Lovely pub, good food, exceptional wait staff, really helpful and friendly.

Had a fish and chips and was really good - I would even say it's probably the best chips I've had around the area!

Not eaten here for ages, so unfair to leave a review based on food, anyway service and atmosphere deserves 5/5, great place for a post walk cider, always plenty of dogs about.

I took my family. Sadly I was very disappointed with the food. My roast was nice and had lots of veg. The beef had no flavour and cut two thinly. Roast potatoes were edible, but no crunch. Shame! My sister's plate was tagliatelle and looked so dry and was. We got our drinks but waited ages for the food and had to ask. Plus the starter was lost. By a human error that I can forgive. Sadly the scrumpy isn't really there any more. What a shame. I like the tradition dry scrumpy and it wasn't nice cider to me. And I grew up in town. Overall... big disappointment. And it wasn't crazy busy

We went to the Prince of Wales today for my husband's 40th birthday meal and had 19 guests. All of the members of staff were attentive and friendly and checked on us for additional drinks orders etc. Food was absolutely delicious and served really quickly (we were amazed considering how many of us there was!). 1st class food 1st class drinks 1st class service 1st class atmosphere Thank you Prince of Wales

Returned again but very disappointed in the service. Ordered at 13:45 not served food till 14:45. Food was nice. Appreciating that it gets busy and was quite expecting a wait but not that long!

I went here for a Christmas dinner with a large group of friends. We had pre-ordered from their festive menu which offered good choices including veggie, vegan and gluten free. There were over 30 of us and we were at the end of the dining section in a separate area, perfect for us, and everyone else I'm sure! Everyone's meal came out together so no one was sat waiting while the rest of us tucked in. I scraped my plates clean for each course although there was more veg than I could manage. Everyone else either did the same or admitted defeat even though the food was wonderful. It's a beautiful setting too. Lovely lights up for Christmas and it would be lovely in the day too so that you can make the most of the views and walks from the pub.

We had a great time celebrating Winter Solstice with 6 different Morris sides! Real ale was fantastic too

Had a fabulous meal as part of a party of 30. The service was first class & the food was amazing. They coped extremely well with such a large group of!

A superb spot for a pub. Beautiful surroundings and views. Lots of walks to enjoy. The pub itself is clean with plenty of room for multiple groups. It provides a thoughtful welcome to families, ramblers and particularly dog walkers. There are boot scrappers at the door and dog water bowls at every table outside. There is a good selection of drinks including beer direct from the barrels - all well kept. The food is well presented and quickly prepared. Staffing is to an appropriate level and they are friendly, swift and helpful. Pricing is about where I would expect it to be for such a popular establishment. One of my favourites.

As a busy NHS Mental Health team we would just like to thank the amazing staff at the Prince of Wales for such a lovely Christmas Team Lunch experience - the food, service and atmosphere was amazing - we were extremely well looked after - thank you again - we will be back :-)

We had lunch here. It was a busy day as the weather was glorious. The service was efficient, friendly and the food was lovely (we had the mushroom tagliatelle). It is very dog friendly and we wouldn’t hesitate to go again when in the area.

This is the first time both myself and my husband have left drinks at a pub. We drove up to this pub located where there are fabulous views. I asked for a J20 which the barmaid poured from a tap which I thought was odd. I said that I’d never seen J20 on tap and she laughed, so she had not misheard my order. My husband had a Diet Coke. My ‘J20’ tasted like very weak orange squash and my husband’s Diet Coke tasted like it had been watered down too - awful! We had been looking for a place to eat, but after such awful tasting drinks we did not want to potentially waste money on their food too.

Very good Sunday roast though you have to book as very popular with ramblers and dog walkers. Good pub menu and dogs very welcome

Fab lunch at the Prince of Wales today. Confit duck leg with dauphinoise potatoes, and venison faggots with mash were our main courses. Both dishes were tasty, filling and cooked perfectly. Puddings were good too; ginger treacle tart and apple pie with custard, not overly sweet and decent size. Thank you

Very busy pub early Tuesday afternoon which is good to see

This is your standard pub great for dog walkers and a welcome place to dwell on a hot summer day or shelter from the cold and wet conditions that you get from a country park. The pub sells real ales and is separate from the main eating area. It provides standard pub fair but always cooked well and a good amount.

