Myself and my partner decided last minute to have a date night on the 12/12/2024. We live in Churchill so very local to Chadlington, we thought we'd give the Tite Inn a go as we've only visited for drinks in the past. On entry we felt as though we were walking into somewhere that we weren't welcome, the room went silent, all eyes cast on us as if we were the King. As we awkwardly walked towards the bar we were also given the evils by the barman as a whole bar full of dogs barked at us. At this point we though "you know what, this is just what people in the rural Cotswold's are like" and we cracked on. What a mistake that turned out to be! We were bought to our table by the barman (very intense, eyed me up and down like I was a piece of meat, had eyes and a demeanor that screamed cocaine) After a 20 minute wait our server then appeared to take our drinks order. We asked "What lager do you have on tap" the waitress stuttered, looked as though she was about to have a breakdown and quickly ran to the bar. On her return she started recounting ales from the notepad which was her hand. I instantly felt incredibly embarrassed for the server as she obviously didn't know the difference between ale and lager. In order to avoid an upset we just asked for "any lager". The server was clearly new, but why wasn't she trained before dealing with customers alone? We were greeted with two Kati Patang's (Beautiful taste but not a single bubble within) As we were left to decide what to eat we started having a look around the small room we had been sat in. I can only label the atmosphere as incredibly intense. We could hear arguing, singing, and gossip from the kitchen. Notice boards has been placed right above peoples tables, so when we wanted to get the Wi-Fi password the lady sat beside us thought we were greatly invading on her privacy and in turn proceeded to stare through our souls for what felt like 10 minutes. We ordered a sharing Camembert to start, with a bowl of patatas bravas. Mains were the Fish & Chips and the Beef Burger. After about a 30 minute wait we received our patatas bravas. The only way to describe the feelings that followed was outrage, and shock. I used to frequent Spain, Patatas Bravas is my favorite dish. What we were presented with was under cooked oven baked potatoes covered in a painfully spicy marinara sauce at the price of £7. While me and my partner were discussing the spice level over the tears streaming from our eyes, the barman shouts across the restaurant "Of course its hot its just come out of the oven!" At this point he decided to walk over to our table and tell us "My boyfriends dropped your camembert on the floor, it'll be 5 minutes." Following an incredibly loud argument and a 20 minute wait from the kitchen we were presented with our £25 Camembert, with two slices of bread cut in half, no veg, nothing. To charge £25 for what we received, and the service should be a crime. At this point we didn't even feel as though we could complain, the staff clearly didn't want to be there, and also don't realize that they come off incredibly intense and threatening, particularly the barman. We waited another 30 minutes for our mains, on arrival everything honestly looked amazing, fish batter looked bang on, burger cheesy as anything, we were buzzing after our dodgy starters. Unfortunately it turned out that the fish batter was like cement, it was like eating a rock hard crumbling pastry, the ratio of fish to batter was also probably 10/90. Whoever also thought of the idea of mixing mint sauce with peas alongside battered fish needs to give their head a wobble; disgusting. Unfortunately it seems that I got off lucky! My partner took a single bite of her burger and that was more than enough for her to have to evacuate to the WC! The 'beef' burger was so over cooked that it genuinely tasted like lamb, it even smelt like lamb. What made this situation even worse is that my partner absolutely hates the taste of lamb, and thought she was ordering a beef burger! We then asked the waitress if she knew what meat was in the burger, she disappeared into the kitchen and all we heard was shouting and another massive argument brimming! At this point my partner started to see the funny side of things, were we honestly so shocked, we thought a camera was going to pop out at anytime saying it was some king of sick, twisted social experiment! Luckily, we didn't have the minerals to look the barman in the eyes and complain out of fear! The waitress hesitantly removed the service charge from our bill and we were out of there like our life depended on it! Please don't make the same mistake as we did and avoid eating here at all costs! Lovely beer though, with a top notch garden, if you can get someone that knows what they're doing. You'll also be devastated to hear that even though Clarkson's Farm is a stones throw away, you can't get any of that beautiful Hawkstone! We will certainly not be returning for food anytime soon, it seems as though the management has changed for the worse!

