The Park bar in Glasgow City

Unos cuantos compañeros y yo nos dirigimos a Escocia para ver al Rangers enfrentarse al Dundee United en Ibrox. Todos somos fanáticos del West Ham y los chicos de Londres que tienen un deporte suave para los Rangers, así que usa eso como nuestra excusa para reunirnos y dirigirnos a Glasgow de vez en cuando. Nos aventuramos en el Park Bar el viernes y sábado por la noche, ya que estaba a la vuelta de la esquina de nuestro hotel, completamente ajeno a que era un pub para los de las Islas Escocesas, y tengo que decir, que fue fantástico. Noche uno nos emborrachamos bastante. Había un tradicional folk mal jugando por la noche y el pub estaba lloviznando, pero el personal del bar era amable y el servicio era rápido. También pudimos charlar con algunos clientes, y de nuevo sin ningún conocimiento de que estábamos en un pub de los isleños. Noche dos, regresamos, esta vez después de unas cervezas en varios pubs en el camino. Como pedimos en el bar, un gran muchacho en el bar nos preguntó qué estábamos haciendo allí, pero se apresuró a decirnos que éramos bienvenidos, solo que no estaban acostumbrados a que los ingleses bebieran en el Park Bar. Fue entonces cuando el gran tipo (todos parecen ser 6 pies 2 +! ) me aconsejó que hay tres pubs en Glasgow que son predominantemente frecuentados por personas de las islas escocesas. Después de lo que puede haber parecido como una hora más o menos de él hablándome de la cultura de las islas (estaba realmente interesado) , también nos enteramos de que los clientes parecían favorecer fuertemente al Celta, así que ten cuidado con cualquier fanático de los Rangers que encabezan que puede que no seas tan bienvenido una vez que algunos descubran que eres un fanático de los Rangers. Dicho esto, para ser claros, no se nos hizo sentir indeseables en ningún momento. ¿Volvería a beber ahí? Por supuesto. ¿Creo que podría ser desagradable si eres fan de los Rangers? -Sí.

It was a last drink stop after my birthday day out. My first visit there and found it to be a traditional type pub. Staff friendly and pub cosy.

Tenía muchas ganas de volver aquí con parientes y amigos de la costa oeste, ya que un amigo de la familia estaba tocando en una banda más tarde esa noche. Tuvimos una charla con la señora del bar que anteriormente era de Stornoway a la llegada, tenía algunas bromas amistosas con los ocupantes de mesas adyacentes (ligeramente fuerte para ser escuchado como bar está rebotando) y todos estaban teniendo una gran noche, sin embargo, cuando dicha señora del bar terminó su turno una señora más joven detrás de la barra nos informó que no nos servirían más bebidas. Sorprendido por esto le pregunté si pensaba que estábamos borrachos a lo que ella respondió que no, he sido instruido por la gerente. Le pregunté si estábamos haciendo demasiado ruido para darnos la oportunidad de calmar lo que la respuesta fue nuevamente no, pero bajo instrucciones ella ya no podía servirnos.

Nice friendly helpful staff, even phoned a taxi for my wife and I to get home 😊.

Tend to visit when I'm heading to events but it's always a happy warm place to be. My knee or hand are always jigging with the music. Lovely place to stop in for a wee dram!!

Great Island Bar, with Island music

Muy atmosférico highlander y bar de isleños con música en vivo. Probablemente es lo que mucha gente del extranjero tiene en mente para experimentar en pubs en Escocia, pero en realidad no son a menudo así.

Nice bar . Priced is what you expect for an Ice t. "no food was served". Been served with a smile. Music in background not to loud. Floors n seating is well maintained. An comfy. Wanted a wee change from my usual local..

Fun place with great staff and guests. Enjoyed tasting whiskey and a Guinness.

Great wee bar, popped in on the way for the train home, owner was so lovely and let us bring the dogs in to. Never had food. Wish it was nearer centre of town. Loved it, hope to be back soon x

2nd time visiting, again about 4ish, still a great wee bar. Well stocked bar that's reasonably priced. Clean toilets, plenty seating and some outdoor tables and chairs. Very handy if attending events at Kelvingrove Park like me. Has a small stage that host traditional Scottish music most nights. Will be back again, my local for kelvingrove. 👍

Irish pub in Glasgow, under 6 quid a pint so a relatively cheap round for a cozy spot on Argyle street, no nonsense friendly staff and decent atmosphere ✊🏽

Stopped here for a few drinks after a gig at the hydro. Had a good atmosphere mid week.

Excellent local pub! This was a short walk from our hotel and was our first pub visit in Scotland and it was perfect! Quick drink service, friendly staff, and clean inside! Would absolutely come here again!

Rather rowdy and chavy crowd, if you want a nice date night, try to avoid weekends, during the week this place is not bad. Weekends another story.

Authentic Scottish bar, lovely atmosphere. Hasn't changed one bit. Staff and surroundings as friendly as ever. Can't fault the place at all.

Had a blast here two years ago, a reunion of sorts there, and wanted to come back today for a drink. Today, they wouldn’t let my uncle in for walking funny. Explained the situation, he has a medical condition. They asked us to not call this discrimination, and to understand that their jobs are really hard. Door people should lose their jobs for utter incompetence. This is nothing but discrimination against a person with a disability. A quick explanation from seven other people, sober, and walking perfectly fine, should have cleared the situation up within minutes. Door people, however just stuck to their initial assessment, and probably would have if my uncle had brought his MD to the door. Shame on you!!

