Many thanks to the person who had let us in the busy afternoon without a reservation. Personal recommendation is to go there after visiting the Roman Baths. Amazing experience inside the room. Lovely food, ambience & live music. Definitely should visit if you’re in Bath.

Great start to our visit to the City of Bath and the Roman Baths, we pre-booked for brunch at the Pump Room and enjoyed Eggs Benedict. Bonus whilst enjoying brunch was enjoying a talented pianist playing on stage in the beautiful faded elegant room. The service was absolutely outstanding so friendly and efficient I would highly recommend it.

Visiting family in Bath and decided to go to the pump room for afternoon tea. We went to enquire and was told to come back at 2.30 and we would be able to have a table for 3. I was holding my small dog at the time. When we went back at 2.30 a different person then told us no dogs. We tried to explain that previously we were told we could be accommodated. Not happy as we waited almost 1 hour in the cold. Definitely not happy.

I took a friend and member of my staff here for a treat and a farewell surprise for my employee, I wanted to treat her to a little bit of English tradition before she returned to the Ukraine. My friend and I went last year and it was so special. This time I booked an afternoon cream tea for 3 with Champagne, the atmosphere was wonderful and as usual service was great, the Musician Trio played wonderfully and they really made the event so magical, why 3 stars you ask, sadly it was the food and drink, I felt that the cream teas would all be freshly made and baked but the sandwiches which we rather stingey a finger sandwich with either cream cheese and cucumber or smoked salmon, the bread was very dry on top as if they had been left in a warm kitchen for quite a while, the cream cheese tasted like Philadelphia, the smoked salmon was quite tough and chewy it did not taste fresh, we also had a Welsh rarebit with chutney which I must say was very tasty, but the Turkey vol au vent was tepid in temperature (a breeding ground for bacteria), the small scones we too dry and just crumbled they had definitely been frozen at some point, the top tier housed a chocolate mousse, lemon tart and stollen, the mini lemon tart was very cold, watery and tasteless, my friend had a vegetarian version and agreed that the food was rather disappointing especially for the price, the massive No No was that the Champagne was warm as was the coffee and the tea, both were tepid and the lemon grass tea was completely tasteless. For just shy of £90 a head what you were offered was very disappointing However, my employee had a wonderful time, we loved our afternoon and will definitely go again but next time we will stick to the Champagne breakfast which we had last year and it was worth every single penny.

We have met for afternoon tea at the Pump Rooms every Christmas for the last 10 years. Until today we have loved this special treat and look forward to it. Today we were very disappointed with the food. Comparing the quality and quantity with last year’s picture you can see why. Especially at £85 for two. We declined to pay the 12% service charge which is a shame because our waitress was very good. We have decided to go elsewhere next year.

Very disappointed about the small collection of just 2 finger sandwiches each and the amount of other items were only a couple of warm 2 bite savouries, 3 equally small cakes and 2 small scones. You did get a pot of tea from a choice of just 3 options. Overall very overpriced at £42.50 each that we paid when we booked on line. Further disappointed at the extra £10 service charge we had to pay after we finished eating. We’ve had afternoon tea here some years ago and it was fantastic with a lot more items and variety as well as a large selection of tea to choose from. Afternoon Tea at this place used to be a real luxury treat but we won’t be back again.

There’s nothing about either the food or the service in this place that warrants the prices or the airs. I am not one to shun a fancy place, it’s just that I could have found the same quality on any High St in the country, eyes closed – and that we we’re rushed about by staff in a manner completely at odds with what this establishment purports to be. It was my friends birthday and decided we should have tea here. The room was amazing and the live music was superb. The sweet part of the tea was great as was the savoury Welsh rarebit. The sandwiches were OK but not up to the same standard as everything else. The absolute highlight for me was the staff: we were greeted at the door by the amazing James, he is a gracious, kind, accommodating and beautiful human being!! We were also assisted by Eugine and Davide who were super helpful as well as funny and with very good people skills! (Now let’s go back to James)- I told James that I didn’t eat meat so he sorted out a different sandwich for me and also made a recommendation for the tea…he did not let me down, it was the best cup of tea I’ve ever had in my life! I told him it was my friends birthday and they sent over a cute little cup cake as the band played “happy birthday”. Our family of four arrived in Bath without a reservation to The Pump Room, but thought we might give it a try after a morning of sightseeing. I waited in line to ask if there might be any openings, and sweet James informed me that there just might be for the next seating. I offered to wait, if he didn't mind me hanging around the lobby, and he said that would be a great idea. First dibs! Just about 15 minutes later, James told me our family's table was ready. I couldn't believe it! The sun was shining, there was magic in the air and a quartet was just preparing to play beautiful music. Believe me, I was not at all dressed for the gorgeous atmosphere, but James assured me I'd fit right in and called me "lovely." Emily, our server, was attentive to the needs of my mother-in-law's allergies and my young son's tastes. In short, this sweet occasion marked one of the highlights of our trip — and our lives. The food was tasty, the tea delicious and, most of all, we felt so special. Thanks to James and Emily! :)

