The Meating Room in Dacorum

Located on the main highstreet, this restaurant is a good place to go if you are mainly interested in eating burgers. Thought has gone into the interior decor, ensuring the correct atmosphere. Service is fantastic. Burgers are freshly made, but for the price underwhelming with basic accompanying salads and the size of the burger was so small in conjunction to the bun! The price I am afraid is steep for what you get when reflecting on a certain American chain with the initials FG who also make fresh burgers at a similar price point. On street parking only. Out of our party of 7, 5 had the same feelings towards the burger, which is a shame as it let down the rest of the excellent experience.

We recently dined in and was thoroughly impressed by both the tasty food and the impeccable service. The burger was juicy and delicious. The fries and onion rings were all cooked to perfection. This place has become one of my favourite spots to get a quality burger.

I’m going to give up with this place each time something is wrong ask for well done got blood in it chips cold and chewy asked for chocolate got vanilla even said can you put choc sauce in it as well

I ordered food for delivery at 6:25pm, it said 50mins for delivery. Its now 7:30pm and i’v just seen the emails from 7:07pm saying my order has been cancelled. Then when I ring up to ask why no one had the common courtesy to ring me to tell me this the manager explains there is nothing she can do because the delivery driver has decided gadebridge in hemel is too far to drive as you are busy and can only do locally deliveries. We have been waiting an hour for our food. Usually love your place but you have massively fallen short here. If someone had rung me when they received the order and told me this i’d have driven over to collect but leaving it 42mins and then just cancelling the order with no phone call or explanation until I ring up its extremely poor.

Unfortunately tonight the food was not up to standard. I had delivery and chips and onion rings were cold. Lamb burger overcooked thick end if tomato - overall disappointing

Where do I begin. Food is overpriced for the quality, with portion sizes not being big. As seen in the photo, only 4 onion rings and you're paying roughly £1 for each. Service started off great but then when it came to the end, there were 2 other tables. We were waiting for over 30 minutes for our bill, no one came up to check on our food during the dining, staff were standing around talking to their mates, each other, too busy on their personal phones, or drinking cans of soft drinks. We ended up having to get up and wait at the bar to get our bill. It wasn't busy at all, as someone that has worked in the hospitality industry, it was just appalling service.

Love the server named Rob. Fixed my order when there was a problem. Rob was providing very charming service

Food was very nice! Staff were pleasant when asked for help. It would be nice to have more napkins and cutlery on the tables instead of having to approach for it when you need but overall a lovely place to eat! I would go back!

Great burgers and really good price as well. Kids burger and fries 6 quid and more than ample portions. Waiter and waitress both really nice. Would 💯 recommend for families especially.

Shocking. Have used this restaurant many times so surprised when I placed an order for delivery, waited 1hr 45mins to then have to call the restaurant to chase and be told “we cancelled that order as it’s a bit out of our way” phone manner terrible, not apologetic at all or even tried to find a solution. Just go elsewhere - food isn’t worth the arrogance

Ordered on Deliveroo, the food was delivered very hot and was all extremely tasty. The chicken burger was incredible. 5/5 stars.

Fast food quality at restaurant prices. Nice milkshakes though.

The food took so long to come out and we weren't warned over the wait. When it came out the food was a bit cold. Couldn't be bothered to complain as we had been there an hour by then. The drinks were then served after the food!

Placed an order through deliveroo, given five stars on that platform but felt the need to do five stars here too as the food is absolutely incredible!! The St Peter’s burger (cheeseburger) and the batchwood (chicken burger) was the best burgers I’ve ever had!! And I’ve tried many haha. Even their fries and onions rings were top notch so I would Highly recommend this place!!

What a pleasure it is to enjoy a real burge, hand made by the meating room team. I'd normally have to travel into the city for such treat but not any more...

