Great service by the staff. They were all very helpful. We were a party of eight but the food came quickly and was nice. Very clean toilets. Would highly recommend.

Been to the carvery breakfast here a number of times. The selection is fabulous with plenty of continental and English breakfast options. All the staff are attentive and do not rush you at all. I drink decaff tea, and staff were happy to supply me with as many teabags as I wanted to go with my breakfast.

Good cheese and onion pie! First meal I've had with my dad in a few years and it was a lovely time.

The welcome was friendly, straight to our table. My grandson was welcomed to play. The service was exceptional, and getting a £10 birthday gift was just the icing on the cake!

During our stay at the hotel next door, we visited this establishment three times—for breakfast, a carvery, and a regular evening meal from the menu. Each experience exceeded our expectations. The breakfast selection was extensive, offering plenty of variety and impressive quality, especially given the reasonable price. The carvery and evening meal were equally tasty. We also appreciated the excellent selection of English beers. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, ensuring we felt welcome and well looked after. We left very satisfied after every meal and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommended!

Lovely food and staff service next to none

A bit more pricey than I would expect but the food and service is very good. I think the Sunday roast could have a bit more sides or let you choose the sides you want.

We had a fabulous Christmas Day three course dinner. The food was fantastic especially the carvery. The staff were second to none. The guy in the red Christmas suit was particularly helpful and made sure everything was running smoothly. It was super organised. It was very busy but not chaos which has been our experience at venues on Christmas Day in the past. My grand daughter was given on a selection when leaving which was a lovely touch. Thankyou for a lovely afternoon and will definitely be going again next year.

Fabulous morning, food,service and atmosphere was great, our little elf heather was so helpful and smiling as were the whole team and we were a large family gathering! They made it a very happy morning, and deserve praise, the grandchildren we’re so relaxed and happy which is what we wanted and Santa was great and sang with the children, thankyou wonderful staff

Went for a carvery with 3 of my friends, food was nice. Was there just over an hour, felt pressured to leave as the abrupt man with the beard kept staring at us as if he wanted us to go. Left shortly after this. Waitresses were lovely and service was great.

Big thanks to Mike who served us on the carvery part. We asked him if he had any scraps for the dogs. He gave us a huge box. Lovely gent. Smiling happy. And great customer service 👍 food spot on as always and the floor staff are all great thankyou for a lovely afternoon

Every time I come to the Sheldon arms I never have a bad word to say. You can tell witch chef is on with the presentation and quality of the food. Carl. The waiting lady is very friendly and polite and nothing is to much trouble for her she feels like a friend when I visit the establishment. Shana. Also Lauren. Fantastic team.

Sophie the manger, was very informative about the new plum pudding ale. She even gave me a free sample which was really nice of her. Great experience will definitely be returning!

Had a lovely meal turned up last minute on a very busy Sunday and still got a table. The Carvery was delicious. Happy I'm very grateful that was accommodated thanks Pete.

Absolutely disgusted. The only thing the food was nice although expensive. I booked a table for 2.00 for me and my friend. We was having such a nice time until at 3.30, someone came over and said our table is booked for someone else. I said that's fine, but can we take our drinks and sit somewhere else in which she replied no, there is nowhere else for you to sit. Then 5 mins later another person came over and told us he needed our table. So we basically got threw off our table and made to stand up. Nowhere on my confirmation email did it say we only get an hour and half if it did I would not of booked. I even clicked on to the blue bit of the email, never said anything atall. So me and my friend who I have not seen for ages were made to cut it short because we had to stand. Won't be ever going back absolutely discusting service. We don't mind giving the table up for others to eat but at the very least have a seating area for people to just drink like every other pub.

Amazing staff, beautiful food, highly recommend and will be returning!

Been here many times and never had any issues, but today I ordered the medium carvery and asked for turkey, I received two slices which were seriously thin. I'm not one to build up the plate to the size of a pyramid with vegetables but the portion of meat was paltry. Not sure what the carver was thinking. Get a grip and deliver proper value. On a positive note the service was fine.

Lovely food,service is good great atmosphere

Just had the carvery here, after doing some shopping nearby. The chef is friendly, cheerful, and EVERYTHING was delicious... the Yorkshire puddings were tender and crispy, the stuffing was beautifully seasoned and the potatoes were crisp. The selection of trimming was nothing short of impressive, and in my opinion, for just under £17 for the large plate, excellent value for money.

There really is very little to fault. It was a very well presented location, inside and out. It was reassuringly busy, but no wait required to get a table for a walk-in. Staff were friendly and presentable. Carvery price was reasonable and there was a wide selection to choose from, both meat and veg. Food was well cooked and hot. The location right next to the tram line was a pleasant surprise for the enthusiast, but no disruptive or noisy. Even the fairly busy road didn't impact the ambiance. The place well deserves 5 stars, but if I had to find something to comment on... Consistency of server would have probably made it easier on the staff. Two different servers tried to take our drinks order and I think we had three different servers total. Didn't spoil the experience at all and probably an easy fix. 😊 Getting out of the car park took a moment too - traffic lights right next tot the exit and traffic feeding from the left mean that, at busy times, you are relying on goodwill of other road users. 1st time at The Sheldon Arms today. Beautiful food and great service at a good price. Well worth a return visit.

