The Old Thameside in Southwark

Stopped serving us drinks. My Asian friends visiting were respectful and didn’t create a problem ruckus. When I asked why, the old guy didn’t give a reason, just looked at my friends. Seemed a little racist. Decided to respect their decision anyway as, I didn’t want to give people like this more business. Not a nice experience, would understand if a reason was given, instead of just a blunt ‘no’ and dirty look to the table.

Nice tourist place on the river Thames. We always pop in for a drink when doing a bit of a pub crawl along the river. It's a nice pub and always busy whatever time of the year you go. I've never managed to find a seat. Maybe I need to stay longer than one drink though. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are polite but busy so not much interaction.

Great location and atmosphere. Service used to be better over summer. Kids behind the bar are friendly but could use menu training, and I'm sure I caught the manager on a bad day because he gave me very poor service the last time. Usually a decent visit still.

Went for a christmas party, food was excellent and beers fiesty and full of life! Couldn't recommend higher

Took my husband there for his first Sunday Roast. The views are great and the staff is wonderful!!

Good riverfront place both for views and environment, but also for kindness and hospitality. Really a comfort typical English dinner, assisted by a very kind and smiling waitress. To be recommended

Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Massive portion and proper tasty. Superb value for money. Came here on a birthday day out and was very surprised two of us could eat like that at lunchtime at a location like that for so little. Definitely coming back next time I'm in town.

This spot is absolutely fantastic, offering both a wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. Every time we find ourselves in London, it’s a must-visit on our itinerary. It has become one of our favorite places, and we always look forward to coming back for another amazing experience!

This was my family’s first time visiting London and we had a fantastic time. The food and drinks here were yummy and a good price. Leonie was a fantastic waitress and so helpful. Would come back!!

Great vibrant pub on the south of the Thames, great beer on draught, friendly staff, plenty seats outside taken in the great view of London.

Staff were very nice and doing their best but the food was terrible, they were hugely over capacity and it took 2hrs to get our mains out. I complained and was given a £20 voucher but I won't be going here ever again

For a touristy part of town this pub still has great character, good selection of beers, and a helluva view of the river

This place is excactly as described. We sat by the window with a perfect view on the Thames and the city. This old english freehouse proposed an excellent fullwarming pie and delightfull fish and ships. And of course good beers. The staff was so nice and joking with us. I fully recommand if you want to experience the warmth of an english pub.

My favourite pub in London! Great food, great views of the city

First time visiting this pub. I had always had this idea that this pub was dark and never visited it before. But it completely changed my mind after the visit. It is nice and welcoming, the staff is nice and it's very clean. It didn't have loud music and even if the tables are a little cramped, it didn't feel like it we were seating on top of eachother. We only had a few drinks and a great chat. But I noticed that there is a section where you can have a meal in peace. And the food looked and smelled great. They have tables outside, but with this weather the review on them will have to wait a little while longer. See you next time for an update.

We had a disappointing experience at this chain pub. 🐌❌ The service was super slow, and the prices were way too high. 💸 The nachos we ordered were stale and unappetizing. 🤢 We ended up leaving and going somewhere else for our main course.

Very nice place with a view on St Paul’s Cathedral and the City. The staff is very lovely and the atmosphere of the place as well. It was fully decorated for Christmas! Recommend 😊

Fantastic little pub I've been going here for the last 8 years. Gorgeous food, which (is always filling) at a reasonable price. Some drinks are on the pricey end, which is a shame as I only have 1, maybe 2 drinks there. But overall, it was a lovely pub. I would definitely recommend it, with a beautiful view of the river Thames.

Friendly staff who are quick to serve and very welcoming. Great views across the river. The food was good, classic pub fare.

Stopped in here after a trip to the market. Had a few beers. Very stylish space and the surrounding area has so much to see.

The place is really cosy and the staff, especially Alex the manager was extremly nice, helpful and friendly and made sure we had a great time. I will definitely come back.

We visited here with our children for a day out and I can't possibly fault the service we received the staff where amazing the food was awesome it was quick everyone had a great time. we had brought our dog along for the day they accomodated a table outside because we didnt realise we couldn't bring him inside with us there wasn't anything that was too much for the staff here . what a day we had thank you for making it that little bit more special . We had a nice meal for a reasonable price. They looked after us. A special thank you to our host Christos. It was a good "shelter" from the bad weather. We visited for the first time and no doubt we will visit again.