Nearly didn't come here due to the differing of reviews, however after asking friends we decided to give it a go and we were not disappointed!! Both burgers were cooked to perfection and were delicious. This place is defo good value for money and we will be returning ASAP

Don't order a burger, they are not cooked properly

Starters chicken wings onion rings ok burger chips came out same time as starters chips good bit into burger pink they took it away 10 minutes later it returned cooked on the inside dry on the outside and only two thirds of the original size .if its not cooked you cook from fresh

The patty was burnt and really dry so the burger wasn't enjoyable. The best part of our meal was the peanut butter milkshake

7pm booking, 7:40 they finally took our drinks & food order. It was a busy Saturday night but the long wait marred our experience. My burger was over cooked/tough but the side dishes were tasty. Had to fight for the waiters attention as he was very busy/understaffed.

Wife loved halloumi burger. The meat burger wasn't much better than we could do at home. They forgot to give us our shakes but made it up by delivering it separately.

If you're a Burger Lover and lean more towards Burger King than McDonald's you have to try this place! I feel compelled to write a review because after all the hype I tried my first 'Five Guys' the other day... It was underwhelming because all I can think about is your St Peter's with Cheddar and those sweet, sweeeeeet Rosemary fries. You've ruined every other burger place because nothing compares! During lockdown you were the one treat we could look forward to in some really bleak months. Thank you for providing really tasty flame grilled burgers cooked exactly how we like it (Medium-Rare all day long!), Piping hot perfectly cooked rosemary fries and then to really close my arteries and die happy...... It was the Peanut butter Milkshake for me. The sheer amount of food was just too much with that milkshake but you have no complaints here because the PB Milkshake to finish was more like a super smoooooooth Ice-cream to finish the whole meal. Ps. Thanks for keeping us updated on all your offers via facebook yet not spamming my inbox like some other companies. A 5-Star service all round from me. Thank You and I wish you so much success for 2022!

Great food, great service, great pricex

Read the recent reviews and some poor ones left so was a little hesitant. We placed and order to be delivered. Have to say it came hot and we all really enjoyed it. No complaints at all, will use again. Many thanks.

The worst burger I’ve ever tasted all 3 meals went in the bin . It was vile ! How can a burger place get it so wrong

Worst burgers we have ever tasted not even edible . They didn’t even bother to put the cheese in that was supposed to come with it . The meat tasted like fish and was bone dry and the Sauce tasted off . Never again

I don’t usually write reviews. But the service I experienced in this restaurant has got to be the worst I have encountered! I had the breaded chicken burger which was just a frozen piece of chicken between a bun absolute waste of money. My boyfriend now has food poisoning from his burger which was the double burger. No flavour and dry… We ordered chicken wings and they gave us the wrong ones but the service was that bad you couldn’t call anyone over or get anyones attention. Do not go here.

All about looks, food was bland

I'd been excited to try this place, we booked a table and ate in. No mention of an ~11yo birthday party when I booked the day before, I understand you have to make money but it would have been nice to be warned. We arrived and were greeted and seated immediately at the only table not occupied by the party. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, I've read so many good reviews here, maybe the party orders put too much pressure on the kitchen. Unfortunately I've given it one star, which I don't do often, because there wasn't one thing on my plate that I'd eat again. The courgette fries were incredibly greasy, the added avocado was a half an avocado just thrown in, it wasn't seasoned at all (which is a theme here). I don't know how a burger containing roasted red peppers and halloumi could be so flavourless. I had to salt every bite just for a bit of something. Summary: had high hopes, but didn't live up to its reviews. Sadly, won't be returning.

Absolutely fantastic! I Love coming here, just the right portions, great selection of burgers, other options available and all for a fair price, something for everyone on the menu. This visit was just as good as previous times, staff are always welcoming, friendly, polite, helpful and relaxed. It’s clean and tidy, has lovely outside seating and offers access to the Bar next door after you finish your meal. Always pleased to support this independent growing business.

Burgers are good. Chips are great! Shakes are pretty good too. They are not alcohol licensed, but you can get a good selection of drinks from the partner bar next door. They still come to your table, just ask, and pay two bills. Try the different sauces too!

Superb burgers with delcious options for Vegans and Vegetarians

Not sure if it is a coffee shop, a restaurant or a snack bar. Or is it a burger joint? Everything was OK. Its just we struggled to find anything we liked on a very limited menu of quasi pub food.