Gorgeous tasty food and Leah is fantastic! We go for dinner on a Friday and have never had a bad meal. Fish and chips and beef fajitas being a highlight. We were late for our booking due to the buses and Leah was wonderful and found us a seat. Her service was excellent!

I cannot compliment the staff enough for our visit. Super helpful from start to finish, and very friendly. We had two carveries, and considering it was a quiet Monday evening, I was surprised to find everything super fresh and very tasty. We will definitely be coming again!

We regularly visit the Sheldon arms for breakfast or a meal later in the day. We find it excellent. The food is superb, the staff are welcoming and it’s well run. We would recommend it to anyone.

Friendly pub located next to the hotel where we stayed. Very welcoming, quick service at the bar. We decided to have a meal and were offered the carvery or the table menu. We ordered off the menu and weren't disappointed. Would go again. I had the Lees steak pie, which was so full of tender braised steak, gravy served as a side, there was no room in the pie for anything extra! Thin pastry, no soggy bottom here, cooked perfectly.

We have been for the Carvery breakfast a few times now and never fails to impress. Lots of parking, quickly shown to a table. Plenty of breakfast choices- Juices, coffee, tea, Cereals, yoghurts, pastries and toast. Available on the Carvery breakfast is bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, black pudding and a choice of eggs fried, scrambled or poached. The sausage and bacon are really good quality, not cheap rubbish. Keep doing what you're doing it was thoroughly enjoyed.

A good selection of food and plenty of seating. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was tasty, but sadly the cheese pie was really dry.

All you can eat breakfast whilst meeting a friend. There is plenty of choice and friendly staff.

My wife and I called in here today what a wonderful experience we had from the moment we walked in we was offered a Dining table of our choice the staff were all absolutely amazing the food was wonderful and the pub/ restaurant was spotless and clean we will definitely be returning many thanks for your kind and wonderful hospitality 5 STARS from My wife and myself..

Went in to the Sheldon for breakfast everything you could want was on offer cereal pastry’s toast jam tea coffee and as much English breakfast as you could eat the quality was really good enjoyed everything

Food is not right for the area, it's posh food at really expensive prices. Keep things simple and reduce the cost and alot more customers will come. We're staying at the travelodge next door and if the meals were considerably cheaper we would eat there around 3 times per week. As soon as we realised there was a pub next door that does food we were happy until we seen the prices. 😐

Food was standard pub food options plus a carvery. Carvery was good with plenty of options. Burgers were tasty. The mixed grill was big and well cooked. The pie was packed full of meat. Olivia our waitress was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was busy but Olivia kept checking everything was ok and kindly fetched us additional items and drinks.

For the price paid for a standard carvery dish it wasn't worth the money. You're allowed two different meats, and the chef gave me two slices of meat he sliced so thin it looked like sandwich meat. Potato and parsnips were hard. Yorkshires were nice and large, and mash creamy. Overall, not impressed and wouldn't pay that price again.

Food reasonably good. Carvery is expensive on a Sunday, but very popular so it works well for pub. Staff pleasant although very busy. We arrived early and dissapointed that there was nowhere to drink before, as all tables used for food so bar area non existent. This meant we informed other members to arrive just before meal as nowhere to have pre meal drink.

Big restaurant but it has a cosy feeling. Tastefully decorated and clean. We had a meal from the main menu and it was very tasty. Next time we're going to try the carvery, it looked delicious. Staff very friendly. What more do you want? We'll be back!

I've been here a few times with family. Recently celebrated my sister's 21st and it was absolutely amazing, it couldn't have been better. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. As someone who struggles with social anxiety the staff were absolutely amazing when taking orders and explaining certain prices/brands etc and I felt really comfortable. It's a great community area and is apart of a lot of my core memories. There's a play area outside for kids and plenty of non-alcoholic beverages to choose from if you want a really nice family meal. The carvery is also 10/10!! Drinks are a decent price too :)

Lovely and clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Good choice of food with offers on, children ate half price with a good choice for them. I had the carvery and the beef was cooked to perfection (for me) and melted in my mouth. Everything was hot, which sometimes you don't find. Worth another visit.

First visit and was very impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness of the staff and the quality of food. We had our 4 year old grandson with us and he loved his choice of food. I had the carvery which was delicious, the beef was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. If we are on that side of Manchester again, we will certainly pay another visit.