Food was spot on - we had burgers and they put an egg in on request. Local beer, decent quality and gave us the opportunity to sample the beers on offer. Our experience on a Saturday evening would enable us to recommend this pub., Great personal service.

The Tite Inn is local to our holiday accommodation and is on the list of recommended pubs. It was so disappointing. Many basic things on the menu were missing as apparently there hadn’t been a supplier delivery. No chicken was available for the Ceaser Salad, it was supposed to come with a poached egg which was forgotten! When my friend asked for it, it arrived covered in black pepper which she doesn’t eat. Also there were no anchovies for the salad. We asked for water 3 times before it arrived. The food was incredibly expensive for basic fare. £20 for fish and chips and the same for salad! The ambience wasn’t great, I expect it’s better to go in the summer and to enjoy the garden. The whole experience was a bit Fawlty Towers!

So glad we found this place, it's a real gem. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome by the staff. Great selection of drinks (do try the Japanese Whiskey). The food, whilst towards the high end of pub prices was excellent, worth the cost, the ingredients were fresh, well cooked, and the waiting staff were super polite and friendly. Best of all the have a gorgeous dog named Biscuit. Any pub that has a dog is bound to be a good pub!

We called in yesterday after driving around trying to find somewhere for Sunday lunch, during our stay at chipping norton. The pub was at max capacity, but the gentleman behind the bar so kindly went out of his way to help, and asked the chefs if they could squeeze the 3 of us in, to which they agreed to fit us in. We were so grateful, but to top it all off the sunday dinner was absolutely beautiful, spot on!! Plentiful, fantastic variety of veg, included braised red cabbage and carrot swede mash, which you dont see at many places..it was just utterly delicious! Thank you so much for 3 beautiful meals, and the amazing service behind the bar from the team!

Disappointed. I Had been looking forward to trying the restaurant for some time. Unfortunately the service was slow and there were several items on the menu that they had “run out of”. I didn’t have much other option but to order the more expensive steak of the 2 (£32) on the menu. When it finally came out it didn’t have any sauce as it was still being prepared. By the time it came out (15 minutes later) the steak was cold. When getting the bill at the end I had voiced my disappointment and had asked that the bill be revised. After waiting 20 minutes for the waiter to return with the bill it was the same. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy. What a shame. I hate to leave a negative review but after voicing my disappointment to no resolve it doesn’t leave much choice!

Sadly ours was a disappointing experience. No one goes out to eat wanting to write a bad review but in this case I have to admit that we were taken aback by the lack of usual expectations. The waiting staff appeared rushed and unavailable and only came if we called them! Our lunch was lukewarm when it arrived and we had to wait for cutlery, water and wine( which weren’t offered to start with! The menu was quite bizarre with just 4 choices which were roasts. No starters, bread or desserts. What kind of a restaurant is this? Large selection of vegetables with our roast but mostly very undercooked and cold! We left feeling quite confused by the whole experience .

This is a fantastic pub. We stopped for Sunday lunch as a walk in. The lovely waitress showed us to our table very promptly. They advised there would be a wait as they had a big table in. However the waitress spoke to the chef and squeezed our order in within minutes of being seated. The roast was excellent. Plenty of meat and lots of vegetables. The cauliflower cheese was especially good. All in all a brilliant experience and lovely, friendly staff.

Wow what a fantastic place to come. Chose it off Google as was meeting family halfway and contacted them beforehand to check about GF options (they have loads by the way). The customer service from start to finish was faultless. The food was varied and tasty - portion size very generous too. We really enjoyed our time. Our little one recommends the play area too! It’s located in a really pretty spot and has plenty of parking. Wish we lived closer but will find a reason to come back!