The burgers are packed with goodness. There milkshakes are divine too, would recommend visiting.

Further Update. During COVID we contained ourselves with take away drinks and the odd cake. I have to say both have been first rate along with the service.

If you can find no faults then it has to be 5 stars. Slight oddity in that the alcoholic drinks come from next door, so you pay 2 separate bills.

A year ago the burgers were juicy and tasty and the buns were soft. Last three times I have ordered the burgers have been dry and grey and the buns tasted stale or over grilled. Tonight's burger was probably the worst burger I've ever had. Disappointing as my first few experiences were great.

The manager of this place doesn’t seem to think the mandatory face mask wearing is applicable to him or his staff.The only coffee establishment in Berko not adhering by the rules

The food was cooked to perfection. There is nothing I would want to change. The King Harry burger is awesome along with the buffalo wings and the halloumi. I recommend the calamari also. I will definitely be going back to try more of the menu.

Only ever done takeaways from here, cuz of lockdown, so can't comment on dining atmosphere inside ... but ... can say the burgers, and the house fries that are automatically included, are really tasty, and competitively priced. It's my son's preferred place to go in Berko for a burger, especially as they seem happy to modify (remove salad) some ingredients. Those that I've enjoyed eating include the Meating Room, The Berko (lamb) and the Skinny. Definitely worth a try if you've never done so before.

Great local coffee place with lots of bench seating and a good choice of locally sourced cakes. Nice friendly staff make it a go to venue.

Recently tried this place for the first time. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and attentive. The burgers and chips were very good. During lockdown we collected a takeaway. Once again, staff were so great. Epic rosemary chips. Highly recommend. It’s so great to find a place that understands how important it is for staff to make the experience too. Thanks guys!

Very pleasant and outdoor seating if it's a nice day

I have been to this restaurant twice before and ordered takeaway. May I say now that food has always been very good. However, I must warn potential customers that coronavirus precisions are simply not being observed at this restaurant. We booked a table for a Friday at 7. No tables / booths were blocked off to ensure guests were kept apart. The restaurant was tightly packed and we did not feel safe at all, so departed for deserted verandah outside and ate in the cold, but at least felt safer than remaining indoors. Another couple up and left altogether after arriving moments earlier, remarking to us that they didn't feel safe. Waiters did wear masks, but no visors or other face coverings were worn by kitchen staff preparing orders. No trace details were taken from us and no QR code available to scan. If a transmission of the virus were to take place here (and it could have easily occurred on the night we went), there would be no way for authorities to trace it. On a separate note, both burgers on the bill we received was higher than the website menu. When challenged on this the waiter could not provide an explanation, which was unimpressive at best and left us wondering if management had told staff to see what could be gotten away with. We paid the advertised price and left. Despite the excellent peanut butter milkshake we will not be returning - coronavirus transmission is very serious at the moment as rates are rising everywhere. The Meating Room disappointed and left us very concerned. I would not recommend this place as neither myself or my fiancé felt safe.

Lovely veggie options, very friendly staff

Ordered through JustEat, came 20 minutes earlier than expected, which was surprising! The Halloumi Burger was the best veggie burger I’ve had in a long time! Brownie was to die for. Seasoning on the chips were a bit heavy but other then that, it was perfect! I would definitely recommend!

Great little local burger joint! Great service and brilliant burgers, and with good gluten free options, it's our new regular Friday night takeaway.

We went to collect the order at the agreed time and they hadn’t started to cook it because they didn’t even know there was an order. They were not wearing masks and we politely asked them to do so when cooking our food. I am a doctor and know how important it is. It is also the government’s rule for takeaways. The person went mad, refused to wear a mask and unilaterally decided to cancel our order. We will never go back again.

Disappointing. We've been recommended this place and rushed to get a selection of burgers for dinner. The burgers were lacking taste and were all quite dry. We also didn't find any cheese that was mentioned in the ingredients. One if the burgers came with a totally different meat than we ordered. Very sad