I have thought long and hard about how I would rate myself and a friend having tea at The Pump Room. It was my friend's birthday so I thought I would treat her. Simply put I know the place is historical but the dining area looks very dull. The service throughout was nothing special they were not rude but they were neither attentive it was just average. The sandwiches were not very nice and most of them were waisted as they simply were nothing special the cakes were lovely and so was the tea. But the one smallest Bellini that I have ever seen in my life was lovely but I wish there were more of them. There was a Quartet playing but they lasted about 2.5 songs then left as they looked bedraggled and tired to be honest. In short it was a waste of money nothing about it was special and I hated how they came after wanting their 12% service and yes we paid although we didn't have to. This brought it up to £95. I can't really say what I was paying it was average at best. I don't recommend the service, food, decor and atmosphere needs updating.

My mum, who loves poached eggs, couldn't get over how light they felt. We enjoyed listening to the pianist who played a variety of tunes including Your Song. We sat back and enjoyed listening to him. Lovely atmosphere for an afternoon tea. Sipping wine while listening to live music in a room filled with chandeliers and paintings of old rich men truly is an experience. And the tea was great. That being said, I put that I'm a vegetarian on my reservation and mentioned it to my waiter twice. And they still brought out a sandwich with ham and a lobster roll, albeit on a different plate (note that I was alone). The waiter likely just forgot to mention it to the kitchen, but for the price, I feel like those are details you expect to be accounted for. I've had $15 tea in the US where they not only avoided bringing out meat, but also brought out extra vegetarian snacks to replace the meat ones. Note that I still rated this place highly, though. It was all-in-all a great experience with just that one hiccup.

Service: Lack of Sensitivity to the Situation. Not sure whether it was because we were seated near the Cashier’s desk or whether there was a directive from the top to clear plates ASAP, but I just had a disappointing experience at The Pump Room. I was excited to have Afternoon Tea there on our very last day in the UK however in a 50-minute seating we were interrupted at least 6 times. First the Cashier insisted on giving us clean plates, when there was no need. Then the waitress attempted to remove one of my plates. Then the Cashier returned and cleared more plates (this was while we were eating) then she returned and removed the tiered tray that the afternoon tea items were sitting on, placing the plate that had been on the top tier onto the table. Then the waitress returned to ask if she could clear our cups away at the same time asking if we would like more tea. Then another waitress brought the tea. Then the cashier returned yet again at around the 45-minute mark and produced an invoice for the ‘discretionary service charge’ of 12% . Of course I was happy to have more tea when offered and then brought to the table however all the other visits were totally unnecessary. The invoice for the mandatory discretionary charge could have been produced as we were leaving. It wasn’t like the restaurant was busy. My companion and I had travelled half way across the world and our conversation was disrupted every 8 minutes on average. The waitress has a job to do. I’m not sure why the Cashier kept intervening. The food was fine but we weren't allowed to enjoy the atmosphere or the moment.

I recently organised a work dinner at the Pump Rooms and would like to publicly thank the staff of the Pump Rooms for helping to pull it off. The venue catered for circa 165 guests with an initial drinks reception in the Roman Baths before we moved to the Pump Room for the dinner, speeches, and after drinks. Coordinated with the Visit Bath and Searcys teams, the evening went extremely well with numerous guests complimenting the atmosphere, venue, and food. I would like to thank all those involved especially Kizzie and Beth, Rich, and Felix. I would highly recommend the venue for any sort of evening or weekend event with seated meal and drinks reception!

Excellent experience for our first afternoon tea. Food was good, tra was excellent. The piano player was lovely and so skilled. Building itself is gorgeous and the atmosphere is lovely. Only slight downside was our server said we could have all the tea we wanted but disappeared after we got our food and never came back and it would have been nice to have more tea.

Had the afternoon tea it was delicious and cost £42 per person. The service was great and staff were friendly and welcoming. Ambience was great and there was a live pianist.

Oke let’s be honest, you pay for the whole experience and not for the food. the experience was worth all the money, because there is a lot of history going on and the service and ambiance is just amazing. The food was “Mwa”, you get a lobster roll and other food stuff that’s you will not eat every day. But it is not a culinaire journey. So don’t do it for the food, you can find better places in bath for you afternoon tea. You also ask a “doggy bag” This was a gift from my boyfriend and it was a amazing gift. Because the whole experience is mine blowing and we had classical music that I adore. They give you a time slot, but are not strict and a little advice, dress a bit fancy so you don’t feel underdressed and if you don’t care about that? Then you will find plenty of tourist in their day clothes. Oh and if you are a loud girly like me, this is not the place to be with all your loud girlfriends to gossip and laugh your aases off. But a romantic moment with your partner or intimate date with one of your friends it is.

