The Queens 📍26 Broadway Parade, London N8 9DE 🚇Hornsey The Queens is located in the bustling heart of Crouch End close to local landmark The Clock Tower. The nearest station is Hornsey mainline. This grand public house was built between 1898–1902 as The Queens Hotel. The Salisbury in Harringay which has similarly grand, was built by the same Victorian developer, John Cathles Hill. The Queens features in one of my favourite London gangster film’s, Love Honour and Obey. Once you walk through the impressive corner entrance you arrive into a magnificent bar that is full of original period features. At the centre of the bar is an ornate island servery with detailed wood panelling and a curved counter. The main bar area is divided into four sections with a dining area and an open kitchen at the rear. Everywhere you look around this palatial pub you’ll see beautiful Art Nouveau stained glass, attractive intricate plasterwork, and swathes of dark wood panelling. The beer selection will please most with a choice of mainstream beers, London brewers and three cask ales. I decided on an Amstel, my pint was great, price point was average at £5.80. The food menu is classic British pub grub, Fish & Chips is priced at £17.50. We arrived at 12pm on a sweltering hot Saturday lunchtime in August. The pub had a few punters in the main bar and a good crowd in the courtyard beer garden. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, whilst we sat enjoying our pints, the topic of conversation was all about the majesty of this pub. The service was welcoming and pleasant. Across London there are many iconic Victorian structures, none more so than the Victorian built London Pub. The @queenscrouchend is at the pinnacle of Victorian pub architecture and decorative design and is also a great place for a pint. We loved our time here and would definitely recommend you visit. 📅 17th August 2024 More London Pub Info @londonpubmap 🍻

Went for a veggie Sunday roast and it was spot on. Really good pie with gravy. Great ratio of veggies to pie on the plate (that means not a stingy amount of veggies) with excellent red wine cabbage. Combined with a solid choice of local things on tap, couldn't recommend more. Also had a wonderful playlist on the aux.

I try to go for a roast most Sundays and 90% of those are disappointing and overpriced. I've been coming to The Queens for 3 years, mainly only Sundays, for their roast and it never disappoints. One of the best roasts in London - I've never had a bad roast here they're that consistent. They don't skimp on the veg or roasties either. I should've taken a pic but I'm too busy eating it...next time! In addition, the staff are helpful and the pub has a great atmosphere. Get thi' sens down for a feed and a pint!

This pub isn't for anyone who looks "intimidating," according to the new bar staff. I am a firm believer in not judging a book by its cover. My husband is 6 ft. 5" well built and in a well-paid professional position of work. However, he was treated less than because of the way he looks , the staff should be retrained on manners and inclusivity. This pub used to be a nice place to have a social drink under the previous management and staff, but it appears to be run by people who are obviously scared of their own shadow.

Lots of tables and you can see the kitchen in front of you which is a nice touch. The stained glass windows are very pretty. The garlic prawns starter was delicious and tasted very authentic. The portions are huge and the fish and chips were fresh and tasty. The cod fritters were disappointing as chunks of fish in batter when I was expecting flaked fish mixed into batter - please change it. The pasta dish looked delicious. Fantastic quick service and the man was very hospitable checking everything was ok and bringing sauces and cutlery as needed. Clean toilet with baby change facilities.

