The Unicorn in Three Rivers

Popped in here after trip to Warner Studios. Good parking. Friendly, efficient staff. Good menu. The Unicorn was busy but not crazy. The food came out quickly and was good size. Happy with lunch.

A lovely, welcoming pub. Delicious food, great customer service. We visited with 2 dogs on a cold, misty day. Fast service, good portion sizes and meals to suit everyone in our group. Everyone really enjoyed the food. Would definitely go back.

In stark contrast to another local pub, the service was warm and friendly, and the food arrived quickly. There was plenty of it. I had ham, egg and chips, and couldn't manage all the ham. My 98 year old mother had a small portion but couldn't manage all of hers either. The only downside is accessibility. It was difficult for my mother to manage the steps to our table, and it would not be suitable for a wheelchair user.

I had ham, egg and chips, and there was too much ham for me to eat! My husband had the curry, which came with rice and chips. He had never come across curry and chips before, but maybe it's a 'thing' in Watford. My mother couldn't manage all her ham either, even though she had a small portion, and they kindly gave her a box to take it home in. Those who had puddings said they were delicious, especially the waffles. The person who served us was warm and friendly, and the food arrived surprisingly quickly. The only downside was accessibility. My 98 year old mother managed the three steps with help, but it wasn't easy. There is also a step in the doorway..I don't think there is much they can do about it, given the age of the building, but it wouldn't be suitable for a wheelchair user. We will definitely return.

Absolutely amazing service, fit us in even when we just arrived at the cut off for food after Harry Potter world. Really quick service and the friendliest staff. Ruined other pubs for us!

Stopped as it was grey and raining. What a wee gem to find. The food is fresh and home cooked. The staff are amazing. Great service. The whole place is cleaned.

First time here en route to Warner Studios. Does everything exceedingly well. Great beer, exceptional food and friendly staff. Pièrre the Frenchie keeps everyone amused but is clearly the boss.

We traveled down from Nottingham to visit Warner Studios and decided on a pub lunch before hand. Easily the best decision as this place is a little gem. Not only was the food delicious and very reasonably priced but the staff not only noticed it was my daughter’s birthday made a point of finding out her age and bringing her a desert with the correct candles and singing happy birthday along with the rest of the clients making her day that extra bit special. I cannot recommend this pub/restaurant enough. Thank you (The Hewitt’s)

My sisters and I travelled from Australia and we had lunch here- we absolutely loved the environment, classic pub food and lovely service. 10/10 would recommend.

Just happened across this pub because we had a few hours to spare after the Harry Potter tour and I don’t have enough good things to say about it. Little family run joint that was well priced, well run and good company.

A lovely traditional pub, serving good pub food like ham , egg and chips . The landlady was very welcoming even when busy getting ready to open up . We enjoyed the homemade bread pudding with ice cream, just like my Nan used to make . Great service at the bar too.

Booked up for 10 at last minute. Even though they were not open for food, they opened and provided excellent meals for us all. Friendly management and staff. Great drinks and food. Definitely recommend

Came here for the great Aunts wake. Fantastic service, friendly staff. The chef had broken his leg/ankle and was off work for 6 weeks so the landlady was working in the kitchen as well as looking after us, with the staff all doing their vlvillbit to help cover too. Shows how much the team care, really well done!

We popped in after doing the WB studio tour for some lunch and a pint, food was lovely, staff friendly and helpful, we had a really nice afternoon.

A busy, multi level, lively pub full of locals (on a Saturday) competing to be heard. Bar service very good, fair amount of parking.

Racist Blond Waitress - Worst service in Hertfordshire I should have reported that blond old waitress to the police last Saturday who humiliated me and my friends in front of everyone in the pub. She saw us getting out of the car in the car park and entering the pub. Straight away she started yelling at us (without us even saying a word to each other), she pointed her finger at us screaming like an animal, saying "You're not gonna be served here! You are definitely not being served here I saw you outside" I think she must have been drunk or lost her tablets as we haven't done anything at all. Parked our car and calmly walked inside. We were planning to have dinner and have a couple of drinks, and return home with an Uber. I don't know what made her think we were unreasonable and unsafe to be served. Ohh we were the only foreigners.... Funny enough my partner was in the pub 2 weeks ago with his English mate and they were being served with no problems..The attitude that this old and ugly person (not human) presented is unacceptable, clearly demonstrated anti social behaviour!!!! Shame on you and the way you are working disgusting woman. Never mind, Paper Mills didn't mind taking our money and being friendly and welcome!

