Amazing food (Roast was massive and such good gammon) had such a lovely pub really family friendly my nieces and nephew said they felt at home there their favourite staff was a lady named Amelia she was really friendly would recommend going here

Absolutely Appalling Experience I recently had what can only be described as the worst roast Christmas dinner in 30 years at The Red Line. The roast potatoes were grey and cold, seemingly soaked overnight and utterly unappetizing. The gravy was bland, the meat barely edible, and the vegetables—unpeeled and rock-hard—were clearly undercooked. The chef’s lack of skill is shocking, and it’s a real letdown for the establishment. On top of that, the wine was outrageously overpriced (£25 for a bottle likely costing £3 at a cash-and-carry). To make matters worse, I’ve heard similar horror stories from friends who’ve experienced poor meals here, and even they’ve mentioned the rude and argumentative management. It’s no wonder people avoid this place; the standards are unprofessional, and the prices are insulting for the quality provided. The Red Line desperately needs new management and a competent chef to salvage its reputation. Until then, I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!!!!!!! Id also like to add that for exactly the same price I enjoyed I luxury Christmas dinner with unlimited roast potatoes and roasted veg with the most amazing lamb shank , and my mum have fillet of beef roast dinner with unlimited roast potatoes and veg , how the red lion can charge what they charge for such a appalling food is beyond me

"A Disastrous Experience from Start to Finish" We booked a meal at the Red Lion for a group of family and friends to celebrate the lives of our dear loved ones who had recently passed. What was meant to be a special occasion turned into an absolute disaster. The issues began as soon as we arrived. Despite my friend providing a detailed list of names and meals in advance to avoid confusion, the staff were completely unprepared. The waitresses didn’t have the list, had no idea who ordered what, and were passing food over people’s heads—causing food to fall onto diners. It was chaotic and unprofessional. The seating was cramped to the point of being unsafe. I was placed at a small table against the wall, where I literally couldn’t stand up because of how tightly everything was packed. Staff couldn’t move between the tables, which made serving even more chaotic. As for the food—where do I even begin? The starters and main courses were served cold. The vegetables were raw, including unpeeled carrots and potatoes that were grey in the middle. The beef was also grey, tasteless, and made me feel ill afterward. Every single person in our group agreed it was the worst Christmas meal they’d ever had. To make matters worse, some meals were served to the wrong people, and desserts were missing entirely. My father didn’t even get his dessert at all. After the experience, my friend contacted the management to express our concerns. Initially, it seemed they might resolve things, but their response was shockingly unprofessional. They claimed they would have offered a full refund, but because a bad review had already been posted, they refused. This makes no sense—if they genuinely wanted to make amends, they should have done so regardless of the review. We only asked for a small token refund (just £5 per person for 18 people, not the full £500), but they seemed determined not to take responsibility. This was, without exaggeration, the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. Poor service, awful food, and unprofessional management. I would strongly advise anyone considering this venue to think twice. businesses should prioritize rectifying the issue with their customers first, as a good resolution often leads to updated or removed negative reviews. A Disastrous Experience at The Red Lion This was supposed to be a Christmas meal for very close friends and family after the loss of both my parents, and it turned into the most disappointing dining experience we’ve ever had. Despite providing a detailed list of everyone’s names and their chosen dishes beforehand, the staff seemed utterly unprepared and disorganized. When the starters arrived, the staff had no idea what they were serving and couldn’t tell us who each dish belonged to. To make matters worse, two starters were missing, and the quality of the food was abysmal. The mushroom and arancini were rock solid, the garnish was cheap and unappealing and the duck balls were inedible and dry and burnt, The main courses were even worse. The roast dinners were described by everyone as the worst they’ve ever had. The beef tasted strange, looked grey, and was entirely unappetizing. The carrots were unpeeled and raw , the roast potatoes if you can call them roast potatoes there were gray inside and cold , Yorkshire puddings and stuffing, were missing from the plates. My meal, in particular, felt incomplete and cold. One of our party members even felt sick after eating. The seating arrangement added to the misery. The table near the gents was so cramped that those seated there couldn’t even pull their chairs out properly. It was uncomfortable for everyone. On top of the food fiasco, the service was equally chaotic. We were told to download an app to play music on the jukebox, but the volume was constantly adjusted. Half the songs were barely audible because the staff kept turning the volume down. When the football match started, the sound was blasted over the music, making the atmosphere even worse, staff couldn't walk in between the two tables was passing plates of food open people's heads after standing for five minutes trying to find out who ordered what, To add insult to injury, we were initially told that deposits from three absent guests could be applied to our bill. However, when the time came, we were told the deposits were non-refundable. This was contrary to what we’d been told earlier, and both my wife and I heard the staff member clearly state otherwise beforehand. The only redeeming part of the meal was the dessert, and that’s because it was bought-in rather than prepared by the kitchen. Even then, some of our party missed out on their desserts. Overall, the experience was embarrassing, and every person in our group left disappointed. The disappointment even led to arguments among our group, as some felt the meal was so poor they shouldn’t have to pay, leaving me to cover the costs. This will be going on TripAdvisor depending on The Red Lion’s reply. Three-quarters of the attendees were from Aldershot, and I doubt they will ever return after such an appalling experience. Poor food quality, terrible service, and cramped seating made this a disaster from start to finish. I cannot recommend The Red Lion to anyone and strongly advise against dining here you have plenty of notice to organise and you were totally unprepared