We queued up for 20 minutes and didn't move. There was only 2 people serving and they were messing about with the coffee machine meanwhile the queue was getting longer. Once we had a lovely breakfast there. We only wanted a drink after walking the dog but the wait was too long so we went elsewhere.

Great everything here and a favourite of ours to visit. Brought my wonderful Mum aged 99 with us this time and we all enjoyed everything. Thank you.

Excellent food and drink, and an easy walk to the quarrying stone circle monument and the Ham Hill reserve and monument

Friendly staff and a vibrant atmosphere in a nice spot for a stroll or a mountain bike ( if you find the hidden trails 😉) make the well earned pint all the more enjoyable. I can recommend the food also.

Pretty good food, but slightly pricey

We stopped here for lunch. This pub should be a destination in any foodie's list of best places in Somerset. A brilliant find and I would happily recommend The Prince of Wales to anyone visiting the area (as we were). A very memorable meal, for all the right reasons. 10/10!

Dreadful pub. We had breakfast there this morning. We paid £30 for two orange juices and supposedly “full English breakfast “. Cheap ingredients- terrible. The staff were very friendly and polite but the pub……..could do with a good scrub

Lovely pub, food was delicious and large portions. We had the fishcake, soup, steak and fish and chips and only negative was the steak was very slightly over cooked but still very nice. Dog friendly too

After a lovely walk round Ham Hill nature park we had a very tasty meal and drink in this lovely, welcoming pub.

A great meal with good service. It was persistently raining when there but the staff were still cheerful and polite. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Always a warm friendly welcome and very competitively priced food and drinks and dogs welcome which is always helpful when out walking with our favourite 4 legged friends overall well worth a visit and 5 And you can see a variety of different animals and dogs visiting regularly ⭐️

We booked a table for 7.30pm. Order taken at 7.40pm waited 45 mins for a salad starter and a scotch egg. Food "ok" even tho scotch egg was obviously pre cooked and put in microwave. Over bearing waitress obviously just out of sarcastic drama school. Having worked in hospitality successfully!! How hard can it be to get things right?! ... such a waste of a lovely venue in a lovely location. Will not be returning... hence this review.

Prince of Wales is a very nice pub with very good service and very good food.. The location is superb, you can sit outside and enjoy the wiev if weather permits. Tha staff was welcoming and patient with our order. Definitely a place to go back. I wish I had taken more photos.

Great place for a stop off with the dog on the A303

We have stopped here twice. Both occasions we have had a nice experience and tasty food. I didn't take any pictures of the food it seems as both times we were out for walks and just enjoying the scenery and country. The picture below was taken from our pub bench seat just outside of this friendly Robin that came and sat right next to us for a while which was lovely. The first occasion we came we knew the pub was at the end of a walk and when we go there we weren't necessarily planning on eating. We saw how cosy and busy it was and the had pub classic baskets of things with chips so we asked if we could be accommodated and they found us a table. I had sausage and chips and I think my partner had scampi maybe. They were both lovely and just the right amount. A generous portion without feeling rolly polly. The second time with drove here in nice weather and knowing we could get some nice pub grub. We both had fish and chips and shared some onion rings. It was all great again. Plus the views were the lovely ones I have shared below.

Stopped off here for lunch after a morning exploring Ham Hill. Classic country pub. Popular with cyclists and walkers. Plenty of seating options. Inside and out. The food was good, generous portions and service was quick. Very dog friendly.

Ate in bar area since I had a dog with me. All good no complaints, good for location and what it was. Food perhaps slightly more than expected

Love this pub. They’ve definitely got the right balance. Nice welcoming atmosphere, nice food, friendly staff, dog friendly, walker friendly, they don’t mind muddy boots. They have great live music events. Very Popular.

