The Victoria Inn in Southwark

Decent boozer, very busy and loud on a Friday night. Bit too busy and loud for me, but good if that's the atmosphere you're looking for. Service was fast. Came back hear to eat, and though the place was almost empty, it took them 30 minutes to seat us. We ended up eating somewhere else, as while we were waiting to be seated we saw food sitting out waiting to be served and going cold the entire time.

Came here for the Sunday roast. Whilst the food was ok, the service was really poor. Waiting staff were non-existent so was easier to go to the bar to order rounds of drinks even though we were told it was table service. My Sunday roast was pretty good however one of our group had the butt end of the porchetta joint (20% meat - 80% fat/crackling) so asked to get that replaced. Was disappointing given the articles and reviews seen online. Wouldn’t rush back.

Fantastic staff made welcome from moment walked in. The food is to die for and far better than normal pub food. The shower in the room was the best ever had and we travel a lot. This made the trip up from Devon well worth it and planning to return if not just to talk to the staff.

Quite a nice pub but £4.10 for a lime and soda water is absurd

Ideally located for our evening out. Easy walk from Peckham Rye Station. Really friendly guy who checked us in on arrival and at breakfast dealt with a minor issue promptly and fully. Our room was great, nicely fitted out, clean, warm, quiet. The price was good and I would definitely recommend to friends and family and stay there again if I'm in the area

I went with my partner, his parents and our baby. The staff were friendly but the order was messed up and then the food was really disappointing. We all ordered different food and none of us thought it was well nice. Even the chips were cooked poorly - in a pub, that’s just terrible! Shame as it’s a nice venue and they were accommodating with the pram but the food was so bad, I will only go for a drink again.

This is one of the best experiences I have had. This place is incredibly charming and Carli and Del were nothing but warm and inviting and helped us with ANYTHING that we needed. We were here for 11 days and I have no complaints. The neighborhood was just as welcoming. The rooms are nice and clean and my bed was so comfortable. I was above the restaurant below and it was not that loud and they shut down at 10 most nights. I would definitely stay here again. Wonderful establishment and even more amazing people!

Waitress/Bartender Hannah is the absolute best. She served me and my fiends amazingly when we came for or Christmas get together. Her service, attitude and personality is one of the best Ive ever experienced.

Shout out to staff member Hannah who is an apsolute angel. Her level of service, attention and knowledge is excellent and she makes everyone feel so comfortable. Our evening in the function room was incredibly special and Hannah played a big part in that. Our food was delicious and the ambience really cosy. Thank you for everything Hannah!! You are a joy!

Really nice fish and chips and for dessert the Knickerbocker glory was well worth the wait. You will not be disappointed.

Great food, great space, christmas lunch with friends was amazing

Family of 4, Sunday lunch. Well, the food was good, the ambience and vibe was great and our lovely waitress worked tirelessly throughout the dining area which was woefully short of staff. She was great, and did a fine job. BUT what was less good, in fact very poor, was another member of staff who when asked said she is a supervisor (and had not been seen until now) who just stopped at our table and said “we need the table back”. And then slapped the bill down on the table. We had been there for less than 2 hours at this point and spent £124.54 on our food and a round of drinks. I get it that we had it for 2 hours or so for lunch on a busy Sunday before Xmas. But she might have shown a bit of charm when asking for the table back. She looked like thunder, acted like she wanted to be anywhere but at work and certainly has zero hospitality skills. She just wanted us gone. What a shame that she can’t see she is letting the team (of only 2 waiting staff, it’s a busy place) down. Single handedly taking my review from 5 stars to 3. The supervisor needs training on basic customer service skills.

Had a large table booked for 1pm on Sunday for a birthday. Should have known we were in trouble when there was one person on the bar so drinks took ages. No massive issue there but food has all been pre-ordered so assumed it wouldn’t take too long… Roasts didn’t starts coming out until 2.30 - an HOUR and a half after the booking. Not only that but we had to start delivering the plates to the table ourself because there were no waiters at all. Clearly massively short staffed but manager didn’t care to pitch in and help. Roast in the end was pretty nice, but just appalling serving and no apology or discount on food for waiting so long. Apparently pub has come under new management. Would think very carefully about ever making a large booking there.

