The Long Dog Cafe in Aberdeen City

We are regulars at the Long Dog Cafe, and for good reason. The food incredible (try the Hallo Sir bagel and thank me later!!), very generous portions and lovely coffees. Every time we have lunch here, we end up not eating dinner as we stay pleasantly full the rest of the day! The bakes are delicious and are all home-made. The staff are super friendly, welcoming and oh-so knowledgeable about the things they sell in the adjoining boutique. We have never been steered wrong with our purchases, and the owner is honest about everything. Both the cafe staff and the boutique staff make you feel welcome, even when they're slammed! We always have lovely chats with them. Bonus that the dog is obsessed with the place, and absolutely adores the staff (they're her best friends, lol!). We come back here time and again, and recommend The Long Dog Cafe and Boutique to everyone!

This has become our one of our favourite stops( and we have tried many cafes!!) Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty food selection, good coffee and very reasonably priced.

Travelled for an hour for this experience, ignored by the staff so walked out. I get your rules on ordering but if you are a paying customer you should at least be greeted when you arrive not ignored. I am sure you will follow this up with 'war and peace ' (like the feedback on previous reviews) as to why the paying customer is wrong,and you are right, but the fact remains that we are paying for your way of life so treat us with respect. We are not cash cows

Esta es una gran idea para un café. Realmente agradable tener perros alrededor y amar sus desiertos de perros. La comida era muy agradable, al igual que los batidos raros. No tenían algunas cosas que el propietario explicó que era porque los productos se habían descontinuado. Sugerir eliminar del menú para evitar que los clientes se decepcionen. Estaba bastante ocupado cuando estuvimos allí y tomó mucho tiempo para conseguir nuestra comida. Mi amiga pidió primero pero mi comida llegó antes que la suya y yo la había terminado antes de que llegara la suya. La camarera era muy amable y se disculpó. El personal era muy agradable en general. Realmente disfruté del ambiente aquí y volveré.

Nos detuvimos aquí para un almuerzo tardío y estamos tan contentos de haberlo hecho! ¡Baja la mejor moca que he comido! Ambos comimos paninis y compartimos una rebanada de pastel y todo fue impresionante. El personal era amable y atento, la cafetería estaba tranquila cuando nos detuvimos. No puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficiente. Muy, muy buena relación calidad-precio.

Fui a tomar un café por la tarde. Su americano y pastel era agradable que mi tía tenía. Sin embargo, sus batidos son realmente impresionantes, no he estado en ningún lugar que ponga tanto esfuerzo en sus batidos que realmente fue muy agradable y valió la pena el dinero. Aunque esta vez no tuvimos nada de comida, el menú tenía un montón de opciones de sonido encantador, con una serie de opciones vegetarianas, así que sin duda volveré! El personal también era agradable y amable.

I finally had the chance to visit the Long Dog Café, a place I’ve been eager to try for ages, all thanks to their renowned freak shakes. The experience was fantastic! It’s an incredibly charming café, delightfully dog-friendly, which I absolutely loved. I indulged in a delicious toastie and the unicorn freak shake—both served in hefty portions that truly offered excellent value for money. Overall, it was a wonderful visit, and I highly recommend this spot!

Awesome breakfast had. Excellent coffee, Latte was very hot and really nice. Had an incredible plate of food for the cost, great value. Smashed Avocado with bacon on sourdough with Sriracha sauce and rocket. Must have been 6 bits of bacon and the sauce was outstanding. Sausage in a bun for her and the bun was great with 4 sausages inside. Ended up dipping in the Sriracha sauce as well!! Service was lovely as well. Had another coffee to go!

went for lunch today, the cafe is quite small but with individual booths it feels like you get your own private space! only down side was our drinks arrived with glasses that still had the last users lunch round the rim so we just drank out of the cans, the food more than made up for it the portions were huge and delicious, will definitely return!

I just discovered this wee gem in the west end today. Actually, I've passed it plenty of times, just never had time to go in. Well, managed to go today. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich on sour dough bread, which was perfect. I can't say much about atmosphere, as I was the only customer! But, I love the decor and the whole appearance of the place. Also, very convenient to park outside while ordering, which, as a professional driver is, important. The cakes look delish and I think everything is home cooked. And, at only £3 for the sandwich to take away, I'll definitely be back.

