A big thank you to all the staff we had a lovely evening. Table was all set up and waiting for us as we arrived, large group of twelve and two dogs, we stayed in there large car park with seven campervans and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome by all the staff, quality food with a lovely atmosphere, would highly recommend a visit to anyone, will most definitely be back. thanks again Ken & large family

Perfect find while in area, food was fantastic no long waits even thought it was busy, lovely friendly staff (Sarah) will always visit when in area.

Staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive and the food was absolutely wonderful. Timing was great, food was brought out quick and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Will definitely be returning and recommending to friends and family.

First time we have been couldn't,t find anything wrong service was excellent as was food will be back for sure

The food was good but we would have been disappointed if paid full price for the main courses. Some dishes weren't hot enough. Service was appalling due to what seemed a shortage of waiting staff. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated when the table was booked then waited over 40 minutes for our order to be taken. We were overcharged due to another tables desserts added to our bill in error.

Disappointed, it wasn’t busy but the wait between courses was 45 minutes. The standard of the food has deteriorated dramatically. The only saving grace was that the service of the staff, which was still exemplary.

We hadn't been to the Old Farmhouse before but will definitely be back. I had smoked haddock fishcakes and my daughter had calamari starter and crab cake starter. We were both delighted, the food was delicious and the staff couldn't be nicer. A lovely experience all round. Looking forward to our next visit! My photo doesn't do it justice .

We have just been to The Old Farmhouse pub with our 22 year old son who has autism and learning disabilities. He is clearly over 18 years of age, he had a 5 o'clock shadow! We wanted to order our son a pint of cider and were told we needed identification. The server taking our food order, reluctantly accepted that he is over 18 and took the order. 5 minutes later, someone, who we presume to be the manager (he did not introduce himself), came to our table and explained, that without age identification, our son was not being served alcohol. We left the premises. We are well aware, that a pub is allowed to ask for identification for young adults under the age of 25 years. However, I would question whether the other young adults drinking in the pub tonight had been asked for id. Our son is unable to drive and so does not have a driving licence and I am not in the habit of carrying his passport around with me. Staff need to learn about inclusion and the difference between being under the age to drink alcohol and looking innocent as a result of having learning disabilties. Needless to say, we will not be back.

Service and food both excellent. All meals were freshly made and just the right temperature when served. All cooked to a very high standard with lovely presentation. Overall look and feel of the dining area was excellent

Booked for my Mam's birthday. Mam is in a wheelchair and The Old Farmhouse is perfectly accessible with disabled parking and toilet. Staff were absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable, for example, the chef knew which country the seabass came from and took the time to entertain my 6 year old. Food was delicious as always and good value. There is a great gluten free selection and candles were even provided for the birthday pudding. Highly recommended

Visited 4th January 2025. Lovely pub / resturant on outskirts of Darlington quiet location. As soon as we walked in we where greated with a warm welcome. We ordered food and drinks. Sat down by a beautiful log burner with 1 degree outside. The food was delicious as was the drinks.the staff working here we very polite and curtious.as a bonus we were allowed to park our campervan in the very large carpark and stay the night. But you don't have to buy food to stay.we wanted to go in after reading the reviews.

Our family Christmas Day dinner was incredible. Vegetables that melted in your mouth and rich gravy. All our plates were finished and the quality equalled a high end restaurant in a village nearby. I can highly recommend this pub and the staff are quick and friendly.

Very bad! Can’t rate food or atmosphere as cancelled booking due to being overlooked and discriminated against. Booked a table, well in advance, in the festive area for a christmas meal only to be told that if a larger party booked we would be moved elsewhere, this area was booked as it was the most festive and has plenty of room for manoeuvre as one of our party uses a mobility scooter. We feel that we were not treated fairly or as valued customers and that greed had a hand in the managements decision. So much for the Christmas spirit

This is our favourite, go to venue in Darlington. We would have no hesitation recommending it others.

Lovely friendly staff, beautiful decor with a but…..If you have allergies the menu is a pain. I honestly couldn’t be bothered to go into another app to check every item before I chose and opted for the only thing I knew was safe for me. There’s more than just a vegetarian icon that can be placed on the menu to make it easier for us to check. I also object to being forced to pay a service charge. A Christmas party with a service charge added was a bit much. On the upside my drink was reasonably priced though.