Visited for lunch with my sister & our kids. From arrival staff were wonderful, extremely friendly & helpful. Great food menu & plenty of options for kids. Food arrived promptly & all meals were excellent. Best chunky chips I’ve ever had! Food prices extremely cheap, particularly kids menu, amazing value. Popped in for the first time. Mum had a glass of wine but when she tried it it was undrinkable. It actually made her feel sick when sipping it. I appreciate it wasn’t an expensive wine by any means, but even at that level, she has never been known to leave virtually the whole glass untouched until now. When informing the lady behind the bar who served her, her response was you can pay for another option. Also told no other wine was available, after offering to pay more for it. Really let down with the service and wine option/quality. It’s a shame as we wanted to give this pub a positive chance given the good review record and it being a local of ours. No reason to return. Not sure at all why it’s ranked so highly, unless it’s the food (which we didn’t try).

I had not been in this pub for over 25 years and it was still as I remember all those years ago plus it has a great history to mention.But most of all a lovely Atmosphere.

We popped in on the off chance they’d have a table on a busy Saturday lunchtime, and although they were really busy the lovely Scottish landlady squeezed us in for a quick lunch. It was all very tasty and the team working there were lovely!

Wow! As complete out of towners, just stopping for a lunch before our trip to Harry Potter World we were not disappointed. Great honest food at fabulous prices, and the warmest welcome I have ever had in a British establishment. Well done the Unicorn Inn we will be recommending, I wish we lived closer!!!!!

The Unicorn is a lovely pub!!!👌👌👌 Very nice atmosphere, just nice people comes here and owners are really very nice people!!! As foreigners I can say that we feel like at home... Always busy on weekends , that's a reason why...🍻🍻🍻 It's possible to watch football over there, inside and outside as well. Guinnes is properly poured and always on top!!! Best in the area ! Wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived because on a Monday lunchtime it wasn’t very full and it all looked rather basic. There was a nice fireplace and chopped wood at one end of the bar and we were at the other end in a dining area that was a bit like a café. However, the staff were very nice and welcoming. The food was traditional pub food, but the scampi and chips were excellent and the steak and ale pie had plenty of good quality steak and a rich brown gravy. The vegetables were good as well, especially the peas which were soft and very tasty. extremely good value and we enjoyed our meal

Myself and my partner visited as we were staying local for Harry Potter Studios. We called the previous day to ask if they would be showing a football game, the lady confirmed but we didn't book a table. When we arrived the following day, there was a table reserved with perfect viewing of the tv that she had saved for us. We had a Sunday lunch which was delicious and desserts were lovely too. Got chatting to a few locals and made us feel really welcome, would definitely recommend to all visitors. Thank you for having us.

Absolutely awful food, worst coffee I have ever had which was really disappointing as I was getting together with family after 5 years. None of us enjoyed any of the dishes. Do not recommend having food or coffee here. Only nice element was the bottle of coke!

Great service and friendly staff. We booked a lunch before going to Harry Potter world and it was an excellent choice. Decent pub grub with efficient and friendly service. We only had a main course as we were time constrained but pudding looked really good too.

Today was 1st visit and was for a funeral wake have to say the chips 🍟 put on tables were fantastic best I've eaten in years. On hearing about their Sunday lunches will be booking in asap, home made food.

I did book here as there were 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 children. We stopped for a late lunch before going to Harry Potter. Good decision, great location - 10 mins to the tour. Lovely food and service, nice atmosphere too. Definitely recommend.

Proper pub this , great food , service , drinks are awesome . Deb and Ade run a great local pub , that is always busy . Plenty of Sports on, but also quiet areas to sit if you prefer . My local pub and i consider myself very lucky .

We stumbled across this lovely pub whilst looking for somewhere for lunch after visiting family. We were so impressed by the wonderful and welcoming service and delightful atmosphere. My parents and I really enjoyed a delicious roast dinner which was such high quality and really generous portions. We are so happy to have found The Unicorn and will definitely be back.

Having read reviews in this establishment we popped in for lunch on the way to harry potter experience. All lived up to expectations, friendly staff and good food. I would recommend the fish finger sandwiche and chunky chips, one of the children also wanted the kids fish finger meal as a sandwiche and as if by magic bread and butter appeared on the side! This place is a must if you are ever in the area.

Me and the wife visited this afternoon as we were looking to kill time before out trip to Harry Potter World around the corner. We chose this pub by random and we were very happy with the choice. Staff very friendly and warm when we entered and immediately served us and gave us menus as well as showing us to our seat. Drinks were lovely, food even better and a service with a smile goes a long way to make you feel welcome. Quality of food was really good, we had a beef 1/4 pounder with cheese and an American chicken burger meal. Also a side of onion rings with a dessert and a couple of drinks each and was under £40, very impressed! I would and will return to this pub, mostly because of how welcome we felt but all of the above I mentioned. Thanks for having us 🙏

Without doubt the best pub family meal in memory - impeccable service, top quality and very tasty food, wonderfully friendly staff and a very happy gluten free child who was catered for amazingly and had full roast with g/f gravy and Yorkshire puddings - this place goes the extra mile and is a fantastic location for pre or post visit to Warner Bros for the Harry Potter experience!