Really sad to write this, I don’t normally do bad reviews. We came in with our dog and was ignored for 20 minutes before deciding we should go somewhere else. A real shame because I would have loved to see the dog boutique

Dog friendly cafe. But space is really small. We ordered bagels which took about an hour to be served. The breads were quite hard and also the steaks were not soft enough, they did not provide any steak sauce as well.

Nice cafe, fairly busy when we turned up. Really enjoyed our coffees and bacon rolls, however we waited 40 minutes for our coffees and nearly an hour for food… Would recommend to anyone looking for a cute little cafe but make sure you give yourself plenty of time!

Nice little place with friendly staff. I had a vegan sausage bap which to be honest was a little unimaginative in its delivery. Basically sausage on a dry bap.

I am extremely disappointed with the recent changes that have taken place at this cafe since the new owner took over. Previously, this place had a warm and welcoming environment, with the previous owner personally greeting guests and creating a cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The once vibrant space has turned cold and devoid of any personality. Gone are the days when this café was filled with lush plants, bright colors, and playful menus and stickers that made it exciting for me and my children to visit. Now, it feels mundane and unexciting. It's truly disheartening to witness the removal of the elements that made this place special. What's even more concerning is the behavior of the new owner. On my recent visit, I witnessed him becoming visibly aggressive towards his young female staff. He raised his voice and slammed doors. This unsettling behavior happened not just once but on multiple occasions when I tried to grab a coffee with my children. It's deeply saddening to think about the impact this hostile environment must have on the hardworking staff. Due to these changes and the lack of a family-friendly atmosphere, today marks my final visit to this café. It's a shame to see such a promising place lose its charm and become an unwelcoming space. I hope that the owner addresses these issues and works towards restoring the warmth and vibrancy that once made this café a special destination for families.

We came here for a treat after a long walk. My brother had the carrot cake and I had the waffles with bacon. The carrot cake was dry and icing slightly hard. It wasn’t fresh at all. The waffles had to be sent back as the bacon wasn’t cooked through. When they came back I tucked into them only to find they were as dry as the cake and shop bought. Such a shame as all of that is easy to do properly. Bit if a waste of money.

Good food. Best place to have lukewarm iced tea.

I do love my smoothie on the thicker side. Otherwise, I can't fault the shakes.

Lovely food and friendly service, best of all could bring my dog in. Met the needs of a fussy 6 year old with no issue. After lunch we had a browse in the neighbouring Long Dog Boutique. Got great advice and help getting my Cockapoo a new coat - lots of selection and delighted to get her properly fitted. Bought some great snacks too. A great wee find, will definitely be back.

Had a coffee and a vegan Biscoff freakshake. It was lovely! Would be perfect if there’s some vegan whipped cream too, which should be quite easy to find (like Heavenly whipped cream). Coffee was nice.

Very nice café, had a bacon roll and hot chocolate. Bacon was crispy and a lot of it! Had milk hot chocolate with almond milk and it was the best hot chocolate I've ever had! Staff were friendly as well. Will definitely come back

First time visit was quite late till we got there but the guy said take your time no hurry at all even though it was well after closing time. Coffee great service great staff came and spoke to our cocker spaniel. Will definitely be visiting again soon

When we visited it was quite busy and there were a handful of dogs. The staff were super helpful and friendly. We had an iced late, bacon naan, smashed avocado and a milky bar Freakshake. Everything from the presentation down to the overall atmosphere was second to none. Next time we will definitely be bringing our puppy!

Excellent! I go to The Long Dog at least once a month for my bagel and brookie fix. The “Hallo Sir” bagel is a perfect mix of sweet and spicy with grilled halloumi and the lovely staff even cater for a gluten free diet! The brookies are amazing and made fresh in store which is a real treat, the Mars Bar are my favourite but the Oreo are just as good. Overall, really lovely coffee, a good atmosphere and dog friendly. All of the staff are so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for a lunch date in Aberdeen.

