Nice restaurant prices are very economical and easy to order, food was alright give the fact that it was quite cheaper. Plenty of tables.

This good sized Weatherspoons pub is located just inside the Canterbury city wall and comprises two floors and a hotel. The pub is open all day serving breakfast and then dinner until late. The main public bar is on the ground floor, with a second satellite bar upstairs. This pub serves reasonable food including pizzas and burgers. It can become very busy late afternoon, however seating for small groups can normally be found at the very back (raised section) or upstairs.

I am a regular Wetherspoons visitor and have defended them many times over the years. Unfortunately the whole experience being a customer of this outlet has become very different. The food is now living up to the previously unjustified criticism. The burgers seem to have shrunk in recent times and the chicken is, in my view inedible. The last time I ordered chicken it had absolutely zero texture and turned to mush in my mouth, which I found revolting. I have not ordered food from them since. It just amazes me how many people seem to find it acceptable, because the venue is very well supported. The other problem is with the WiFi, which in conjunction with the app is a very important aspect of their business. For the last few weeks, it has been mostly impossible to use the app and at such a busy time of the year, I am quite honestly amazed at the reaction from staff when informing them about this. They have no interest whatsoever. Many local people that I know have had the same sort of experiences and eventually they will reap the rewards of very poor management.

Cheap room, but really nice & clean.

It is nice, but it does get very busy. We visited at midday on a Sunday and you had to wait for a table if you wanted food. Food is the usual Spoons menu. My Ultimate burger meal did look like it had been slapped on the plate, but I'm not paying top dollar so what do you expect. Will always revisit as it's cheap and cheerful.

Spent a little time here as we were stopping locally. Nice pub on two levels serving typical Spoons food and good value drinks. Good location in the city centre and very easy access too. When we visited it was full of French people so they must have got the message in Europe too. Nice one and thank you.

Very busy. Very noisy. Run out of a few food items and cocktails. Service was quick,l and friendly. Waitress collecting glasses and plates, were happy, jolly and joined in with a bit of banter. Makes all the difference.

A spontaneous pleasant stay. Fantastically located. Incredibly priced. The room was spacious, the bed was wide, the bathroom clean and they offered more than we expected. Safe and secure, convenient and comfortable.

My order was efficiently taken by a member of bar staff and on arrival my meal, a small breakfast, had been nicely cooked and prepared and tasted fine. A busy pub at one end of the main street which is clearly popular.

Great value with a happy feeling pub.

30 guys went there for a lunchtime Christmas drink, 5 hours later we walked out. pPenty of space upstairs with a warm spoons welcome from the staff.

Bouncers are horrible, wasn’t let back in for being too drunk. I am drunk right now and typing this. They said I was stumbling about but had three drinks. I don’t know what power trip these guys think they have but spoons need to think about the security staff they hire. I’m 19 years old and just wanted a few drinks with my friends.

Nice and simple hotel in a prime location. Pub is busy but the staff are still accommodating, and they drew me this excellent T Rex picture. Very impressive!

I worked for ten years in these pubs, done the morning shift solo and I couldn't have made a worse breakfast if I tried. There were 2 people in the downstairs bar and I got given a plate of beans with a sausage and an egg the first go around (ordered a large breakfast). After sending it back, I got a large breakfast, minus the tomato. Hash browns were obviously not freshly cooked, bacon microwaved and only cooked on the grill on one side, the mushroom had been microwaved too. Absolutely terrible breakfast, especially so considering that it was first thing in the morning. Whoever was in the kitchen on morning shift of 28/11/24 should be retrained. If you want a spoons breakfast, go to the St. Dunstans one, Ingoldsby has staff that obviously don't care.

Been a few times for breakfast before hitting the shops. Typical weatherspoons breakfast; great value & quick service. A big hit is the unlimited refills for coffee. Seems a nice pub, always busy with 2 floors, big bars & plenty of seating.

