cocktails, yummy food and cosy atmosphere

The food is exceptional and the staff are very friendly, couldn’t do enough for us. Wide range of drinks and the orange wine is yum. Highly recommend!

First visit although we used to come when it was The Parlour, a great real ale destination. Sadly there is no real ale, only fizzy craft. Martin Meerkat had a pint of Track Brewery Sonoma Pale Ale. A unfined cloudy beer. Very friendly staff. We sat out front on a grey Autumn day. Good sized interior, busy on our visit.

Everything was amazing!! We got a few dishes to share and each one was wonderful. The decor and atmosphere also were delightful.

I like this place- the staff are great and it’s really nice inside with a good atmosphere. Drinks are good (wine very expensive) but for me the food was underwhelming. Mostly very Under seasoned and and the panko chicken sandwich really wasn’t great. Stale bread and the smallest amount of curry mayonnaise on it - so was very dry. I’d go back for a drink and the atmosphere but probably not to eat.

Came last week for my birthday and was amazed by the quality of the food, unreal! We ordered most of the things in the menu 😂 every single one was excellent! Bravo. Also the Sauvignon blanc you do by the glass is one of the best I’ve tasted. Great service too. Only slight criticism would be that the nets on the windows aren’t my taste, be good to see out and there was also quite a lot of flies inside the bar area. Will certainly return!

A firm favourite on Beech Road, the staff are welcoming and attentive with nothing too much trouble. They have a great selection of beers, wines and cocktails and the food is delicious.

Great spot to get away from the home office for a few hours, sadly driving but did get to sample their amazing food. Steak and hasselback potatoes need I say more. Oh and the nduja croquettes.

First visit after a recommendation, amazing staff and food took us out of our comfort zone, had a mix of dishes I would not have personally chosen and the talent delivered, steak tartare , lamb rump, tempura cod all outstanding! Relaxed amazing atmosphere 👌

Painfully expensive but good. £4.50 for half a piece of rye bread. The bigger plates are priced like main dishes... but they aren’t and come out and it’s a small tapas plate with 6 small fish on it. Im too poor for this one.

Good atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff. Small plates of food brought to the table as ready. Wide range of dishes available, all flavourful and cooked to perfection. With three plates per person, glass of wine and dessert our bill averaged out at £40 per head. This included a 10% service charge which was added to the bill. Not cheap but, because of the quality of the food, good value. Somewhere to consider for a special occasion or, if you're not on a tight budget, a nice treat. Each of the plates can be shared so that two people can sample six dishes and leave the table satisfied.

Outstanding food and drink. Excellent choice for vegans with some mind blowing dishes. Amazing fit out on this neighborhood bar in a great location. Service was attentive and my glass was never empty. Will be back again.

Great neighbourhood bar with tasty small plates and a warm atmosphere

Wow! What an absolute diamond of a place. Greeting by some very friendly and attentive staff into wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, with upbeat, head-bobbing music to remind you to have fun! The drinks service was second to none, ensuring that everyone on the table had a full glass at all times! The food, my God the food. I don't know how I managed it all but I did... and I'm glad I did. The soup had a cheeky and well-recieved spiciness, mopped up by some soft sourdough. The roast beef was silky and the potatoes had a flavour that almost distracted from their crunch. As a Cambridgeshire fella, I wish this place were a little closer to home. Outstanding staff, incredible menu, brilliant atmosphere and surprisingly good value, with 3 courses at just £27. I sure do envy the locals!

Just been for a roast here and oh my god it was incredible! We had the roast miso cauliflower to start which was so delicious. The roast was just perfect, we had the pork belly with a side of the amazing creamed leeks and also the sprouts with walnuts (possibly too sweet for me but I completely get that some people would love that for their sprouts!) The pork belly was perfectly cooked with crispy crackling and all the veg and roast potatoes were to die for as was the delicious gravy!😍 Somehow we found space to try the ginger cake with custard and I am so glad we got this because it was faultless !! The service were so kind and catered to everything we needed, and to top it off we loved the music that was played (especially Talking Heads) Thanks so much for a perfect night, we will be back!♥️

Food is very very good and of course cocktails are excellent.

We had 7 or 8 small plates and snacks. The ham croquettes were beautiful and well priced… equally, the salt and pepper chicken, well priced if a little salty. everything else, it has to be said were very over priced. £7 for the cavolo Nero? £8 for the cauliflower? Stupidly over priced. The steak tartar would have been worth £13 had it not been predominantly potatoes with a little bit of steak. Ok, the potatoes had prep and cook time, but that price is silly. Cocktails were nice, and the place has been done well. I appreciate the impact recently on food and energy costs, but the pricing has put us off going back.

Really like what you have done with the place it had a lovely vibe. That was right up to the point when you charged me £14 for a large glass of rose wine !!! I expect to pay £8-9 for a glass of Provence but £14 ? Really ? That’s £42 per bottle … what does it cost you?. £10 in Waitrose !!! £41 bill for two pints ( £6.50 each) and two glasses of wine !!

Had the most amazing Sunday lunch today with my other half and some friends. The spicy squash soup was incredible and of course we each had a roast dinner followed by some cheese. Great afternoon.

Delicious small plates- such a varied menu -goats cheese bon bons , cheese on toast with a beef dripping dip, squash and feta, pork fillet and tempura monkfish- washed down with a Greek white wine. Excellent service too!
