Nice friendly pub close to the station

A charming, authentic pub where I safely stored my luggage before visiting Stonehenge. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I would have loved to stay for a pint of beer, but I was in a rush as I had to catch a train. I will definitely return here when I’m in Salisbury again!

Superb Guinness. It’s perhaps a rough diamond (but aren’t we all ultimately). Bar manager Nikko (sp?) was top notch. A professional. Welcoming, friendly and perceptive. Would have loved to have stayed longer. But when I am passing though again I will definitely pop in again.

Very relaxed, ideal if waiting for the Train

Visited a couple of times during my stay in the city--once in rainy weather before catching the Stonehenge Tour, and once in sunshine before catching the train. It felt a bit bleak the first time, because it was more or less empty, and the televison pumping out music from the eighties, a decade I don't want to remember. The second time it was sunny, and I sank a couple of lagers out the back, where several chatty locals made me feel welcome on the pub's unfancy square of tarmac and picnic tables. Plus some decent music was leaking out from the bar. The Railway Tavern is perhaps nothing special--a couple of unadorned modern rooms offering a generic row of taps. But it's a bonus to have a pub of any sort by the station, and I suspect it could become a quirky local later in the evening.

First time there bar maid was polite & courteous .. Will be going back again soon

Located a stone's throw from the rail station. It's a Basic English pub, and if that's what you're looking for, you won't be disappointed. I wasn't.

Got off the train and had to wait awhile for the next .. so,decided to venture out .. The Railway Tavern I thought would be great place to stop.. what a sh..hole! The barmans nails were black the floor was sticky .. the tables not wiped! The toilets well you can imagine... The garden..carpark.. had dog sh..! Over.. Avoid at all costs

Great customer service. The barman and barwoman knew exactly what we wanted and were very accommodating, no questions asked.

A bit like the Star Walls bar, so if you like that kind of thing get yourself in there. I would go again

Popped in for a couple of drinks whilst waiting for my son to arrive at the station. Lovely little pub would definitely be my local if I lived in the area. COVID measures were being followed and everything was lovely and clean. Staff were happy and friendly and the friendly cat was a bonus on top. Will definitely be popping in when we are back in October.

If it wasn't for the loud music this is a nice place to go. Handily placed close to the railway station

A fantastic local pub still going strong despite lockdown. Fair priced drinks and a friendly atmosphere. I've been drinking in Salisbury before and this is head and shoulders above the competition. If you miss the old school public house don't fail to give this pub a visit. Far better than sitting at the station waiting for yet another delayed train. A special thank you for looking after my 6 year old too. First class all around

No esperaba mucho, pero ciertamente más de lo que encontramos. Entró por lo que parecía ser la puerta principal. Abierto en una barra delantera desierta. Esperé un momento y luego subí un par de escalones hasta un bar mucho más grande con un barman y alrededor de 6 lugareños. Sólo cerveza era Doombar. Todas las puertas estaban abiertas, la habitación estaba básicamente amueblada y fría, lo que hacía juego con el ambiente. Había un desinfectante en la barra y un libro que firmé para rastrear y rastrear, aunque no me lo pidieron. ¿De una sola mano? marcas en el suelo y ese fue el único reconocimiento para Covid. Las máscaras y el distanciamiento social fueron totalmente ignorados. Vergüenza.

This is a workers pub, not a family pub. My better half said that the red wine tasted 'stale' and 'rough'.

Previously a run down pub in need of a pick me up & a lot of TLC & now it has with experienced Craig Barkham at the helm. All spruced up ready to welcome one and all. This pub if like his previous ventures will be well worth a visit

New landlord is ace. Being a driver on stonehenge tours he is readily available for baggage security at any time of the day, even if he has not opened up yet for people wanting to visit the stones without having to drag their baggage around.....thanks Craig

Situated directly opposite the train station which was handy from a long journey, the staff where warm and welcoming and offered storage of luggage whilst i relaxed in the lounge area and had a stroll into town everything was kept safe for my return and I was welcomed with another friendly smile and a pint, I must say such a lovely family atmosphere thankyou for making my journey a pleasurable one.

