The Treacle Mine in Thurrock

I had barbecue beef rib, rump steak, chips, onion rings and mushrooms. My husband had a mixed grill

We had a group of around 25 booked, but the tables were not together, and unorganised. When we were eventually seated, we ordered via the app, and I ordered a mixed grill, and steak for my wife. This was paid for in advance. I was then told my wife would get her steak, but none left for mixed grill. I asked for a burger to replace the steak, then they brought me up just the burger with chips, which I sent back as I ordered mixed grill. Eventually got it, but quality of food was shocking, overcooked chicken, overcooked gammon, cheap burgers, and just overall terrible. I would never. Go here again.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for the great service and food . Sam greeted us and showed us to our table. We had breakfast for 10 on Father’s Day . Although they were short staffed you wouldn’t have known MJ and Jason were in the kitchen. We had a wonderful time as we always do at the treacle mine. Thanks again Darren aka Gary

Came for breakfast with my partner, steak and eggs were cooked perfectly, thank you to the chef. The classic breakfast was also very nice too. Staff very friendly, accomodating and polite. Best breakfast we've had out for a long time would highly recommend.

Can’t speak for the food or drink because we unfortunately decided to leave before ordering. Came for a family meal but as we were deciding if there was shade to sit outside our two year old saw the game machine and pressed one of the buttons and was promptly told off by the lady behind the bar. A more appropriate way to deal with it if it was really a problem would have been to address one of his parents and not frighten a two year old. Does not seem like a very family friendly place so we won’t be returning. Edit: as I said above, speaking to us as his parents rather than scaring a two year old who has no concept of what is said to him would have been a more appropriate response (although I highly doubt any licensing regulators would confuse a two year old hitting a shiny button with attempting to gamble). It was dealt with very poorly and your response shows a lack of understanding of the problem as well.

My friend and I had a lovely boozy pub lunch here today. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was welcoming. I had the vegan sticky ribs and my friend had the tandoori chicken kebabs. Both of us gave the food 10/10, delicious and piping hot. Well done Jason the chef, and thanks to the bar staff for a lovely afternoon.

Me and my friend had a meal here on Thursday 2nd of January. Due to me being colieac I have strict dietary restrictions for my food which was relayed to the staff. The member of staff which I spoke to her name was Tara went above and beyond to make sure that my food was correct and had no cross contamination and made sure she had direct communication with the kitchen staff to make sure my meal was prepared correctly which it was and compliments to the kitchen as my food was well prepared and delicious. Also the atmosphere in the pub is very friendly and relaxing and all the staff are lovely and very helpful. We will definitely be booking with them again for food and drinks as they give 5 star service and go above and beyond for their customer needs and requirements

26.12.24 Had a booking for 8 pm for dinner and drinks, showed up just before 7:30, our booking weren't on the system although we had the confirmation, we were still able to be seated and the guy behind the bar ( dark hair, glasses and beard, quite polite) had explained kitchen closes at 8 so if we were quick enough to decide what we were having we could order, within the first few minutes knew what we were having went to the bar to order where the guy was talking to whom I presume is a manager with blonde hair and the other end, and brumptly said to him and loud enough for me to here that the kitchen was closed she don't care it's Sunday hours they've already shut everything down... And carried on to walk pass me, the barman apologised, however on there opening hours sign it states that kitchen is open till 8, also says that online and if it does close sooner why was I able to book still? We weren't in the building for longer than 7 minutes and left in disappointment. This is the 3rd time in a row I've came here food in the last 2 months for there to always be an issue, myself and partner have decided that going forward we will not be having food there anymore and will be letting our friends/family know as they also dine here.

Breakfast was wonderful however our boxing day meal was scrumptious! 5 stars all day

Food is always good here. The food is piping hot and tasty. Service is fantastic always friendly and very good value. This time we visited I noticed there was paper sheets under our food I did not like this at all and once you had put condiments on it made it soggy couldn’t work out what was food and what was paper. I hope they get rid of this it’s not good.

Got rudely told to leave tonight !! I walked in, went to the bar and ordered a drink for me and my family. Drinks sitting on the bar!! £20 plus round of drinks!! Was told I must leave as it was tickets only, so I must leave. Was escorted to the door telling me I must leave. Followed to the door!! I would have bought a ticket but felt as if I had done something wrong, Bad management, bad manners comes to mind ! !!! Piss poor if ya ask me. Merry Christmas treacle mine Place was not even busy. Maybe you need ya think about what ya doing. And the reason Why ya not busy.

This was the poorest experience at Treacle Mine Treat customers like an animals Managers also don't care about customers.

Hi been there quiet a few times for lunch or dinner with both family and friends, always enjoyable, friendly staff, good food and good service.

