Probably the best Fuller’s pub I’ve been to. The selection on tap is mostly the same as you’d expect, but The Old Joint Stock Pub stands out for a few reasons: The bar staff were really friendly and welcoming, which is always a pleasant surprise for Londoners visiting other cities in the UK—and definitely appreciated. The food was also great.. Classic pub food done well and with an interesting twist - we had the macaroni bites, chicken and roast potatoes with marmite, plus a cub sandwich, washed down with Frontier and Guinness. The pies looked great too. Despite being a city centre pub, it had a relaxed vibe with excellent service bringing the food to the table, cutlery, etc. It’s clear they take service seriously. Another unique aspect of the pub is the theatre upstairs, which adds to the uniqueness. Even though it’s owned by a brewery chain, it has its own distinctive style. The decor is well thought out, with a lovely connection to its history, and there are no TVs or other elements that can ruin classic pub old interiors. The other customers were a mix of colleagues after work, dates, and small groups of people— all respectful. There was a nice buzz about the place, but it wasn’t hectic or frustrating to get served. We stayed for about an hour and a half and had a great time.

This is a great pub, but the food to value link appears to be widening, with what I perceive to be smaller potions at greater cost. That is a shame as this place has a lot to offer.

After seeing The Old Joint Stock Pub & Theatre on social media we just had to visit. As soon as you walk through the door, the decor and huge glass dome above takes your breath away. The decor is very opulent. We dined on the upper floor. The food was very well presented and the pie for two to share was super tasty. One of us has dairy allergy and the staff were very attentive and pointed out various dishes which had certain dairy requirements. I would give more stars if I could. All round, our visit was perfect in every way. A big thank you to all staff and I can guarantee that we will return 😀

As it was my 50th birthday , my husband had booked a room (The Office) where my family and I could eat and kick off our NYE celebrations. Sharon was amazing : she was friendly , helpful and gave us the best customer service I have had in a long time. The food was also delicious , there was great music and a wonderful atmosphere. Please do let her know that we were very grateful - I will be recommending your venue to my colleagues, friends and family.

A Night of Missed Food (and Opportunities) We arrived at the pub ready for a good meal, only to be greeted by… no one. Not a soul in sight to help us with our booking, but no problem – we’re resourceful. After a quick game of “Guess Where Your Table Is,” we found it a few feet inside the door. Easy win. There was a chap standing with the door team after we took a seat, who I kindly informed of our arrival. He soon appeared with a colleague to clear the table and gave us the rundown – pay as you go or start a tab. Simple. So far, so good. I remembered the food being fantastic from my last visit a few years ago. Naturally, I was thrilled to introduce my South African family to some solid British fare. The lack of children’s menus wasn’t ideal, but my daughter’s love for pizza made the discovery of one on the menu a small victory. Then, the wheels came off. While placing the order, we were told that we’d been handed the wrong menu – no Beef Shin for us. Odd, since the menu was on the table, outside the pub, and still online. Apparently, Beef Shin disappears with Christmas spirit. But surely someone could have told the menus? It’s not like they update themselves. No problem – steaks all around. Now, the starters were the opening act of disappointment. Truffled mac & cheese croquettes that tasted suspiciously like something from the frozen aisle at Iceland, bland butternut squash soup that lacked any squashy enthusiasm, and beer-battered squid that should’ve come with a free drain unblocker for all the oil. The traditional Scotch egg was the lone survivor – although maybe it just looked good compared to everything else. Mains didn’t fare much better. The fish pie arrived lukewarm, the vegetables were… let’s just call them minimalist, and the parsley sauce had developed its own little film, suggesting a long and lonely wait for someone to love it. Spoiler: no one did. My daughter’s pizza resembled a flatbread with tomato paste and partially melted cheese. The garlic bread was essentially the same, just with a garlic overdose that could ward off vampires for the next century. She didn’t eat much of either, which, given the quality, was probably for the best. When the steaks arrived, confusion reigned again. The waitress wasn’t quite sure whose steak was whose, and one meal was missing entirely. The steaks themselves? Tough, unseasoned, and colder than the pub’s atmosphere (which, incidentally, was so chilly that most customers kept their jackets on). Chips – also lukewarm. I have a sneaking suspicion the waitress loitered in the kitchen for a bit before deciding our food was “fine, actually” and brought it over as if nothing had happened. The toilets added another level of charm – toilet roll carpeting the floor, dangling seats, and hand-washing stations that could double as a swimming pool. A quick check-in from staff at any point would have gone a long way. £300 later, we were less than thrilled. When we raised the issues, we were offered a free round of drinks – which, while nice, wasn’t really the problem. Eventually, a £50 discount was given, but honestly, it felt more like a courtesy wave than a sincere apology. It’s such a shame – the venue itself is stunning, and the drink selection is top-notch. With just a little more attention to detail, this could have been a great experience. I’d appreciate if someone could reach out regarding this visit – a proper refund or compensation would be more fitting given the state of our meal.

