Disgusting food poisoning 🤮🤮do not eat from here. Currys are not fresh

Had a group Christmas event last week and had to ask the owner to turn on the heating as it was so cold in the venue. The lights to the Xmas tree were turned off which gives you an idea of the management of this place. How this place has stayed open I have no idea as we have been to this place before and it was so cold on that occasion. Drinks expensive and did not taste good. As there was only about 10 other people in the venue on the Friday night we visited, I will be surprised if this place stays open for much longer.

Food is fantastic every visit, my only complaint is that the place is cold.

Will not be returning here. The staff are rude, lack basic customer service skills. They don’t greet you with a smile and seem as if they can’t be bothered to work there. Most places have cutlery/condiments ready at the tables. You have to repeatedly ask. They serve the chutneys after the poppadoms. It wasn’t heaving with customers, so I am unsure why the staff greet customers with hostility. The toilets are located upstairs, very uncomfortable if you’re pregnant as the stairs are too steep.

I don’t normally post reviews if they’re going to be negative, however in this case I will make a special exception for the basic fact that this place is a disgrace to all pubs and restaurants. We had booked out the Kings Head as a venue for a party and also paid for catering. Upon arriving, guests were taken to a barely sectioned off part of the pub whereby dirty chairs and tables were supplied for the function. The floor hadn’t even been cleaned & was sticky. During the evening, we had asked the owner & bar staff several times for extra plates & cutlery & were told this was for ‘paying customers only’. Having spent a significant amount of money to hire this place & include catering we did not expect the terrible lack of customer service & unwillingness to cater to customer needs. We were denied the right to any music, we were not allowed to use other pub facilities and when asking for 2 extra chairs we were told once again that chairs were for ‘paying customers only’. Dirty plates & food were left in and around the function hall & the staff completely ignored our requests once they’d received the money for the venue hire and catering. We felt completely catfished by this place & the owners did nothing to make the evening special for guests despite the large amount charged to us for their service. Once we had arrived for the event, guests were completely ignored & we were treated like we were trespassing strangers. Basic requests were ignored, a lack of customer service & appalling conditions in the pub itself. Food was average at best. We cut our evening short by 3 hours as it was not enjoyable at all, owners did not treat us like customers let alone fairly. It was a complete waste of money. Honestly, it’s not even worth having a pint here. Save your money & go elsewhere.

Food was absolutely banging, I had Punjabi lamb on the bone and chicken lollipops. Unreal. Lamb chops best I've had round here

This is our go to place for curry and we quite often go there just for a drink and few games of pool as well. Food is spot on, staff are friendly and prices are more than reasonable. Love it!

We went on a Sunday lunchtime. It was quiet and as a result lacked atmosphere. However food and service was good, they had an extensive menu. I would go again now I know what I'm doing at a grill.

Decor needs updating, painting and fixing up the function room

We've been here quite a few times,lovely food everytime.

The mixed grill was nice. The meat come out nicely grilled, juicy with a crisp on it. The staff are friendly too and very polite and quick to serve also

They take your money and do not deliver

We had a private function on Saturday - Terri was our barmaid and she was superb! Looked after us and the drinks were flowing! Friendly, attentive and great customer service.

Great local business. Excellent customer service, good food at a very reasonable price. Spotlessly clean and stylish. Great cocktails. Well worth a visit.

Food was great. Roti was a little burnt/crisp, but otherwise the rice/ chicken saag was top notch. Some parts of the pub need a bit of TLC, but overall The King's Head is quite a historic pub and worth a visit. Friendly service and a decent spot to watch the sport also!

Lovely staff. they were friendly and had great banter. The food was delicious snd i had the 4 course for 14.95. Bargin and decent sizes. Would go again.