Excellent hotel staff. The largest rooms and bathrooms of any London hotel. Suoer recommendable. The station of three to four blocks that connects with any point in London in 10 minutes

Recently stayed for one night, staff were so welcoming and informative, room was lovely with everything you needed, bed was super comfy and all very clean. We booked for a cooked breakfast in the morning and wow it was amazing (could have easily eaten a whole plate of the mushrooms on the side, they were the delicious)

Had a lovely dinner here, steak was delicious and the service was very welcoming. Would highly recommend

Went for a cosy evening drink with friend, love it, the atmosphere brings back the nostalgia of yesteryear. Stayed longer than planned, ordered great food, curry and streak, beautiful 😍

Though placed in a lovely neighbourhood near Peckham Rye station, we were very disappointed with our room, considering the price. General wear and tear throughout which is forgivable, but the room was not clean (hairs in the bathroom, with gunk around the shower etc.), no toilet brush either which was a bit odd. The room was quite small and uncomfortable. There was a loud buzzing noise nearby which made sleep difficult also. Overall, a disappointing experience for a high price and not very attentive staff.

Had a great family night out. Good food, and a great atmosphere. Our sever (Hannah) was really helpful, and did a great job looking after us. Looking forward to coming back again :)

I am shocked to see how this place has gone down. Met a friend, who I raved about this place to. So embarrassing to have. We shared a bottle of wine and some nibbles in the corner. Tables were all dirty and not been cleared from previous guests but saw the apparent person in charge, Hannah, happy to leave her colleague to go and enjoy her roast eventhough the place was falling apart. On her return, she faced a family of 9 who had a booking but they didn't have a table. We noticed their frustration, unlike Hannah, and moved tables. No one offered us a thankyou or cleaned the table for the family. I was in disbelief as I work in restaurants and actually cleaned the table for them myself. We made comments on the way out of our disappointment and were faced with daggers. Sunday is not fun day for staff. Really need to up your game considering your prices. I will not be back but do feel for the family with kids who were left hanging.

Been going for a long time. The menu has been the same for years. It never changes. I took myself to the Rye , I think its called Angel now? It was the exact same menu as the Victoria.

We had heard Bellenden was the place for burgers. Came here. Very happy. Chatted to the really nice geezer behind the bar and we both went for the burger on recommendation. Wow. Excellent burger! Thank you so much. We had a great time. Really good 9/10 burger easily. My wife said "The best burger I've had ever!" Will try Montpellier another time but this will take some beating. Cheers

Stayed in the superior double room, very comfy, spacious and modern with coffee facilities, hair dryer and toiletries. Great location only a short walk away from Peckham Rye train station, set in a charming neighbourhood. Carly the manager is an absolute delight, would recommend visiting to both friends and family

Came here to watch the Euros semi final in the private function room - air conditioned, comfortable seating, big TV with good sound. Would definitely recommend for a different experience to watch big sport events!

Segunda vez aquí para un maravilloso asado dominical. Nos encontramos con este lugar hace unas semanas y descubrimos uno de los mejores asados que hemos probado. La col ahumada es bastante especial. Gran Yorkshire, cantidad razonable de carne - grandes porciones. Esperamos volver pronto!

Pre-dinner drinks and the Watermelon Margarita and Mocktail were cooling and delicious. And thank you for the aircon indoors on a hot London afternoon (29°).

Tuvimos una estancia encantadora habitación estaba impecable y el personal cómodo era increíble, tan amable y servicial, fue más allá de ser servicial. La comida es deliciosa, tienen un menú encantador. En una posición ideal céntrica pero tranquila.

Desde el momento en que entramos fuimos bienvenidos por Luke que era absolutamente maravilloso. Teníamos nuestros 2 Bichon Frise's con nosotros y Luke nos dio un tazón de agua para los perros que era tan encantador de su parte. Teníamos el pollo al ajo Kiev, patatas fritas y judías verdes y era hermoso - gracias también al chef. Luke era increíble con todos los clientes que se registraban en el hotel, ya que podía escuchar lo que les estaba diciendo. Su servicio de atención al cliente y la atención al detalle es 1 clase de calle y le dije esto también. Luke es un crédito para su pub / restaurante / hotel si todo el mundo tenía un Luke trabajando para ellos que haría mucho mejor entrar para ver una sonrisa útil, cara.

This hotel/pub is a gem. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The room was small but very clean with a great shower. The breakfast was on of the best English breakfast’s that I’ve ever eaten. Really really delicious. The location is within easy reach of central London by bus. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to London.

