We were a party of 20. The food was tasty and good value and the service was excellent. We had a very enjoyable lunch, Poppy, Kristin and Maddie did a sterling job.

Visited with family for a Sunday roast early evening. Was disappointed that there was no cauliflower cheese left. The beef was not good - over cooked and very tough with lots of gristle despite menu saying it was served pink. Asked for horseradish but was told they had run out but no offer of any other sauces. Stuffing was hard and chewy. On the plus side the gravy was nice and thick, the veggies were cooked well and husband said the turkey was good.

We had an excellent lunch. The food was high quality and well presented. The service was superb despite the large number of customers

On Friday 8th December we booked for 7.00pm unfortunately we didn't eat our mains until nearly 9.00pm If the staff had told us they were short staffed in the beginning we would have understood it. But nothing was said so we had to keep asking when our mains and puddings were coming? It was nearly 10.00pm until we had finished.

We had a great meal here! Food was delicious, service was great. I would recommend the chicken snitzel and the fish and chips, delicious! We will visit again!

Food was served just warm ,need to keep food hot and check when serving.

Lived locally for over 2 years and never tried this place. Really lovely atmosphere, good size pub and fantastic food. Very delicious. Will 100% be back and highly recommend it

Turned up for a Sunday roast, told sorry no roast potatoes as they had run out of potatoes at 2:30pm. Decided to try the fish and chips. Bad move unless you like your fish batter soggy and cold and what seemed liked a young child’s portion of chips. I could have knocked up the same food and made it better from the Asda 300 meters away for about £4. Overall a very poor experience and won’t be revisiting.

Excellent roast dinners, the lamb shank was beautiful! Just completely fell of the bone! Nothing was too much trouble for Kayleigh, she really made it special for us, highly recommend

Great pub ... Good beer .. Abbot is a big seller..gets full quick ..big car park .. food is higher quality than 'pub grub' .. sitting outside in summer is ok if you like grease smells from the extract fan - depends on where you sit. Haven't spent an evening there so not sure on the atmosphere.

Booked a table for 4 of us to celebrate our wedding anniversary this evening and it was dreadful. They had no steak, no mashed potatoes and half the puddings were missing. Ended up having a burger which was burnt on the outside, under done on the inside and had bacon and cheese which I didn’t order. Then we basically got ignored. No one came to ask if we wanted a dessert so we had to go to the bar and ask for the bill. Very disappointing evening.

Came here last Saturday evening with a friend. We weren't overly hungry and in a bit of a rush as attending an event in hitchin. Having looked through the menu I fancied the camembert sharer as a main course and decided would have a dessert after. My friend decided it sounded good too. We were pleased with our choice. Freshly prepared, hot and tasty. Toasted garlic ciabatta with crispy chicken strips, salami and two dips, served with a lovely melting mini camembert. We chose cheesecake and chocolate fondant for dessert equally delicious. Our waitress sorry can't remember her name, was friendly and efficient. I will definitely be back . Many thanks

Three Moorhens Hitchin Hill by the roundabout . Large car park . Building as you enter could do with some tlc. A warm welcome when we entered. Very quiet when we visited so was nice to receive table service . Drinks came prompt and only a short wait for the mains. Pie & mash with veg and a chicken dish were well presented on hot plates. All was good , not 5 star but ok for a pub chain meal. Staff very nice , would call in again.

Decent sunday roast. Popped in late in the day, so a little dry but gravy sorted that!

Varied menu with some dishes we had not tried. Friendly and welcoming staff and background music pretty quiet, so you can actually hold a conversation without having to speak loudly. Good drinks menu. Fairly competitive prices. Overall, well worth a visit

Came in to try the new menu with my Mum, we were so pleased to see some old classics on there still but the new stuff is absolutely delicious!! I had the katsu chicken and mum had 2 courses off the light bites menu and said the scampi was cooked perfectly, the option for a smaller meal is highly appreciated :) we will definitely be returning to try the rest of the new stuff

Brilliant pub with excellent staff.. food is really good here, have never had a bad experience, much better than the next nearest pub, orange tree. Steaks are always cooked right.. sarah, isobel, lewis and kayleigh are great at their job and make sure you have everything you need, large garden and plenty of parking.. perfect pub.. Obed is a an absolute ledgend...