After a days out driving we called into the Sheldon arms for a carvery takeaway. We got so much it did Sunday and Monday meal we got loads of food. The staff was great and friendly. The carvery was very full but we got a great meal for 2 which did 2 days . All for £31

We visit Seldon on a weekly basis, always welcomed with a smile abd cheerful staff. Good food, space is good. Had a celebration evening there. Excellent place to meet either for pleasure or business.

Had lovely time at the Sheldon today , was greated by the staff on the bar (Katie B) she was very kind and friendly and make an excellent coffee may I add, me and my friend were seat in the restaurant with table service from the lovely Shana ( who always has a smile on her face and actually interacts with us, which was very kind) , who took our order and was very friendly. Once we had gotten our food which was lovely may I add, we saw a kitchen member of staff ( refilling the carvery and keeping it fresh)and thanked them for the food and shout out to the Chefs Scott and Paige for the delicious Philly cheese steak sandwich and the Burger . Overall 10 out 10 experience

Food was lovely but staff did a lot of standing around and talking while I was waiting about 3/4 people in a corner talking with backs to customers One even talking about hungover they was I think drinks prices should be on a menu as well £13 for 2 drinks seemed very expensive

Stopped off for lunch after a long motorway drive. Despite being local, I've never been before and it was really nice. Food was OK, and child's portion was massive. Lovely staff and nice inside. All in all a nice place to grab lunch/dinner.

Been going in here a while now and I love it. The food is good and the staff are really friendly. There's a speed quiz every Thursday which is very entertaining and the staff are are always smiling and very helpful. I often go in after going fishing on the nearby canal. Big shout out to Katie and Sophie this week who make a great team behind the bar and always keep us entertained with their banter.

The carvery at Sheldons is by far superior to any carvery place in Tameside the queen's Arms in Audensahw everyone buzzes off is not that great and Flechters arms in Denton ain't great either I mean there set plates are good but we're talking carvery here as that is what I had. Bit expensive like every other place now only reason they are getting 4 stars is because one of our plates got put on the wrong table and we had noticed and had to tell them that was our plate to which they said oh ours will be out soon and then we'll we was right they brought that plate over after realising other than that was great.

You can't go wrong with a carvery.

We came today for a carvery most of the food was cold from the hot plate.. (not happy) I asked for turkey as it had run out the server (was very abrupt & grumpy) absolutely not the way to treat customers!!.. l will be coming again... (but we will order from the menu)we have been before when we order fresh from the menu the food has been lovely & hot cooked well great service... The carvery today was atrocious.. sort it out or lose customers 😊

There was a slight mix-up, due to the computer ordering system (I think), that meant some of our Mains came out before any Starters. They were quickly taken back again. The portions were a good size, and the food hot. We will be back!

great place for carvery, however it's hit and miss I think as the first time I came here - the beef was done pink and perfect for me, however the next few times I came it was overcooked and dry - but I guess that's subjective to how everyone likes their beef cooked

Met up with our eldest grandson, partner and baby all the way from Australia with our daughter and son in law. We all enjoyed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good variety of options for the food from snacks to starters and main meals. For me the bread was too thick and rose marie cause took the flavour from the prawns😭 but thick wholemeal bread seems to be the norm these days would love to have a sandwich with thin bread. Just have it at home nowadays. Thank the young lady who served us. She was lovely 😍

Was the same carvery we usually have. Was very disappointed due to the meats not looking at their best. The vegetables didn't taste very nice and were warm. Not usually like this, usually lovely, hit and appetising but not this visit.

We had a table booked for 6pm We arrived and was seated we. had alook at the menue mywife decided to have a calvery. I wanted something els at 6.30 a wateress came up to us and said you will have to vacate the table for 7 pm as we have a party arriving .we addressed the manageress as the restaurante was empty and we was told it was quiz night starting at 7pm and asked why we have to leave we didnt have time to order a sweet we are both pensinoners and have to let our meal settle in the mean time they had given a table to a party of 4 people the manageress apogised but why was this aloud to happen in the first place this is how we was treated at the sheldon arms clearly don't cater for older people disgusting we was given one hour with the table.you have not heard the last of this

Here for an hour on my own before meeting a friend. Just had soup. Roasted vegetable. All I can say is that it was a weird texture, almost like pureed vegetables you would happily do for babies. No liquid as such. Taste was fine just texture all wrong.

We were early to check into the Travelodge next door. So we popped in here to have a drink and some lunch. Wow the carvery was delicious and struggled to finish my plate (Northern gravy was amazing and that's coming from a Southerner!!!) We could have sat outside for evening for a few more G&T's but we had a concert to attend, Great food, service and would come back.

Food was really good, especially the fish and chips my friends had. Due to a gluten intolerance, I also had fish and chips (gluten free style), being new to. Gf can honestly say the gluten free fish and chips was not as good as the non gluten free option, but was very good and happy to go again, for more gluten free meals. Staff are amazing.
