The Limes Bar and Hotel Restaurant in Mid Suffolk

Absolutely great Christmas party night,delicious food,friendly staff & a great band for a fantastic price! Definitely booking for next year, couldn’t fault a thing!

We had a great night at the Christmas Dinner & Dance 21/12/24. Food was nice, good service and a lovely atmosphere. Such good value too especially when compared to other venues charging more. We will definitely return…well done to the team at The Limes Bar and Hotel.

Went for a festive party night - two course meal plus entertainment from Andy Ottley (Elvis Tribute). The meal was totally underwhelming. Soup with a herby crouton...tepid watery thin soup followed by Turkey roast dinner...hard veg, really poor roast potatos, hardly any gravy...asked for more and it was like tap water. Other meals were the same and Mushroom Welington was terrible too. The only thing that saved the night was Elvis...who was superb. Won't hurry back there and definitely won't be chancing another meal. Wish we had taken photos to upload.

I had what I considered to be a very poor attempt at a Christmas meal. Lukewarm food served on a plate which had not been heated. Some items looked to have been overcooked, the turkey was dry and the roast potatoes were chewy. The Yorkshire pudding had been waiting too long. I did wonder if some items left over from the day before had been reheated. I will not be going back.

Disappointing, poor quality food, bad service. We came for breakfast with family at about half 9. We had to wait 1 hour before food came out. Cold sausages and bacon, skin on beans, avocado was brown and dry. Poached eggs were hard boiled. Halloumi was cold and hardly grilled. Toast came at end of meal. Waitress didn’t seem bothered, no explanation or anything for the wait and she didn’t seem fussed to be honest. We have just moved to the area and gave it a try with visiting family. Avoid and go to Aldercarr Farm Shop and Cafe, it’s 3 minutes away!!

Excellent food and service BUT cold environment and service charges are high plenty of other places to choose that are warmer and without added service charges

Disappointing. Staff unhelpful and disinterested. Would not recommend eating or staying here. Shame as it was recommended.

This hotel is absolutely delightful, it’s incredibly quaint and quirky, staff are really friendly and welcoming, loved it here and would definitely come again, top place 👌

Lovely gem of a place, the food is outstanding and the servers are lovely. Popped in this evening and enjoyed a lovely meal in the window.

When Steak n Ale Pie is on the specials board, order it, it was to die for, the meat melted in the mouth, i swaped for chips and they were lovely, the veg was to perfection, didnt need the extra gravy as the gravy in the pie was lovely ( put the gravy in a glass and down in one)

Very satisfied, Manager very helpful. Arranged a party of 36 who sat down to a delicious 2 course meal for a Diamond Wedding Anniversary Party. Everyone enjoyed and commentated how good it was. Would definitely go there again.

Spent a week at The Limes. Staff were extremely helpful and professional. Ash and the team do a great job of making you feel right at home in a chilled and relaxing environment, and the breakfasts are first class with no fuss with extras or swapping things you're not keen on

Visited the Limes for a birthday celebration meal for my wife’s birthday and had a lovely night. Was looked after by Kay who was new to the Limes but was really friendly and made our evening very special. From the moment we arrived Kay made us feel welcome and looked after us throughout the night. Thank you Kay, Ash and Nicole and we will definitely be back.

Our first visit since it reopened wanted to see if it had improved . Entered from rear car park , needs a tidy up before better weather comes . Old urinals laying on a table and various bits of rubbish/rubble laying about , It was a bit chilly inside had to put my jacket back on . Apart from all that I had a lovely lunch - Seafood Linguini, a nice change from usual pub food . Server was a very nice young lady , new to the job but got everything right . Will visit again when it is warmer .

Had a quite large family gathering for a lunch, staff could not have been more helpful, everyone from the young to the old had a really great time, can’t thank them enough for making our gathering so good.

A friend and I went for lunch yesterday (Saturday 16th December). The first lunch I have had since The Limes has reopened. Lovely friendly service, we ate in Buggs Bar. We both ordered the same, Roasted Butternut Squash with kale lentils and Burrata. It was absolutely delicious. We both totally forgot to take a photo as we tucked straight it. Would highly recommend.

…it’s been 30 years since I was last in Needham Market…(when I was stationed at a local RAF base)…and what a delight it was to be back… …The Limes is smashing…a good sized double room…the heating was on when I got there…🙌🏻…a comfortable bed…and…a proper bath…!!…not like in some of the hotel chains…I could actually get both shoulders under the water at the same time…👌🏻… …I got my standard meal of burger, chips & a side…burger was decent but the onion rings were bloody smashing…proper onion rings…not ones bought from Iceland… …two members of staff were on duty during my stay…both were charming , engaging and chatty…I don’t know their names but one had red hair and the younger one was wearing glasses…give them my regards…they’re a absolute credit… …would defo stay again…

The Sunday lunch is superb. The service was excellent and very friendly. We’ve also enjoyed a couple of evening meals and breakfast. It’s a fabulous gem on Needham’s High Street.

The limes bar and hotel is the ideal place to meet up with friends and family.. the staff are friendly and a lovely atmosphere to be in. The food is great also, and they also do a mean full English too.

Three of us visited The Limes for lunch today. It was quiet so we chose to eat on the dining room which was clean and welcoming. We shared two starters - crispy squid and octopus carpaccio. Both delicious but I preferred the octopus. For mains we had duck breast x2 and loin of venison. They were very good indeed. A nice bottle of Chilean Merlot and we were a happy bunch of dinners. £35 per head. The service was excellent. This is just the sort of place Needham needs. I wish them well.

Absolutely amazing … the food was delicious and the owner very helpful … If you like halloumi cheese you have to try this bites and the onion rings are just fresh crispy and perfect.

We went on Sunday and had the most incredible roast dinner! Would recommend, 10/10! The food was delicious and generous portions, really great service too!

I was very disapointed in the visit. I found the staff quite eractic and did not know what they were doing. Service and food was poor. We were really looking forward to the reopening but felt rushed and was a let down. We could see staff smoking in the car park in full uniform. I work in catering and we have to change into normal clothes on our breaks etc due to contamination. Makes me question the food hygiene standards.
