Went here for a Sunday roast, we had a table booked with family. The roast was good but it took a long time to come. We did hear other people complaining about not being served or having to wait a long time. If you aren't in a hurry I would recommend going there as the building itself is amazing, so many quirky little rooms,

Very nice and friendly staff. My grandma is allergic to onions and garlic. They made the sunday roast with gravy and veg from scratch to accomodate her. Great food and venue.

Came here for Sunday lunch, food and service was good. Came here with my 9 month old and the way we came in was not pram friendly. Unsure if they have another entrance as first time coming here. Toilets for the restaurant in a desperate need of maintenance and upgrade.

Just home from having the best roast ever ! Even though they were super busy, they fit us In and we didn’t even have to wait long. Thanks to Michelle, Ruiz and all the team for another fab Sunday !

My family went for my birthday/Christmas meal out 14 of us it was very nice all staff were helpful and friendly nothing to much trouble with the 4 little ones ! Food was delicious, and plenty of it will definitely go there again *****

Poshest man of Somerset found us a table on a busy Friday eve, we went for the jackfruit burger and the vegan burger. We found the portions very big and the burgers definitely seemed home made and delicious. Proper meal! The place is a labyrinth and fun, the bar seemed lively. Thanks

November 9, 2024 Restaurant review: WOW WOW WOW! My husband and I were taken to this place by 2 friends of ours (locals) for the restaurant. And how I enjoyed it! There is only one dish from my mother that still makes my mouth water while eating, and thanks to this restaurant I was the only one able to experience it elsewhere! The steak is great! Especially a very nice concept with such a “hot stone”. You can decide for yourself how you want your steak. I personally had “the sirloin steak with garlic sauce.” As I write this review, I immediately want to return from the Netherlands. We will be back soon when we are in Frome! The service was also great! Were very quick, and also came for a chat. I have one word: it was beyond amazing! Don't hesitate and do it!

Perfect family meal for 10 people- food and service both 5/5 Highly recommend to anyone! Food- huge choices and caters for everyone and really good produce and cooked and presented beautifully. Atmosphere really good, service good! Prices as expected and worth it, waiting time, good and all food came out together. Nothing to complain about, even let us bring our own Birthday cake and provided crockery, plate’s and napkins. Thank you for a fantastic meal and evening.

I'm a complete roast snob, I'm quite critical when it comes to food and I must admit this is quite frankly one of the best roasts I've ever had!!! Beef was lovely, roasties were well seasoned and crispy, the carrots were absolutely delicious and I want to know what they cooked them in! The yorkies were amazing and the gravy was plenty and well seasoned. Cauliflower cheese that actually had substance and tasted of cheese, overall a bloody good ad-hoc drop in and would highly recommend to anyone! Staff were amazing, very attentive, efficient and good above and beyond. Five stars from us.

I have been eating food from The Old Bath Arms since 2020, The food is excellent, the staff are so helpful and friendly. I started getting Sunday lunches deliverd when COVID was around and never looked back. Whether it’s Sunday lunch to take away or to dine at The Old Bath Arms you will not be disappointed as the food is fantastic. Sunday lunches are great, there is asking a fantastic menu of other dishes to choose from. I would recommend trying this fantastic place.

Our top pick for food in Frome, especially a Sunday roast! Always wonderful food and service. Kath & Rich are wonderful hosts and all of the staff are a joy. We took friends who have never been before and they were bowled over by the food and exceptional service. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area especially those with families.

Hands down, the best roast dinner around. We had the vegan roast and a roast lamb roast in the bar. Came with massive Yorkshire puds, roast potatoes, roast veg and a side of sweet mash, cabbage, cauliflower cheese and gravey. Staff are very friendly and fast service. Would highly recommend.

Amazing roast beef and trimmings, fantastic service and great value

Went to the Bath Arms for a quick bite of lunch. The food is always excellent and this didn’t disappoint. The welcome from Cathy, Michelle and the team is always so warm and friendly. Today I had the prawn cocktail which was so fresh with great quality ingredients and reasonably priced. Tavis’s prawns were especially large and juicy! All in all an excellent place for a drink or a meal.

Had the best experience of having my first black rock steak here. Service was impeccable. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Food was 10/10. I had the pleasure to meet the manager there, she was so delightful and helpful with information visiting frome and the surrounding areas.

