This is your quintessential English countryside pub but with an excellent and diverse menu. Our favourite place in Sevenoaks. Sunday roast is a classic but their regular menu also has a wide selection of great choices. P.S. our picky eater niece says the customer garlic buttered noodles are the best she’s ever had…

The White Hart: Where Cosy Meets Classy (and the Chips Are Worth Writing Home About) The White Hart in Sevenoaks isn’t just a pub – it’s a destination. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick pint, a celebratory dinner, or because you’ve heard whispers of their legendary Sunday roast, this place delivers on all fronts. It’s like walking into your best friend’s living room – if your best friend had a flair for rustic chic and a kitchen that could win Michelin stars for its gravy. The décor is that perfect blend of “posh country pub” and “please spill nothing on these beautifully upholstered chairs.” Wooden beams, roaring fireplaces, and just the right amount of candlelight make it feel like the kind of place Jane Austen characters would meet for a pint after a long day of matchmaking. Now, let’s talk about the menu. This isn’t your standard pub grub – oh no. The food here is elevated. The fish and chips? So crispy and golden, you’ll be tempted to write them a sonnet. The burgers? Juicy enough to make you question every sad barbecue you’ve ever attended. And don’t even get me started on the sticky toffee pudding – it’s so good it probably comes with its own fan club. Drinks-wise, they’ve got you covered. Fancy a craft beer? Sorted. Want a glass of wine so smooth you’ll feel like you’re in Tuscany? They’ve got that too. And the bar staff? Legends. They’ll chat with you like old mates while expertly pouring your drink, making you feel like a VIP in your own local. The outdoor seating is another win. On a sunny day, the garden is a little slice of Kentish heaven. Dogs are welcome, kids are welcome, and if you happen to be wearing wellies after a countryside ramble, no one will bat an eye. It’s the kind of place where everyone fits in – even the deer from Knole Park would feel at home. The White Hart is everything you want a pub to be: warm, welcoming, and with food so good you’ll consider moving in. Five stars – and an extra one for the chips. They’re that good.

Staff were amazing. They went out of their way to accommodate a few special requests for our children. This was our second time back - the Sunday roast is the best we’ve had at a pub in Kent. Pork belly in particular is incredible! Would highly recommend if you’re looking for fab service and food with actual flavour.

The menu is good, definitely on the pricey side. Roast menu on Sundays is great and worth the money. The service is usually great, fast and friendly staff, but on the odd occasion you may find yourself waiting for a while. Parking gets tricky closer to 1pm, however it is free. I pushed my Mum in her wheelchair through Sevenoaks' narrow streets, past busy cafés and noisy restaurants with tiny doors and steep steps and eventually found ourselves outside the town walking up the long hill past Knole park. We arrived at The White Hart hot, dishevelled and inappropriately dressed for the occasion but were welcomed in and seated though the place was very busy. The staff could not have been more helpful, understanding and courteous. Despite our late arrival we were allowed time to relax before ordering and then we were treated to some of the best food we have had in the Kent/Sussex area EVER! (We are not young or inexperienced in these matters) Every care and consideration was afforded us and we stayed for extra drinks just to enjoy the experience for a little longer. I cannot thank the staff or praise the chefs enough. The presentation and flavours of the food were superb. We are already planning to gather more family members and book another experience in the near-as-possible future. The decor, ambience and cleanliness were comfortable, welcoming and faultless. Thank you so much to everyone at The White Hart for turning a disaster of a day into one of our favourite memories. We look forward to returning many times.