Very busy Wetherspoons with a hotel in Canterbury. Staff were very friendly. We stayed here for two nights and the room was huge and very quiet. Everything was very clean. Our window looked out onto the cathedral. O nly issue we had was the smoke alarm going off at midnight and we had leave the premises for a while. We were compensated with a free breakfast. We would stay again though.

Typical Weatherspoons establishment situated in Canterbury, cannot go wrong for value and atmosphere.

As usual excellent value for money wonderful choice of good basic food Tables could be cleaned better as when wiped were still wet Toilets upstairs not easy for elderly/disabled there is a lift but what if it was out of order

As far as a Spoons goes it was nice. Breakfast was great as always and staff served as fast as they could.

well we have visited this Weatherspoon on a regular basis when we go to Canterbury today it was busy we looked for a table as luck would have it a couple got up and said we could have theirs WELL !!! the under manager came to clear the table my husband went to sit down he was moaning and muttering about him under his breath. I said just ignore him then he preceded to go to the kitchen and moan about us the object of this comment is why oh why do you have such a rude man working for you we have seen him on numerous occasions talking to the staff terribly they all work hard there is no need to employ such a obnoxious person Thank you to the two nice girls that served me at the bar you more than made up for him BUT what must the tourists think about a person like this serving them I say if you don't like the job leave its as simple as that AND have Respect for your staff and customers

Disappointing food. Wetherspoons use to be a great place to eat but they must be going down hill or struggling financially. I wanted to order sausage and mash but they’ve reduced their menu. No problem, I get a chilly non-carne on jacket potato. I paid for cheese. When it came the portion size was that for a child. Hardly any chilly and about a tablespoon of cheese on top. I’m quite a skinny person and notorious for not being a big eater so for me to say that was too small is saying something. The staff were all friendly though. A bit rushed off there feet. It looks like the place needs to hire more people to help out. All round it just feels like the business is cutting corners and it shows!

Very busy on this particular day with a large coach party arriving which naturally caused lengthy delays receiving our food order. Kudos to Zack on duty who was very apologetic and offered a refund of our meal. As it was a special date with a friend, celebrating her 90th birthday (this wasn't mentioned at the time) the courteous manner and genuine apologies from this member of staff was greatly appreciated. Thank you again, Zack.

Went in there for a breakfast this morning coffee machine filthy table I sat at was sticky and had what looked like brown sauce all over it that got on my coat.. toilets are absolutely disgusting walked straight back out without using.. finally breakfast arrived and was stone cold every bit of it. Took it back to the bar and was greeted by a grey haired guy who was really rude and not in the slightest friendly and didn't like that I wanted a refund still has to pay for the coffee though which I didn't drink due to the dirty machine..AVOID THIS HORRIBLE PUB!

Large pub over 2 floors, somewhat secluded. Belongs to the Wetherspoon chain and therefore has cheaper drink prices than the "normal" pubs. The pint here costs around £2.80, but then for Spanish, American or Belgian beer.

Called in for my tea had the fish and chips and the fish was lovely

We had a lovely stay in the hotel, the room was large and pleasant (although a little noisy at times, we don't know where that came from). The view of the cathedral was a nice little extra. The food is very good value and the pint cocktails are very nice.

It was a Saturday night so understandably was very noisy but the tables were clean, service fairly slick considering and the food to the usual standard.

An exceptional pub, with an amazing atmosphere! Whenever I'm in Canterbury, I will always visit here for lunch... The food is great, as are the staff. The type of pub you could take anybody too. Highly recommend!

It's a spoons, not much to say, nice, but the tables are all very close together which makes it very hard for wheelchair users. It has ramps and a lift but it is not very wheelchair friendly when it is packed.