We drove from Swindon to The Old Bath Arms in Frome for Andy's 60th birthday dinner as we have been here 3 times previously and this is the best place for a steak. The food is outstanding quality - the black stone rump steak you can cut with an ordinary knife as it is so tender and not one piece of fat on the steak. The price for this outstanding steak is much lower than it should be and on the day, it was buy 1 get 1 half price. everything served with the steak was great too. We all had dessert, all homemade and £5.95 each which in this day, is very reasonable. The homemade crumble and custard was to die for. On top of all of this, the service is brilliant too, the staff are so friendly. If I lived closer to Frome, I would be eating and drinking here more often.

Turned up as walk ins for a late lunch and were welcomed in and allowed to choose where we wanted to sit. All staff were very friendly and polite, ensuring we had everything we needed. Sunday lunch was delicious 🤤 and plenty of it. They don't sell you short in the portions. Unfortunately didn't have any room left for a dessert this time but very happy with our lunch and service received. Will definitely be back to have one of their famous black rock steaks 🥩

Ate here while staying in Frome. Incredibly big meals. Ate on a Friday night it wad packed out. Only thing didn't like was food items all on separate containers and the plate too eat on was totally impractical...but hey that is the trendy way these days!

The staff at the restaurant were incredibly accommodating and managed to find us a table for 10 at the last minute. They went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great dining experience. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious. Each dish was prepared with care and attention to detail. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. The menu had a wide variety of options to suit everyone's tastes, and the portion sizes were generous. The chef clearly takes pride in their work, and it definitely showed in the quality of the dishes. Overall, we were extremely impressed with the service and the food at this restaurant. It was the perfect way to end our day at Longleat. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

The food here is amazing value for money. Sunday roast is a food challenge! It’s served well after all the other pubs have stopped serving too. We ate at 5pm. We will be back.

what a great restaurant and pub the food spot on we had black rock rump steak really good and tapas chilli prawns salt and pepper ribs and best of all I mean best sticky belly pork the taste spot on

Came here today to see the market and to see where Hubby grew up here in Frome. Popped in here to have a meal. Wow is all I can say. The menu is full of choice. The portions are very generous. The steak and Stilton pie was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. ♥️The staff are friendly. Looking at a view a month ago... Yeah it is busy. Pubs do get busy.. 😂 It's a public house. Nether the less. Hubby and I enjoyed it here and if you like your meat and fish... This is the place. X. Thank you. X

Nice staff - Well maintained lines and a nice pint. Reasonably priced and some great screens to watch sport as well as a nice seated area for food or large groups.

Had a great meal here - so much to choose from & quite interesting menu, goes with the quirky style. The decor has a lovely colourful mismatched feel - refreshing it doesn't look exactly same as everywhere else. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful, although busy. We all had burgers which were real meat, generously made & served with side salad (delicious) & choice of chips. We were all stuffed after that & didn't need dessert.. I would recommend this place for the food, atmosphere & service and will come back next time in Frome. The burgers are around £17-18 or less, & lots of other steak, tapas etc on menu. Looks a bit uninviting from outside at the moment, due to scaffolding but I'm glad we took no notice of that - best meal out in a while!

Not for families or vegan/vegetarians. We arrived early as our kids eat around 5pm. We came here based on reviews but really wish we hadn’t. The atmosphere is very claustrophobic. If there is even 1 loud group the whole area fills with the noise. With kids this was far from ideal and we had to move due to the language from a certain group (obviously not the restaurants fault). The food however took a very long time to arrive. I had to give my kids snacks and then chase the waiters to find out how much longer we needed to wait. The food looked great. But the vegetarian steak was far too salty and so we didn’t even eat it. The kids pizza was rock hard and my son was unable to bite into it. My burger was soggy. Overall it was a poor experience. The price I find very top end. I have been to many London restaurants and never seen a burger priced so highly. When the bill came we were overcharged too, so that had to be amended. Definitely not worth the money. It’s a shame as the owner seemed lovely.

Wide variety of food available along with a good choice of drinks. Black Rock, steak on a stone was superb and highly recommended for meat lovers. Special lasagne was equally good according to Mrs C. Friendly, helpful staff in quirky surroundings makes for a good atmosphere and an altogether enjoyable experience. Thank you.

We literally stumbled upon this as a few restaurants in Frome are closed on a Monday night. We had the Black Rock rump steak, very sceptical as rump can be tough. However. It cut like butter! Comes with loads of sides included in price. Was absolutely delicious, you cook on a stone as yourself, but it was easy. Thoroughly recommend. The staff were delightful. Some were in training, but very helpful. Would definitely come again If in the area. 2 cocktails for £12. Barman on the night very chatty & helpful. A great experience. Well done!!