Pathetic Stale Food. We had booked for Breakfast for the price of 11 GBP and Its the worst food I have ever eaten in Bath. The Bun was stale, rough and tasted like weeks or months old. The Filter Coffee was just tasteless. Scones were not fresh, Chocolate Cake had a bad texture (either it was frozen or produced with cheap products). Please don't waste your money! Team, You really need to work on the Quality of the food you are delivering it to the customers.

We thought we'd have some tea and cake at the Pump Room Restaurant, AKA, Searcy's. Located in the historic Georgian edifice that make up the Baths, it has been host to historic figures such as Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, I managed to control my urge to swing from the chandelier, but instead, sat quietly and listened to the pianist as I tucked into the sadly, average chocolate cake. The teapot afforded Mummy and I just over two cups. Almost empty late morning, it was quiet but lacked atmosphere once the pianist took a break. Staff is friendly and welcomed a talking teddy bear. One can get a nice view of an outdoor bath by taking the hallway opposite the cake cutting tables.

Pretentious B-S. Stay away! We called ahead and they said 2pm looks full, come by at 4 - looks like we should have tables available. So we show up at 3:55, a slightly rude guy directs us to wait outside if we don’t have a reservation and that we’d get a table at 4:20 if tables available. We wait outside coz it looks fairly empty and not much people waiting with reservations. At 4:10 a security shows outside and LOCKS THE DOOR. We ask what’s going on, restaurant looks empty and your staff asked us to wait outside. He says “I don’t know. Manager asked me to lock the door.” So yea, atrocious, 2-3 tables have people, rest of tables empty.

Avoid if you are a tourist. We were really excited to go here and called checked for a reservation with them for a large group of 8 with 4 children. We were asked to walk-in but when we reached we were rudely told off by the staff who initially asked us to come 20 mins later and then when I went there, they were closing up. Saddened by the experience as we were celebrating a special 40th birthday with kids. I would not recommend based on this experience. If rather go to the small and cozy mad hatters.

When I had tea at the Pump Room in October 2017, it was a fabulous experience. The room itself is gorgeous, the service was flawless and the food was delicious. I was going to go back in May 2024, but the price had gone up by 60% in 7 years, while inflation should have only increased it by 30%. So, though I'd have probably given it a shot at £34, I decided to give it a miss at £42.50 because I was afraid it might not live up to my previous visit. However, that's not to say I won't change my mind about that when I go back this autumn. Because it really was one of my favorite dining experiences ever, and I'd love to repeat it. The actual menu photo is from 2017, while the menu sign photo is from May 2024.

Greeted by a unpleasant security guard. He explained we need to reserve a timeslot. Thought that was interesting. You don't experience at your leisure but must fill a timeslot. Definitely not my pervious experience there. Choose not to bother. The Mussolin Black Shirt put me off. Who's running this place anyway??? I only wanted a bite to eat, didn't want to be treated unkindly.

Fantastic location, but in my opinion totally lacks atmosphere. I feel it is missing a opportunity to make it a more memorable experience. Service was average as was the food. It is as if the restaurant thinks the location and history of the building is enough. The attached Roman baths were fantastic, but the Pump Room needs inflated.

Went to the Pump Room because I teach the Regency period, but was a bit worried it would be a tourist trap—it is NOT! Had the champagne brunch, and I cannot recommend it enough. It was beautifully prepared, really high quality food. The service was so kind and attentive (the name on our bill was Matt, but I’m not sure if that’s who it was—he had a small ponytail and a beard, and made this experience really magical). If you’re hesitant, to go, don’t be: it’s so worth it!

Incredible variety of wines, the white I ordered was spectacular. We snacked on several dishes that a waitress kindly recommended to us. It delivered, nothing unreal but a very comfortable place. I got there because of the Bib Gourmand recommended by the Michelin Guide App, I'm not sure it still has this recognition.

We’ve eaten at The Moorfields many time when visiting our daughter and family who live locally. We’d hoped that the transition to a St Austell Brewery owned property (we reside in Cornwall)would have given it a boost. However, we found the menu rather lacklustre and a retrograde step from its previous incarnation. Our beer battered hake and chips was cooked well but a small portion, sufficient for lunch but over priced. My pint of Tribute was flat and poorly kept. We didn’t complain as that would have spoiled our meeting with old friends but having chosen the venue felt obliged to pay the bill. We won’t hurry back until we hear that it has improved.

Ordered pre-prepared Christmas dinners for our family this year and they were amazing! The food was prepared perfectly, very tasty and filling - a real property Christmas dinner - and they even included some crackers! Everything packaged up nicely with easy to follow instructions and the portion sizes were very generous. All we had to do was reheat and dish up. Saved us so much money and time - I can't recommend it enough! Thank you!