Actually found somewhere that delivers a roast, been looking for ages. Had my first roast from the red lion today, what can I say. Wow, it was fabulous, the amount of food you get could feed half of Africa, it was hot and I really did enjoy it. The only complaint I've got is there was no stuffing. :) definitely ordering from there again and will definitely be recommending to friends and family. Thank you.

Unpleasant owner. Never had this experience before. Got kicked out without any explanation. This pub does in fact have bouncers who were not friendly and willing to project violence if you do not cooperate.

We came across the Red lion whilst visiting family nearby in Ash. We were three adults and a child and a dog, and I called to ask if they were serving food. They were so helpful on the phone and assured us that we could have a roast dinner. We duly arrived and found a table. The service was excellent and they only complaint I have was that the fireball was on and therefore there pub was a bit rowdy! The portion sizes were huge, very generous. We were certainly made very welcome.

Went here to watch the early Saturday afternoon football. Got there early enough for the breakfast and pint for £10. Fantastic value. A big plateful of breakfast. You certainly won’t leave hungry and with a pint of hobgoblin for only ten pounds I’m not sure you’ll find anywhere that’s better value. Staff were friendly and professional, I will definitely be back.

My husband and I ate at this pub quite a few times while we were staying in the area. The food was excellent and very very good value. I wanted to particularly mention our server, Isaac. He was friendly, polite, efficient and made our time at the pub a memorable experience. We enjoyed the sunday roast very much. We also enjoyed the ploughmans, was a real gourmet plate of goodies and good price. Thank you Isaac and the chef.

a traditional pub that seems to be thriving. read these reviews and stopped in with the family today. 6pm and a busy bar, half full pub, not a spare table in the lovely and expensively refurbished garden area, seemed to be a large population of locals who knew each other enjoying families, beer, sun and football on the 5x garden TVs. staff were helpful, friendly and efficient, good was "pub" food done well, 4 main courses, 4 desserts, 8 clean plates, couldn't fault it, and good value for money too.

Food took over an hour to arrive. Bar service was very slow with just 1 staff member behind the bar, took close to 30 minutes to even order a drink. Was a Tuesday night and wasn’t particularly busy. Female toilet lock was broken.

Booked a Sunday roast. We ate inside even though they have added some attractive booths to the garden.Service was slow but I did notice several deliveries go out of the door. This maybe puts a strain on the kitchen and waiting staff. I was surprised at how little the roast cost, especially with the size of the portion. However, it wasn't very good cookng. I had the 3 meat option. Beef, pork and gammon. The gammon was nice but the beef and pork were both tough and overcooked. The pork burnt my mouth. Not because it was straight out of the oven but because it was straight out of a microwave. The veg, bar the broccoli, was super cooked and mushy, Perfect for those with no teeth. The potatoes were really disappointing, just not crispy at all. Yorkshire pudding was damp and soggy. Good price but not good value.

Me ,my partner and our one year old baby went there to watch England final. We ordered the drinks to the table. When we asked where the drinks are she said that nobody was at the table. She refused to pay the money back or give a drinks! We do not recommend!!!!

Looked for a local pub on a visit to Aldershot. A local recommended the Red Lion. Great choice; proper English Pub, it has that proper local pub feel about it, that is sadly dying out. Friendly locals, a good choice of ales and a fab hostess/barmaid 'Sophie' who gave service with a smile and genuine friendliness. I never ate here, but spoke to Eddie - a local who assures me that his food was excellent. Heard good things about the Sunday Roasts too. Highly recommend. A proper dying breed of a pub.

