The Spirit Vaults in South Derbyshire

Five of us went for a family birthday meal. Have been before and had a good meal. On this occasion, very disappointed. We were given the menus and made our choices and a second server came and took our order. However, were then told that the Pheasant and Venison were not available, so two alternatives were ordered, one being the Hake. However, fish and chips was brought instead. It was offered to be swapped but that would have meant waiting for their meal while everyone else ate theirs. So a double whammy, not only the first choice not available but the wrong substitute brought. When I came to pay and was asked how everything was, I explained the disappointment of the unavailability of the Pheasant and Venison and the wrong meal being brought. At that point I was told that the Pheasant was available and the server had made a mistake. How frustrating. They then consulted the manager and removed the charge for the fish and chips as a gesture. Overall not the best birthday meal.

We had Sunday lunch today 6th October it was absolutely outstanding the food was excellent, the staff were friendly and prompt I spoke to Oscar assistant manager to say compliments to the chefs the food was amazing I would reccomend The Spirit Vaults to come and dine here 10/10 The Rousseau family .Thank you .

Very nice beer, they brew their own, but also others on tap as well. Sharing plates at lunchtime very good value and very tasty. Saturday lunchtime it was full and plenty of buzzy atmosphere. Very friendly female manager.

Crap attitude from the fella behind the bar. Eye watering price. Won't return. Just another over priced average boozer with the belief that they are offering something utterly transformational when the reality is.................... 200+ characters.

Very welcoming and friendly. Vegetarian dishes made with good quality ingredients and very enjoyable. Everything was well presented and the staff seemed proud of their establishment and quite rightly so!

Eccellent food, exvellent wine, eccellent beer ad excellent service what more could you ask. Fish and chips was good, sausage and mash was good, pie of the day was good.

Booked with family for Sunday Lunch for 85th birthday celebration. Food and service excellent. The pork belly and roast beef were delicious and served with plenty of veg and extra gravy. Serve the best cauliflower cheese. Deserts well presented. Enjoyed the caramelised banana and chocolate mousse. Water was provided for the table without having to ask for it. The waiting staff serving us were very efficient. For a party of seven all the dishes came out at the same time. High quality food and service. Will definitely be returning.

Great Sunday roast, shame you have to have 2 or 3 courses as we were full after the roast dinner and still had to spend £23 each

Amazing food and atmosphere! This is a perfect date night or family night restaurant. We took our 10 month old with us (prebooked) and they gave us a table with a highchair and tiny cutlery for her which was a very cute touch! The food was delicious, even the babies chicken was cooked to perfection, moist and full of flavour. Can't recommend it enough! Thank you to the team, we had a wonderful night.