Horrendous, turned away at the door by Beth the steward at around 8pm says my wife and I who are in our fifties had too much to drink, we had been in the Islay Inn for 2 drinks prior to this. God knows what she thought we'd do sober at our age lol. Was going to have a family get together in the Park bar soon but not now and won't be back

Really awful bar staff, especially the lady in charge (mmm), no concept of customer service...ignorant, rude and oddly self entitled. She should be fired!

Good pub, decent pint of Guinness. There was a jam session in the corner of fiddle/pipe players on before the main entertainment, which was perfect background level.

BRILLIANT, That's all you need to know

Some old friends from uni and I popped in here after eating at unalome down the road. It was completely packed. It was early evening and we had just wanted somewhere we could get a drink and a seat. We sat perched on some spare stools with no table. The only reason we settled was it had more space than all the other bars. It was a mistake. We all fancied wine but sadly they only have those 187ml bottles with a limited selection. The bar is pretty traditional. However we were luckily thwarted for wasting more money as the really rude bar lady refused to serve me. For no good reason aside from dislike. She accused me of being too drunk, it was 6pm. I was a little taken a back because I’m no spring chicken, it was 6pm and the bar was full and she was really horrid so I felt humiliated and like I had done something wrong. I had to go back to my friends and explain the situation. We all left and were immediately served alcohol with no issue. I was going to come on here and leave a bad review to warn others but see from the reviews I’m not alone and the manager is renowned for this terrible behaviour. And no action taken. It made me feel slightly better but I have no idea why she can still work there. She clearly just uses her power to pick on people she takes offence to. Hardly hospitality. Avoid avoid …… unacceptable even on Halloween.

Is lovely Gaelic bar in the west end of Glasgow is superb! I spent last week in the Kelvingrove & huntarian art galleries, and then my evenings in the Park Bar. I had chosen the Kelvin grove hotel, so the park bar was just around the corner, absolutely ideal. Winnie and Isla were lovely, I will return!

Saturday night with a band playing traditional Scottish music - they were excellent. Bar was well run and efficient!

Can only share my experience at the time I was in the bar which was 4pm on a Tuesday afternoon. Service was great, good friendly chatty barman, price was a bit expensive for my beer, but would like to revisit perhaps at a weekend, I think the atmosphere would be better.

Clean place to hide from the rain. Beer is good, space is big, beers are flowing. Nice to visit and meet up with friends. Did some reading while watching football. No food when I went, they only sold chips.

Excellent endroit pour y passer une bonne soirée entre amis. La bière y est bonne, le décor agréable et l'endroit est très propre. Il y a même des protections hygiéniques dans les toilettes des femmes ! Le jeudi soir c'est musique. Il y avait ce soir la un accordéoniste, une violoniste et un batteur pour jouer des morceaux traditionnels écossais. Ambiance garantie !

Excellent pub with live music 🎶 but the staff were a tad dour

This was my dad's local some 43 years ago, I never got a chance to go in , I took my daughter up to Glasgow from Leeds just to go in and have a drink. Had a ball the staff member was great and listen to my tale . It's was great to take my daughter to a place her grand dad went to.

Busy bar, attentive staff and fairly well priced for the area, was in to watch football and crowd was fairly reserved, only cheering when goals were scored. Great pub for a pint but not sure I'd go there to watch a game again.

It's a good venue, good atmosphere, but the beer and whisky range is very limited and boring.

Good pub in a good location. Prices very reasonable for West End - £4 for a pint of Tennants. Usually nice and quiet on weekday afternoons. Absolutely heaving on a Saturday night - but always plenty of staff on so no problem getting served. Nina and Winnie run a tight ship - highly recommend.

Very trendy, meaning, very noisy. Live music, but too noisy to hear it. We left after a few minutes and will not go back.

Very old pub with Hebrids vibes. Listening to Loch Lomond song was the best!!!! We had a wee taste of Hebridian gin and tonic.

Tienen música en vivo los jueves, viernes y sábado. El lugar tiene bien ambiente y es muy lindo. Típico pub Escocés. Lo que no me gusta es que sí quieres ver en las pantallas algún otro deporte que no sea fútbol no es posible. Sólo ponen chanclazos todo el tiempo y nada más.

Really nice atmosphere in the Park Bar. It’s cosy, comfy and casual. The kind of place where you can relax and have an actual conversation. Lots of seating and clean and tidy. Having always just passed this place before I’m glad I visited and will return again

Great live music on the weekends and a fun atmosphere to be a part of. Prices are a it more than other local pubs but cheaper than the high end ones in the Finnieston area. The bartenders can be a bit more straight forward and less chatty, but they do their jobs well and are friendly to newcomers. If you don't have a good sense of humor or sarcasm then the bartenders may be intimidating.

This bar has a great public house feel and a nice variety of drinks which normally would be just a good place to relax and plan our next move as tourists. But Nina and our favorite customer Sandy were great conversationalists so we stayed much longer than expected and had a fantastic time. Both are knowledgeable of the area so we got good information while we were there.

A really friendly place to spend a few hours.

Worst manageress I've come across . Told us she had worked there for 12 years, time for a career change if she hates the job that much! Rude and powermad, we won't be in a rush to return.

0/10 for hospitality Came in for a pre gig drink expecting the place to be welcoming and good craic. Couldn't be further from the truth. It was very quiet, another small group with a disabled chap in a wheelchair. They were also attending the gig . We were chatting and excited about the gig . A very brief sing song started and the wee crabbit barmaid started , as this is a live music venue I'm sure singing is common place, she accused all of us of being rowdy and apparently drunk. Then went outside to call someone ,loudly berating all the guests including the guy in the wheelchair . She was Completely over the top and on a power mad trip. All the customers left and were warmly welcomed in the islay Inn. Never again will we enter this pub and the owner needs to be made aware of how she behaves to paying customers .A Disgrace.