Fui a este pub con unas diez personas más porque nuestro tren había sido cancelado y tenía una hora para esperar al siguiente. El pobre muchacho detrás de la barra era lo suficientemente agradable, pero no sabía cómo tomar una pinta, usar la caja o recordar lo que alguien ordenó. Se le unió una mujer que fue tan grosera que era divertido y que tampoco podía obtener una orden de una pinta. Uno pensaría que un pub llamado Railway Tavern daría la bienvenida a los clientes que viajan en tren que necesitan refugio en una noche fría, pero parece que fue un gran inconveniente. Sin embargo, ver a este par servir fue divertido, ya que el muchacho hizo todo mal y la mujer fue tan maleducada como pudo.

It's fine. I always swing by for a drink when getting a train. The managers are friendly, have cute dogs. But it's kinda basic. They serve booze, so I'm not that fussy.

On a day that Salisbury races are on you’d think the manager would open at 11am so race goers waiting by the station for the bus to the races could have a pint. At least 10 people approached the door only to be told that she opened at 12. Lost opportunities

Not a good welcome and should make the lounge more inviting so people have the option to go in there rather than that pokey little bar where everyone was in Chinese whispers as we weren't a familiar face. Defo wouldn't recommend

A pub's pub. Well looked after beer. Friendly staff. I'd maybe not choose it for an evening out but great as a stop off when waiting for your train.

Reasonable price, great location to duck in and gather your thoughts and plan a day over a beer after jumping off the train.

Your basic English boozer. Pool table, juke box, friendly staff and punters, dogs welcome, luggage storage and occasional live music. Not much of an ale selection though.

Excellent place, great local. Offers luggage storage at a low cost. Outside beer garden at the back. Pool table, darts, live music and car park. No food unfortunately but close to food places.

Only popped in for a quick pint between trains! Good ale at a very good price!

Friendly no frills local. decent selection of drinks at good prices. no idea about the food but theres a picture of the menu on here somewhere and it looks to be along the same lines, ie a sarnie or a simple burger with your pint for a couple of quid, cant go wrong. its taken over by a bike club on Thursdays but theyre a friendly bunch too and run a bbq out back weather permitting. I like the place, not enough places like the Railway Tavern left any more. only a few places will put motorbike racing on the tv for you on sunday afternoons which is great but theres bikes on one tv, golf on the other and an annoying dukebox which automatically loudly lets rip every 10mins lol

A very brief visit, while meeting friends from America. Despite initial reservations, it soon became apparent that this is a friendly pub. A lovely staff called Alfie adopted us and the publicans went to get a puppy to show us too. I dropped a £5 note from my pocket and was quickly handed it back by a chap who I assume is regular. My American friends loved this place to and were given a great welcome.

Visited the Railway Tavern to drop off luggage while visiting town. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We dropped off 2 bag for 3 pounds each. After visiting the town, Cathedral and Stonehenge we returned to pay and and collect our bag. The week prior, I sent a message through their Facebook page confirming we could leave our bags with them. I would recommend the Railway Tavern! I felt it was safe, secure and friendly! Thanks!~

My wife and I Went to this pub on a Friday lunchtime. There was 3 men at the bar plus 3 middle aged woman behind the bar serving and 1 woman with a small child approximately 2 yrs old. I was horrified at the amount of swear words being used by not only the customers but the members of staff behind the bar also it was just constantly using the F word. So at that point my wife and I left and would never return again. I would advise anyone thinking of visiting there to think twice.

Nice to see a decent pub as soon as you I get out off train station.... a great warm welcome, decent pint, and a fresh made bacon roll for less than a fiver, what more could you want? especially if you just having a break in your train journey... I would highly recommend
