Dropped in for a pint while waiting for a phone repair. Used to frequent it a lot in my 'younger (mid forties)' days. Difficult to assess atmosphere on a wet afternoon but Friday evenings were a must! Lovely old town pub with a great 'feel' to it.

We stopped here for lunch, having looked through the menu we had chosen then we noticed the offer of 3 courses for less than £6. 🤯🤯 Which we were choosing anyway, and we certainly were not disappointed with the quality whether that be full price or not. Bargain... And the staff were very friendly and attentive

Staff were extremely rude from the outset, and I tried to order at the bar multiple times only to be told they were helping other people. I wanted to take a picture of the bar, but they told me no photos. That’s fine, if it is an actual policy, which should be written. I mean, seriously, when are photos not allowed to be taken of a bar?? Honestly I think I rubbed someone the wrong way at the outset when I tried to order at the bar downstairs which I was told is not a bar. Or maybe they just don’t like Americans. Who knows… I left without getting a drink. Most likely they are so popular they just don’t care if one customer doesn’t get a beer and leaves. I won’t be back. Too bad since I had met another person at the Blue Mugge who worked there and said it was a good place. Oh well.

New menu and price changes, good selection of beers ciders lagers and spirits, as well as lots of soft drinks, they have had new screens on the till, so you can see what you have ordered plus your titanic card points. The totally local burger is very small for the price. We get the bacon and cheese burger instead. However the quality of food is well worth the prices, tried the salmon fishcakes on Tuesday very good. The pub building is absolutely amazing, However we found it to be lacking in any atmosphere, a little bit of music would make a huge difference as it felt too small to have silence felt like you could hear other people's entire conversations. However bar staff were very friendly and engaging and the pub has a really good drink selection. Wish they would either remove or clean the curtains on the front windows as they are filthy and really put us off ordering food due to cleanliness concerns.

When we come into Leek for shopping, we invariably have lunch at the Roebuck. Being in our eighties, a particular attraction is the small, children's size, of fish and chips. Real fish, not fingers, and cooked to perfection., with tartare sauce and mushy peas. Our son had the adult equivalent, a mighty beast, and also cooked to perfection. Try the haloumi fries as a starter. Wide range of other meals available, including the Totally Locally burger, which represents amazing value; all ingredients come from within ten miles. Good choice of beers, well kept, mainly Titanic, but other breweries available. Warm and welcoming in the winter, and secluded outside tables in the summer, weather permitting. Car park free to customers, just submit your reg. number atthe counter. Courteous helpful staff make the whole outing a treat.

First visit here despite passing everyday, and often saying it must be good it’s always busy. So we turned up, Friday night with a party of 13 of us, fingers crossed they can accommodate us, as we hadn’t booked. Such a warm friendly welcome, despite a very very busy evening, seemed like nothing was going to faze them, and nothing was going to be too much trouble, and it certainly wasn’t. That’s a lot of stairs to be up and down with 13 people to serve. The food was great, the beers were well kept and in peak condition. We reckon they are part of a small chain of pub restaurants, if that’s right, I hope they’re all operated to this very high standard. Thanks to the chef, waiting staff and everyone who made our night top notch. We will be back.

My wife and I, with our best friends, wanted warmth and nourishment on a raw Sunday evening yesterday, and we couldn't have done better than the Roebuck. This pub never disappoints: the ambience is traditional, the staff (particularly Alex who was 'on' during our visit) are always very friendly, and as for the the food, I haven't had a meal there yet that was anything less than delicious. Three of us had the steak and ale pie yesterday, and I swear it was the best-tasting, fullest example I've ever eaten -- nothing but lean steak in that baby. Try it for size and tastiness if you're out and about in Leek.

Considering this place is a Wetherspoons, it's one of the better ones. Cheap drinks, as you'd expect and never leaving you waiting for food. It's only a small place in comparison to other wetherspoons and it's busy. We struggled to find a table for 4 and that was about 6.30 on a Wednesday evening in January. We got the last remaining table. The table had likely just been left as it still had glasses on and hadn't been wiped, but if it's busy, what do you expect. Ordered food and drinks on the app, drinks came quickly, very shortly after the food came. Food was nothing to get excited about, which is to be expected, but it certainly wasn't bad and in no way did any of us moan or have bad word to say. To top it off, it cost £44 for 2 cokes, a pint of stella, large white wine and 4 meals (one of which being the mega mixed grill) - we'd spend more than that on a Chinese or Curry at the weekend for the food alone. Great value for money, great if you're passing or local, no complaints. We have been a few times for food here, and it's pretty consistent, better than most other chain pubs in my opinion.

We recently stumbled across this gem of a pub midway through a circular walk from Longnor. It’s only just re-opened after some ownership changes. If Ant & Syd can deliver the plans they’re hoping for then this place is going straight to the top of my favourite pubs list. It’s already up there. How the lads manage to renovate whilst maintaining this old building’s authenticity will be a challenge. With plans for an adjacent camping field this place is almost too good to be true and while they work on their project anyone who loves a good old (literally) fashioned pub with good ale should support it. We will be.