We came for a birthday meal to celebrate a 22nd. The food was absolutely gorgeous. We had the special which was duck and also the sirloin steak. We cannot fault the incredible chefs, who presented us with beautiful, fresh food! The customer service was some of the best we have ever experienced, with special mentions to Charlie and Gary who made our visit even more incredible. One of our party has a gluten free diet, and was incredibly well catered for! We even learn that the chef himself is celiac, and he has created some beautiful options for those with dietary requirements. The restaurant itself is stunning, great location, beautifully decorated and has lots of car parking. I would absolutely visit again and highly recommend this to anyone.

We waited an hour between starter and the mains coming out. One main was sent back as the Duck was overcooked, the other three meals were heavily salted. When we questioned the glasses of wine being £17 each the staff became agitated and very rude. I can see now why they’ve brought a consultant in to sort things, it’s just a shame he’s so condescending and rude. “This is billionaires paradise” was his reply when justifying trying to rip us off. We weren’t shown a wine list but checked online and they’re around £7 so The Tite Inn are definitely chancers trying to rip people off with poor food and dreadful service

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff but waiting over an hour for food is a bit ridiculous especially when not at full capacity. Not worth the wait really. Fish and chips was a 3/10 and nothing to shout home about however the BBQ wings on the starter menu are amongst the best BBQ wings I’ve ever eaten 11/10. Worth it for that alone, saved the day!

We booked in advance and were really looking forward to Sunday lunch, and at £25 for the adults portion,we expected good things, Unfortunately this was not the case, the beef was extremely hard to cut and tough, the vegetables were hard and not very hot at all, The pork came out with the skin like chewy rubber with no attempt to crisp into cracking, No salt and pepper on the tables, and no accompanying sauces offered, when I asked for horseradish and apple sauce, the waitress said I'll have to ask the kitchen, On return saying they don't have apple sauce, although I did manage to get some horseradish sauce, They seem to be missing some of the basics here, The table next to us were having the same frustrations and lots of food wasted, I noticed another table near the bar had left rather a lot of there lunch also, My childrens were the smaller roasts and lots was wasted, We decided not to have a dessert simply due to the quality of the main courses, Very disappointing, I'm not sure what's happened as the reviews were good, Won't be going back

Never been before, doubt we’ll go again. Turned up late, around 13:45 and it looked lovely. Bar staff were really polite and helpful. We asked if they were serving food and ordered drinks. We were advised that yes, food was being served and were directed outside to the serving station in the garden, where a server would help us. After waiting for 10 minutes, the server abruptly told us that we could not have food as the kitchen closed in 15 minutes and she had just put in a large order for another party. No apologies, no sign of any regret. Perhaps if she had been quicker, we could have eaten. It must be nice for a business to be doing so well that they can just turn potential customers away. As it was we left, disappointed and hungry.

Good was average! Service wasn’t great. Considering this was first day open (closed Mon and Tues) half the menu wasn’t available. Girls stood chatting the behind the bar, no one else left in the area we were in so not busy but sat there for ages with dirty plates wanting to order a dessert. Gave up in the end and went to the bar to pay. £90 for three main courses and 2 drinks (son drank water) and I had an appletiser so only one of the two was a pint of beer. We visited Diddly squat farm shop but did not want to queue for hours to enter the shop or wait for food. The Tite inn is advertised at the farm shop exit which makes it surprising more people do not venture down to this lovely secluded pub. The owners daughter who worked behind the bar was very polite and friendly. The food made from locally sourced produce exceeded expectations and we highly recommend the steak or burger but defiantly start with the warm bread and olive oil. All in all a lovely family operated business and very affordable.

Unfortunately, we cannot confirm the good reviews that attracted us here. The really beautifully laid out beer garden was completely empty except for one other table and there wasn't much going on inside. So the kitchen shouldn't be overwhelmed. Nevertheless, the ribeye steak came burnt (was on the black side) and the burger fell apart and was anything but juicy. The waitress also seemed bored and probably didn't enjoy her job much. It's a real shame - because the location is really great!

