The New Inn Amesbury in Wiltshire

We stopped over in this area to break up a journey to Bude. Decided to have dinner in this pub. Really warm welcome from the lady behind the bar and when her colleague took over she was just as friendly. The food was fantastic, I had the cod and chips which was cooked to perfection and my husband had the burger which he really enjoyed. Would recommend this place 💯.

Booked a table for wife and I on Saturday evening. TWO meals for £12.99, not smaller portions as with others similar deals. Very well cooked and tasty burger, chips and salad and steak and Guiness pie with chips and veg. Secret gem and the beer I had (Abbott) was really good. Will definitely be using their takeaway service not to mention continuing to feast on their fantastic Sunday roasts.

Nice pub with a warm welcome. Just a quick drink very early mid week so quiet but imagine it's lively at weekends etc.

Food and service excellent. I had the beef chilli, wonderful comfort food on a cool day.

Just an update to my old review as we've been back multiple times since. Still a top notch pub, never had a bad experience. Staff are great, prices are good and the carvery is cracking.. Oh and that steak pie is delicious 😋. Will be back again soon. Keep up the good work. Went for Sunday carvery. Lovely food with very generous portions. You will not leave hungry. Great value for money and friendly staff. (Way better than Toby, eat here and support a small, local business.) Will definitely go back.

We had a minor bus incident coming through Amesbury tonight and the wonderful team at New Inn could not have been nicer, coming to the rescue with teas and coffees on the house and making sure we were kept safe and warm while the local police helped get our bus back on the road. Thank you to the team, you were lovely, as was the beautiful old pub 💫💫💫

Much improved atmosphere and food. Staff are friendly, drinks are reasonably priced, and the food is well worth a visit. Burgers, hot dogs, pizza, pies and much more! They even cater for vegetarians witha great bean burger! The new owners and landlady have brought a much welcome change to a much loved local pub.

Stopped off very late Sunday lunch time. Really friendly welcoming place. If I'm in the area again I would definitely go back.

Menu wasn't as on the Internet. A bit of confusion as to what they did actually have! Husband ordered a baguette and got bread, myself and friend had satisfactory sandwiches, other friend had ham, egg and chips. Very small portion and he said his chips were definitely not cooked! Oh dear! I gave him half my sandwich 😆

Great pub. Very tidy and spacious. Drink prices are reasonable. The bar maid gave me a pound(as I had no cash on me) for the jukebox, barmaid and me agreed on all Fleetwood Mac. Awesome. :)

Very friendly host, we had a nice meal!

Nice carvery but cold. Not surprising though as the pub was freezing and so were the plates !?* Asked for my meal to be zapped in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Food came back 20 minutes later when most of my family had finished and still only luke warm ! Must have put it in the conventional oven to "reheat". Shame because quality of food was decent.

Met family here yesterday being half way between our homes for Sunday lunch. Lovely food, great staff but so cold in there that our dinners were cold before we were half way through. Such a shame, it appeared there was no heating working. Wouldn't visit again in hhe winter months!

This pub is fantastic!!! It's the patrons that really make this hole in the wall stand out from everything else. I had such a great time meeting everyone and conversing with everyone and really getting to know the feel for this community. I was welcomed right from the start. They were all so kind and very interesting. They gave a lot of travel tips and directions that you won't get from anywhere else when you come visit Amesbury. I highly recommend it. Hannah you and everyone's company were beyond my expectations for the real taste of English life. I know I'll be happy to come back again should our pathes cross again. -Roman

Nice and cosy little pub. Only stopped for a few drinks, good atmosphere, polite and friendly staff, beer was good too. Background music from a juke box was on, loud enough to hear and quiet enough to think and hold a conversation. Food looked amazing and menu seemed to be priced reasonably. Not your youngsters night out but a very nice venue.

Nice Inn, The had a meal was freshly cooked to a very good standard. The bar staff were friendly. Wish they had more customers. It was a thursday and was very quiet that's why I give 4stars Hopefully business will pickup for this family run Inn.

Lovely little pub with exceptional food. The staff were so lovely, and offered a speedy service. I want to give a special mention to John who served our table, he was so kind and accommodating to all our requests. Will definitely be visiting again!

Customer service was great but they were out of stock of most drinks as they were waiting for delivery.

Went in with some mates after a christening, I was pleasantly surprised. Their was a live Rock band on which suited me 100% and I have to say they were very good. There are several parts to this place and I think we hit them all 😂, all in all we had a great night, so hit this place up if your in town

Great family run Pub! If it's a night on the town, or a quiet afternoon drink, the New inn caters for all!! On the nights out, the door staff are all over it! Switched on & fair to all and most importantly keeping everyone safe!👍 Look forward to more events, with the easing of Covid restrictions. Especially the karaoke!! The pub is great, the live band we had was mega. The atmosphere was awsome and the cider tastes delicious. Nice crowd, good friendly owners....Well worth the visit, especially when there is a live band playing.

Everything was nice but the barrels almost fell on a customer on one of the other tables and after heard the guy complaining about the attitude of the barmaid when she had to clean it up apart from that everyone was very polite after and was a good night

I ve seen loads of covid rules being broken , owners fall short the Foster's smells like rotten egg alot of the time yet when u take it back it's like your being blamed for it awful place

Appreciate that they have just opened on Just Eat, however billing an order and cancelling it because they were too busy, meaning funds are now held in limbo for up to 7 days is really disappointing. Guess I now have to pay for two meals tonight, and hope the funds actually get returned before Christmas.

the best n "last real pub" in Amesbury

Hired their function room today and cannot praise the service enough. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff who regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. An amazing buffet with so much food, at a great price too. Cannot find any fault with The New Inn and would definitely return, whether it be just to the pub or to hire again.

Brought in a large group of ladies but they shut off the karaoke machine 30 minutes before closing so it killed the vibe and our wallets. Moved down the stairs to a friendlier pub.

This is a great family run pub in the centre of Amesbury. Very friendly staff and a safe, genuine atmosphere. They have a lot of music events - live bands and festivals, disco.and karaoke. There's always a good selection of well-kept real ales and cider on draft as well as the usual lagers and bottles. More than happy to recommend.

Bar laid was very pleasant and efficient even complimentary when my boyfriend didn't notice my Purdue she did!.tall brown hair... Good job!

Not even a one star from me...my friends and I were out for an evening celebrating my birthday, we were playing pool, the landlord comes and puts all the balls in the pockets and takes the table away from us without saying a word to us, and then as some of my friends walk out he calls them c****!!! I have never experienced such appalling service from anyone and would not recommended this place to anyone! Great way to treat paying customers!