John and I stayed overnight on Sat 04 May and were very happy with our room, friendly and helpful staff and the general ambience at the Victoria Inn. The Manager, Carly, and all of her colleagues made my family and ourselves very welcome too. We also enjoyed a delicious brunch this morning and will definitely return in the future!

We decided to stay at the Victoria Inn to visit London for the first time. We were very pleasantly surprised: the rooms were clean and modern, especially for the low price. It is very easy to go from Peckham Rye to the center of London, both by bus and underground. What we enjoyed most was the food for breakfast and dinner. We had the best meals of our lives! The staff was also very nice and friendly. We wanted to thank Deleene for her kindness since the first day we arrived. We were looking forward to seeing her each day! I really recommend this place if you want to visit London.

The roast dinner was the best we have tried in London and we have tried many! The food was so well seasoned, came out quickly and the staff were very friendly. Will be a regular visitor on Sundays!

Had a super lovely fish and chips made by charlie, honestly the best fish and chips i have ever had, this was all topped off with they most friendly, fast and helpful service from Ahmed, if you are ever passing make sure to pop in and say hi

I've stayed here a couple of times in the past; however this is a review of a delightful Sunday afternoon and evening. Chilled atmosphere, talented duo playing and entertaining all age groups from 2- OAP! Staff accommodating and personable. Particularly, Carly, Adam, Luke and Hannah. Fantastic ambience. Highly commended.

This is such a good find. Great rooms, friendly welcome and outstandingly good food. I've eaten out in London over 1000 the last 50 years and the food tonight - crispy lamb belly followed by porcini risotto ranks in my top 5 meals ever in London. Washed down with 2 perfext pints of Guinness

A great hotel with lovely rooms. The staff and owners are very friendly and always helpful. I stay there every time I go to London (about 6 times) and have booked in next week. The restaurant is excellent too. :-)

This location is much better served than most and visitors shouldn't be deterred by it seeming a long way out. The pub and restaurant are both excellent.

1st class service by Ahmed. He was extremely attentive, welcoming and chatting to us at every stage of our meal. Ahmed delivered an exceptional level of service we have not experienced at more expensive restaurants. Food was delicious too. Would definitely recommend this pub.

Absolutely excellent service - we did not stay, we just went for a meal. The food was first rate, and the service - especially from Del was second to none.

Lovely environment and exceptional staff. I had a one night stay at this establishment and the service was impeccable. I had a lovely lady named Del who checked me in, she was very attentive and made me feel welcome. I regularly stay away for work and have frequented in multiple hotels and not had service as good as this. I needed to book a taxi and did not know where the nearest taxi rank was, as I do not use Uber or online apps etc. Del kindly called me a taxi and ensured I got in it safely. A complete 5 star service and lovely conversation. I will definitely be returning to the Victoria inn soon.

Everything you want in a pub burger these days. Good quality ingredients and interesting twists on an original. Staff extremely friendly and attentive with personality. Prices are high but quality matches.

Well, what can I say other than wow. What a fabulous pub. The squid, to die for. The fried onion, what a delight. The beer, hoorah.The atmosphere is all you could ask for. Cannot fault and will certainly be back.

Generally ok. The prices have gone up a lot and the cask ale isn't kept at all well.

We can not thank the team highly enough for an amazing Christmas day!! The food was incredible. Turkey beautifully moist and roast potatoes both crispy and fluffy! One of the best Christmas meals I have ever had! A personal visit from the manager to see how our meal was going was a beautiful touch!

Stayed at the Victoria inn when attending a wedding, the rooms are spacious, beds are large with extremely comfortable mattresses.

We shared an intimate festive family gathering in the Private Dining Room here. It was a really lovely occasion. Our food was very well presented and tasty with good sized portions. Don't think you'd go hungry here! Had a wonderful selection of red wines as well. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive with a great sense of humour. The whole place seemed to be full with a wonderful atmosphere. I didn't know the area surrounding the Victoria but there are some interesting independent ones also worth supporting. A good time had by all and I shall return soon.

We have stayed here many times while visiting family in the area. The Inn is well-managed, clean enjoyable and reasonably priced. It’s well worth checking out and booking. We have never been disappointed.

Went for dinner on Sunday, I was treated well by Carly and the Team. The scallop was perfectly cooked and the Roast Porchetta was divine! It was well proportioned and the flavour was gorgeous. The food was portrayed amazingly and that was just the cherry on top. The sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was one of the best tasting things I have eaten. The flavours melted in my mouth and the ice cream just added that little bit extra. Will definitely be coming back again for another visit!

