The Jolly Thresher in Warrington

A great pub. My car had broken down and I waited in the pub (for about 8 - 9 hours) whilst I waited for road side assistance. I stayed warm by the fire. The staff were so kind and friendly- checking in on progress and making sure I was ok. They let me use their phone charger. The food was delicious - I had the scallops, fries, the salmon fish cakes and the brownie. I definitely will return as my head office is close by. Couldn't have broken down in a better location. -6 outside but so lovely and warm inside.

So firstly I turned up in shorts in the middle Of a snow storm lol, regardless was made to feel very welcome and was greeted with a smile. I ordered the pork crackling starter and 10 ounce ribeye which I requested to cook blue. The steak was cooked to perfection was juicy and melted in your mouth was very well seasoned. The chips was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and came with a pepper gravy type sauce. Atmosphere was cosy and warm. All in all I had a very relaxed and pleasant meal here food was top tier for a pub lunch and I will definitely be back. Thankyou for being brilliant.

Just right for a balanced evening, good food, spacious yet cosy and intrigueing surrounds, the right balance of people, and the buzz of discussion in the background. Staff circulating without invading and food that sits at a pitch well above average, a measure above refined and yet avoids the realms snobbish pretense. Just right and not too pricey. Would certainly visit again.

The service at Jolly Thresher stood out as how service should be. In recent times we’ve noticed poor service at restaurants, lack of staff and a poor experience. But Jolly Thresher has kept a high level of staff with great service. Drinks came quick. Questions were answered and we were always checked on to see if we needed anything further. All with a smile too. Food was absolutely delicious too! It’s a lovely place. It’s warm, cosy and would be my perfect local pub if we lived nearer (it’s half way between us and friends who we met)

We are a family of five who had our Christmas Dinner at The Jolly Thresher. Over the last ten years we have tried various places but this one was certainly the best. Food was excellent. Staff were really helpful and very friendly so full marks for service. Can’t fault it. We will be back !!!

We were a group of 12 celebrating Christmas at the Jolly Thresher on Friday. Everything was excellent. The food was delicious with perfectly cooked turkey and trimmings. The Rock Choir was great and the atmosphere festive; a great start to Christmas. Special mention to our waitress Geli who looked after us extremely well. A memorable evening!

It’s a fancy place. The food is very tasty and the service is excellent. I think there are two point to improve: The first one is it stinks 😷 and this makes the experience a bit less enjoyable. The place needs more fresh air. The second thing is it had a cosy area for drinks and I loved it but when I visited it last time, I couldn’t see it. There were tables for food instead of this cosy area. Except those two points, I’d highly recommend for the food and drinks!

Absolutely loved our meal at the Jolly thresher, staff were so friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble, they went above and beyond., the bar man heard my Mum and I discussing the pump cider and without a word, gave us a taster to help us decide. Our meal was delicious, generous portions and reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning.

First visit here, I was dismayed when we asked the waiter if he would ask the chef if he would cut up my disabled sons beef.He said the were too busy to do that.My son has cerebral palsy and dines out often.We have never encountered such an unhelpful attitude.

Wonderful experience in every way; the staff were friendly and professional, the service was excellent, and the menu choices, quality and presentation of the food was excellent too; definitely a place to return to but you would need to book because it is, unsurprisingly, very popular.

Very friendly staff; Food was good quality; nice atmosphere. Didn't really try the drinks but assume they'd be OK. It was a busy Sunday afternoon and we did have a couple of issues with our order not being correct - meals were replaced quickly with no fuss which was fine in the end.

Great all round dining experience. Visited this place a few times when living local and still do after moving further afield. The food as always was exceptional, the menu is nicely varied from your standard pub classics to food that is not often seen on pub grub menus nowadays such as a game pie or the Cumberland sausage so makes a change from the norm. Very busy when dining on a Sunday but standards are kept high and waiting time after ordering was minimal. Great staff, very friendly and attentive with a very well presented clean and tidy pub.

I recently organised my husbands funeral wake at the Jolly Thresher, and can honestly say that the staff and managers were brilliant. Nothing was to much trouble. I would highly recommend this venue for any family function. The food was plentiful and very tasty. They arrange for a staff member to be on call throughout the function, to help with anything that may be required. Thank you for your kind attention and support.

Lovely food and staff but come on guys portion sizes has shrunk massively in six months . Large fish and chips is now like small fish and chips and curry at an extra £1.95 for an egg cup full ( size about right for the small amount of chips ) . My wifes food was also lovely but tiny portions. Appreciate the cost of everything has gone up but I'd sooner pay another quid per meal than get a kids portion !

