The food here is bloody incredible, it seems they have a new menu and new food served which is 11/10. Burgers were juicy, flavourful, presented beautifully. Service was absolutely fantastic, very friendly staff, and very accommodating. Only down side is how empty it was! Both me and my partner were surprised, the food, service and cleanliness was brilliant. You have a Wetherspoons down the road full up to the brim serving mediocre food when you’ve got a great restaurant down the road, which is just as affordable. Definitely recommend!

We were impressed with the Market House. We hadn't planned what we were going to do, but walked passed and decided to have a coffee. We sat outside at a table on the pavement. We ordered at the bar and the service was very good. We added to the order and had food and enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and polite. We liked it so much we plan to go back.

I went out for dinner with my family to celebrate. I ordered the sausages and mash. The menu said it would be creamy mash with Cumberland sausage and seasonal veg with lots of gravy. The mash was watery and flavourless, the sausage was a curled sausage but NOT Cumberland, the veg was boiled carrots and broccoli ( very over cooked!) and the gravy was gelatinous. It was so bad I could not finish it. It was quite frankly the worst meal I have ever eaten out and that is saying something! I do not know how this place has managed to stay open as we were the only people in there- a big warning sign!

Incredibly incredibly kind service here. Dog friendly (we came with our medium sized dog on a Wednesday lunchtime) and was sat next to an older gentleman. Our server Reece was impeccably polite and attentive while leaving us to enjoy our food at our own pace. But Reece was absolutely phenomenal with the older gentleman who was clearly a regular but found it difficult to both move and remember things. Reece was kind and very very patient while also making sure the gentleman ordered only what he needed without incurring any additional cost, being polite and respectful of the gentleman’s dignity and independence, all while still looking after our table of 3 plus our dog. So impressive and such a trustworthy establishment - thank you Reece

The pub, which is very large, was completely empty. There was absolutely no atmosphere. The food was simple pub grub but was good - above average. The staff were young and inexperienced but very friendly and helpful. They cannot be blamed for the demise of this pub but Palmers Brewery can. Bridport is crying out for something different- perhaps food with a particularly slant such as Italian or Greek etc. Make it interesting for people to come - they have little serious opposition in this town that does have a tourist trade as well as locals.

I recently went here for some lunch, I ordered the fish and chips, it was okay for a pub but quite overpriced for what it is. My cutlery was filthy and when I complained, the member of staff on the bar didn’t do anything about it. It’s very disappointing as I feel that this place has a lot of potential and it’s being wasted. Clearly the manager does not know what he’s doing as even the members of staff didn’t greet me at the door. They told me it would be table service but no one came to our table for 20minutes. I will not be coming back. I don’t want to criticise the young members of staff too much, but the manager was blatantly rude and should know better.

Stopped in Bridport on our way back from Devon, just went into The Market House on the off chance. They do a Sunday Carvery which is £16.50. Chef serving was very polite and amiable considering he never stopped. We thoroughly enjoyed it & would highly recommend The Market House.

Bridport really busy as it was Hatterday ( people wearing hats , stalls, lots of atmosphere) when I walked in a lovely young waitress found me a quiet table . Nothing was too much trouble. 2 lovely polite smiling girls took my order . My drink brought to me by a polite helpful young man who noticed I didn't have any cutlery he went off to get it . My meal ( mushroom languni) was delicious . The lovely girls popped over a couple of times to ask if I was enjoying my meal. The whole experience really was top quality. Recently refurbished, so clean, but somehow lacking in atmosphere. A comparatively limited menu when compared to a Wetherspoons, with similarity sorts of offerings. The "mild" curry was certainly not. We ended up going across the road to Waitrose to buy a pot of yoghurt: none available in house. No mint or biscuit with coffee, which might have just finished things off nicely. Service cheery but rather casual. Frankly, below expectation.

We dined here last Monday evening to celebrate my parter’s mum’s birthday. Three of us have dietary requirements: 1x gluten-intolerance & 2 eat only plants & fish. From experience it is not easy to find somewhere serving tasty evening meals that satisfy all requirements, but Market House came up trumps! We all thoroughly enjoyed our food: Veggie fajitas Mushroom tagliatelle Chicken stack Cheeseburger The food was delicious, good sized portions and the veggies for the fajita were really fresh. The service was brilliant! The guy behind the bar, and both young ladies who served our table were all friendly, welcoming and efficient. Given the birthday aspect, the staff seamlessly brought out a cake I had secretly asked them to after the mains were cleared away. This was really special. Absolutely atrocious. We came in, a big family of 8, looking for a drink. We placed our order, but only two came out. We waited longer, and after 20 minutes came our first complaint to the bartender— a 16 year old. Of course, she did nothing. We waited longer, 45 minutes, and still nothing. We went to the bar again, because obviously it’s not on. They hadn’t even made the drinks after the girl came to our table, and we had spoken to her at the bar several times. Not to mention she was rude, giving us short answers when we spoke to her. The manager was behind the bar when we left in fury, and was plain rude, telling us we were in the wrong and there’s only one person on the coffee machine, when there was 4 others behind the bar. It wasn’t even busy. Overall, don’t support this business. They’re rude and don’t care about their customers.

