Exceptional Sunday lunch with family. I went for the mixed meat offering, and it did not disappoint. Service is brilliant and the staff are super efficient and friendly.

Lovely pub just went in for a drink .

Food was good pub grub and the people serving were pleasant and helpful. The Toulouse suasage gravy was particularly nice and the steak good and cooked as requested. Only let down was that people who came in well after us and ordered well after us were served their meal before us.

Whilst it came to just shy of £70 for two adults and a child, the food was absolutely excellent and I can’t wait to go back again.

Warm venue. Just popped in for a quiet drink.

Very disappointing - went for lunch yesterday - it was freezing cold inside, there were were no hot drinks available and service was very slow as there appeared to be only one person serving. The one redeeming factor was that the food was good.

After visiting the spread eagle for a few times to have a drink we decided to have a meal & we have nothing but praise for the chef and the team as we thoroughly enjoyed it and as we live local we will be eating back at the spread eagle for sure ✔️

Nice old bar but the bar staff are a bit miserable tend to ignore you whilst serving you and are more interested in talking to others

Sandwiches, quiche and pork pies were excellent. Coffee pots replenished regularly. Very suitable location for our family and friends to gather after the funeral. Thank you.

I went to the Spread Eagle with a group of family and friends to celebrate the life of a member of the family after her funeral this afternoon.

Great area, great food and beverage selection and courteous staff.

Beer a little on pricey side, need to learn stock control. Bar should have all drinks customers required consider a regular drinks like melott and Malbec Friendly and cosy bar

Very disappointing. My friend and I both had Roast beef sandwiches. The beef was fatty with lots of gristle and cold. It was served in a brioche bun which didn't go withe the beef and gravy.

Nice venue for wake after funeral at Preston cemetery. Food and service very good.

I cannot believe the most recent review’s that give this place a bad name. Bar staff would never spit in someone’s face or bar someone for not being British. BNP attitude?? Get lost,man,you’ve probably not even been in there before. This is a fantastic pub/restaurant with a wonderful reputation. I highly recommend it for the wonderful staff,management,choice of beer’s,price’s and most of all….. the food. We were in tonight and the food just melted in my mouth. Everything is obviously made from scratch with fresh ingredient’s. I’m a Michelin star chef so I know when food is good. Who else offer’s freshly made Confit Duck,Bacon Chop,Smoked Haddock Chowder,Sea Bream,Sausage and Caramelised Onion with mash etc anywhere else in North Tyneside?? The most you’d get in any other pub in the area is a rustler’s burger with a pickle in!! Book in advance as it get’s busy on the weekend’s for food. And don’t even get me started on how delicious the Sunday roast’s are. Don’t go anywhere else. Go to The Spread Eagle.

I had heard good things about their Sunday dinners. I wasn't able to find a way to book and hoped for the best. Arrived at 1pm, and we were seated immediately. The order was taken promptly, and food arrived very quickly. 2 had beef, and 1 had lamb. There was a great selection of vegetables to share (cabbage, peas, green beans), and the plate had mashed potato, mashed swede, roast carrot, roast potatoes and a big squishy yorkie. We all thought the meats were okay (lamb a bit bland and you can't beat featherblade if you can get it). Overall, it was a great experience and value for money.

A fantastic meal and an attentive staff. Will be happy to come again and will recommend to friends.

A fantastic put to go to for food and/or drinks. Very friendly staff with a welcoming atmosphere. There is seating indoors and outdoors, a separate restaurant to the bar area and a car park. If you are thinking of going, book a table

Lush pub. Had a gorgeous carvery but was just a little too small. I like a lot of mash and more than two roasters. Though small every part was very great. But I'm a heathen who likes Sunday dinner so big I need a nap afterwards.