We don't really go out all that often, however after not being to the Tite Inn for 4 years I thought we'll give it a try. I must say the food was nothing to write home about and microscopic. We had 2 what I would call mini burgers and fries with a ceasar salad (3 people) The burger was totally anemic and all you get with it is chips, no salad, coleslaw, onion rings or anything else you would associate with a decent burger. To pay £18 for that felt like a fleecing and left a bitter taste in my mouth. It honestly felt like I was paying a massive fine for taking my family out after a long time not going out due to the cost. Even my wife complained about the portion size of the ceasar salad which she finished, and that is unusual for her to do at a decent restaurant. To walk away with a £60+ bill for 3 small portions and 2 juices seems excessive! Unfortunately you won't see me there again unless something drastically changes. Honestly I don't mind paying for quality but that was not it. Ill stick with the local here in Charlbury called the Bull. They have decent portions at the same sort of prices.

For £25 for a roast dinner I expected it to be not only edible but high quality, sadly it was not. Still hungry after not eating the beef we ordered the crumble for dessert (safe option as you can't mess up a crumble!) ha...wrong! Worst crumble I've even had couldn't eat it . Visited the pub on 27/5/24 at lunchtime when the pub had only just opened. I ordered BBQ Chicken wings and asked for a side salad, however i was told they had run out of salad. My friend ordered a burger with fries. When the food came my chicken wings were swimming in a sloppy coleslaw at the bottom of the bowl, my friends burger came with salad ! As we started to eat a small slug came crawling to the top of my bowl. I removed the slug to my serviette. I was horrified. My friend quickly took my bowl and serviette back to the serving point and asked for the Manager. A young girl came over & she was confused as to where the slug came from. We explained what had happened & she still couldn’t take responsibility. She said it could have climbed into the bowl from the table as we were sat outside. It doesn’t make sense that there wasn’t any salad when the pub had just opened, maybe they had found slugs in it or it was found in the coleslaw mix. Wherever it came from, it’s not acceptable. It took us 4 requests to actually agree to not paying for the food. We were not refunded for the drinks. No apologies. Since this i have emailed the pub & all they can say is they are not responsible & offered me to go back with my friend for 1 drink each. Sorry, i shall never be returning to your pub as I have been put off eating there & really wouldnt enjoy drinking there either. Also, i have never received such poor customer care from a company who are obviously in the wrong & could not take responsibility. THIS IS ANSWERING THE PUBS RESPONSE BELOW:- One can only assume that the slug was an acrobatic slug that could jump from the plants in the distance to a 3 foot high table surrounded only by concrete slabs, all in the space of three minutes!!…. from me noticing the slug crawling around my slimy purple cabbage dripping in what I can only assume was mayonnaise.. in my bowl. Again, I find it totally incredulous the lack of concern , empathy for your customers who are out on the bank holiday wanting to sit down, relax and enjoy a lovely healthy meal. Instead you prefer to take the approach of denying all responsibility and insulting your customers intelligence. We had to ask you on several occasions what your intentions were before you eventually offered a refund for one meal then when we mentioned we had taken a photograph for our own information, your attitude changed totally !!! You said you would refund the two meals that had hardly been touched after we placed the order due to the fact that it made my friend & I feel quite sick! I am sure the environmental health would take this a lot more seriously after we’ve shown them the picture we took also would be appalled at your approach towards your customers. Hopefully this will be a lesson learned on your duty of care towards your customers!!!

After a visit to Diddley Squat Farm, I decided to grab some lunch at the nearest rated pub. We arrived at the scenic Tite Inn and was greeted by friendly staff. We ordered the fish & chips plus a burger and chips. After the best part of an hour the food arrived. The chips were burnt and dry and so was the fish. The burger was dry and was combined with a sweet relish that did not suit my taste palate. Overall, the pub was lovely, but let down by the food. Just arrived for lunch at the Tite Inn and they have virtually no food to offer. They have the cheek to ask for a credit card in order to book a table. We will never ever come back to this pub, absolutely appalling.

Stopped off here just because the local farm shop was too busy. What a find! A lovely village pub with a good beer and spirit selection, the staff were also friendly and helpful. We did not eat here, but the food looked and smelled good. I would like to come back here and try an evening meal.