Booked a table for lunch with my family and from the start until we left service was great and made sure everything was alright. Bit pricey but totally worth it for the location

I am a frequent visitor to this place. There is a lovely young Australian girl, Emily, who works in the restaurant area and she is fabulous for looking after us. This visit we tried the new Rabbit pie option which was a nice surprise. It was a Friday lunchtime so all tables were busy but I love it.

Big and busy pub right by the river Thames and golden hind in borough market. Good selection of ales and fast service. Would definitely come back

Situated in a great location on the south bank of The Thames. Bar staff weren’t very friendly or welcoming, hence only 3 stars

i went in the pub attempting to enjoy my night. While sitting down i was being intently watched by a very rude women, who in fact was a member of staff. Not only was i with my parents but i was also with my friends and i felt very scared and alone. This experience did not only scar me but left me with fear to enter any pub ever again. I would definitely not recommend this terrible place and would say go to the Anchor, a 2 minute walk down the Thames. This has left me not only scared to enter a pub again but also left me depressed and singled out from my family and friends.

I love this pub, it always has a wonderful lively atmosphere, right by the River Thames and of course it is never easy to get a table outside because it's a very popular spot. Plenty of seating inside and outside, good meals and great service (everyone working very hard to meet customer's needs and expectations). Considering location and the amenities I think it is very reasonably priced, will certainly come back again and recommend to anyone! ☆☆☆☆☆

Waiting over 45 minutes for pub food just does not seem right. I like Nicholson's pubs but I wouldn't come back to this particular one! Also once the food has been served it was not even hot.

Amended from an earlier review that somehow was left via Google assistant. Had drinks here and it was a nice atmosphere right on the edge of the river. Staff friendly, not too busy.

Wonderful outdoor balcony seating made up for the average fish pie. The food tasted slightly better than it looks. If you can get a seat outside it’s worth a pint!

Good position on the Thames, big inside, with plenty of outdoor space. Staff are just trying to serve as many people as possible so no real interaction just pour and pay not even a smile…. Very very expensive . £24.18 for 3 pints. Go elsewhere if you want a proper pub experience

Came across by accident but lovely pub right next to the Themes near Borough Market

The pub is located right next to the river bank and feels relaxing if you're planning to have a pint and enjoy the view of the river.

I had the best chicken burger I think I have ever had here, although it might have been a mix between the outside seating overlooking the Thames and the amazing London architecture, the people around having a great time and the food. The only thing that was disappointing was they rang the bell for last orders and then told us 5 minutes we needed to drink up. Maybe someone forgot to ring the bell for last orders.

Spent a lovely weekend summer afternoon here with a friend on the terrace. There was table service which was brilliant, friendly staff. Drinks were good, chips were nice but we didn't have a big meal so can't comment on food.

The staff were excellent throughout the time we were there. They were attentive polite and made the experience much better.

Lovely place for a drink, with The Golden Hind in dry dock, and overlooking the Thames, good for a night out. Up on Clink Street, a short walk from London Bridge station, the only downside is the London prices. I was only drinking, so I can't comment on the food. A bonus was a nice selection of dark ales, the Tribute was lovely.

I think the food is ok! It just the manager or the owner is just a bit rude. Sorry I brought a drink from borough markt and he shout out me and told me to get out! I explained to him and said im so sorry I am pregnant and I just brought a healthy fresh juice. And he just said ok but you can’t come in with that drink. Out! (With a bit loud voice!) I felt so embarrassed because there’s another customer there. I think first my mistake to brought a juice but he can tell me with politeness. “Ma’am I’m sorry as per policy of our restaurant you are not allowed to bring a drinks here.” We are foreigner of His country. And maybe we don’t understand some policy. So please treat your customer with some respect.

Saturday lunch with the family. I like this pub very much and have always enjoyed a drink or a bite to eat. Today though it was very disappointing - the food is expensive so one would expect a corresponding quality but the dish I had, a fish and scampi combo (£21.50), had uncleaned scampi tails with the intestinal tract still in the food under the batter on all scampi pieces... Absolutely unacceptable for this price. So disappointing.

Very nice riverside pub. They let us sit for dinner at 9pm with an 11 year old girl after they had refused us at the nearby The Anchor pub despite the reservation because the little girl couldn't stay after 9pm. Excellent food and very friendly staff
