Great Cinema, nice vibe, comfy seats!

Good food well presented quickly. Bit noisy but the restaurant was full with Christmas parties. We had a very happy evening.

Very nice place. Watched Kung Fu panda 4or5. And had a great time. Lovely little cinema with full bar and restaurant across the street. Very comfy.

At Christmas the Picture House Restaurant arranges two party nights. In addition to a full range of festive meals on the menu they have a wonderful disco. Our party of twentyfour had some dietary requirements which the chef was able to accommodate. Each meal arrived lovely and hot and within minutes our whole group were enjoying the food. One nice aspect of the venue is that the disco is set up on the higher level so those not intending to dance can still enjoy a conversation at the table. A wonderful evening and we will be back.

We booked weeks ago to take my Mum and her friend out for a celebration dinner. We arrived 5 mins early for our 7.30 reservation, and after 10 minutes of waiting at the bar we were able to find someone to let them know we'd arrived. They asked us to wait in the bar area and they would seat us in a moment. We ordered some drinks, and despite asking for someone to bring over a payment machine, no one did. At 8.30 I found a waitress and asked about our table, they said they were just getting it ready. At 8.45 we finally sat down. Orders were taken, and then had to be changed because the specials had run out. Food finally turned up, and to say that the fish pie was mediocre is giving it too much praise. It was genuinely unpleasant, and I asked them to take it away. I was asked if I wanted something else, but tbh I was thoroughly fed up by this point and said no. We asked for water, none arrived. We had to ask several times for our drinks order to be delivered as they were poured, but just left sitting on the bar. The bill came to over £200 and I was furious to see that the fish pie I sent back had still been charged for. A thoroughly disappointing experience and we will not be returning.

Such a different cinema experience, lovely seating, nice swivel tables on each chair, plenty of legroom. There are menus on the tables to order food or drinks and an attentive member of staff who comes round before the film starts. What a lovelt experience

Fabulous cinema! Two small screens (about 100 people) wide comfortable seats with lots of legroom. Small swivel tables on each seat and 'table service' offered for food and drink before the movie starts. Staff all very friendly and courteous and very professional and efficient. This cinema has been in the town for 108 years and it's no surprise why this has lasted so long. This should be a template for how all cinemas should be. Well done picture house!!

Oh my goodness how lucky are we in uckfield to have this amazing independent cinema- the film showings compete with the cinema big guns as well as showing golden oldies live opera and National theatre performances- the staff are exceptional always efficient helpful and smiley The lounge experience is a joy with reclining seats extra space and nibbles and drinks delivered to your seat if required I cannot praise the business enough - additionally the toilets are spotless and the soap dispensers always full and with hand lotion to boot

We discovered this lovely cinema in Uckfield by chance because the usual corporate cinemas were not showing the film we wanted to see , now we are coming back regularly, the atmosphere, is captured from a time gone by , it's comfortable, the sound is at the right level, the staff are friendly and helpful, and welcome you .

Just been to see Gladiator 2 , Friday 15. Great film, just a post to say how great the staff are and how hard they all work , to get orders out to the Lounge , first class service , very polite and helpful. Great cinema to visit.

Love this cinema, staff always so friendly, drinks fairly priced and it's so nice to be able to have proper comfy seats. Love it.

Would not let pregnant girlfriend use their toilets, made us walk all the way across town to tescos, rude obnoxious staff, avoid places like this.

Staff confirmed with us on arrival that we had seats at the (linked) Picturehouse cinema hour opposite the restaurant, an hour and 50 after our booked table, which we felt was a good plan, presumably so they can make sure we are able to finish eating on time. We enjoyed our dinner, especially the baked Brie (a special) and lemon posset dessert. Staff were efficient and smiley. The furnishings and decor don't quite match the high quality of the menu. The movie posters everywhere are fab, but it may be worth updating the laminate tables etc, in the future. Thanks for a fun evening, with the restaurant several times better than 'Paddington in Peru's which barely rose above lame!