Being a Friday afternoon close to Christmas, it was incredibly busy, but the atmosphere was friendly and staff working so hard. We managed to get a table so then decided to stay put for a while. Excellent selection of beers wilth a range of Fullers and guest beers. We especially enjoyed the Twelve Days of Christmas Porter (Hook Norton) and HSB (Gales)....loving the dark bees, which are not always so easy to find in pubs. Menu seemed reasonable, and food was average.. had veg pie, burgers, and a small plate. Would return especially for the setting and beers, maybe not so much for the food.

We were rudely kicked out of the pub ~15 minutes after paying for drinks without being told they were closing early for a special event. No one apologized for the miscommunication, claiming it was their most popular night of the year, while zero people were waiting outside of the pub for the supposedly popular event. In fact, we ran into some people outside waiting to come in for drinks, let them know what was going on, and they happily left the area with us. It was super special being prompted repeatedly to leave with no warning while the women in our party were using the restroom. Great service 👌🏼 Also someone tripped and fell on an unmarked step while we were in the pub so be careful if you ever decide to drink here.

I am genuinely in shock at how awful our meal was today. Firstly, 5 out of 6 of our orders were either disgusting or wrong. The adults menu burger (which is £18 near in mind) was the tiniest burger I’ve ever seen. It had no toppings in it aside from cheese and lettuce: the burger was also burnt. One of our party’s main came out with no cauliflower cheese. Two other party member’s food came out stone cold and we weren’t even offered any compensation. The photos speak for themselves. Awful.

Why didn’t I complain you may wonder? Well nobody came to ask if everything was okay, the place was heaving, I was starving then ( and when we left 😂 ) and we were on a time schedule to be somewhere else so no time to eat something different… Bad choice for me but maybe if it was a bit more substantial and cooked so the meat was edible it would have sufficed…

We visited here for dinner in the pub before seeing a show in the theatre. It was a busy Saturday night and the place was packed. It was loud but with a good atmosphere and the service was very efficient and friendly. There is a great selection on the food menu. They also catered brilliantly for my sister's complex dietary restrictions (no gluten, dairy, oils, garlic, onion or seasonings - everything plain). She contacted them in advance and received a very positive response saying they would be able to cater for her. They followed all of her requests and she received a meal that she was able to eat in full. There was no fuss, it was well presented and everything was kept plain as requested. I enjoyed the chicken pie with triple cooked chips, which was very tasty. We didn't have time for dessert but if I come again I definitely want to try the scones with clotted cream. We also enjoyed the show upstairs. Such a quirky, fun venue with kind, attentive staff. Thank you!

Go to place for lunch time meetings - usually have pies, they're decent, but stay clear of the chicken sandwich was like chewing on a tire iron horrid (how can you get a chicken sandwich wrong!?).

Staff are wonderful except for supervisor who belittled and screamed at staff for making mistake with my order which I personally did not complain about as it was busy and did not want to cause fuss. If you want to see a bitter woman yell at young staff for minor inconvenience then this is the place for you. Apart from the fiasco, food was okay for price. Building is beautiful and rich with history as the nicer staff told me it used to be a library and then a bank before it became a pub.
