Was booked in here for one night ahead of a customer visit in the area. Very peculiar setup and not one that I recommend. Was contacted beforehand asking for my arrival time and whether i can self check in. No problem, I can do that if you tell me how. No response. I arrive. It's winter. It's dark. The first door I tried has no response. The door is on the side. The owner/manager sat inside in an almost dark room. I was asked to fill out a check-in form on paper, supplying info they already had or didn't need. I didn't fill it all in. It's a work booking, and I pointed out they'd already contacted me on my mobile anyway. Then, I got shown to the room. It was Room No.3 in an annexe. It was warm, with a metal frame four poster bed. But it was not the room I booked (superior room with bay window with seating area). This was not superior. It was dirty, dusty, and very, very poor quality. The door had two locks, but only one was functional. The door was loose in the frame, so I put the chair under the handle so I could feel safer. The rest was a mix of furniture. Some good. Some odd. A small fridge that wasn't plugged in (I did so, and shortly after unplugged the noisy little beast). A weird collapsible table, a heavily scaled kettle, sachets of coffee, and tea. I dare not walk around barefoot. I had no view to speak of through the tiny window - I didn't see how bad it was until the morning . The bathroom was worse. Mouldy, damp, leaky, and a film of dirt on all the walls and mirrors. The shower was heavily scaled, and the bath dripped constantly. I struggled to get hot water out of the sink tap, so I avoided the shower in the morning, grim as that may sound. There were multiple wifi connection points around the site, and it was good enough to attend early morning conference calls. There was an adjoined room 3a. I'm not sure what that setup was, but the walls were so thin i could hear every cough and wheeze in the morning from the tenant. The best thing I can say is the bed was comfortable and the TV huge. If you think I'm making this up, check the photos. I have made a recommendation to our organisations travel company to remove this from the site. There's quaint and rural, then there's this place - it's a health hazard, IMO. Avoid.

This place is absolutely awful. Avoid at all costs. Had the misfortune of staying there last night. Please don’t be fooled by the pictures on google these are very old and the place hasn’t been cleaned since the pictures were taken. I slept in my clothes. I didn’t shower as it was filthy. I asked for a refund but they said they wasn’t an option they gave me a different room which was as bad. Such a shame as I bet it was lovely years ago

Booked through booking.com and shortly received message asking for check in time. Called number and spoke with an individual who didn't really understand English. On arrival asked to complete breakfast choice forms and shown to room. Room was date and not clean. There were dirty extension leads and room was very dated. Shower was tepid at best. Went down for breakfast which was served before any chance to have cerial at all and didn't even reflect what had been ordered the previous night. Would we stay again? Definitely not it was our idea of a pleasant B and B. The current owners really need to up their game or this won't survive much longer.

Pretty typical house but very aging We had the family room which should be avoided because the cooking smells are unbearable. The bedding is tired Soundproofing is poor Breakfast is ordinary. The atmosphere is uninteresting Damage

This looks to be a family-run place. Check-in was a patchy experience. Getting into my room proved challenging (the unlocking process was convoluted to say the least), and the welcome was a bit on the austere side. It is relatively cheap, and the room I stayed in, although tired, was clean. The bed was reasonably comfortable, although the floor it was sitting on was not at all level, meaning the bed was not level. There was a lot of noise (people arguing?) between 10 and 11pm but after that it was quiet enough. Breakfast - quality reflects the price paid for the accommodation. Avoid the scrambled eggs.

I'd say Famous House is the no. 1 chinese takeaway in Thame! I guess they have a real top chef in the kitchen. That's why the quality of food has never disappointed me! The staff are very friendly as well! So when I'm lazy to cook, Famous House is always the place to go for me 😄

Since the new takeover Kath, Bobby and her family have really turned the place around! The Undercovers here last weekend were incredible. The whole place has improved so much! Really enjoying going there. :)

APRIL 2024 - the restaurant is CLOSED until 23rd April. Don’t order on their online service because it’s not open and it WILL take your money anyway. Bit annoying they left this open but if this does happen to you, click the live chat on their ordering system and they can refund you (despite it saying they can’t on their FAQs)