Absolute gem of a pub. Our visit strated with a warm welcome from Hannah. We hadn't booked, it was a very busy Sunday but Carly managed to locate us a table for the duration of our visit. Relieved and thankful for all carlys efforts. Service was friendly & speedy 😀 Food was absolutely beautiful. The roast potatoes were immense and the gravy delicious 😋 The meals were so tasty and fresh it was even better than eating my mums roast 🤣 Can't wait for our return visit in the new year. After an afternoon at the park with the kids, we stopped in at the Victoria Inn for a drink and a bite to eat. The menu had an array of options for such a quaint little pub, but we all settled on a Sunday roast. There were four options on their roast dinners which included a vegan option, all of which were freshly prepared on site. When the food came out, it was presented beautifully, and tasted amazing. Carly in particular, was incredibly welcoming, very friendly and she was amazing with my 9 and 12 year too! Thank you for giving me a perfect end to our afternoon out. I'm looking forward to coming back to sample some more (no doubt) amazing food.

Went for Sunday lunch and I must say, it’s our new favourite spot. The food was delicious. Staff were also super friendly and the pub itself is cozy. The only negative, if I have to pick something, is the price of the mulled wine. We didn’t stay in the rooms but from what I’ve seen, I’d recommend the Victoria Inn to visitors. We’ll definitely be back!!

Went for Sunday roast was absolutely lovely. Compliments to the chef. My hostess Deleene was very polite, observant and attended to all my needs. Her bubbly personality made the experience much better. Would defiantly come again.

Lovely Sunday roast, we were 3 people to walk in late afternoon on Sunday and they sat us down immediately. Great scallop starter, we liked the Côtes du Rhône wine, the roast and gravy were delicious and special mention for the vegetarian roast !! Best we tried so far! Will definitely do again thank you!

One of the most pleasant stays I've had! The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The rooms are nice and the vegan food options were delicious! Train and Underground stations are close by so it's a good location. It was an overall great experience, I can really recommend it! :)

Amazing hotel, couldn't be more happy with my stay! I came here with my sister and the Victoria Inn was a most pleasant surprise for both of us! The rooms were great and the staff went above and beyond for us and made our stay a very positive experience. The location is also quite good. The Peckham Rye train station is right around the corner, so you are in the middle of London in about 25 minutes. There was also an amazing roast dinner on Sunday (with an outstanding vegan option!) and the staff will gladly book you a nice table. I will most likely be back for my next trip to London!

As a family with kids, finding a local pub that caters to our needs can be quite a challenge. However, we were fortunate enough to have the victoria in and it has quickly become our go-to spot for quality family time. One of the standout features of this pub is its family-friendly atmosphere. The spacious seating area provides room for families with kids, allowing us to comfortably dine. Speaking of meals, the food at the vic is great and has improved a lot in the last 6 month. The menu offers a wide variety of options, including kid-friendly choices.great selections of wine too. From themed nights to live music performances, there is always something exciting happening that appeals to both kids and adults. We honestly love it and highly recommend ❤️🥂

This has to be one of the best places for Sunday lunch in and around Peckham. We have been coming to the Victoria since it was the Wishing Well back in the day. The staff are so incredibly friendly and welcoming. Really relaxing atmosphere and the food is always amazing. We brought our elderly mum here for a special Sunday lunch. She loved it. We had both vegan and meat roasts. All our dishes were incredible. But what really makes this pub is the atmosphere and the team who work here. Lovely people.

What a great experience eating & drinking in the Victoria Inn, back streets of Peckham. A truly fantastic Sunday lunch. The Staff here are exceptionally hardworking with a friendly smile. I went for the fish & chips absolutely delicious & very good size portion , washed down with Devon cider. This is one place I’ll be returning. 👍🏽

What beautiful pub 😍 Visited with family for mothers day with three generations and the dog. I love how dog friendly this establishment is as Bella was welcomed with a fresh bowl of water. Hannah, our server, was amazing. Very friendly, great cocktail recommendations and speedy service. Carly, the general manager, enthusiastically welcomed us and showed us to our table. She also popped back to ensure we were enjoying our meal. The food. WOW. Beautiful to look at and isanstiable to the taste buds. Duncan is a miracle worker in that kitchen as I learned that all food is produced onsite. Even the gherkin ketchup! Thank you for such a lovely mothers day and we will be back to try some more food soon!
