We visited twice during 1 week because it was so nice. 1st visit was lunch - mushroom cheese melt and a bacon sandwich and tea & coffee. The food was gorgeous and not a long wait. 2nd visit was full breakfast (veggie for one) and tea and coffee. Both times the food & drinks were very nice and piping hot. Lots of content in the breakfast and quality ingredients. Set above cooplands, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Nice enough little cafe lovely interior. All social distancing and Covid measures in place to a very high standard, except one thing which made a mockery of everything else. Everyone was asked to sign in (Track n Trace), using the same pen.Made all other measures a farce and felt unhygienic as once youd used the pen there was no was of sanitising again. Madness

A great place to visit when in s/bro found this cafe a long time ago and never fails to come up to standard always a warm welcome and the food is not bad either. We always enjoy the tuna or mushroom melts and a grand pot of tea not bad value for about a tenner.Looking around it seems many locals use it.The only word of warning is there are steep stairs to climb at the end of the shop.It is one of our favourite places to go when at the coast.

Lo suficientemente agradable. Escaleras empinadas.

Did not have a meal here only stopped for coffee morning break but all food looked very tasty and very attractive with pastries (good choice) etc. Must be good as lot of customers in and people coming in all the time. One big asset is the decor,a must to see with pastel colours being easy on the eye and Italian themed to relax and chat in also have toilets. would go back. one negative, with being upstairs not for disabled patrons.

The restaurant is upstairs above a very yummy cake shop. Prices were excellent and the cakes even more so, large portions, counter service, pleasant helpful staff. Nice surroundings we had carrot cake and custard cake both were wonderful. Worth a visit when in Scarborough, they also serve hot food which also looked delicious and well priced!

Part of the new Cooplands, unfortunately not available back home - if only! We ate here every day for breakfast, because the quality and service, at the price is absolutely unbeatable. We also ate here twice for an early (pre theatre) evening meal, and were not disappointed. Recommend them? of course we do but beware that the secret may mean queues in future!

I called in with my aunt for morning coffee. Everything is freshly baked and prepared on a daily basis and is quite reasonable. There is a loyalty card scheme for hot drinks and free tea/coffee with a cooked breakfast. It is attractively decorated like an Italian garden and there are toilet facilities. It is a popular meeting place for older people, but unfortunately the cafe is upstairs (quite steep) and there is no lift so it is out of bounds for the less mobile or disabled.

I have visited this upstairs cafe from time to time over a period of approx 25 years. It has a couple of no-no's for me (hence minus a star), which are, the tables and chairs are rather cramped and the first few tables are rather close to the counter where some people in the queue sometimes look across which can be a little off-putting when you are eating and/or drinking. Also there are rather a lot of stairs. But those things aside, on the whole this is a good little all-rounder cafe. The cooked meals/snacks are always nice and hot and fresh and they always serve a good quality pot of tea also the coffee and lattes are equally as good. Here, you generally get good value for money. The staff are pleasant and business-like and the service is good. This is a nice little italian garden style themed cafe with a pergola and the four tables by the window that look out down onto the precinct are always very popular with the locals and tourists alike.I continue to visit this this cafe.

Hard work if you have a pram/wheelchair as its up a lot of steps. Staff are quite slow (although friendly and helpful) and the tables and chairs are very cramped. Toilets were clean.

This little gem is hidden upstairs opposite the main shopping mall in scarborough above a bakers shop. This cold have been just any other high street featureless cafe' but some one with a well developed sense of style turned a very ordinary room into a classical italian garden themed room complete with pergola, columns and statues in a very well lit airy space. The food was freshly prepared and the waitress service very helpful, describing the various Cafe' style dishes. Best of all the Tea was not the usual catering bland tasteless brew but a very refreshing taste of refreshing tea.

We were walking through Scarborough as part of our hike along the Cleveland Way and after walking past the Beach Huts in North, heading towards South Bay, we were on the lookout for somewhere to grab a quick meal. Everywhere seemed crazy busy, but luckily we found this place without a queue - possibly now I understand why no queue though as just wasn't great. My husband's small fish was huge! but he didn't enjoy so ate less than half. My battered sausage and chips was good/average quality, but the sausage was teeny! Still, we ate enough to fill our bellies so we could continue on our walk.

Average fish and chips. Only worth visiting for the vintage styling. Take away service with 10% added to sit in prices. Says freshly cooked to order, the wait said this the taste buds beg to differ. Good portion for chip butty however fish batter want very crisp and soggy at parts.

I can't understand some of the reviews on here. I think people should review things based on reality. This is not Starbucks, Costa or Greggs. It's not Pret, McDonalds or Burger King either. It's a facility within a charity aiming to bring alive an era before these massive organisations had taken over our society. Manned not by highly paid executives rolling out strategy to beat the competition but run on a shoestring by volunteers and a few paid employees who are providing memories for a public who remember station waiting rooms and buffet bars exactly like the Signals cafe. This NOT a commercial operation, it is part of the exhibit of the railway buffet bars of the 40'-60's when a certain Dr Beeching took an axe to the railways which provided links to towns an villages throughout the country. Review it in the context of it's situation. To the women who were on duty when my family of 5 adults and 2 children called, thanks for providing us with the food and drinks which I remember from mainline and local stations operating pre Beeching cuts. It let us pass an hour in the type of buffet which was commonplace in my young days. Also gave me an opportunity to educate my youngsters over the life I used to live in and brought much of what they had just experienced in the steam journey from Whitby. A thorough authentic experience in keeping with the North Yorkshire Railway objectives To other reviewers who were less than appreciative of the reconstruction of the rail experience pre 60's, I suggest you volunteer your time and skills to one of the thousands of charities in the U.K. who are doing their best to serve their local communities. It might just help you come to grips with life and appreciate the work others do to help their fellow human beings.