## The Queen's Pub N8: A Gastropub Gem in Crouch End The Queen's Pub N8, located in Crouch End, offers a delightful blend of Victorian charm, modern gastro pub fare, and a welcoming atmosphere. Here's a closer look to see if it's the perfect spot for your next pub visit: **Ambiance:** * **Victorian Grandeur:** Originally built as a hotel, The Queen's boasts grand features like high ceilings, ornate plasterwork, and a glistening open kitchen. * **Multiple Seating Options:** Choose from cosy nooks for a more intimate gathering, a spot at the central bar for a lively atmosphere, or the elegant dining room for a special occasion [SquareMeal review]. * **Outdoor Space:** A beautiful garden provides a charming escape during warmer months [The Crouch End Knowledge blog]. **Food and Drink:** * **Modern Gastropub Fare:** The menu goes beyond typical pub grub. Expect delicious dishes like ham hock terrine, partridge with wilted gem lettuce, and Cumberland sausages with red onion gravy [SquareMeal review]. They also offer Euro-inspired options and cater to dietary restrictions with vegetarian choices. * **Real Ales and Craft Beers:** The Queen's boasts a selection of real ales from independent breweries alongside crowd-pleasing wines and a "wicked wines" offer featuring discounted bottles each week [SquareMeal review]. **Additional Perks:** * **Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff:** Reviews mention the staff is helpful and attentive, making your visit enjoyable [Tripadvisor reviews]. * **Family-Friendly:** While the atmosphere might be more suited for adults in the evenings, the pub welcomes families during the day, with highchairs available. **Things to Consider:** * **Potentially Pricey:** Be prepared for gastropub prices, which might be a bit higher than typical pub fare. * **Reservations Recommended:** The Queen's can get busy, especially on weekends, so booking a table in advance is recommended [Tripadvisor reviews]. **Overall:** The Queen's Pub N8 is a fantastic option for those seeking a delicious meal in a beautiful Victorian setting. The diverse menu, friendly service, and charming atmosphere make it a great place to relax and enjoy a memorable pub experience. Just keep in mind the potentially higher prices and consider booking a table in advance, especially on weekends.

One of the best roast dinners that we have experienced in London. We made the visit to Crouch End purely to visit The Queens on the recommendation of a number of locals. A very cosy restaurant with a large seating area, we were seated at a table for 2 in the far right corner by the food counter - arguably the nicest table in the place. Could not fault the service, the food was perfectly cooked, plentiful and of a very high quality. The only minor comment that we both made was that we would have liked a few more roasties (but then who doesn’t). A definite must visit!

Tips should be discretionary and staff should ‘earn’ them. Food ok but nothing special - pasta slightly under cooked and the steak burger was made with onions which overshadowed the flavour of everything else. The Queens' Sunday menu had been recommended to me. I checked the menu: it said the sirloin of beef is served pink. It wasn't; it was brown. More to the point, it was too tough to eat (and I've got all my teeth!) and fairly tasteless. The carrots were OK. The green veg was somewhat overcooked. Since I was lunching with someone I don't know that well, I let it be. She ate maybe half of her porchetta. However, I was surprised that my uneaten meal was removed without a query about why it was practically untouched. The coffee was good.

After many years of coming as a local especially when I went the last few times the food was just not up to scratch. I had a few month break and as the weather was nice I decided to give it another go. I was very surprised to see Queens went all cashless, the garden was painted all grey making it feel like some kind of facility and just it lost charm. :(

Food drinks and service went right downhill you will pay an absolute fortune and on top get descriminated upon. We spent a lot of money there until their food services and common sense went down the drain Sad show even worse service Maynard or la Fabrica provides a much better value for money with delicious food…. Also a cashless venue must I say more

Excellent pub. There Sunday roasts are to die for. Had the mix roast and is one of the top roasts I’ve had in London. Desert of chocolate brownie is heaven. Lovely wait staff. The pub has a classic London pub feel. Will be back.

Great service all round!! Friendly and welcoming staff and great food. It has a fantastic intact Victorian interior, and a generous sized outside space to the rear for alfresco dining. Will definitely go back!!

We, as a family of 4, had a brilliant experience. The food was truly delicious and the staff were incredibly warm and professional.

Great pub in Crouch End with a nice garden in the back, excellent food and a wide range of beers. Some of the best pub food in London - particularly liked the steak sandwich and chicken Milanese

Great pub and a local institution! The staff are friendly but I feel the food is not as good as it used to be. Limited vegan options and the one dish I could order was not great. My wife's prawn dish was way too spicy even though we said to leave out the chillies. I hope it will get better again as it used to be amazing for eating in.