An excellent experience all round. Food was great but it’s clear the service makes all the difference. Sitting down at 4pm on a Sunday; the pub was already incredibly busy - table was cleared within 5 minutes of arrival and the first thing that struck was just how many staff were available and incredibly efficient. An amazing team make any business tick and it was refreshing to experience it first hand. Helped keep the old folks happy for their 50th anniversary too so thank you to each and everyone in today. Been eating at the White Hart for years and never had a bad experience. Very good with food intolerances to the extent, having been forewarned that one of our party had extreme intolerances, they rang on the morning to check that the special dishes they were preparing were OK. This is a lovely period building which hasn’t been turned into a ubiquitous, stripped pine, characterless space, but it’s retained its period charm. The interior is spacious with many dining areas, but there’s a rather charming intimacy about The White Hart which ensures more visits from me. We hadn’t booked for dinner, but arrived on spec and were given a pleasant table. Staff are lovely, very friendly without being intrusive and self-assured without being arrogant. I opted for duck leg and fondant potato as my main, my companion, for chicken. Food was well-cooked, well-seasoned, flavoursome and a refreshing change from the usual “pub grub” The White Hart is a very good place.

A nice pub close to Knole Park and accessible via the trail and a gate leading to the main road where it's situated. We stopped in for a couple of beers, there's plenty of choice and they're reasonably priced. The pub itself is traditional and quirky, with plenty of tables and space. There's a small beer garden out back with around 8 to 10 tables. Service is quick and friendly.

I had posted a review about the white hart last year after it became our regular. Sadly have to update from a perfect 5 to a 1. We visited on Thursday evening and arrived at 20.40 hrs (knowing kitchen last orders are at 9pm) and asked for a table. The floor manager immediately responded by saying only if you order immediately and said you can sit there pointing at the table next to the main door. Asked if there was an alternative she abruptly said no. We had sat at this table before and it's the worst table in the restaurant. We were hungry so decided to stay. I had a quick look around and could see there were at least 6 tables available in the main dining room including a table fpr 2 that was not clean but had 2 napkins and two glasses and asked if we could use that table. The manager was extremely rude and abrupt and said no cause I have to clean it. I said it would take 15 seconds and she started huffing and puffing and getting irritated. I asked her to not get nervous but she decided she was in the right and at which point I had enough of her arrogance and we walked out. We have been to the white hart over 20 times...but never came across such arrogance. Never again

Friends live here and we joined for Sunday lunch. Sat outside on the wooden benches, nice garden, lovely building. My scallop starter was great, well cooked with a zingy lemon oil and pea purée, not cheap at nearly £16. The roast arrived, parsnip purée, my piece of lamb was very small once I’d taken the fat off, obviously this can be a problem with lamb, the roast potatoes were crispy and soft on the inside, delicious gravy and greens were ok, for £26, it was a bit ordinary, On a positive note, we had been invited and it was a lovely meal, with old friends. My starter was so good, the roast was a let down. Yes, I would go again, stunning setting and on the whole nice food, brilliant service.

The food is good, the atmosphere is good, however the service can vary drastically! We’ve been coming here for years, overall the food has always been good and it’s a pleasant pub to dine in. In terms of service, our experience is very similar every time; the more experienced members of staff are great and do everything you would expect. However, there are always a large number of very young presumably inexperienced waitresses (apologies I cannot recall names otherwise would quote them) who tend to have quite limited talents when it comes to hospitality! They loiter around chatting to one another making it extremely difficult for us customers to gain their attention, they are unfriendly, and lack politeness in situations such as when we walked past two of them on the way out, neither said goodbye or allowed us to say a customary “thank you” instead they looked at us, frowned and quietly shuffled past! This is about what I would expect from a McDonalds but would have anticipated a bit more politeness when comparing this to similar pubs. The only reason I feel the need to point this out is because this sort of attitude really drags down what would otherwise be a lovely pub, we will be returning but already dreading the frowns of these youngsters!

Great venue for a family get-together. Interesting & varied menu. Pies looked handmade & very appealing; curry very nicely presented with *big* prawns; chicken saltimbocca could have been better presented but was very tasty; salmon with chargrilled chicory was absolutely delicious. Only criticism of the last was the small quantity of potato (especially compared to the carbs with the curry). However, this left room for triple chocolate brownie, which was immaculate. Possibly the best I've ever tasted. Sadly panna cotta & raspberry posset had both run out. Ambience very relaxed & comfortable, but quite noisy at times (including us!) As a semi-serious ale drinker, I found the beer a little disappointing, but others were quite happy. We ate indoors as it was a little chilly, but the beer garden is very spacious including a play area. The roses were beautiful. Hypercritical review as there's not much to improve: all in all, definitely worth going out of the way for. :)

We've been coming here for years but my 85 year old father doesn't want to come anymore because he was offended for the second time at the way you demand a tip/service charge by, in his words, thrusting the machine under his nose and saying 'tip'. He couldn't read the screen and felt if he didn't leave one he would feel bad. I don't think guests should feel this way when leaving. Maybe, 'If you would like to leave a tip/service charge we would be most grateful. On the screen you will see a few options. If today you don't wish to that is fine and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.' Manners maketh the man'.