Came here for the first time with my partner, late lunch/early tea. Ordered from the lunch 2 set course menu and everything was immaculate! The scampi was fresh and hot, the steak was perfectly cooked. The desserts were scrummy and everything was the perfect portion for a hearty meal. All staff are lovely and attentive, and it's such a gorgeous place to go to! Will definitely be coming back!

What a lovely pub restaurant - we were served by Becca tonight. She is absolutely charming. Travelled down from Scotland and loved our dinner tonight with our wee granddaughter.

Had lunch here for three, great food and brilliant service from Lauren. French onion soup starter is a must, very well done indeed, we all had it. Highly recommend the Lowry beer as well. Will visit again for sure, good parking as well.

Family meet up. Buffet. Plenty of food, topped up. Tables in one area for us. Lovely garden we all sat out. Tables with brollies. Field with footie nets? Tee-pe in use by hen do? Very pleasant. Car park.

Me and my Father attended on the 11th for a last minute meal. Eveything was to perfection ! We were served by Becca who provided exceptional service and ensured all our needs were attended to. I enjoyed 3 of the appetisers and my Father had the fish and chips and we both devoured it all ! Would definitely recommend coming here for any occasion.

Our first time here, I'm gutted we haven't been before. The food was excellent I had the honey glazed bacon steak , cooked perfectly. Our waitress (keeley) was very cheerful and helpful. And it's a lovely pub.

It was very disappointing after having visited the previous week. The staff are fantastic. Ordered the lamb dish. It came with a pesto sauce no jue or gravy making the dish extremely dry. Call me old fashioned I have never known lamb to not have a gravy. This made the meat extremely dry. Will not be returning in the future which is a shame for such a lovely place.

We sat outside to eat in the sun. There was a piduim for the staff to work from. The food was great, staff good too. I liked that there were some adult non alcoholic drinks and not just expensive bottles. I intend to go back.

Found this lovely venue by chance and stopped for lunch. They have a large outside garden area which is lovely in the warm weather. A good and lively atmosphere. Excellent food and service. For two of our party the separate gluten free menu was fantastic.

First time visiting this pub and certainly will not be the last. The service was great and the food was really good.

Used to come years ago when I lived in the area, was our Xmas tradition and weekly visit… was nice to see an upgrade in decor and the wig wam tent looked ok… was a lot better as a garden… On arrival it took forever to get seen too, 12 staff on the bar all running round with no direction, my Son had to shout to grab someone and even then it was daggers at dawn look! We got a table, we hadn’t reserved and for a Sunday we was impressed… The GF menu was wide for my partner, but when we ordered mains we asked for a few tweaks… like extra cheese or could we pay for some halloumi in on the burger… flat NO and huffs from the waitress as if we had just asked for a bespoke menu…. The starters came and it was bland… the burgers had so much seasoning and the onions rings came in so much Oil I was suprised that the USA wasn’t invading the dish! It just felt really run down the service, the food average… the decor was saving it.. I think the icing on the cake was over hearing the staff talk about a little girl who spilt her orange juice by accident and could they give her a free one… flat no from management due to “wastage costs”…

Lunch two items £18. Starter brie and caramelised onions ok but too sweet. Main course fish basket. Taste good but pathetically small portion compared to other people in our party. Complained to member of of staff who basically listened and did nothing.

Amazing food, staff, atmosphere.. 2nd visit just as perfect as the first visit. Highly recommend. Can't wait to go in the summer the outside area looks stunning

What a difference to the last time I went there. Mind you it was a long time ago as I had moved out of the area. Having now moved back thought we would go for old time sake. Brilliant. The staff really helpful and polite. Wish I had asked the name of the lovely young lady who served us. I’d employ her any day. Good food, good atmosphere, good staff. 👏👏👏

Didn't have food or drink so can't answer questions about service and food but the atmosphere was first rate, attended the pub for working 😁, cheers for the jugs of soda water and blackcurrant guys.

Myself and my partner went for a Sunday roast platter. We found not only the food absolutely incredible and well worth the money but the service that matched it! We had James as our waiter and he was nothing short of amazing. Super friendly, really helpful and great at recommendations. Myself and my partner every Sunday try different places for roast dinners, and as it stands now the Jolly Thresher was by FAR the best. Highly recommend!!!