First time I've visited with my family and thought the food and service was excellent. No issues whatsoever and the food was very nice. Would defo come back.

Can't complain about the food . It was good value for money. Beer was well kept and went down rather too well!! We last went to the 3 moorhens about 20 years ago. Unfortunately, it looks like it hasn't been painted since !! The restaurant area wasn't bad but the bar area was noisy . Staff were OK and friendly. I'm not sure we will return for a while because there are other pub restaurants nearby to try, but as I say, the food was good if you fancy basic pub grub.

Nice looking large pub from outside. You would expect from the lovely building and lovely big garden the usual Greene King Quality however the decor was clearly in need of refurbishment. Food was good overall especially the steak. However the salad accompanying various meals and starters looked fairly wilted and as if it had been out of the fridge for some time or possibly not as fresh as it should have been. Very good quality cask ale and drinks including Abbott Ale and GK IPA very nicely pulled and kept. Womens toilets according to my wife were rather unkept with blockages and not the levels of cleaning or upkeep you would expect from a big pub company. Bar area was busy but rather cramped as various big tables had been placed in front of the bar for a group of rowdy guys to watch the football from meaning you could only get to the bar easily from either end. We sat in the restaurant but there was very little customer service or welcome from staff. 3 male staff members were hanging around the bar for the most part watching the football and chatting with football loving locals instead. We ordered from the bar in the end as there was no restaurant service to speak of. Food was reasonably well cooked and served promptly and other than that service mediocre. Overall a potentially lovely pub but for a Saturday evening fairly quiet and obviously being let down overtime by what seems very relaxed and I bothered staff. Certainly not crying out for a further visit unless a recent manager is appointed who cracks the whip with the young 20 something staff members. Definitely missing a female touch !

Poppy was our server tonight she did an amazing job with our group from start to finish quick to make sure we got what we ordered and the drinks were full. The food was amazing and helped guide us through with food allergies and made excellent recommendations based on the allergies. All our food was amazing and we left full, happy and well served.

So so bad - would not recommend to anyone - starter without some of the ingredients - main ( when it came ) badly cooked and the staff never bothered to take a desert order - have filled in the survey 3 times and never had a reply .

Great service, very friendly, greeted and seated and ordered with a smile and humour. Food quick, enjoyed the burger. Although chicken in basket was quite dry and the chips tasted odd, we will likely come back and try other items as the service and location is so lovely.

Most of us had the turkey dinner. The potatoes were overly salted . My daughter had the chicken caeser salad and found that the lettuce hadn't been washed properly.

Called in here for lunch with an old friend. Very friendly staff, good selection of drinks and food at reasonable prices. As it was one of the sunny days in June we sat outside in the garden. Speedy service even though it was busy. Friendly customers as well which I always like. I'd definitely come back again.

It is my sons 30th birthday so myself , my son and three daughters went for lunch. We were served by Izzi and Poppy. The service was excellent, they were friendly very polite and happy. Nothing was to much trouble. The food was excellent and very well presented. Would highly recommend.

A grotty unkempt pub with clientele intent on including as many swear words as possible in their overly loud coversations. In terms of the restaurant, average food is served by slovenly staff. Awful!

This is an ok place to go. It's your good run of the mill pub food. We sat outside which was pleasant.

Went for some birthday drinks in March and have been back for more this month. Didn’t eat on this occasion but I really must complement this pub on the quality of their drinks. The crispness of the beer is amongst the best, if not the best around. It really makes a difference, not having to return to the bar because of petty things, such as dirty glass or unclean pint. A problem so many other good places seem to fail at.