Excellent independent cinema catering for all tastes in film from classics to sci-fi - lounge with reclining seats, also refurbished Screen 1. Lovely staff plus you can order drinks and snacks to have served at your seats. A great asset to uckfield and surrounding areas. Highly recommend

They have a really wide choice of dishes which are freshly cooked to order. The sweets, made on the premises, were all delicious.

This is what you can expect from a vintage cinema. It's lovely inside. Prices for tickets and f&b are on the more expensive side but to be expected too from any cinema. The venue is small but I'd say that's actually a benefit as it makes finding your screen just that bit easier.

An amazing building with three screens, one being the "lounge" (see website). Friendly helpful staff and comfortable seating. The Picture House restaurant is opposite and part of the same friendly team. Go on, treat yourselves!

We came for dinner before the bonfire procession. Great food and service Oliver our waiter was fantastic and so helpful - it’s great to have a local restaurant like this and the food and cocktails are always good.

Fantastic food, great service. The wife and I decided to have a meal here before the cinema. Didn't expect much but very pleasantly surprised. I had the King Prawn Linguine and the wife had calamari starter followed by a mission impossible burger. The Linguine was outstanding and highly recommend the cheesy garlic bread. The Burger was lovely and amazing chips. Will certainly be back

Historic Cinema in the heart of Uckfield. The fact they charge a £1 booking fee per ticket is outrageous, it's a like a coffee shop charging a £1 stirring fee. Also the cost is already way more than the Depot in Lewes. Having said that it's still a nice experience

A nice lunch spot on Uckfield High St with a bistro style menu - the restaurant was quiet on our Monday visit. I had the duck with fondant potato and vegetables and my friend's the vegetarian risotto and the fish cakes. We shared a couple of deserts. Everything we ate was fine with good portions and quality. The damage including a couple of drinks a reasonable £82 for 3. Service was friendly and relaxed.

1st visit here and I was amazingly expressed. Didn't expect to see a bar when I walked in. We got guided to our screen and wow. Not what you expect from the classic vintage exterior. Seats were really comfortable and amazing leg room. The swing round table was a great addition. But was expecting table service. Staff so friendly and polite and very quick with your order . In all amazing experience, hopefully back soon.

Despite living in Uckfield for 5 years we’ve only just discovered the Picture House restaurant. We visited recently for a birthday meal and had such a great evening. The food was excellent with good portion sizes and exactly the sort of cuisine that I like; traditional British dishes, elevated with lovely sauces and flavours. Service was excellent - friendly and attentive but not intrusive. It has a really nice relaxed atmosphere whilst still feeling special enough to be a ‘destination’ for a night out with friends or family. It’ll definitely become our go-to place when we want to eat out now!

The staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. The restaurant has a warm feeling and interesting cinema posters. It was clean and had a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The menu is varied, with a good selection of daily specials - but there is not much choice for those with a plant-based diet. And you would think that the vegan burger, with vegan cheese might just come with a side salad? Not a bit of it, just a tin of chips and a small slither of pickled gherkin. As nice as the place is, I thought the menu could have been a little more inclusive. Fine for non-vegans and there are some vegetarian options.

Really great little cinema in Uckfield. They refurbished the screen rooms so even row 1 offers a very comfortable view. You can order food and drinks to be brought to your seat in Screen 1 and in the Lounge, which also has super comfy reclining seats. Highly recommended.

Firstly, it would be helpful if you made it known that there is no table service. We eventually realised you had to go to the counter to order. Scrambled eggs on toast with bacon, pretty good, hard to get wrong though. Smashed avocado not so good, no mention of the fact that it is actually more of a spicy guacamole. Coffee was a bit wishy washy. Sorry not that impressed.

A lovely little venue with interesting film related decor and serving some great food at a reasonable prices. Well worth a visit and if you want to see a film too then the cinema is just across the road.

Nice little local cinema, the lounge is amazingly comfortable and not unreasonably priced. They usually have all the blockbusters, as well as cult classics that you might not have seen on the big screen previously.