Can't argue with the value for money. Prosecco for under fifteen pounds in a bar, and tastes good. Plate full of breakfast food arrives in about eight minutes, all of it acceptable. Well done on efficiency front guys. 👏

Popped in after a very long time, yesterday. We bought drinks and sat down to look at the menu......... a member of staff wearing a red and black checked shirt, beard and his hair in a ponytail was standing by the food preparation area, took the band out of his hair and shook his head then reapplied the band. He then went behind the bar and served a customer with drinks, then returned to the plating area without washing his hands. We decided not to eat. There is no point in speaking to "management" as the last time we went (several years ago) I was sitting eating when a customer threw his sweaty T shirt across the seating area and it landed around my head, I spoke to "management" who said she would look at the CCTV, she came back and said it wasn't on there. That was that.

A great Wetherspoons with very friendly and understanding staff. I use a wheelchair and have an Assistance dog and they were absolutely wonderful and whenever they see my girl they bring me a water bowl without me even needing to ask.

i went here for breakfast and i had the only good meal not fried or in a fast food in my 2 weeks journey in england. is very typical and the prices are honests. the staff is good and the food is very good!

It was a great day and had a lovely time in there.. Still in the centre and was easy to locate.. Had a perfect lunch with fish and chips Nd American Cheese burger alongside the drinks.. lovely people and such a no rush atmosphere..

Was a really nice atmosphere and enjoyed watching the football on my phone. The meal was ok. The staff were really friendly and i really enjoyed myself up until a member of security randomly came to me and said that he needed to search my bag (work bag) he asked me to empty it but i didn't want to miss the football or cause a scene so i said he can open it himself and search it, so he searched it behind me then left. Felt a bit weird about the interaction never had that happen to me before in a JD or anywhere for that matter.

Absolutely shocking customer service, the people working the bar were absolutely rude, food was shocking, asked for well done steaks they come out blue moaned 3 times before they got it right, refused a refund although the food was shocking. Then by time the other meal come out everyone had been finished. The team leader was also shocking she had no clue about anything I was asking just kept saying she would ask the kitchen. Bear in mind this restaurant was very quiet when we came, we spent a lot of money as we were celebrating a birthday which turnt into a waste. Will never ever return. Toilets are also dirty. So called toilet checks.

Well my 1st trip away alone and I wasn't disappointed. It was great (rm 101) was at the front of building but the street was pretty quiet considering it's so close to everything and was above main doors and smoking area, room was light airy and clean with tea, coffee facilities large TV and comfy beds also air con. Bathroom also clean, toilet clean and overall very well done. I will definitely be looking to stay with spoons again because for the price for 3 nights and in the UK was good, I don't know what I expected but I have come away feeling confident that I'd stay at the thomas ingoldsby again and will use wetherspoon for future adventures 🙂.

Food and beer are great. Table clearing is very poor. Staff need to be trained in clearing tables when customers leave. Manager nowhere to be seen

Good location for the city centre, great service and food

We stayed for three nights and enjoyed it. Good value for money! The beds are big and there is air conditioning which is a big plus in summer. We only ate in the upstairs area which was quite nice. Food and drinks are super cheap! (Pint of cider 2,48£) The location is also good, a few minutes from the bus station and the cathedral. Good place if you're visiting Canterbury!

This Wetherspoon is also a hotel. Very good service, very friendly staff, large and clean hotel room, bathroom with bath. Delicious food and drinks at the affordable price we have come to expect from Wetherspoon. In short, a great location to spend the night.

Very large pub. Inexpensive with a good range of food and drinks. Clean loos and generally a comfortable place to eat and/or drink.

Just filthy. Smelly, dirty toilets, sticky tables, food all over the floor. An embarrassment to Canterbury.

Location good. I can't speak about the hotel because I haven't stayed there before. But the restaurant and staff are generally helpful considering the amount of people who come in and out. Food quality is generally good but sometimes it gets cold but I put that down to the sheer volume of customers they need to serve on a daily basis.

Worst breakfast ever! Bacon didnt look cooked, same with the mushrooms. Fried eggs ended up like scrambled egg the way they were clearly thrown on the plate. my Husband was short changed an egg… We got the extra egg and some new bacon and mushrooms after complaining, but not much difference… I get its not a cafe where you can ask for something cooked a certain way BUT at least make sure the food is cooked and half presentable?! Other Wetherspoons manage it fine….