Came in on a Saturday night when there was a Karaoke night, after ordering food, which was amazing by the way, I decided to stick around for the karaoke night to see what it's about. I must say, the atmosphere in the building with the karaoke going on, was like a concert. The staff all worked their hardest and cannot fault them one bit, especially with the amount of traffic at the bar, everyone was absolutely amazing. All staff here are a credit to the company. Would highly recommend the treacle mine.

We reserved a large table and were instructed to place a preorder. Upon our arrival at the restaurant, we were shown to our table; however, no staff members approached us to take our order or provide assistance. After waiting for 25 minutes, we inquired with the server, only to find out that he could not locate our order. Ultimately, we waited 1.5 hours for a single sharing platter. When we asked about the second platter, we were informed that it had been sent to our table, which was not the case. The server was skeptical of our claim, and we had to guide her to our table to confirm that we had received only one platter. Frustrated with the situation, we decided to pay for what we had and left the restaurant. This was disappointing, as we had planned a pleasant outing and had taken the initiative to preorder and confirm our order a day in advance to ensure a smooth experience. As a result, we opted to order food for delivery instead.

Very poor service, they are not prepare to serve a customers, absolutely horrible place . Do not recommend

I reserved the table at 15:30 for 13 people including children. We haven't received the meals till 17. At 5 pm we get one plate out of 13. The kids were hungry because it all took too long. We left the restaurant as they couldn't provide the information that time we will get the meals.

Fantastic pub! We came for the pub quiz with the family, we were welcomed and the staff were so friendly with us. The food was great, and reasonably priced and a great pub quiz! One of my favourite local pubs. Can’t recommend enough.

Came for the pub quiz on a Wednesdays, and we had a brilliant time. Food was lovely, staff were brilliant and were now regular attendees! Highly recommend for a midweek evening out!

Was down in the area in the today to see a concert. So because I work for another sizzling I knew what to expect from the food. We all really enjoyed it and was up to the correct spec so thank you. Pub had a lovely fell and atmosphere to it we sat on table 8. The staff were all very nice and friendly. Will visit again when back down in the area

Arrived before lunch didn't fancy a breakfast so asked for something on lunchtime menu wasn't an issue no problem they said and knocked me up skewers chips and veg it was lovely

Good quiz night, shame about the £60 car parking fine. WARNING: IF YOU PARK IN THE CAR PARK, MAKE SURE YOU ENTER YOUR REG NO WHEN YOU GO INTO THE BAR. I complained via their website and got a an email reply back saying they could cancel it. This was 2 weeks ago and I've heard nothing since. I don't really understand why they need the parking system given that there is nothing but houses nearby. Why would anyone park there unless they were going to the pub. It's a shame, as It spoiled a good night. I doubt I'll go back there.

Visited Treacle Mine to order some food. Shaun was excellent in advising me of a 40% off offer if I downloaded the app which I wasn’t aware of and was very much appreciated. Excellent service.

Looking for something to eat after IKEA & wanted something better than fast food. Stumbled across the Treacle Mine & even though they were busy & said food was gonna be up to an hour it was only 20 mins for food & it was red hot & really tasty. Also ideal was that they brought the little uns food out first, always a good idea. Good food at a good price with good service too. Will come back again when next in the area & can't be bothered to queue for IKEA cafe

So me and my family went there for a birthday meal for my brother inlaw . We ordered our food using the APP and we was not seen for quite some time book at 5.30 did not have food till after 7pm . My wife went to ask whats taking so long they said their machine froze . And some one had to look at our order . There seemed to be quite a few staff members but it seemed to take a long time for our food to come. The food was fantastic best thing about the place. The service needs a bit of a shake up tbh . I was waiting to order a drink and they all seemed to be More interested in watching the football ok the TV. It won't be my next place to visit for my family meal . But when I do eventually go back I may change my mind .

Always enjoy coming to the treacle whenever I'm in the area, the staff are friendly, the food is nice and the drinks are cold. Everything is affordable and there's plenty of entertainment. Bingo, a quiz, karaoke and a DJ/ live music depending on which day you go.

Very noisy, didn't help with karaoke starting, service was bad,x7 people booked in 7.30 told it was 45 min for food! All served at different times,to our table,no tia Maria!no tea ,coffee machine broke!! Waitress was polite n pleasant, good luck for Sunday am going for breakfast with no tea or coffee..

The atmosphere was good and the place was clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was a let down and the member of staff that took our food order was poor. He clearly couldn't hear us properly and didn't repeat the order back~ hence it was wrong. We weren't offered a receipt so we're unable to see if what was missing had actually been ordered. One of out party had food poisoning from the Tandori chicken dish which wasn't cooked properly.

