What a find this is! We were introduced to the Joyful Deli only last week and we just had to come back today - even though it’s a 70 mile round trip. We can’t express just how impressed we are! The unique environment is magical, made so by twinkly lights, log fires and blankets, the staff are exceptional - the welcome is like no other. And then there’s the food - REAL food served that is delicious, fresh, authentic, enticing! I had avocado, beetroot hummus, feta and crunchy toast made with REAL bread. A taste sensation. The outdoor toilet with a negligee behind the door gives you an idea of what thought and attention has been given to this eclectic place. I have to mention Jilly, the owner. Jilly is a natural host, down to earth and SO talented. This venue is a new must-go place for us…go and check it out yourself…

The Joyful Deli is a large barn & as such is freezing. There is only one log burner to heat the whole place & although there are blankets & hot water bottles for everyone the place is still freezing. I had to go home as I couldn’t feel my feet! Too cold to take my coat off so felt bundled up & uncomfortable. Food was ok but couldn’t enjoy as my hands couldn’t leave the hot water bottle for too long. Probably best to avoid until the warmer weather arrives.

The Triadvisor site states " Free off-street parking, Parking Available, Street Parking" THIS IS NOT TRUE as there is no off treet parking. Just beware that the country road where the premises are located is very narrow and there is no off street car parking, so you run the risk of having your wing mirrors being knocked off, or the side of your vehicle being scratched by the public buses which regularly pass in either direction. The road outside is so tight that it looks like an accident waiting to happen. The worry about what you will find when you arrive back at your car puts me off the meal, however sumptuous it is claimed to be.

Being quite local, been meaning to visit for a while and wasn't disappointed at all. The atmosphere and decor is stunning, if it wasn't for the roaring fire you could be in Sorrento with the best background music. The staff were super welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was delicious with local produce. Farm shop goodies looked amazing but as we were on a walk we will be back for skne very soon. Thank you

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the environment was very welcoming, but unfortunately the food and drinks were not up to scratch and over-priced. I ordered a decaf. coffee which tasted like weak, instant coffee, and a salad with some bread. The salad was OK, but the quality and variety did not justify the price of £6. I had asked for wholemeal bread, and instead got what seemed to be defrosting white 'supermarket' bread. I was told that this had come from a local bakery. Perhaps it was, but the quality was poor. My husband had a veggie burger and chips which was OK. The total price was £34 which is a bit steep, bearing in mind the quality of the food. Just a suggestion - I think that simplifying the menu but doing it really well would be an improvement as well as getting the basics right, like consistently good bread and coffee. Having more vegetarian and vegan options would also be an improvement (from my point of view). Then it would be worth the price. I will definitely be going again, as I like to support all local cafes, but genuinely hope for some improvements.

Went for lunch with friends, really nicely done out inside, staff friendly & offered hot water bottles as a little chilly. Could not find a menu online as I guess it changes. Slightly disappointed with the vegetarian options, think it was soup, pizza, omelette or a salad as it was cold I had the soup which was very nice. About half the menu contained ham, which they had run out of. I had hoped to have a smoothie or milkshake but don’t do either. Would be nice sitting outside in the summer.

Called in for brunch. Excellent service and food. All staff were friendly and welcoming as well as being keen to ensure we enjoyed our meal. They took a pride in what they served which was beautifully presented and after making enquiries about some of the meal (which we had really enjoyed), the chef came and told us more about the ingredients. It’s a unique and welcoming converted farm building. Whilst not the warmest there were blankets in abundance and a warming stove. We look forward to visiting again. A real treat. Thank you