Went here yesterday as I had booked a table for me and my friend. But once someone bothered to acknowledge us I was told there was no booking for us! The manager behind the bar had such a rude attitude and told us to sit where we want! We looked around and the tables where dirty with dishes left everywhere! There seemed to be a wedding party going on but apart from them guests it was dead! Mind you I'm not surprised as the manager had no customer skills and was so rude! Won't be going there again. Me and my friend didn't stop walked straight out and went somewhere else! P

Me and my friend booked a table here for 5pm on a Saturday evening for a birthday get together. On arrival at approx 4.45pm we were waiting near the bar for someone to acknowledge us when a man behind the bar appeared who was the owner as another member of staff told us when we walked out! He didn’t even acknowledge us so my mate said we have a table booked for 5pm he asked the name then looked on a sheet I said I have no booking then pointed and said but there’s tables anyway, he was so rude and arrogant and clearly doesn’t care about his customers just the money as there looked like a wedding party there at the time. We looked around and then walked out as the place was a shambles, dirty plates everywhere and rude staff. As we walked out a member of staff was by the door. My mate said we changed our mind and asked if the man was the owner and she said yes! We drove 2 mins down the road and went to the new talbot instead which was absolutely lovely. Don’t waste your time or money as this dive, the owner don’t deserve your hard earned cash!

Decent mixed grill at a good price. Food is a bit inconsistent but majority of the time it was great! Parking available.

Held a smallish gathering (35 people) at The Kings Head for my husband's 60th birthday. We didn't want a separate function room so the extremely helpful staff reserved a section of the pub for us. I ordered 10 large mixed grills along with chips and naan breads which we had buffet style. Food was excellent, service was friendly and efficient. Exactly what we wanted, very happy with the whole experience. Pub was quite quiet and had we not been there it would have been almost empty.

Went here early on a Saturday night, plenty of tables available, but it did fill up quickly not long after we arrived. Food was great for all 4 of us. Service was excellent, a mistake by my friend was promptly rectified by the serving staff, can't fault it. Definitely go back.

Lovely old pub, refurbished beautifully with the main larger room and going along towards the raised decking outside area and steps to the car park are 3 more rooms, an open front pool room, next to that a lovely room with a doorless entrance each end. Looks very cosy with pretty cushions. There is a small room with a little bar on the right and a few tables and chairs near the doors to the patio area. A function room upstairs which had a wedding party enjoying themselves. Toilets upstairs too. Food not cheap but delicious. My friend had butter chicken and chips. Both perfectly cook. I had smoked jumbo king prawn on a bed of onions and pilou rice. Poppadoms and sauces, etc, to start. All lovely. Service great and staff friendly. Shame it was rather quiet that last Saturday night. I also discovered a little pizza room styled like a takeaway where they are made. I love all the different rooms and the original stairs to the toilets and function room.

23:20 Security : “You already been in mate?” Me “ no” Security “you’re not allowed in mate” Me “ what? Ok” Went to the dog spend £50 in an hour. Good work! Bearwood deserves better than this.

Nice venue for a party. Own catering Cud have done with more bar staff. But staff lovely Drinks good price.

Great atmosphere, great entertainment in the background. Food is always amazing, good portions, and a great value for money. Amazing customer service, staff all always attentive.

A lovely gastro pub, just across the Bearwood cross roads. It has plenty of parking. Neat and clean place. A lovely place to hangout, play snooker watch football have some drinks and have lovely Indian food.

Booked a table for 15 , all set up and lots of balloons allowed, food was excellent.service was good, platters a brilliant sizzling maintain of flavour. Friends balti was lovely .Brought own cake . All good . definitely return.

Well, excuse the review but we only popped in to have a meal on a midweek afternoon, so with regards the whole pub experience it must be taken as a given. So the establishment is clean and spacious, a pool table and plenty of room elsewhere to make yourself comfortable to enjoy social conversations. A large car park and clean toilets. The food was very good. If not excellent... Well presented and hot... On arrival. The drinks are as to be expected of a public house and on the whole the house is deemed a good venue.

It was quiet when we visited Tuesday afternoon to sample the special offer of four course meal. It exceeded expectations and was fresh hot and delicious. Inside and outside dining. Mainly Indian food but some English food. Large rear car park with steps to rear entrance. I will check out disabled entrance next time I go.