I booked a table for a family party of 15 of us the service was amazing considering they had a band playing really busy on a Sunday afternoon the table behind us also had a few people that also book up , most of us had a roasty amazing meal with lots of veg you can choose from and very tender meats veried topped of with a Yorkshire pudding, they cater for people who is dairy intolerant and other allergys, well recommended and good prices will come back again thank you to all them people who worked really hard goid customer service.

The food was good and the waiting staff were friendly and very efficient. We had our Cockerpoo with us and the staff made a fuss of him. Great dog friendly pub with beautiful views of Ham Hill and beyond.

Popped in by chance during a long journey. This is the most lovely, inviting and cozy pub I have visited in recent memory. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service was swift and the food absolutely top-notch. Our meals were home-cooked, amazing quality and fairly cheap. I will be going out of my way to visit on the return journey!

Stopped for an Ice Cream and drink. The Ice Cream hut 🛖 in the garden is a great idea 💡 and the Purbeck Ice Cream is delicious. Lovely attentive lady serving. Bar drinks are good, yet the bottled drinks could be cooler, even the ones at the back. Lovely place; although, as it was a busy Saturday afternoon, the garden was littered and untidy; although one mature member if staff was good at picking litter up everytime she passed through the garden. Unfortunately, the Cloakroom was not the cleanest, with some areas not cleaned recently. Overall a lovely and convenient place and the hot food smelt enticing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Booked a table for lunch today 23/06. Food was fantastic,great service and a great atmosphere, will definitely be back.

Would be a five star but , went to the sunday afternoon live music and bbq which is a great little regular summer thing but when you pay £6.50 for a burger you expect real beef and a decent sized bun, not a soggy processed pattie with the texture of soggy corned beef in a tiny bun , not impressed as I starved myself all morning for that, surprised and disappointed as the food at this pub is usually vert good 🫤

This is such a wonderful pub! The staff are extremely professional and made us holidaymakers feel like we were regulars. They were extremely busy as they had a party going on, and it was one of the best sunny days of the summer. We were very lucky as they had to stop food orders for an hour. But we just got in there. We heard some people moaning about no food, but you could see how busy it was, and it was great to see the staff working through the situation. We were told we'd have a 45-minute wait. But it came out just under half an hour. We all ordered the lamb burger. They were hot and so tasty. The relish that came with the burgers was amazing. We would definitely visit this pub when we are in the area again!! Hopefully, next year. The two main staff behind the bar were friendly and brilliant at their job. They definitely need to be recognised by the owner!

An excellent dog friendly pub with superb food and very friendly staff. The food here is consistently good and the ales are just as good especially the zero alcohol beers.

Went for lunch on a very busy Bank Holiday. Food fantastic, staff teamwork excellent, great atmosphere. There was a bit of a wait, which we kind of expected and it didn't matter, in fact enjoyed watching the well oiled machine serve so many. A great pub run by a fab team, thank you.

It's always worth a visit. Staff are welcoming, and the food is great.

Always a great place for food. Set in the Ham Hill Country Park, it’s ideally placed for dog walkers and a great place to stop off for drinks at the end of a walk. Usually best to book for meals.

Arrived late afternoon without a booking. Very busy outside at the time. Staff really friendly and helpful, seated us in the restaurant straight away. Promptly came to take our order. Food was amazing, all 3 of us had something different- all meals were great. Excellent selection of cider and beer. Would definitely recommend and will be going again.

On a Saturday morning in summer it's better than Crufts. The phrase ' Dog Friendly ' doesn't even come close. Enjoy.

A nice relaxing dog friendly pub with great cider and great views over the Somerset countryside.

We planned a walk around d Ham Hill and came across the pub on an episode of Bill Bailey’s Country pub walks. We took pot luck and were able tos it outside and order a roast. We had the Pork and Chicken, both delicious with tons of veg and lovely gravy. One of the best we’ve eaten for a while. The staff were lovely and friendly, unlike some place where they seem to resent visitors and just want your money. I tried 2 different pints of the real sales they had on offer, both great. We loved our visit and the country park is a smashing walk with amazing views. Strongly recommend.

Went in after a dog work along the trails. Went in for a few pints and some food. The kids realy loved the cakes on offer. Great service and good quality food will definatly go back in on my next visit to Ham Hill.