Food was brilliant! Ribs absolutely recommended and fair price for quantity and quality but let down by service! We sat for half hour with our empty plates in front of us, no one available to flag down for the bill so we had to go find someone in the bar and then rudely told we weren't allowed to be there.

The environment by the bar has now changed and is now a bit crowded and a bit stuffy. The food is still top notch though.

Went looking for something to eat before a gig elsewhere in the town. Tried this pub on the off chance, luckily they were doing food early. Wow! Just wow! Brilliant quality, absolutely lush! So much of it that we had to ask for a doggy bag which the staff were happy to provide. Our visit would have been perfect if they'd had hand pumps for the beer rather than taps, but hey the food certainly outweighed that. We'll definitely be back next time 😃

I went with a friend for the BOGOF Steaks. We both had 12oz Rumps one with port and Stilton sauce the other peppercorn. and 3 x tapas of scampi, calamari,garlic and chorizo king prawns. The sweet potato fries are to die for. The quality of the food was outstanding. And the service was even better. Staff were attentive and even tho the football was on such a nice atmosphere. Thank you OBA, We will be back.

It was really busy today 4th Feb. Parking the slow service, the food was truly dreadful. Huge menu choices for vegan, but aside from the gravy, it was almost inedible. I had the vegan soy roast, my husband had the vegan nacho burger. Everything on the roast was microwaved or bone dry and flavourless. The vegan cauliflower cheese was awful and the cauliflower hard. The cabbage inedible and the potatoes congealed and soggy. The vegan roast comes with thick pancake style bread instead of a Yorkshire pudding and although this has a good flavour, it had been microwaved and so had gone rock hard (like bread does if you microwave it). The poor man at the bar where people paid (because you couldn’t get served at the table), was issuing apology after apology to disgruntled customers. It’s hard to understand why they were so busy, poor food, exceptionally slow service, and so many better offers in Frome. We wondered if they would be able to deliver against such a large menu and sadly it could not. We did raise the complaint with the staff before we paid, but expect an apology, it wasn’t resolved.

We had an overnight stay to attend a concert and also an early meal in the restaurant. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent

I LOVE the Old Bath Arms. It’s my favourite place for so many reasons. I eat all over and it’s very rare nowadays to feel like you are more than just a passing customer. The team are marvellous, and just bend over backwards to treat the clients like they are too. Food is great and the atmosphere is costly, welcoming and lovely. Oh and Michelle is ok too. ;) x

If anyone in hospitality business needs to experience/train staff on how to deal with customers and attend tables then come here and ask for Michelle. Even the owners attend to the tables sprinkling their friendly magic over the clientele. The Sunday roast 11/10 home made gravy made from the bones of the superb steaks served here, nothing is wasted. If they could bottle their hospitality they would be billionaires. Had a great evening out in Frome's Bath Arms for a proper sit down meal. After a little confusion on locating it's entrance (it shares one with Finiggans Bar), we were shown to our table. STARTERS: I had the Calamari & my wife had halloumi fries, both were generous servings, delicious & very reasonably priced! A great start! MAINS: I had there renowned black rock fillet steak with triple fried chips and a garlic sauce, my wife had a goats cheese topped burger with chippotts (¼er'ed roast potatoes turned into a chip somehow) which she loved. I did not think the black rock plate would stay hot enough to cook my fillet throughout my meal, but by the end of my meal, it remained hot to sizzle my steak to perfection ! Service was excellent, the atmosphere also great and the price for two we were very happy with. Will we go again! YES we will! It was our first visit and the reputation of this Bath Arms was fully validated and exceeded! Well done!

We live locally so we have not booked a room here but the food is exceptional! particularly the black rock steaks that are good value for money when it comes to food, this place is definitely a hitting gem and the staff some that have become familiar with us 😂 (as we try to go at least twice a month) are very friendly and down to earth I Think it’s a place that brings out of towners and towers together they offer a wide range of drinks/cocktails and the food menu always has a offer on.. if your in the area I highly recommend paying them a visit

Surprising pub! Great music, and atmosphere. From a plain exterior, to an ever inviting interior, it'll certainly leave you surprised. Amazing selection of drinks too!