Great food and atmosphere, the mixed grill was lovely and tasty and really hot when it arrived. The staff are nice and attentive too, very impressed

If im being honest they have gone down hill since being taken over, the food was pre cooked and dry in my opinion (been there many times in the past and always fresh)...Need to up your game guys sorry

The place is ok. Food was good. The prices are really expensive. The washrooms are located upstairs,which would have been better if they were downstairs. Mutter panner with garlic roti was the one which I ordered.

Great food and service from small bites to full course meals

What a disgrace!! Would give NO stars if that was an option!! Travelled from Solihull to meet with a friend at 7.30pm and who lives nearby in Edgbaston, to eat and catch up with a few drinks . It was freezing throughout the whole pub and in the upstairs toilets so when returning to buy drinks at the bar, I asked the ‘Manager’ where we could go to be warm! He said to walk round the pub & find somewhere! I asked if there was still an open fire and he said that went many moons ago. I asked if there was a radiator I could stand by to get warm and with shrugged shoulders, the Manager said heating was from the ceiling. There was no heating on whatsoever! He didn’t apologise and didn’t care at all! So unable to walk elsewhere too far away with the freezing conditions outside, I rejoined my friend. I’d already travelled an hour from Solihull and I fortunately had to stick it out and huddle up in my fur coat ! We decided not to eat as it was so very cold! Only a few people were in the pub anyway - about 8 to 10 people all night! My friend and I went to the bar together for last drinks at 11.40pm and she decided to ask the manager why it was so cold. He retired that he’d already told me and when I then said that he’d also not answered me, he said “I want got both out” and took my two Bacardi and cokes away from the bar!! He said “ I want you. both out”! I was very shocked and upset when we were customers who had done nothing wrong! Just asked why there was no heating on when it was freezing outside! I called my husband then at 10.50pm to come and collect us immediately. It was so cold outside so we sat on our seats continuing to chat while my friend finished her previous drink. At 11.01, the shutters came down half way on the bar! At 11.05, the manager said ‘you two are leaving now or I’m calling the police!! I said ‘why, we’re waiting for our lift’ and our lift arrived as the manager was heard to be calling the police!!! His, we think, girlfriend then stood at the bar and asked why we’d been there since 7.30pm if we were so cold! I asked who she was to involve herself in our terrible situation. She was also very rude and dismissive! I’ve worked in entertainment all my life, working with fabulous pub abs club gaffers abs have never been treated like this before! My friend and I spent good money tonight in a freezing cold pub and the Manager wasn’t apologetic to us as customers! Just obviously a cheapskate saving on his energy. Ills without any concern to customers bit still charging top prices for drinks too! We would never visit the Kings Head in Harborne ever again and I hope the owners take note of this terrible manager running their business! No wonder it was so empty on a Saturday night!! We were both totally disgusted and so glad to leave!! I always hope our British pubs can recover and stay in Business bit this Indian food pub isn’t far away from closing down and it’s no surprise! Wrong Manager who doesn’t know hospitality whatsoever!!

Nice and clean, but food was not great. The Manchuria chicken was extremely salty and to be honest the marinade was not at all what Manchuria is supposed to taste like. Overall great environment and kid friendly!

The place was recommended to me by a friend as I was staying in the local area. It was very quiet but staff were super attentive and helpful. I had the garlic chicken curry which was top notch! Great food, great atmosphere! Went back for a second visit a couple of weeks later and again great service! Highly recommend.

First time. Everything was absolutely fantastic and I must say we didn't have to wait for our wonderful HOT food to come out to us.

A party of old college friends were together to celebrate the life of one of their group who has sadly passed. The place was quiet but looked inviting, clean and spacious. We were pretty rowdy reminiscing about the old days and drinking here on and off over the past fifty years! The food was good, flavoursome and the orders came as requested. Our number dwindled and more drinks were consumed, our party was getting noisier but the gents on duty let us get on with our ramblings, teas and coffees were just right. I hope the pub gets busier and advise people to try it or you may lose it.

After dinner drinks, not really a lot to comment on, quiet for a Friday night but a good atmosphere, met a couple of random students at the pool table and had a nice half hour pool challenge, nice lads 👍👍

Consistently good Punjabi food. I don’t eat veg curries but I have to say the saag was even better than my mum’s and I ate it. On the bone chicken curry is very good too. Hidden gem.