An evening spent here watching Euro 24 final in the newly refurbished garden. We may not have had the result we hoped for, but we got plenty of the best hospitality The Red Lion staff had to offer, order to table and although it was very busy the staff did incredibly well to keep up with demand across the pub. We ate as well and enjoyed a really good roast for under a tenner.

The worst pub we have ever been, the owner doesn’t respect the clients. We have paid for the drinks we didn’t get and when asked we have been told that we weren’t at the table 😂 when we ask for drinks or money back we have been told to leave the pub ! So be aware !

Red Lion has had a nice little refurb. We sat outside to enjoy the weather on a quiet afternoon and it was lovely. There's plenty of screens to watch the sports, bouncy castle for the kids to play, artificial grass which makes it look a bit nicer and hopefully longer lasting than grass! Easy to order by scanning the qr code and sent to your table. Food was nice. Can't fault the portion sizes!

Very nice atmosphere, Alice behind the bar was very friendly and welcoming saw me sat at the bar by myself so made conversation and always served with a smile, met the landlady who is also very friendly and made me feel welcomed. Food is also fantastic wait times were short I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend coming here

Quick spot of lunch, we are very glad we popped in. Parking was a bit of a mare, had to find somewhere residential a few mins walk away. But once inside, we were greeted by lovely friendly bar staff & we picked our lunch options. Not too busy - we grabbed a table near the bar. 2 baguettes & 2 pints later ... we were extremely content & no longer hungry! The Brie Bacon & Cranberry baguette is a must, what a fab portion size & it tasted great! Good prices too. We will definitely return :-)

We were looking for a place to eat a very late (post 1530hrs!!) Sunday roast lunch. The Red Lion was spot on. Open, friendly, welcoming, down to earth, clean and gargantuan portions. We had a choice of 5 meats for our roast including a veg option. The plate when it arrived had 5 different veg on it in addition to roast potatoes. The potatoes had got a bit 'singed' prior to serving but were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Plate with no shortage of gravy and a plethora of sauces if required. These said sauces served in pots so no mean portions there either. Mustard sauce (not from a bottle), horseradish, Chilli (interesting flavour) and one very hot one!! In addition those from plastic bottles and rip packets on the table. Pudding of apple crumble with oodles of custard - a treat. Hot milk with coffees not a bother. Chef and staff so kind, it was a pleasure to have chanced upon this place which is obviously loved by locals - young families right through to the silver haired. Despite being on the corner of a busy road, the inside was spacious and not noisy. Worth a visit everytime one is in the area. Sunday roasts available until 2100hrs (wow!) With chicken, pork, lamb, beef and gammon as the meat options, if by the evening one of the meats is finished, you know you need to get there earlier or call and book.

Wondeful breakfast again at the Red Lion. The food and service in this pub is amazing. We’ve had breakfast and dinner, on different days I hasten to add! The portion sizes are huge and the food tastes great. Well worth the money. The choice of draft ale/beer/larger and even cocktails is also worth a visit.

Wonderful Mother’s Day was had, I took my sister and mum there for a delicious roast dinner as my mum has never tried it before there and she loved it. We then stayed on for Karaoke which was brilliant.

After reading other people’s reviews I booked a table for 6 people, first time I’ve been in the Red lion and it’s a good atmosphere, food was worth waiting for large plate with all the veg roast’s potatoes lamb and crumble with custard. Staff friendly Recommend you try for yourself

Best place for a sunday dinner in Aldershot!! Lived here for 8 years and its the first time ive visited this place. The portions - was huge even the childrens portion was huge. Very good price for the amount you get. The food - Tasted amazing compliments to the chef. The mains and desserts we had was beautiful. The staff - fantastic service, very friendly, polite, catered for all our needs and nothing was ever to much trouble for them. One of the most amazing things about this place is they provide children cutlery for toddlers. This is the only food place ive ever been to which do toddler cutlery. BRILLIANT! Provided the children with colouring books which they was thrilled about. The atmosphere was very nice, relaxing and very homely. Would highly recomend to anyone! Will not be going anywhere else for my sunday roast!