Haven't been here since new owners took over. Sunday menu is now starters, plated roast and desserts. 3 sizes small £11.95 2 slices meat, medium £12.95 3 slices meat and large £14.95 4 slices meat, the large could be mixture of meats if required. Very quiet compared to past when it was a popular carvery but thought we'd give it a try. Ordered small and large, both came with Yorkshire pud, 3 roast potatoes for small and 4 for large, 2 bits of roast parsnips, 2 pieces roast carrots, swede, white cabbage and garden peas. Personally white cabbage under cooked, tiny portion of parsnip and carrots, too many peas, but overall a good roast. Meat was beef, turkey and pork, all very nice. Shame we had to ask for horseradish etc and no check back during meal. Also shame about Palmer alcohol prices but landlords can't do anything about that. However we enjoyed the meal and would recommend and return. Helen

The pub we had intended to visit was closed on Wednesdays so we drove into Bridport looking for somewhere else to eat. Having checked the reviews en route we headed to one only to discover they had an event on, so they were not serving food.. They sent us to the Market House across the road.. At that point the children were hungry so we did not stop to check reviews of this one. I wish we had. The menu was mainly pub classics so four of us ordered burgers - one plain and 3 pulled pork. Plus one order of ribs. They were the worst burgers I have ever tasted - dry, tasteless and overcooked. The pulled pork was Ok but there was virtually no BBQ sauce so that was also quite dry. The chips were pale and dry and tasted of nothing. My husband asked for more sauce thinking that would help - they brought us some cold gelatinous gloop that tasted synthetic and nasty. My grandson who had ordered the ribs enjoyed them but had to scrape off the same sauce as he said it ‘tasted funny.’. Although we were all very hungry we left more than we ate. A horrible meal.

Mac and cheese- well chef obviously has no idea how to make it, it arrived in a dish, only sauce was the undrained pasta water and had a smattering of cheese on Top. The waitress asked if everything was ok and I said not and that the meal was awful -she responded with oh ok, and walked off, no one bothered to ask again. Unfortunately I had paid up front due to bar ordering I assume this must be the only way they get to keep the money now! Will not be returning, cost £32. Worth £5 for coffee (which was Luke warm but tasty)

Very nice staff and good food so I can recommend this place. Me and my wife had a burger, my son the half chicken and all was good. The draft beer was very good.

Sorry guys, not sure what has happened as this was one of our favourite places to eat….the burgers were tiny, more like child burgers and my partners chicken burger was terrible - tiny and bland. Very disappointing and unfortunately it’s put us off any future visits. Where has the love gone? 😔

Rubbish now it's been taken over by new owners. Service awful, menu awful, beer awful. Used to love this place. What a shame 😫

What has happened to this place? It used to be the place to go for a buzzing atmosphere, great coffee and happy staff. Now it is empty, the coffee is poor and can only be made with full fat milk as they offer no alternatives and miserable, unhelpful staff with one member (the landlord) being downright rude. We will not return whilst under this ownership.

A party of us went for lunch. We were seated in a dingy backroom on a sticky table and which despite booking, wasn't set set up for us. The pub was quiet but we waited 40 minutes for our meals. When they arrived, the burgers were overcooked, the rolls very poor quality and the chips cheap and undercooked. My husband's lasagna was inedible. I don't know how they had the cheek to charge us. There is a feeling of the place being run into the ground and that noone cares. We are local and will definitely never go . back. It has only just reopened under new management but it's best avoided.

We popped in with a group of friends for an early dinner as going on somewhere. We were the only people in there apart from one lone diner . My pate starter was served with three crispbreads straight from the packet, which was so poor...

Four of us for Sunday lunch. Very good. Great food, good staff. All courses excellent. Very attentive to detail. Relaxed two hours. Will definitely return. Book as they are busy and quite rightly so!

I didn't eat so can't rate the food. This is my second visit to what I consider a real pub, well kept ale