Very disappointed with our visit. My pizza needed further cooking the cheese was only just melted, a couple of minutes extra would have been all it took. Service was very quick but I would have preferred to wait for a better quality meal. No one checked whether everything was ok, I did pass on my comments when the table was cleared but the server didn’t seem very bothered. Prices are extortionate - £3.50 for a Diet Coke is just ridiculous and it was almost flat. 2 pizzas, 2 cokes, 2 pieces of cake and 2 coffees, £51, this does not represent value for money, you could get much better value in Ilkley and at a much nicer venue. Coffee was lukewarm too but the cake was very nice, if expensive. The barn is very pretty, despite still smelling agricultural, last I visited it was still home to a horse and a food storage area. Toilet facilities are very lacking, only one toilet for the whole premises which is outside down an uneven/slippery path. My previous visit was also disappointing, again due to pricing, 2 coffees, 1 tea and 2 pieces of cake - nearly £25, I thought I’d been overcharged but didn’t realise until I got home, but maybe that is just the pricing of this place. Marketed as a farm shop/deli you would expect value for money but you definitely don’t get it! 2 visits both disappointing.

What a beautiful rustic gem that we discovered only yesterday. On arrival we were greeted by a wonderful team with a smile. We chose to be seated outside on a beautiful sunny day and it truly felt like we were in Italy with the great ambience and music playing. The food is freshly prepared and amazing. What a lovely place to dine. The staff were so lovely and attentive. We will definitely return.

Came here for lunch for the first time for my elderly mum's birthday. Firstly, other reviewers had mentioned accessibility so we got dropped off rather than risk the parking and it was the right decision. There is no specific disabled parking. It is on the road. The place is really rustic but pleasant. Service was friendly and efficient. The menu is limited with a few daily specials (I had expected there would be more of a sandwich selection). The deli counter looks impressive from first glance, but taking a closer look, it might not offer that much in terms of traditional cakes. The lasagne was tasty but could have been hotter. I opted for the meat sharing platter with my friend. At £30 my expectations were high, however, when it arrived it consisted of a pork pie, scotch egg, supermarket packet cheap salamis and ham, 2 lots of the same feta cheese, olives and dipping oil and 3 small pieces of break pp. Being a farm, I sort of expected something of a better quality and it definitely didn't offer value for money. The coffee and dessert choices were OK. The other comment I would like to share is if you sit inside don't take the table nearest the bar area. The constant banging from the coffee machine and noise is pretty distracting. Really sorry for the quite negative comments which I realise are in opposition to most others and the place was generally busy so perhaps it was just we chose the wrong dishes. It certainly did not make me want to revisit.

Friendly, welcoming staff who are happy to talk you through the food and what's available. The food itself was great, and a wide choice of drinks too. There seems to be a standard menu with a good variety, and then a few 'dishes of the day' which shows they're serving fresh and seasonal food. We went for lunch, and they didn't hurry us away once we'd finished so we ended up with coffee and cake too.

Beautiful little barn/ restaurant. Super helpful and friendly staff. Really dog friendly. We arrived just after 3pm and was initially told there would only by cakes and tea and coffee available but when we asked if it was possible for something savoury they rustled up an amazing salad and the most delicious sausage roll from the deli. We sat outside in lovely surroundings and then bought some delicious items from the deli to take away😊

Wonderful relaxed cafe & deli with excellent friendly and helpful staff. Had a great birthday lunch with a mixture of English and Italian food and drink. Lovely location and outdoor eating space, however the food is way overpriced! I had a dish with a salad accompaniment, the salad was wilted and somewhat starting to decay. In general the portions were small and definitely not worth the money

Lovely lunch with my hubby today, the ambience is second to none, the service is great, the food is good but pricey, but u don’t mind paying top prices when it’s good🤪 n it was, only disappointment was the tomato n red onion salad side, priced at £7.50, comprised of 6 slices tomato, 2 slices of onion, a threat of basil n a drizzle of balsamic 🥺 s/b more like £4 or less, unless they up the portion size to suit the price😁

I'm not sure if the heating had broken or something, as this coffee shop was freezing! Everyone was sitting there in their coats, and I wish I had brought mine. I was offered blankets and hot water bottle, but was refused a seat near the fire. I left before ordering, as I was just too cold. Disappointing, as it looked a nice place.