A lovely little pub, however we were disappointed that we were served pitta breads for our “starter” flat bread. My husband’s rock hard tomato was sadly returned to the kitchen after eating his well cooked steak. Out of politeness for the staff (who were extremely professional) we paid our bill and left, in hope that this beautiful establishment can invest in better menu choices for the next visitors.

Great country pub. The food was lovely. The Staff were very friendly and accommodating we had 5 dogs which wasn't a problem at all. We decided to enjoy the outside space under the canopy. Thank you

If you happen to be in the area, for example visiting Diddly Squat Farm maybe then a stop off for a bite to eat and a pint at The Tite Inn is well recommended. The food is exceptionally good, with service to match in a nice pub with ample parking.

Lovely atmosphere and great service. Vegetarian option was a bit over cooked and dry, also I had to pay extra for vegetables on the side. My friends had their veg included 😡. Please could the manager consider this: vegetarians like vegetables and will hoover up every last sprout or whatever. Please don't discriminate against them.

What a wonderful little pub! We booked here for our Christmas meal for x19 of us and everything went down without a hitch. It was so easy to organise everything with the managers and they were very accommodating. The food was presented beautifully, tasted amazing and came in very decent sized portions. We were very impressed with all the extras including the extra roast potatoes! The mini mince pies at the end were such a lovely touch. And all of this for a very reasonable price! All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and looked after us so well. Highly recommend!

Lovely pub, welcoming service, good local beers, nice food selection with a varied menu. Some portions seemed a little too small for price point to what you got - some of the food seemed to be more brought in pre-made to be cooked but with prices of made in house.

We had a lovely lunch with a large group of friends. We all had roasts including the veggie option which was really tasty too. Service was great with a nice atmosphere. Some great wines & good beers too. Definitely recommend here for a Sunday lunch. Also must mention the crumble, loved it. We’ll go again soon.

Very disappointing. Well named the Tite Inn. Beer at £5.50 a pint is at least a pound dearer than most local pubs. My peppered squid were O K but the portion was tiny about 3 mouthfuls ! Iwon't be retuning and neither will my friends be comig

We called in here for a light lunch after visiting Didley Squat Farm shop. The pub is linked with the nearby Chadlington brewery, so I tried a pint of their I.P.A. which was a very tasty, hoppy beer. We had some squid rings with a gremolata coating, scampi and fries with an especially tangy tartare sauce and creamy garlic mushrooms on toast with aged parmesan. All these dishes were very tasty and the perfect size for a wee bite of lunch.

After nothing much to see Diddly Squat Farm (lol) we popped up the road and found this little pub. Well presented, dog friendly quaint place, we decided to have a quick lunch. We both chose the burger that came with chips abs baconaise, although a little on the small side given the price, we couldn't fault the quality and level of service, experienced. We would definitely return, if we are up this way again....4/5

The place is cozy and nice. The food was probably the most overrated food that I’ve ever had. The burger had the size of a happy meal at 18 pounds , burnt and blunt .Should have sent it back but was too hungry . Taste the the ales before having them.

Very poor Sunday lunch, over cooked, too much oil, dry, expensive. Couldn’t cut in to the potato’s, carrots and parsnip black.

On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff at the bar and chef sitting with some locals. Decor looked cosy and tidy but where we were seated considering the restaurant side was empty, it wasn’t appropriate. Some of the locals were rowdy and swearing a lot so not the scene of a couples dinner. Food came out very quickly which was good but presentation was poor. Almost seemed like the chef was hacked off he had to cook so just plonked it on a plate. There was more rocket on my dish than there was steak. Really poor food that you would expect at a much cheaper venue. Really not impressed. Filet of steak expected at the price they charged. Student cooking. Edible but not what you serve in a supposedly established country pub/restaurant. Spoilt a birthday meal out for my partner. If the food was better, this place would be awesome as it looks great.

An unpretentious old-fashioned pub; a rarity in Oxfordshire now. The cask Hooky is always of superior quality here and a good price