Food was lovely as always, arrived on time, nice and warm. They forgot our extra portion of pigs in blankets and Yorkshire puds. Also no gravy, hence 4 stars not 5

We visit fairly regularly, often bringing along friends and other guests with us. We've never had a bad experience here - the food is always great, the service is very friendly and the pub always looks clean, comfortable and inviting. And our dog is always made a fuss of and made to feel welcome which we appreciate very much.

We love it here. Friday tea-time after work is our only time to spend an hour away from everything and this little gem is the best place to do it. The drinks are priced well and the atmosphere is great, for singles, couples, parties and dogs. We’ve only sampled the bar menu so far but it’s been top notch.

There were 14 of us on a team meal, the Old Farmhouse provided a lovely atmosphere, great service and the food was amazing.

2nd visit, both times we have found it to be really good, also very good value at 2 courses for less than £20 per person from the lunchtime menu. Food is always really nice and the staff are very friendly and attentive.

It's a lovely pub with great tasting food, a little more expensive than other places but it was worth the visit. Food is delicious, and the service was impeccable. Our server, Sarah, was very courteous, very smiley, and happy to help, very patient while I picked my food as I can be picky but she was very professional and told me to take my time and she'd be there when I was ready. All in all, a very pleasant meal out would definitely call again 😊

Very expensive and not a very friendly place

Best place I’ve ever been to for Sundays dinner. Absolutely stunning

Starting with price, pint of pravha and a draught pepsi £9.25, then a pint of prahva only at £5.20. that makes a draught pepsi £4.05 😮. Service: Had a table booked for 6 people. A lady came over to take our order when only 3 people were actually at the table. Eventually our orders were given; one of the orders was fillet steak and chips with clear instructions the only thing wanted on the plate was a piece of steak and some chips " no salad or sauce" arrived with tomato and lettuce ☹️. The food was good, no denying, but lots of room for improvement in other areas.

kebabs were really overcooked and the sides were not the greatest quality...this from a group of four who were quite easily pleased...usually.

Food was surprisingly decent for a chain pub, would happily visit again. Staff were a bit mixed, bar staff very friendly, restaurant staff were miserable and a bit haphazard.

The staff here were absolutely amazing, from the moment we walked in to the moment we left they could not do enough for us, please go if it's the last thing you do visit you will not regret it.

Food was good but not spectacular considering the price. Service from the waitress on duty was good but again, not spectacular. You advertise a 10% service charge for parties larger than 8, yet somehow managed to charge it to us, with no mention of it, until presented with the bill. This is something that seems to be becoming more prevalent in the hospitality industry and needs to stop. Tipping is and always was a gratuity, a way of thanking people for exceptional service, not a hidden cost to offset your wage bill. Whilst what we had was nice, I've paid less for better and not been hit with an extra 10% for no reason.

A real insider tip! Mega friendly staff, great food, great atmosphere! Our dog was also greeted and welcomed as a full guest! Just to feel good! Thank you for a cozy evening and a quiet night in the motorhome in the parking lot behind the house! That's how hospitality works! Every detour is worth it!

Spot on Sunday dinner and fish and chips. Took our elderly grandparents who were looked after impeccably and ate more food than I’ve seen them eat in ages. Alice was a legend! Looked after us brilliantly. Trio of Sunday Dinner is a 10/10. Will be back again next weekend!

We were looking for a pub stopover in our campervan in the area on our way home and found this little gem, what a stunning little find. Food was absolutely beautiful, I had the Moroccan chicken skewer and my partner had the signature burger. We couldn’t fault the service from Ellis , he was very friendly and helpful. We could also take our unfinished drinks back to our van to enjoy . We’ll definitely be back for another visit 😊

Th Old Farmhouse is a must for everyone. It is such a welcoming inn . The food is beautiful. Such a variety on the menu.

Second time been here now and the food is lovely, I was served by a lady called Emily, she was brilliant help and a really nice lady. Highly recommend.

We had Sunday lunch (3 meats ) with tea ,coffee and mini desserts which were all beautiful.

Was welcomed by two gent's who were both really friendly. Shown to a lovely table and was offered drinks. Had the passionfruit cooler which was absolutely lovely. Ordered the pork belly as a main which was honestly the best main meal I've had at a restaurant in a very very long time, if not ever. Husband had the chicken burger and also said it was the nicest chicken burger he's ever had. We are only in town for another day and we are heading back tomorrow for the same meal again! Great little gem of a place with outstanding food, drinks and brilliant staff. would 10/10 reccomend.

