As a Persian it is hard to find a decent Persian restaurant in Hull or not in Hull. However tonight i found the restaurant with a warm welcome and atmosphere, with service that is quick and simple. Also the most important part which is the food that is the reason i’ll be coming here every time. I recommend this place to any Persian that will be able to enjoy the taste of Iran and i recommend this place to any non-Persian because you will have a happy tongue.

I am a person with very high standards about any restaurant even in Iran I expect it to be exceeding my standards. It is hard to find a Iranian restaurant that makes me happy. But today I am a happy person with the taste of Iran in my mouth. The meat melts in my mouth like butter and is a high class quality meat and food. THIS DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.

The Persain. What a lovely and cosy restaurant. The host was very freindly,polite and helpful chosing pur dishes. The food choice was great. The food itself was well cooked and had lots of flavour. We had meatball starters and a persian salad Olivieh both where delicious. We had the meal for two which had 3 skewers on a flat bread with tomatoes. And had a ice cream with baklava and it was delicious too. Sorry I only took a picture of the desert i was very hunrgy. The waitress was very polite and friendly too You may bring your own booze here too. All in all our experience here was very good and we would come again.

We had some lovely food at the Persian last night. We both had starters, mine consisting of well flavoured meatballs and my associate and companion had an aubergine dish of which both were accompanied with flatbreads. For the main dishes I had a lovely mix of lamb and chicken kebab while compatriot and sidekick had a spiced Persian stew. Both came with really lovely well made rice and the flavours were just awesome. The gentleman that runs the restaurant and cooks as well, was very welcoming and brought us some oregano tea to finish the evening off. This was my first time at this very understated little restaurant but we will most certainly go again. I can’t wait already.

Had a great experience dining at the restaurant. Tried Kobdeih on the recommendation of the staff. Cooked to perfection and piping hot. It smelled so fresh. Loved it! Will come again and highly recommend. Edit: Tried for the fourth time today. Amazing taste. Taste has improved from the last time. Went again on 3rd September, and the taste was not great. Wanted to try some different food,wasn't disappointed food was very very good,staff lovely,we where all still confused by the menu though even after staff explained.We will try the food again in our lovely home as decor is as important to us as the food and this restaurant resembles an old mans shed which took the edge off our dining experience.

We ate at the Persian on 8/8/24. This was the best dining experience we have had in Hull. Firstly, the quality of service provided by our waitress was exceptional. She took time to introduce herself (Jam), explained the menu, answered our questions and told us about the culture behind the food. The chef (Ali) also made the effort to pop out and explain the specials, tell us about where he sources his ingredients and how he cooks them. We opted for the neck of lamb (special menu), the lamb and okra stew and the shish kebab with maze to start. There were three of us eating and portion sizes were generous. A special note for the neck of lamb...don't be put off by the name. It was the most tender, beautiful lamb we have ever tasted. Lightly spiced with pink pepper corns and a small number of other spices, slowly cooked until it was falling apart. Also, if you have not tried Persian lamb and okra stew we would highly recommend it...again simple ingredients made beautiful together. The food was out of this world. Simple ingredients, beautifully cooked by people who are proud of their cultural heritage and want to share this love through their food. What really came across was how much they cared about our dining experience. We will certainly be returning as we didn't have room for the desserts which sounded equally tempting....ice cream with pistachio and rose petals! Thank you Jam and Ali.

Visited here today with my wife after checking TripAdvisor, and The Persian is within the top 10 restaurants for Hull. So we thought we'd have a look. So upon entry we we're shown to our seats. Upon ordering our food, it took around 1 hr for us to receive our order. When we first arrived, 2 other couples we're in there awaiting their food. Ours arrived as they we're leaving. A party of 6 arrived shortly after we ordered, we we're seemingly ignored after this. The food when we arrived was average, quite greasy and oily. The chicken, however, was lovely. But the food was served on a pitta, and it was really greasy. I've travelled and eaten at a lot of Turkish and Persian restaurants through the country and abroad. A high majority serve their meat on rice because of the grease, and the bread served separately, this I would recommend doing. This also adds flavour to the rice rather than popping a slab of butter on top of the rice, which I've never seen before anywhere I've eaten. The atmosphere was ok. A lady came in, though, and changed the Persian music to Celine Dion. She was walking in and out the kitchen, then sat to dine, so she must have been family. This, for me, was enough, and rather than cause upset, we just paid and left. The service was fine, the girls we're polite enough. But unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this place and we wouldn't visit again.

We had the Koobideh and it was absolutely outstanding. We love Persian/Middle Eastern food and this is by far the best we have ever had. The quality of the meat was excellent, and a really good portion size for a very reasonable price!

100% honest review. Food is tasty but it's limited serving with the amount paid for a main dish e.g £16 for a single skewer of chicken with rice. £50 for three persons without drinks and just three sides. I think it's overpriced given the amount of food you are served and almost zero ambiance.

Visited The Persian before the huge game between Hull City and the mighty Ipswich Town. The Owner was really friendly and offered to guide us through the Menu. The food itself was fantastic. Really good quality and for a reasonable price. Will definitely return next time I'm in Hull.