What a lovely wee place. Lovely atmosphere in an old barn with the beams and roof coverings still in place. Blankets and hot water bottles available if you’re a bit chilly although the wood burner keeps things toasty warm. Food was delicious. All seems to be home cooked/baked and truly one of the nicest quiches I’ve ever tasted. Staff were lovely and friendly and they even sell fresh bread, fruit, veg (locally grown!!) and different alcohol (wines, beers etc!). I’ve seen a few negative comments on price and while it’s not your Costa/Nero prices (although not far off!), for quality, home made food in an independent place with loads of charm it’s 100% worth what you pay. Will definitely be going back!!

What a find, loved the rustic charm and warm welcome, food was delicious and well presented, the garlic mushrooms on sourdough was the best I'd ever had, my husband had a breakfast sandwich which was crammed with sausage, egg and black pudding. A shop within the cafe was full of local produce and plants were on sale outside. I could go on and on. Visit this little gem for yourselves, we'll be returning again.

Had the steak sandwich which was plentiful in steak and the chef had more than risen to my challenge of cooking it 'as rare as you dare...'. Have not eaten a steak of this quality in both the meat and the cooking outside of France. A truly exceptional experience in dining, friendly and caring service and rural location. Will most certainly be back.

Seen this place advertised a lot since moving to the area and wanted to go, so finally we did and we were not disappointed! Sat outside, which is a beautiful setting, fairly lights, mismatched garden furniture, loads of plants, beautiful! I had a brie, bacon and cranberry sauce panini which was delicious and packed with bacon, I counted 5 slices! When I make it at home the husband is lucky to get 2! 🙈 He chose a steak panini and as he is always hard to please I wasn't expecting much response from him however he said "it's the best cut of meat and best cooked steak I have ever had this side of the channel" from a man who only eats steak in France. He had it cooked rare and it was perfectly done and again so much steak was packed into the panini it was falling out, all delicately seasoned with just a bit of salt. We accompanied these delicious sandwiches with a huge bucket of delicious coffee. Delicious food and fantastic friendly service and supporting local produce and farmers. We will be back and having been singing your praises to family and friends!

I have been to this restaurant many times. Historically the food has been fabulous and the sevice is great. And I promote healthy honest bussiness all the times .However….. u can only truly judge a great place when something is “ no quite right”. I never touched my meal this evening ; the mussels did not smell great!! I was not going to risk eating it.. I am not a chef but travel often and am an Experienced cook. Antonio freaked out when I asked if the shell fish had been previously frozen? He replied by refusing to cook a replacement.meal. I offered to pay but he just freaked out..Absoultly no customer service what so ever. .Quite childllike to me to be honest! Overall it’s a lovely quaint restauart which we all should support, it really is lovely. However if the boss doesn’t listen to their customers then he is sure to fail. I always try to post positive and honest reviews. Hopefully restaurant owners read this and improve their flaws. Everything is now consumer led. !!!!

I went to Matteo's about 2 months ago and every day without fail since I've thought about how INCREDIBLE the food was, in particular the best garlic bread I've ever had in my life (the garlic bread other garlic breads wish they were to be honest), the garlic dough balls with the mound of homemade garlic butter while the dough balls are still steaming from the oven and the baked cannelloni that has ruined all other cannelloni for me. Matteo is clearly so passionate about cooking and making the experience eating there the best he can, running the place with a small effortlessly friendly team and taking the time to check in. His hard work has paid off, its incredible! It's a very small place which would usually put me off but it feels cosy and warm, I live in Scotland and genuinely I'm trying to plan another trip down to Yorkshire so my family can experience the absolute magic that is this restaurant and see how pretty Settle and the surrounding area is. The only bad thing about Matteo's is that I'll never be able to enjoy Italian food the same (and I suppose also that it's not close enough for me to visit weekly but that's my fault). Hands down one of the best meals of my life! (And one more time, THAT BAKED CANNELLONI. Wow.)