Decent food, poor service. Served by sultry waitress, clearly not enjoying her shift. Not asked once if we wanted any more drinks. Rest of staff were quite scruffy in their appearance. Shame as the food was good.

I am extremely disappointed in the management of this restaurant, We came in on Saturday to book a table for two for Christmas day lunch,we would have been happy with any sitting. We got told absolutely no availability. My relatives rang me up today Monday saying they'd got in,I rang back and got told we could have had a seating on Christmas day there was one at early lunch,lpm which my relatives got and they offered me ,3.30. I have already booked somewhere else now. But I cannot abide lying,. Which this was.

Visited for a meal as part of a group. When we arrived we didnt get show to our seat just told where it was (not the end of the world). We were sat for a while and then had to go to the bar to get our own menu, then go to the bar and order our drinks (any time we wanted a drink throughout the night). y first drink I requested the raspberry and orange blossom soda and what I was given was soda with dried raspberries in it. The next time I ordered ust orange blossom soda and was given the right drink for my first order. I ordered a pot of tea and I was asked by a waitress to grab the teapot by the bottom (obviously hot) to which me and the table I was sat at laughed and tried to just play it off but she stood there waiting for me to grab it... I had to explain that obviously a teapot is hot and I cant just grab it. Food was ok, very expensive for what it is. I had calimari and steak because they were sold out of what I actually wanted. The calimari was meh, bland in itself (I would argue frozen and pre-prepared just drop fried) and the sauce it came with smelled like antibac, I think its some sort of cajun mayo. The steak was cooked blue, as per request, and tasted nice, beef dripping sauce was gorgeous and the tomatoes were stunning. The chips however, again a guess, were frozen as 3 of mine and 2 of another guests were cold and hard in the middle. Oh and we didnt get asked if we wanted sauces, any top up drinks or anything like that. I think for a place with such high prices and classy interior, I expected a little more service. I felt like I was at wetherspoons but paying twice as much for the experience. Really put me off going back. For the same price you can go to beefeater over the road and get more food, unlimited drinks and be served your items rather than ordering them yourself at the bar.

My husband and son had belly pork which they loved but i had fish and chips which wasnt so good. The fish didnt taste like haddock and was thin and tasteless.

Welcoming atmosphere, got greeted with a smile and shown to our seats Friendly service Amazing Sunday dinner, lashes of gravy, quality food. Dog friendly. The apple crumble was delicious. The only improvement we would suggest would be the quality and amount of crackers that were served with the cheeseboard and don't forget the butter :-) Update: We've now been back a few times as we just can't get enough of their Sunday dinners. It is amazing every time. We have also tried other dishes which don't disappoint, especially the steak! The Old farmhouse has quickly become our favourite venue to eat and relax in, knowing our dogs are welcome and the service is great! :-)

The atmosphere is incredible and the staff is very friendly. They also have a children's menu, which is very important to say at an affordable price. I ordered a passion fruit martini, which I really liked the flavor and also the eggplant is not bad. I would like it.l wish they had ymore variety on the menu but in general very good service😀

Beautiful Sunday lunch. Slightly higher price than your average but worth it. The veg was super fresh, the service was quick and friendly and the whole meal was delicious.

Just what you want. Nice atmosphere, excellent service and the nicest Sunday lunch (I had the pork belly and was excellent) tender and crispy at the top. They also do a mini desert version, where for the price of a pudding you get a hot drink and a mini pudding. Try it you won’t regret

I was served by Sarah who was very friendly and welcoming! The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, very traditional and cosy! Would highly recommend!

Called in here whilst visiting a very good friend. It is a little out of the way but worth the trip. We were greeted warmly and shown to a free table. The service was very friendly and prompt. The choice of food was great, so I had the pork belly, it was excellent and finished off with a very nice sticky toffee pudding. The was also an amazing pavlova, the likes I have not seen before which I will be ordering upon my next visit. Would I go again, definitely

We were a big party of 13 for an 80th birthday celebration. While they were very busy in the rest of the restaurant, they still maintained outstanding service. Food was excellent, very attentive staff and overall a relaxing atmosphere. Can not recommend highly enough. Love the hot drink and mini pudding option. Just right! Thank you.

Had dinner and it was good. Food was tasty and well presented. Service nice, but a bit slow. Overall a good experience and will go back there.

Four of us went here for lunch...The menu is Gorgeous...lots of wonderful choice and the service was out of this world......served by Emily who was so friendly.....nothing was too much......Fab Fab 👌.