What a find! Brilliant pub. Service - Super friendly attentive service right from the beginning. Food - The food was delicious. We had the prawn curry (giant prawns!) and the steak burger. Latte was also lovely. We didn’t have starters or desserts but I am sure they’d have been just as good. The settings - Beautiful settings, we booked the garden covered area and it was glorious. The interior of the pub also looked great, & the conservatory looked lovely. They also had uncovered garden seating at the back of the pub & a few tables roadside at the front - so ample choice. There was also a small play frame for kids. Dogs on leads are allowed in the gardens and the bar. Parking - Car park isn’t massive. We arrived on a sunny Saturday 1.30pm and it was full. However the road directly outside the pub can be parked on, there was no parking signs to prohibit and other cars had done the same. So that’s a plus to have road parking! Both options are free. Prices - it wasn’t super cheap, standard gastro-pub prices £17-£19 for a main, £8 for a dessert and so on. We had a cocktail, main and coffees and it was £25 each. But for the price I think it’s pretty standard nowadays. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for such friendly service, delicious food and glorious settings!

Tuesday evening was no exception,; the pub was busy but not full. We had a table booked for a family 12:30 lunch today (10th February). When we arrived, we were treated to a warm smile and friendly greeting by a female member of staff and shown quickly to our table. Within a couple of minutes of being seated, a friendly waiter appeared, who efficiently, and without fuss, took our orders for drinks. Our main meals arrived (thankfully altogether) within a reasonable short space of time. The gourmet verdict about our meals from our entire family group was extremely positive. Tasty, delicious, substantial and hot, were the four words we all used to describe our food. My daughter had a dessert, which she was very happy with, and all of us had beverages after our main course. I would certainly return to the White Hart in the near future, and because of our excellent lunch, I have no hesitation in recommending the White Hart as a great dining venue.

Nice restaurant attached to a good pub. The environment is very nice. The outdoor garden is very pleasant in the summer and there is a children’s play area near the car. The white Hart is located along the edge of Knoll park.

Booked a table for 1.30pm. On arrival we were welcomed and taken to our table immediately. Our server took a drink order and then returned in a timely manner to take the food order. We had venison pudding and scallop starters followed by chicken and fish cake mains which were well cooked, nicely seasoned and attractively presented. No undue waiting time between ordering and receiving each course. Portions were sufficient rather than excessive. To follow, there's an offering of small dessert plus a warm drink which makes sense and the small dessert is a sensible conclusion to what have been sufficient starters and mains. Prices are what you'd expect for better than average pub meals and the menu selection is sensibly sized. Although it's part of a chain, the staff all made us feel that we mattered as customers, and that we would be welcome on our return. Car park was full when we arrived so keep this in mind if booking at a busy time. Handy place for a meal if visiting Knowle Park.

Great bar meal (steak and ale pie) washed down with great beer (George's marvellous medicine), in front of great real fire, served by real great staff Louis and Georgina. So good we visited twice in one week as very handy for gatwick

I think this pub must have changed owners over the past few years. It was always full of walkers. It was always our go to pub when we wanted good food and a great atmosphere. My (frozen) fish and chips was very hot despite being served on a freezing cold plate. The waitress smoking directly outside the window did not help. Hopefully they will address some of these issues and get back to serving, great pub food at a reasonable price.

Went on a busy Saturday evening. Drinks and dinner were excellent. Staff worked extremely hard to make sure everything was running as smoothly as possible. Would recommend booking a table if you’re planning on having a meal. Beef stroganoff was top class.