Always enjoy coming here, a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the food is absolutely amazing, tried a Burger here once, was absolutely fantastic. And was here yesterday and had a Sunday dinner before watching the England World Cup game there, was amazing food. Would absolutely recommend :D

A great character pub, but I have to say that our Sunday lunch experience was a bit of a shambles due to chaotic and inexperienced staff. The food was slow to arrive and although tasty, mainly saved by the very good gravy, the meals had obviously been left waiting under the warming area as the beef was dry around the edges. Shame as we were looking forward to the meal as it has been recommended.

Just spent a frustrating and disappointing 45 mins in this so called classy local bar/resturant. Prebooked a sunday dinner for myself and my wife and when we arrived it was just a joke. A long queue at the bar for a drink and gave up waiting as the bar staff served anyone who came to the bar rather than the long queue of people waiting. Went to the restuarant part for our meal, no tables ready as they were full of dirty dishes. Eventually taken to a table which he cleaned for us and said he would return to take our order for food and drinks. Nobody came for 20 mins and after another customer complained she had been waiting ages for her order and they had served someone who came in after her we gave up and left. Unless they sort things out they will lose alll there customers.

Nice bar but on the expensive side. £12.40 for 2 pints of Heineken and a coke

Very nice, attended a small funeral wake. The buffet was very nice. The staff friendly and helpful.

Visited after a funeral yesterday. Sandwiches were lovely snd fresh and good choice and great for gluten free eaters. However, it was either sandwiches or pork pie that was the only choice. A plate of sausage rolls and a quiche would of made all the difference.

Very welcoming place, staff are very friendly polite and professional good choice of drinks and plenty of places to sit. Would recommend a visit

This pub had been recommended to me but I found it very disappointing. Surly bar staff, locals given preference at the bar. Locals unfriendly into the bargain. Didn't try the food, but won't be returning. Untidy outside with dead flowers in the window boxes. Locally the Gunner and the Sportsman are much better options.

Poor choice of vegetarian options - in fact, no choice, just one item on the main menu. Not uncommon - In the past all I have been able to eat were chips. We gave it one last try this evening and it was quite possibly the most disgusting meal I’ve eaten in a long time. The ‘trimmings’ consisted of almost raw carrots and sprouts. The roast potatoes looked and tasted like 2-3 day old ones that had been reheated. I complained to the waiter part way through the meal (he was apologetic) and again when I returned most of the meal uneaten (again he was apologetic and said he would pass my comments onto the chef). £15.95 I will not be returning.

Small menu, two chicken dishes were off, choice of 3 sweets but sticky toffee pudding was off so basically 2 to choose from and this was a Friday night at 6 pm. Main course served but had to wait for cutlery to be provided. Food was good but on the whole experience, poor.

Walked in to a rude reception. Had mask on as required told can't sit at table we didn't want to sit at. Left shortly afterwards. Didn't bother trying the service due to poor reception we received. Have been lots of times previously and it's been great. Guess the owner was having a really bad day.

Over priced food everything on menu with chips!!!

Took advantage of the August deal and booked a table for 5.30pm. Plenty of choice on the menu, though I would have liked to see a salad of some description on there, but that's just me! We had starter and main course, my bruschetta was amazing, husband had the black pudding turine and loved it. Mains, scampi and fries and rump steak, both very nice. No room for puds, but good selection. Table service for drinks as well as food, all social distancing rules in place and followed. Really nice meal in pleasant surroundings, with lovely staff :)

Looking forward to first family meal after the lock down, pub lunch, service very poor had to continually ask forks, spoon , sugar list goes on and on they forgot drinks , the food chips undercooked, vegetarian burgers full of peas awful. The burger bun was wet and l was charged full price even when eat out offer was on apparently you have to spend £ 20 ???? The manager seemed more bothered about playing golf .

Slow service and had to wait for the menus to be printed! On a Friday evening at seven 🧐, freezing cold interior with an overbearing fried fish smell, poor food quality especially the pork and undercooked cod.

Can’t fault the place, food is lovely, place is clean and the staff are genuinely nice people.. very cosy place to socialise with friends and a nice atmosphere.

Love this place but upon visiting between Christmas and New Year the bar ran out of loads of drinks and wines!!😥