Used to be a regular with the old owner until he hit some trouble with quality. Was slow to return , but the new ownership has certainly made it even better , the lamb bhandari is better than any lamb curry in this region ( I am Indian ) - fantastic

Cannot be MORE pleased with our visit to The Persian. They really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and appreciated. Last minute I asked if they had any birthday cake for my mum, and they got some especially for her. The food was delicious, I was happy with the selection of vegetarian options they had, and the quality of it. Honestly the best persian food I’ve had!!

Authentic persian food, great quality, friendly staff, big portions, value for money

Food was nice but I think their portion size isn't the best. It's a good place if you're looking for something Persian as their taste is different (yes different from Turkish/Arabic). Were served by someone very polite. Place wasn't very busy, so cosy enough. Also don't forget there's free parking at the back for customers

We ordered mixed kebab and ghorme sabzi. They were both amazing. It tasted exactly like Home. There were also torshi, yoghurt and shirazi salad and kashk bademjoon and everything was great. The atmosphere is lovely and romantic.

First visit today, what can I say? The owner was so attentive and spent the time to explain the menu and even offered a taster of one of the meze dishes. the food - wow such flavour profiles and fanatic they offer a BYOB service. I was able to pair a fantastic Lebanese red with our meal (from Aldi if anyone's interested). will be back!

Very small restraunt , tight sitting , slow service . But food was okay , not too authentic but still good. Spicy sauce was good heat to the food. Lamb was not well done ( maybe need to specify with the order ) rice and curries were good . Free spacious parking on the back side of the hotel

Think I might have come on an 'off' day, I had heard good things. Not suitable for vegan or vegetarian. Front of House was friendly but lacked skills and knowledge of the menu and catering in general leading to confusion when ordering. The food was just ok, probably too expensive for rice, salad and sauces. Small restaurant not much atmosphere

I found this place when searching for a restaurant with suitable gluten-free options. Very helpfully they state in the menu they are majority gluten free, and can accommodate changing the flatbread to a gluten free option. We enjoyed the set menu for 2, and the fried potatoes in place of the flatbread were great. The host was very welcoming and chatty. The restaurant does not have bar, but you are invited to bring your own alcohol for a small corkage fee. The food tasted great and authentic, the saffron rice was wonderfully fragrant and enjoyed by all. Hope to visit again soon

I’ve had this little gem on my ‘must go to’ list. It did not disappoint. The food was amazing; really amazing. You need to take your own alcoholic drinks however this isn’t an issue. I cannot wait to go back again to try out more of the delights.

This restaurant is a must to go. I'm a tourist in this city but I can say the food in here is cooked from scratch. It's rated number one of 491 restaurants in the city.

Hadn't been here for ages but was pleasantly surprised to see nothing much has changed. Place is still pretty cozy (small), the owner still recognizes us..and the food, as usual, is excellent. The meat was succulent and flavorful, the service quick and unobtrusive. But the best part, as always is the rice and the saffron infused rice. Very pleasing. Hope to return soon.

First Persian meal ever, didn't know what to order with what . But the owner was very helpful and explained the menu and suggested a few options. When the food came it was excellent and we all enjoyed it. They don't have a license,so bring your own wine and beer. We didn't bother and had soft drinks. It was a very enjoyable evening and will definitely call again.

Visited tonight for the first time with my friend. I cant believe weve havnt found this place sooner! A little gem of a place . Fantastic food and plenty of it and the customer service from the lovely man who we presume to be the owner? Was outstanding. Really lovely gentleman . And fantastic artwork on the walls that he paints and sells only wish I had somewhere to put it so i could buy one! Will definitely be visiting this place again. Iv already told all my family about it! Cant wait to return !

We are here as a family, the service was absolutely fantastic, we were complete taken care of. The food was so delicious and tasty, good portion sizes, definitely recommend the lamb chops! If you want an authentic Persian experience this is by far the best place in Hull!

Our second visit. We chose two different lamb stews from the specials board. A little disappointing as the meat was overcooked and very dry. The sauces were wonderful. I suppose you shouldn't go back to somewhere you enjoyed first time around

I have been coming here for three and a half years. Good service, owner is attentive and conversational. Food is fabulously seasoned, and represents Persian cuisine in a positive light.

First time visit just to check the environment and menu. Went in it was super quiet literally had to softly call on to request a menu. An old man came (probably the owner) handed over the menu and staring at me like I asked him for his kidney. That menu looked like he typed all up and printed from word document. As I was going through menu he kept staring at me like I am a suspect. I then asked him gently what does this specific meal like? He got super annoyed and attacked and said “Are you here to eat or question me” obviously broken english. I and my dad was really polite and just was not expecting the outcome and such a behaviour. He said “listen, if you are not here to eat you can leave you can’t afford my food” I mean… what makes him think that I cannot afford his food? Very unfortunate of us that we went in to ask. He insulted my dad and when I told him you are not allowed to speak to customers in that tone he started speaking in broken english which I couldn’t really understand and he was saying something “we are rated top 10 restaurants blah blah blah” I mean you do not need to say all that if you are actually good. Honestly it was just a visit to ask what it is like. Racism is not tolerated anywhere.

Have been there a few times! Tasty and authentic food but priced on the higher end. Owner is very nice and friendly. We celebrated our friends birthday there and they helped us turn it into a really nice surprise. I would recommend going there once in a while when you want to treat yourself.