Food and Real Ale , both sensational , we came here not knowing what to expect, but wow,food blew us away,absolutely full of indian taste and service was exceptional, the real ale was a bonus, definitely one for your shortlist guys and girls

Lovely food. Couldn't fault it. Huge chicken pieces were delicious. Genuinely 4 courses for £14.95 Mon-Wed. Choose the cake for dessert. Mine was a sizeable piece and came with ice cream. Majestic pub in Victorian style, reminiscent of the Bartons Arms. Choose the HPA for your beer

Customer service was awful, we moved tables once as the sun was shining too bright and was getting too hot and we got told to stop moving tables constantly. Very unfriendly staff. Toilets the lights weren’t working in most of them. Food wasn’t that good the paneer curry tasted very sweet. Asked for salad and got a plate full of green chillies.

Went for lunch today. Had lamb shank & coronation chicken open sandwich....both delicious and generous,very good value for money. Even though it was very busy the service was excellent. See you soon

Me and Hubby had large mixed grill...off the scale delicious, enough for 3 really plus poppadom starter. Lovely setting, great atmosphere and very reasonably priced. Great service. We would definitely recommend Kings Head Bearwood. We will be coming back 🤩

Down from Glasgow visiting family and we were passing by and seen the special Monday and Tuesday offer, 4 course Indian meals for £14.99. So glad we went in, what a fantastic deal, a great selection and absolutely huge portions. Will certainly visit again and hopefully Hannah will have improved her Glasgow accent!!!

Just had a really gorgeous and authentic Indian meal at The Kings Head. New management are in and seem to have it spot on. Had Lamb Saag - good portion beautifully cooked meat, wife had Dall Makhani which she also thought very good. Definitely return soon

Have been to this pub many times in the past although i think the food is much better than before .Except sunday dinners are not available any more. . i feel the place has gone down hill slighly . Young lads swearing and being far to loud .No respect for other customers. As for decor its a bit all over the place and as for the plastic canopy is like an oven when the suns out . Should have letf it off . Saying that will go back for drinks and the odd meal .but the yobs i find ruin it for me im afraid .

Good place to catch up and enjoy some comfort Indian food.

We held a family event here for about 30 of us, using the snug. For a bunch of people who have differing tastes and expectations, the food was spot on I must say. My only comments would be the mild options were just a tad too spicy for the little ones and the salad was a bowl of leaves. Otherwise it was great and loved by all the adults. If you see a bunch of Indian people dining in an Indian restaurant, it's a good sign! It is somewhere I would definitely return.

Amazing food and brilliant service!!

The disabled parking space on the Hagley Road frontage had an unknown car occupying it plus a disabled parking space at the back of the pub had a " tuk tuk " type vehicle on it. The car park was virtually empty so why was it parked there ? Are you trying to deter disabled drivers ?

Top food, pleasant staff! Especially the guy who brought our food out :) What more could you ask for? Price was really good, and we all really enjoyed the food! 100% will be back - thank you :)

Nice place didn't put 5 stars as I only had a beer

Visited for a late lunch. The place looked lovely. The only people in there were 3 guys drinking beer. Sadly, the real ale pumps had clingfilm over them, and there were no ales on tap either. A friend and I ordered food and drinks from an assistant who made no eye contact, and did not appear to be interested in our custom. The food we were served was mixed. My friend liked her chicken tikka. We both agreed that the butter chicken sauce tasted like Heinz tomato soup. The Dahl was hot with chilli, which is unusual. No one asked us if our meal was ok. We stayed chatting for some time after eating, but despite our being the only diners, no one cleared the table. We left feeling disappointed. The server at the bar did not speak to us as we left. Come on Kings Head. You have a fabulous place. You can do better than this. I live locally and was sorry I'd suggested eating there. It cost over £35 for our meal and 1 pint and one coke. Not good.

Staff were great but food average at best and out of three advertised real ales none were on. Could be so much better with a bit of effort.

No bitter. No coors no point going but the curry is cheap but no Cobra either