We had my daughter's 40th birthday party here last Sunday in the Tipee. What a great venue the food was lovely and Matt who looked after us all did a fantastic job, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.

The servers were very pleasant but we had to ask a couple of times for menus,not a big deal but it wasn't particularly busy. All in all a lovely place for a bit of pub grub, really nicely decorated, good atmosphere.

We visit the Jolly Thresher for meals and as the food and service is always excellent, I hired the Tipi for my husband's 60th birthday, the food was delicious, the tipi and the service we received all night was excellent! The team made our night really special – so thank you! A special thank you to Matt who really looked after us, nothing was too much trouble!

The Jolly Thresher has become the staple of Lymm after its recent refurbishment. The entire premises is a fantastic place to venture everyday of the week. Myself, my partner and my family attended today (7/7/24) and it was a good job I booked in advance as the place was heaving - that’s always a good sign of a highly rated environment! Our server/waitress, Jill, was exceedingly pleasant, she was very patient with my hard of hearing grandad, she took down all of the food allergies that were presented and her presence made the visit that more enjoyable.

We've been here many times and the friendly service and good food being us back. The toilets are clean and fresh and the decor is nice.

Had my Wedding Reception in the Tipi . Excellent service by Craig nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent. Atmosphere brilliant.

Top place. I had a meal here Saturday afternoon and staff were friendly , service efficient and the place was clean and comfortable. In the evening I attended a wedding reception in the Tipi in the garden. Fabulous location, with excellent service from the staff. Warm with heaters above the guests and a fire lit later in the evening. Beautiful buffet food. There is a spacious carpark where I parked my motorhome and checked I was OK to stay overnight. I couldn't fault the place. Excellent.

Booked the table for 7pm, got there early and was seated within a couple of minutes. Menu was really good and reasonable priced. Excellent meal and service. Staff not pushy getting you out after your meal. A most enjoyable evening.

As usual food excellent, service very slow, 2 hours for a 2 course meal!!

There's nothing jolly about the prices in this place £10.85 for 2 halves of lager and 2 packets of crisps, shocking, won't be calling in there again

Dog friendly, good food, nice staff. Will go back again. Update: Food has become a little expensive and small portions. Had the Sunday dinner duo. Not as impressive as it use to be.

The service was amazing but food not so 🥲 roast dinner was over complicated and the sweet carrot and swede mash was ridiculously sweet. Roast puddings over done. Just very disappointing

Totally gutted not been in for many years decided to take my family in for a drink really enjoying ourselves so decided to eat in ordered food 50 minutes to arrive after chasing it up once arrived side dishes were missing other parts of main was burnt really gutted have many good memories with my dad plus people smoking next to us didn’t help. I know it’s busy but too much sorry guys but spent over £200 expected better.

Went here with our Grandchildren. Prices at 5.30pm in the afternoon far too expensive. Food not so good to charge so much. Average quality meal cost £71 for two adults and too children. My steak was tough.. But to be fair they did replace it with a nicer one. Rest of my plate was some fries and half a tomato 🍅. Need to have choice of new potatoes, veg etc.

Came on Thursday for my 40th birthday with friends, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, all freshly cooked with fresh ingredients, have to say probably the best pub food I have had in a long time. We were sat in a booth which was really comfortable and spacious felt private but didn’t distract from the cozy feel of the surroundings. Will definitely be returning soon.

Visited for lunch today. Sat on the outside terrace where there is lots of room and the tables are not too close. All the staff were very friendly especially the lady that served us I think her name was Ghilli. The food was delicious and arrived quickly but we were not rushed by the staff. We will definitely be visiting again

I had a family meal at the Jolly Thresher on Sunday. It was a lovely experience from start to finish. Even though they were very busy, the service was brilliant. Our server was very attentive and the food was very tasty. The decor was also very nice and it was clean. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area again.

Has a great Turkey roast dinner here on Sunday food was very good. Friends had the Roast Platter looked amazing they really enjoyed. Staff were friendly even if they were very busy. Will return lovely atmosphere.Great looking beer garden.

A very nice pub. The cheese and onion pie is a blessing from the gods. The toilets are nice and clean. The chocolate brownie is absolutely divine. It is the best pub I have Been to in a while. Very snazzy.

Went in for Sunday lunch. The lady who served us was very polite, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The food was excellent. I had the roast chicken dinner and it was delicious. The portions are huge and very nicely cooked. Sadly I did not have room for dessert!! Highly recommend a visit here but you must book, it gets very busy.
