The Silver Cross in City of London, Westminster

Went here one evening and it said outside that there was good fish and chips. There is no service inside the store; you have to order and pick up everything yourself. The waiters are unfriendly and don't want to do their job. There was almost nothing available from the menu and even the drinks were denied. However, the fish and chips that were praised outside were not available outside at all. Bad loading and not recommended!

Unglaublich Enttäuschend. Vor der Tür wurde groß angekündigt Fish&Chips und sobald man drinne war, hieß es haben wir nicht. Genau dasselbe mit den Angeboten Getränken auf der Karte. Schlechtester Laden Ever…. Keine Empfehlung.

Monumental tourist scam. The dishes are tasteless and poorly served in quantity. The service, let's not talk about it, is unpleasant, to be avoided without any ambiguity. Too bad we can't give less than one star. Had to ask 4 times to clean a table.

The beers were expensive but London prices. Our food arrived quickly but we had to chase the drinks order. Apparently, someone had thrown the ticket away. The location was perfect for us.

The food wasn't very good we had the Christmas dinner. The potatoes were like rocks and the Brussel Sprouts tasted like fairy liquid. There wasn't enough gravy. The member of staff told us to go to the bar for more gravy instead of doing it for us.

Walked by on a Saturday night around 6pm and decided to give this place a shot. Tried to order: bbq chicken (not available), chicken blt (not available), steak sandwich (not available, maybe easier to just ask what /is/ available?), and finally a burger. Saddest burger I've ever had, and I'm glad to now see other reviews in here mentioning how bad it tastes, and how incredibly silly it is to write "with side of fries and onion rings" when you are given exactly 2 onion rings. Absolute joke, but according to the restaurant replies on these reviews, this is exactly "to spec". Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

We got two holiday toasties which came with roasties. The potatoes were inedible, so dried out and the gravy (which was nice) couldn’t help. The sandwich was so overcooked on the other side it was difficult to cut through. The hour long wait for food didn’t help. Our money was wasted here.

Very good atmosphere, with nice service. The food was amazingly good and what we loved was that it wasn't cold! This is unique in England!

Great experience from the outside appearance down to the food and experience. We where worried this would be a tourist trap given the location and it was not. Great fish and chips, location was convenient, service was very good. Beers are decently priced. Overall a very good experience.

The place seems nice, the atmosphere too. But the waiters are not nice, very unfriendly and not at all smiling! The dishes are expensive for the little food on the plate. I ordered a “Turkey Dinner” and found the whole thing very bland! Tasteless and tasteless! The “Katsu Chicken Burger” was good but nothing more. Beware of tourists, because the order is made at the bar and you have to pay straight away! 45 pounds for 2 dishes and 1 beer + a coke… that’s a lot to pay!

Very nice pub. Around Christmas time it is very busy during the day, but around 6 pm it is not too bad. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere in the pub was really 10/10

Tasty food, the quantity of nachos was large and they were delicious, also the sandwich and the chips and chips.

I came to the Silver Cross for a corporate event and I had a wonderful time - I can 100% say that is down to the lovely, welcoming and friendly staff and the delicious food. when my group was downstairs, we were served by reiltin, who was so kind and unbelievably helpful to our group. The experience of our corporate guest, who put a large tab behind the bar, was bettered exponentially by having such a knowledgeable and friendly bartender. when we moved upstairs, flora was equally friendly and knowledgeable - altogether the kindness at this pub made me sure that myself, and my company, will 100% return. thank you to reiltin and flora, for making our evening.

Staff were lovely but food pretty terrible, even for a chain pub like this. Food that makes you sigh a bit when it arrives.

Absolutely fantastic pub! Ordering online or at the bar might not be for everyone but it was very convenient and the service was very fast considering how busy they were. Oh and the food was fantastic!!!

Wonderful pub, my sister is celiac and they were very helpful about it. They have an entirely gluten free menu and the food does not disappoint at all. Highly recommend if you are in the area

Stopped in at the silver cross. The place is lovely and the bartenders are very attentive, patient, and efficient. The tables are kept clean. Decorated elegantly for Christmas season. We did not order food.

Atmospheric place! Close to nice streets and Christmas market. Easy with the hop-on hop-off bus. Only thing was you had to order at the bar. I was amazed! And had a delicious English breakfast😊

We honestly kind of chose this spot because it had a table open, after 3 attempts to get into other places, but it was still bustling (a good sign). The service was quick, they had really fresh gin cocktails, and I think 4 different cask ales. We also enjoyed the food!

Really nice pub. Excellent internet, good athmosphere. But what really made the experience was one of the bar staff, Amado. He took great care of clients was unfailingly patient. The world needs many more Amados...

Ordered the fish and chips! It was lovely, but we waited an hour for the food to arrive. There were a lot of guests so it was very busy.

A lovely pub in the heart of London. Really good atmosphere and really friendly bar staff. The food was good and it wasn't too expensive, considering it's location. Lots of different seating areas, with a downstairs bar too. I look forward to revisiting this pub on a regular basis... 😁💥🏆

Horrible food cold tasteless overpric3d long wait Burger burnt ( probably reheated few times ) chips different sizes mixed ( probably they run out of chunky chips and added smaller ones to fill the plate Waiter asked if everything was OK when I replied back not really she mumbled something like I ll tell the manager and disappeared ! Stay away from this place They trade on the very central location This is a proper touristic trap

We can only speak to our experience - quite likely the worst fish & chips we've ever had - fish was massively overcooked - burned to a crisp... Fries were ok but then hard to wreck that. Not sure if this is a once off or new chef.. not good... Hopefully they see and correct this.