Firstly, I ordered a Caprese panini and it turned out that there was a slice of what looked like pork or ham inside it. Very disappointing as I obviously ordered it because I don't consume meat. The servers seemed relatively uninterested whilst we were there, were talking inappropriately whilst there were customers in the store and using phrases like "sausage party" when children were present and to top it off, strangely had weird rave style dance music playing in the background. This place has sadly gone seriously down hill, what used to be a welcoming and cosy environment to bring your dog for a treat has now turned into a run-down, cold establishment that lacks in atmosphere. I won't be returning and will not be recommending to any friends, family or colleagues.

Cozy little dig-friendly cafe. Our dog enjoyed meeting some other dogs and we had some great shakes and coffee. We then went next door to the Long Dog Boutique.

Food was delicious and some of the staff were lovely. Love that I could bring my dog inside. Aberdeen is sadly lacking in dog friendly places. However, my milkshake arrived. Looked heavenly unfortunatly it tatse sour. I avoided making a big fuss at the bust counter. Didn't want to put people off so when a server came over I quietly informed her my drink tastes off she replied with they were too busy but someone would deal with it then disappeared for ages. Another server came over with more of our order. Again I explained about the drink. He apologised an dagreed to replace with a cup of tea. Some time later yet another server arrived with a bottle of milk explaining the milk couldn't be off. No apology just a rather long ad embarrassing exchange. He then argued with my friend at the end of the meal as she requested a refund as the cost difference was quite large between the two drinks. Such a shame as the food was delicious. Also no high chairs so she had to ballance her 9 month old on her lap whilst trying to eat. I had to cut up her food for her. Overall disappointing experience.

Went in with my puppy chihuahua and felt very welcome. Couple of other dogs were in as well. Food and coffee was good and nice atmosphere.

My flatmates and I visited for lunch and had a good experience with the staff whilst we were there. However, we fell ill later on after consuming panini and flatbreads. The food was prepackaged in the fridge and did not appear fresh. Safe to say we will not be returning.

Fun freakshakes and pet friendly

Visited for breakfast one morning on my own. You order at the counter and then sit and they bring the food out. I had the smashed avo and a matcha latte (the only place I've seen so far with matcha!). It was very good, but the smashed avo was a little hard to eat the way they'd thrown the ingredients on. Oh well, it still tasted good! And my latte was yummy too. There's limited seating, but it's a cozy little spot. Easy location too, and great service. Very nice staff. Would eat here again!

Bacon naan is superb, the extra wee pot of spicy sauce is a nice touch to let you add more if you want it with more of a to kick.

When my mum came to visit and insisted her dog go everywhere with her a quick google revealed this little gem, Sam the king Charles had his own wee seat and the bagels and donuts where awesome.

Visited for lunch with family and dog having read how it is advertised and other reviews. Having a dog we were in the minority. It was really busy and crowded with people sitting in and queues of people waiting. Dogs are allowed in, but not as welcome or considered as other cafes in Aberdeen. The majority of customers don’t have dogs and they appeared to be the target audience. The tables are small and cramped and not pleasurable to drink or eat from. There are two 4 seater tables, but these were occupied by two groups of two. Food and drinks were okay, but nothing you could not get at equal quality elsewhere.

Superb easy going café with great cakes and a brilliant flat white. Friendly and prompt service. As the name implies, dog friendly too!

I love The Long Dog Cafe - but I love their new sharing boards even more. Coming with a range of goodies, you also get a hot drink and a jug of orange or apple juice. We opted for the vegan one which came with a range of items - both sweet and savoury. It was a big eat for the two of us. We also picked up a salted caramel freakshake to go for a family member who absolutely demolished it!

Love this place, would definitely recommend.

Stopped in by for lunch a few weeks ago. The good was really good and the place certainly has a cosy atmosphere. The fact that it's dog friendly is definitely a plus too.

Great service and yummy sandwiches

Following online rave reviews from customers, this was my first time to visit this dog friendly cafe on a Saturday afternoon. However, it turned out to be very disappointing to say the least as a result of very slow and poor service from the staff. I had ordered a bowl of soup, only to be told 15-20mins later that there was no soup which I was looking forwards to having along with my toasted panini! It was expensive too for a panini! I am in two minds about returning again, I was also sitting beside the side door in the cafe to the shop next door and there was a terrible cold draft coming inside. It was freezing! I think it is a more dog friendly cafe than...the only positive thing I enjoyed about this visit was the coffee.