We only used the restaurant on this occasion for some olives, nachos and prosecco! It's so super cute that I wished I had taken some photos. The young lady serving us was so super friendly and very helpful, the iced/chilled glasses were a welcomed touch! Prices although perhaps not catering for the tightest of budgets I felt were more than reasonable for what you get

Excellent Sony 4k projection paired to a Dolby 7.1 surround system makes for a very very immersive film experience .. add in their special events from meal and film ticket deals to cream teas with film in one of the 3 separate screens on offer, and you have a wonderful 21st privately run cinema. Emails and a Facebook group can keep you up to date along with online booking, and here you are, a real 21st C success story.

My Wife and I being residents at Buxted thought we would try the Picture House restaurant for breakfast when they opened at 10 am on Feb 15 2024. We found our selves a table and looked at the menu, we decided to have a full breakfast with coffees. We sat for a little over fifteen minutes waiting to order. During this time there was a young female tinkering behind the bar and another female walking from one place to another. When the female standing behind the bar turned her head to see me looking in her direction she abruptly said you need to order at the bar, we don’t do table service. We felt very unwelcome due to the tone of her voice. We felt so embarrassed due to her rude approach, we both stood up and left the premises without a word. The prices are high enough to Warrant table service. We went to the Luxford restaurant instead. Service second to none, food excellent and prices very reasonable.

They invited me to dinner at this restaurant (I didn't visit the cinema) and I really liked it. You can order light and well-garnished dishes for a more informal dinner. There are live music performances that I am told are very frequent and liven up the evening. The decoration, as it could not be otherwise, is set in the world of cinema. Everything is cozy. I left very satisfied.

Always a great experience at the Picture House. Took a group of octogenarian to see Kinky Boots, the musical - they loved it.

Have been a resident of Uckfield for 30+ years and as such have been a regular patron of the Cinema. We were due to go to the Lounge tonight, but unfortunately my wife has contracted Covid today. I rang to see if my tickets could be deferred as it would be irresponsible to attend and was met with a friendly voice, who tried to help. Unfortunately she could not, as we, apparently need to give 24 hours notice to cancel. I did explain that I wasn't after a credit, just simply that I could use those tickets on another day. She put me through to the manager, who although obviously briefed by her colleague just abruptly asked How she could help. Then when a repeated what I said =, she simply just said its company policy and that's already been explained to you! So nothing can be done. I assume I will get a refund for the drinks I've ordered ? Or is that company policy to charge for something I haven't drunk as well as a seat I've not sat in? Very short sighted and a real shame

First time visiting this cinema, and I was really impressed! The seats are super comfy and I loved being able to order food and drinks to my seat. The sound was set at a comfortable level too, I usually find the sound much too loud at other cinemas. Looking forward to going back!

We only visited the restaurant, not the cinema, for coffee and cake mid morning on a Saturday. This is a unique cafe and restaurant with easy chairs and comfortable sofas, so nice atmosphere. No table service, you have to order at the bar although the order is bought to the table. Only 3 stars because there were only two cake choices and they were the last slices which was disappointing. They have special cinema and dinner tickets so we will try again - just get more cakes!

If you want just a fantastic cinema experience and a great place to eat beforehand then look no further! The restaurant menu is fantastic. I have celiac disease and their GF menu is brilliant with a large choice. The cinema is just wonderful!! The cinema is clearly loved by those who own it and work there. Forget the normal chain cinemas , Uckfield Picture House offers a truly wonderful and memorable experience. Table service to your seat. Have a beer and food at your seat and enjoy the movie!

Great food, atmosphere and service with a smile. Kevin burger was 5*. All Uckfield locals should support the cinema. There's not many old cinemas like this left in the UK.

We live equi distance between Uckfield & Tunbridge Wells, so have the choice of a large multiplex or the Uckfield picture house. We always pick the lounge at the picture house. Lovely experience. Comfy reclining seats. Table service for drinks and food and great quality viewing experience. We then often pop over to their restaurant over the road which is great quality too.

Not a lot entertainment in places like Uckfield, great to have a little studio cinema around catching up with good titles and offering very cameral cinematic experience. I like it a lot.