I ordered a burger. The service was not great and it was the worst burger I have ever had. It was completely dry, tasteless, the 2 miserable onion rings were stiff, how did it leave your kitchen? I was the first to order food at my table and I can safely say I was the last.

Only had a spicy mojito here which tasted amazing but was missing the mint and lemon “accessories” that were advertised. Very pleasant interior and atmosphere, though, nice escape from all the crowds, it was busy but not too much.

Always our favourite rest place for food and drink.. You will always find a seat, no matter how busy it gets. Wide variety of food and drinks.. Service is never what time they tell you.. But you can't beat the value and price.. Always clean, the staff are polite and helpful..

After a walk around Trafalger Square and Whitehall called in to the Siver Cross for lunch , RoastBeef was excellent and the staff super friendly.

A nice green king boozer. A bit soulless, but not awful. Eclectic mix of people.

Looked up online for a pub with football coverage in heart of london and chose this one and loved it but price for a peroni £7.50 daylight robbery

Spacious, fairly open and large bar, ideal for bigger groups. Friendly staff and a great place for a chat. I sadly can't speak for the food as I did not sample it.

Came here on a Sunday....it was crowded but was able to get a table pretty quickly. Sticky toffee pudding was divine!

The servers and service was really nice. Might not be the most authentic pub/ bar but the food is decent and the beer was nice, cold and local.

The restaurant is quite large, has a nice atmosphere, is efficient with self-ordering and prepayment in the hall, has a wide variety of menus and is cost-effective, and is especially good because it has small plates so you can eat a variety of dishes. You can also use free water on your own. The father and daughter went and ate fish and chips and three dishes (chicken, potatoes) from the small plates, and drank Fruity IPA beer. Everything was delicious, and I especially liked the IPA beer, which has a fruity flavor to reduce bitterness. £50.75

Today I went there ordered food and multiple drinks, the staff was attentive friendly and communicated well in particular the staff member with the bunny ears. Dealt with all my requests with no issues or problems including when I messed up my order.

The worst staff in the world. The lady at the bar was so rude. the drinks ordered wrong twice. She was taking orders and speaking with her friend or college, who was drinking at the bar. She is working at the tourist place and she was blaming my accent that she didn't understand what I would like - cocktail Margarita she gave me beer Moretti. I told her that the order I'd wrong, she asked me to pay again. When I told her, she didn't listen to the customer because she was chatting with the guy. She did cocktails for me, but again, it was wrong cocktails. After all this spending time at the bar, my food was cold. My day was ruined. I was with my family travelling around London at nice weather, lovely places. but this lady event didn't say SORRY. thank you. I never ever come back to this place.

The order I made at the desk was given written. Because I got no reciept, I couldn't check the order. So, one meal was forgotten. I placed new order which gave us a free Coke. Food was ok eventually. When my son went to ask toothpicks, they said that there is store open nearby. OK food, but lowest service in London. Very sad place.

Popped into the Silver Cross after a nice long walk along the south bank with our pooch Obi. We found the pub via the Guiness website as we were looking for somewhere that does Guiness 0.0. Very friendly staff fussed over our little fella, and were at hand with doggy treats. Reasonably priced drinks for a city centre pub. Fairly big inside and nice long bar so didnt feel cramped ordering a drink. Only downside was that the table we sat at didnt have empty glasses and dishes taken away during the hour and a half we were there.

A very central and decent historic London pub. I can't rate the food, as I didn't eat there - but it looked nice. Pints were over 6 pounds but I guess that's not that expensive for near Trafalgar Sq. Probably why I usually stick to the Wetherspoons. The bar staff were all really nice. Waiting staff were really, truly, running around. I hope they all get paid well.

Nice, spacious tent. It takes some getting used to having to order food and drinks at the bar, but it is convenient. Nice menu with dishes to share. Very tasty!!

The pub was very relaxed and had a nice ambience. We found a place for Sunday evening without any problems. There was a special menu for Sundays. The food and drinks were very tasty.

We enjoyed a pre theatre lunch here and were happy with the food and the service.

Beware as this is a tourist trap with lots of fried food offerings. Terrible quality. Waited an hour and food was simply awful. We ordered small plates. Beers were good. Avoid and get off the beaten track for quality food if that is what you're seeking.

Seriously I’m shocked about the high reviews here. Ok, it’s fine for beer and the beer was good. The waiter was nice enough but the kitchen was extremely slow. That’s the only reason I’m giving it two stars because the food was literally the nastiest food I have ever had. We got the shared platter and out of five dishes no one wanted to have more than a bite or two of each. And we were starving. Everything was either greasy or extremely bitter. I’m guessing the oil is rarely changed. It took almost an hour to get our food. Please avoid unless you are there for beers…then it is perfectly fine.

Beef sunday roast was dry and poor quality. Low value for money.
