Nice dinner I had with my family in the town at jewel in the crown.nice & friendly staff.i will highly recommended to booking a table & trying this amazing place yourself.

We were on holiday so looked for restaurant. We fancied indian food as a change from pubs so came here because of the good reviews. We were not disappointed. Spacious restaurant with attentive staff. Making a choice from the extensive menu was difficult, i changed my mind several times. We only ordered a main course with one side. The food was served in attractive dishes, my chicken makani came with pilau rice. My partners main dish, chicken achar methi came in a dish which they finished cooking at our table. The food was very good, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We ate up every morsel.

Used to come here when I worked in Swindon many years ago. Chosen as a venue for a family reunion and did not disappoint.. was as good as ever. I particualrly love their dhansak. The manager enjoyed giving us an extra taste of his award winning dish.

We were at the Jewel in the crown, last night. It was to celebrate my sister’s 50th Birthday, there were 16 of us altogether. The Jewel in the crown restaurant were so accommodating and allowed us to adorn the area we were sitting with banners, Balloons and table confetti. The food was amazing and so delicious, and the staff were so friendly. The food came out in a timely manner. Highly recommend going there for a meal. They even brought out a desert with a candle and a birthday message on the plate, also not forgetting the huge glass with Baileys and a free shot of choice at the end for all. Will definitely go there again! For myself it is the best Indian restaurant in Swindon. Thank you to all the staff that made it such a wonderful and special evening.

Had a very lovely vegan curry The staff were very helpful and accommodating suggesting which foods off the menu could be vegan. When the food came it was very delicious. A complimentary drink at the end too! Wonderful.

The food is always excellent and the staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. It has a "traditional British" curry house atmosphere. Sure, it's decor isn't cutting edge (it has no tacky etched perspex screens or blue LED strips), but it has several rooms with comfortable chairs and tables of various shapes and sizes and is clean and tidy. It's our favourite curry house for miles around, reminiscent of the best restaurants in Birmingham, Manchester or Bradford. To top it off, the prices are very reasonable. Despite the excellent service (I appreciate the fact that you get tap water after the first time you ask for it - too many restaurants"forget"), they can take a long time to bring you your bill, which makes no sense.

Food is outstanding, good portion sizes and very tasty. Excellent value for money. Its our go to place whenever we are in Swindon.

I cannot recommend the jewel in the crown enough. We hired one of the private dining rooms to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday. Organisation and service was 10/10 nothing was too much. And the food as always was amazing. We will be back and just want to thank all for making my dads birthday extra special. Would highly recommend!

I rang to order a collection curry for my wife and I. Were awkward customers because my wife has a dairy allergy. This means we always have to be careful about where she eats and cross contamination. Usually curry houses do not give us the time of day due to the amount of milk they cook with. They can not guarantee there will be no cross contamination. So I rang with little hope we would be able to order. The gentlemen on the phone was very helpful and knowledgable about which curries had dairy in them. He recommended a Bhuna. I asked about a chapati as well, which he confirmed would be dairy free and free from cross contamination. I then ordered a tikka masala and garlic naan with a large plain rice. I placed this order for 7.30pm collection and was told that there is a 20% discount for collecting. I then get a phone call back 2 minutes later from the same gentlemen just confirming that the garlic naan was not for my wife as it did contain dairy. I thought this was very considerate and was impressed. I arrived at the restaurant and parked just down the side street. I was 5 minutes early but was seen to right away. On the way in there was a sign saying ‘for allergies, please speak with a member of staff to assist you.’ I paid, with the 20% discount, was handed my bag of food and off I went. The curry was delicious and we both enjoyed our meals. My wife was very impressed and I think this will be our go to curry place from now on.

Excellent Indian Restaurant An honest review of The Jewel In The Crown Indian Restaurant in Swindon, not a usual social Indian meal maybe after a beer or two but, in the area killing time and looking for something tasty to eat. Arrived without booking as was welcomed by a tall, slim, extremely well-dressed individual who greeted me with a smile and welcoming good evening, sir. I asked for a table for one, and so the experience started. This is an excellent restaurant with an extensive menu to suit all. I do have one warning for you, come with an appetite and not as I did with an off the cuff visit just looking for a bite to eat and to kill some time this is a venue to enjoy, relax and to be treated to in my opinion some of the best indian food I’ve eaten, certainly the best Jalfrezi I've ever had with a smokey note in the background just beautiful. I will have to come back and bring my wife as I know she would love this place. Well done all at The Jewel In The Crown superb. The only picture I took was the cup of tea I had at the end, even that was something just a little special with the tea pot etc. x

Calls in tonight for a Curry and wow we were blown away with the service and the food. I wanted a healthy option and the young waitress spent time with me helping and advising me with a few options. The food was served hot and quickly. I have been very disappointed in different Indian Restaurants and Takeaway Onion Bhaje them seem to be all brought in, but not here! They were the best my husband and I have ever tasted as was the Naan Breads. We both tried New dishes we hadn’t had before and they were delicious. Top marks for the staff, service and food we will definitely be back and recommend to others.

Had dinner here based on Tripadvisor reviews when staying locally. It's a nice interesting menu with quite a few different dishes to the norm and the food was excellent from start to finish, and all staff were attentive and friendly, especially the owner who insisted we couldn't come all the way from Sheffield and leave without a complimentary drink! Great to see a proper old-school Indian where the owners and staff clearly care. Will definitely return if in the area again.

I was not feeling great. I had a temperature and the landlady made me a hot drink of spices which was very welcoming. She went out of her way , beyond the call of duty. to satisfy the customer. I really appreciated it. I was not even charged.

I have been coming here for twenty years when visiting Swindon as it's so reliable and the atmosphere is gentle and calm when we go these days. We really enjoyed all the dishes we ordered on this months visit but the House Special Pumpkin Curry, served in a fresh pumpkin carved in stars, was really lovely and was very moreish. The place has a kind of faded glamour now compared to years back but that makes it charming and relaxed, the dozens of chandeliers are cheerful on a wet, windy evening. The staff are friendly and helpful - although only once you speak to them first - they tend to leave you alone and maybe people mistake this as unfriendly? Personally I prefer a quiet, good natured server who leaves me in peace than a big host personality. I thought £45 for two starters, two mains, two sides, rice, two breads and beer was pretty fantastic. Some dishes were oilier than others but the flavours and textures of each dish are distinct showing its not basic, lazy curry. The okra is my favourite. I'm going to keep going back as it has stood the test of time.