Good food and friendly staff. Its the start of june and the dozens of Pride flags stuck to the bar I found a bit tedious.

We have never been disappointed following a visit to this Wetherspoons and our last recent visit was further enhanced by an oriental waitress who was just charming and seemed to thoroughly enjoy her job identified by a lovely smile and attentivness

Can't say anything about the rooms We used this lovely Wetherspoons outlet a couple of times for something to eat and have a drink in. It's very well located in the City Prices are always value for money throughout Wetherspoons Staff are extremely hard working polite and friendly As with any place selling alcohol you have the usual Richard Craniums who would be under the influence even on a couple of wine gums but they are quickly sorted by the staff. We have no hesitation in returning here and recommending that it's given a visit when you are in the area. Compared with other places selling alcohol the prices are very low and it's the same branded quality throughout.

It is not a cliche, but the level of service, staff presentation is only as good as the Manager I would have liked to meet this Manager because for the enthusiasm and efficiency of all of the staff he must be complimented. The quality and value of the food and drink was very good as well!

Easy access, wheelchair accessible, outside seating, plenty of space inside, choice of cider, beer, ale, spirits, shots and more, beer garden out back, food is great. Any pub owned by wetherspoons is excellent, Macdonald nearby.

Very nice pub with good food and service

Visited this pub for lunch and ordered a chicken bbq panini. When it arrived, it was two pieces of bread with hardly any filling. Called a member of staff and she returned one back with a rasher of bacon in but still no cheese or chicken. She was so quick to leave, she did not wait to see if it was acceptable. As I was on my own, it is difficult to leave the table to track down the manager as I would lose my table because the pub was so busy so I wrote to Head Office. They said they would refer the complaint to the pub and area manager but I heard nothing. So I wrote to them again to which they replied contact the pub. I requested the email address of the pub but still have not received a reply. My husband and I have always supported Wetherspoons and seek out one where ever we go but just recently I have noticed the prices rising and the quality of food diminishing. I feel reluctant to choose Wetherspoons now as customer service and food quality does not seem to count. I used to be a market researcher for Wetherspoons so I know what is expected for the customer.

Wicked speed for service. Hit pay on the app and my pint of brewdog was on the table in 54 seconds... No complaints. Will definitely come again

Didn't know what to expect in a spoons hotel but it was brilliant. Clean and spacious room, comfy bed and great shower. Stayed for 3 nights and couldn't fault it. Great location just couple mins walk from the cathedral. Would definitely come back and stay again.

(Bit of a long story, sorry) I came here with my friends. Big mistake. We hadn’t eaten all day and came in to get a late lunch. My friend had low blood sugar from not eating and we went to the ladies restroom because she felt nauseous. The bathroom attendant came up to us and asked if my friend was alright. She then says that we have to leave because she threw up (despite not even properly being sick) and we can’t be served, assuming my friend was drunk, despite it being quite clear she was not. We explained my friend doesn’t drink and she just hadn’t eaten yet and were told that was okay, so we went back to the table and waited for our food. 5 minutes later another server came over and said we needed to leave, we explained what had happen and that we were told we could stay, we then asked why and THE SERVER WAS SO RUDE!!!! our food (that we had already paid for) hadnt come out yet and we had already agreed that we would leave, so we asked for it to be boxed up despite the server trying to make us leave without our paid for food. the server walks off huffing and puffing and comes back with three small take away boxes (despite the fact we had all ordered large meals), throws them on the table then leaves and tells us to pack up our own food when it comes out. We left quickly because the servers kept staring at us and didn’t even have time to finish our drinks. I understand having to leave if you threw up especially if it was because of illness or being drunk even though my friend was neither and hadn’t even properly been sick. However, having rude and clueless servers tell us different things and then being embarrassed in front of a pub full of people when this could have been handled privately in the bathroom was so rude. and the server who asked us to leave was unreasonably rude and sharp with us.