We had a surprise Hen Brunch for my niece. The food was great! Plenty of coffee! And most importantly great service! There was a large group of us and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you

absolutely disgusted in the professionalism within this pub! myself and 3 friends went for a drink at 10pm this evening and we waited around 20 minutes to get our drinks to the table.. around 10 past 10 a member of staff came over to ask for our ID and we was all prepared; whilst I mentioned we have been waiting a while, the guy shrugged it off in quite a rude manner. He then decides to take my friend’s ID aside, and we assumed that he wants better lighting which makes sense. He then POINTED and wiggled his finger at my friend to step aside and make the accusation that my friend’s ID is fake! Although it being real, we was very confused at the fact that the guy refused to give it back just because his assumption. There is a small crack within the ID which made him believe this; however we have been to other bars where the ID has to be scanned and have for in with no issue. He then said to go home and grab another form of ID to get his other one back. We then come back with his passport and they took ages to make a decision, despite the fact it is very clear it is real. Cowardly, the guy never came out to apologise, we just got given the ID back from somebody else and we never got an apology for the inconvenience. Personally, we believe that this could be racially motivated due to the fact that my friend isn’t white British. However, we will never be able to know if that is the case or not. We also asked to her a refund for our drinks and the guy said “yeah just ask the bar” in quite a rude manner. We will not be returning. We are usually quite loyal to The Treacle Mine but the professionalism and the service provided this evening was absolutely atrocious.

Myself my Fiancée and our children had a lovely meal out at the treacle mine. The value was great and food was good quality pub food. The waitress Willow Gibson went above and beyond to make our visit pleasurable and was great with the children. Her natural friendly manner didn’t go in noticed. Thank you

Food was great. Took a long time to be delivered given that the restaurant was almost ready Fire alarm went off twice. It was a false alarm but we had little confidence that staff were trained in what to do.

I had steak well done and after I scraped the welded bits off there was enough to fit on a dessert spoon. Fries were nearly non existing and only 2 small onion rings. Value for money was too much for what I had, would avoid this place and go for somewhere like a Harvester you're bound to get more value for money.

The only reason for not giving 5 stars was that there was bit of a wait on food coming out. It wasn't that busy either. Overall definitely be back again soon

Hi I came across this place in a area I am not familiar with, I noticed the billboards, serving breakfast, I love a fry up but tend not make a habit to eat them often, I am very fussy with food, as I Train and like to keep in shape, but have weakness in food, this was one of the best breakfast I had Eaten, compliments to the chef is very clued up on preparing food, the bacon was grilled and still delicious, the FRESH mushrooms was grilled, Tomatoes, Eggs, hash browns with toast and beans, it was amazing and even more amazing the price: five pound something I paid. Forget the greasy cafes. As well as breakfast they serve Lunch and dinner the menu is extensive and something for everyone at very reasonable price, the offer at mo is 2 lots of cod and chips £12.50, these places are rare, even better they have music and Karaoke on Saturdays, definitely looking forward to going back there, on a Saturday as I know the food will be scrumptious, will enjoy it thoroughly, and a bonus the beautiful surrounding’s outside in the garden. I would highly recommend this place, please try it and give your feed back to the place that truly deserve a five star from me. A reminder do not do what I done, as it was my first visit I was totally oblivious to the signs to Register your car until I received a notification to my dismay one week later for a parking fine, so I called the Treacle mine direct and spoke to Emma, she had great customer service skills, very attentive, immediately took my details to cancel my fine and confirmed by email. We've given this venue a couple of chances but we have now consistently seen issues with the service. The 1st time with a party there was a huge delay with most dishes and a couple were incorrect. This last visit we ordered 3 starters and a chicken sharer platter to be served together. After waiting an hour 2 of the smaller dishes arrived and the waitress advised they had run out of chicken so couldn't provide the sharer platter. How on earth does it take an hour to decide a menu item wasn't available? I'm also amazed on realising this they failed to check with us if we wanted to proceed with the order in it's entirety. The quality of the dishes we did receive were not really on a par to the price so I'm afraid that's the last of the chances this restaurant gets. The pub element of the venue is OK with a variety of events taking place but they don't have enough staff to cope with the drinks. All in all not great.

I put this note because of the staff, I have an application from this restaurant and I tell the bartender that I have 1 free drink but he tries to explain that I need another code, I understand that he is trying to pretend to be something else but that's why you have received such a note.

The food was spot on but the service provided by a lovely girl called Kelsie really made our experience ten time better, she was so attentive and really helpful!

I thought it was amazing! All of the staff were really friendly and the food was delicious, the Cadbury lovers sundae in particular was amazing and the presentation was perfect.

The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. I had the Mac and Cheese and I have to say it was the best I've ever tasted.

As always the food was tasty just as described. As it was a Monday the pub was quiet but the staff were friendly and helpful.