Only ordered one course. Over an hour to get served 4 children with us who were almost feral having to wait so long. Not good enough especially for a pre booked table.

If I could rate this place 0 I would.the reviews I read all said it was a quirky pub.food very good etc etc..it was dirty not a nice place to go for a normal family.my pint glass was DIRTY,(excuse,it's been in the dishwasher)we left.the menu was nothing like the menu on the Web site.

We had lunch in the restaurant and the overall service was excellent. The portion size, presentation and customer service were all outstanding. We returned for Sunday lunch and again it was excellent.

Today we had a fantastic Sunday lunch. Hats off to the chef it was pretty damn perfect. We find it so hard to find a good roast, so we were blown away today with this roast. We have very high standards and not easily impressed. We were visiting Frome from Cardiff for the weekend. Only negative was that service was slow with the younger staff, that could be improved for sure. Also from the outside this pub does not look inviting, bordering on something from faulty towers. However on entering the interiors improve. The food was outstanding. So don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Thank you for making our Sunday.

A Promising evening let down by poor Service , a group of four our first time on Frome and our first outing to a pub/restaurant, on first glance it was looking like a great choice as there was plenty of choice on the menu , when we arrived we were asked where did we want to sit , having never been to the place we really didn't know , we ended up upstairs in a side room , not to bad , the waiter then took our drinks order 1 of which was asked what ciders do you have thatchers etc was mentioned including Blue Moon having never heard of a Blue Moon it was plumped for , turns out Blue moon is not a cider but a weird beer. Then it took forever for them to arrive. Meal orders taken nice and swiftly by a different service. These arrived quicker than the drinks. Food was acceptable not mind blowing , one question asked was what ingredients are in the vegan lasagna, answer was it's normal lasagna just vegan , confused,, we elaborate are there peppers in it ermmm was the answer let me ask the kitchen so on his earpiece he said kitchen come in no answer so he said it can be made without peppers if you like not convinced we asked for a clarification to which he came back with a resounding No it has peppers , so fish and chips was ordered , just before the food arrived the drinks finally got to us , all ok really. And then that was it didn't see another person couldn't ask for more drinks or desserts , so we waited and waited and finally when someone did show their face we pounced and got the bill. , a real shame as it could have been so nice but it left us with a bad Vibe staff should really understand the business they are working within and the menus on offer.

Sunday roast was lovely, however the slow service and overkill off clipboards for the more senior staff seemed almost laughable. We waited quite a long time for our food, had to go to the bar to fetch drinks as service was so slow and only received crayons for our younger ones in the party after asking 4 times!

The reasoning behind my 3 star 🌟 is only because I had a meal which was very succulent and beautifully served - Koodles to the chefs 👨‍🍳 for the marmite sirloin. On this visit it was for a birthday celebration. The location of the venue is a bit tricky for parking. Therefore, if you're a wheelchair user, good luck as there's next to no outside parking. The nearest is a carport in the town, which is a trek. The restaurant itself was very loud - full of other people which is alright but when you wish to have a quiet celebration the noise is overwhelming and it being in a small room makes it feel less comfortable to dine. The servers tried their best. However, one couldn't really understand our orders and would become flustered and forgetful.

Not the place to go if you have any desire to have a meal in under 1.5hrs. Took forever to place our order as they seemed to forget us. Others arrived after us and ate before we did. Over 40 mins from ordering to food arriving. It was very nice food but the speed lets them down. No one asked how it was, when taking the plates away didn't say anything other than have you finished.

Amazing Pizza! A great pub with absolutely loads of choice on the menu, would definitely recommend. We didn't stay here so can't rate rooms, however it does look like it would be a nice place to stay given the food was great.

First time today having lunch with a friend Enjoyed the meal Veg came separately. Roast potatoes were mmm Chicken breast wrapped in bacon was just right. I had the gravy separate tho l did not use much Mind you it came in a large aluminium dish. Staff was pleasant

If you're visiting Longleat or visiting the area definitely try this place. Friendly staff and a fantastic pub with multiple rooms and an all season terrace. The food was immense and I was not prepared for the size of it. Definitely recommend.

We visited last night for the 1st time...what a bloody find!!!!! Friendly efficient staff, and the food was bloody amazing!!! We had the rock steaks- outstanding- best I've had in a very long time!!! The Monkey Gland sauce is delicious- you must try it- highly reccomend!!! Desserts were also fantastic...we can't wait to come back and try everything else on the menu!!!!