Just had a fantastic meal I had a very nice mixed salad with a tomahawk steak with all the trimmings and my wife had a very nice small sunday nut roast service was excellent what more can you ask for on a very cold 🥶 Monday night

My husband and I went for lunch today. We waited over an hour for a roast beef baguette, a roast gammon baguet and a cheese and pickle baguette, all with chips. Went it did eventually arrive it was cold. I told the girl serving and she took it away. 3 minutes later it came back, microwaved. So now I’ve got chewy meat, soggy chips and a red hot cheese and pickle baguette. I took it back again and we did get a refund. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

Quickly becoming our new favourite in Aldershot now the ownership has changed. Lots of fun events are happening, great service, and the food is fab.

We have been here several times since moving to the area in the Autumn. The pub has a great family feel, all the staff are exceptionally friendly and even the chef ventures out to speak to customers. The pub has loads of TVs showing all the sports on Sky and TNTSports. Also has a huge pool table, dart board and fruit machines. The pub hosts loads of nights, whether live music or quizzes and lots of family friendly things such as kids discos, santa breakfasts etc. Drink selection is great, guest ales on rotation all the time, really decent menu which is both generous in portion size whilst reasonably priced as well as offering fresh stonebaked pizzas too. Their breakfast is also great value! Finally its very dog friendly and the thursday quizzes hosted by Jerry are great fun! A great pub, can't fault it. Looking forward to summers here!

Had lovely roast dinners. & weekly dinners.. however tonight the driver went to wrong address & I spoke to lady who had not ordered.. by time dinner arrived was cold….

Disappointing Sunday lunch. Waited 1 hr and 20 minutes for our main course, just 4 roast dinners, no starters. Other tables were ordering after us and completing their meals before we even started!. Stuffing balls for the turkey (paxo mix), burnt, been under the salamander too long to heat up, Roast potatoes, a mixture of sizes so when the larger ones were cooked the smaller ones were also burnt to a crisp. Red cabbage under cooked, all other veg was way over cooked. Roast lamb was ok , but it came with the pigs in blankets and not on the roast turkey meals. Packet gravy. But the worst was the Yorkshire puddings, disgraceful, embarrassment to the chefs who made them, soggy and not higher than a Scotch pancake, should of thrown away and made fresh, or get a better recipe! Given it a 2 rating as they did offer us free desserts for the wait and the spillage of our drinks, very apologetic servers.

I cannot recommend the Red Lion enough, they have been doing food about a year now (if I remember correctly) and I'm really really happy to see so many people eating when I go in. It's always a danger that interest in a great place starts to drop off and they stop doing food because the business is not there. This is not the case here at all, the food is always fantastic with great portion sizes, wonderful service and somehow a great price to go with it! Please please continue the fantastic work, you are definitely a key point in the community and a great place for my family to meet up for meals.

Been several times for a drink and the quiz (good) but first time for a meal. Fish & Chip special on Friday night (2 for £12). Staff always friendly and food fresh & hot and good value. Would go again

First time ever visiting this pub. Parking can be found behind pub but limited. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We all had something different to eat but the food was AMAZING, the steak&ale pie was on point, proper steak that melted in the mouth and had flavour. Mash was buttery with a fluffy texture, also had swede, parsnip, red cabbage and broccoli. Fish and chips and steak meals were just as great, with all the normal extras that go with these meals. Portion size was very large but welcome. Prices were very good, around £8ish depending on what you have. We will be eating there again very soon and will give another honest opinion. We spent the weekend in Aldershot staying with friends and spent the early Saturday night there having drinks, next morning the £10 breakfast and a pint was excellent value for money, will definitely be going back next time we're there...

What a gem hidden in plain sight! We drive past it most days and have never thought of going. A casual remark on a weekend away about how they had heard how great the Sunday Roasts were, meant we booked today! FAULTLESS! The food was delicious. Vegetables cooked to perfection! The staff were so friendly. Even better, we could order take away one to bring back for the teenagers who didn’t want to come out for lunch. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Just like Arnold Schwarzenegger…we’ll BE BACK!

The Red Lion did change hands, several months ago, for the better. I come to the Red, not just because I live minutes away, but for the atmosphere, fun and laughter. The Red do offer a variety of ales, lagers, coctails and non alcoholic drinks...

Not my cup of tea. I don't know many people that want to see a fruit fly frozen in the middle of their I've cube... Suffice to say I had to pop it out my drink ASAP to be able to drink my cider. More could be done with the outside area too, this was run down and looked unloved. Sorry to say I won't rush back.

Meals were huge, great selection of veg included, roast potatoes, roast sweet potatoes, roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese, red & white cabbage, carrots, swede, broccoli, Yorkshire pudding even veggie gravy.
