We came for a Christmas meal as a group of friends. The place is beautifully decorated for Christmas on a classy way. The food was lovely the meat cooked to perfection. The staff were so busy but nothing was to M ch trouble. Everyone said that they would be back. Thank you for creating a great atmosphere.

Had a lovely meal here. Food was absolutely gorgeous & the Christmas decorations/music made the evening even better. The sticky toffee pudding is honestly the best I've ever tasted! Will be definitely be back 😀

Teníamos el estofado de carne y hamburguesa y ambos estaban deliciosos. Grandes porciones y muy fresco. La hamburguesa casera era genial! El personal era atento y amable y ya estamos reservando de nuevo antes de Navidad. Gracias a todos por hacer que sea una noche de citas encantadora.

Esta fue una visita de regreso después de 12 meses fuera debido a la disminución de la calidad. Vaya cambio. El interior se ha actualizado y se ve fresco y con clase. Tuvimos el almuerzo del domingo de cerdo asado y estaba delicioso. Fantásticos sabores y grandes porciones. La carne fue una de las mejores que hemos probado con crujido crujiente. Todas las verduras estaban perfectamente cocidas y abundantes. La única queja es tener que pagar extra por un budín de yorkshire, que era ligero y esponjoso, que sentimos que es una parte integral de un almuerzo dominical tradicional. Definitivamente volveremos.

Great food and was always my go to, but this visit was soured by the need to pay a non-refundable deposit…never needed that before for a 12 noon reservation. It will make me think twice about the venue next time.

Food is spot on here been going for last 2/3 years only issue is the menu has never changed would be great to see chef put some new dishes on This is by no means a dig Like a said the food is top drawer 👍🏽

Really enjoyed our meal here the other day. 2 of us had the steak and ale pie which was beautiful and plenty of it! Other 2 had the white horse chicken burger and seabass. All really enjoyed our meals and the service was great. Can't wait to go back and try some other things on the menu!

Food was amazing. Very nice menu, was spoiled for choice. The gammon had a very nice fire grilled flavour. The homemade chips were bang on! Only dropped a star because the service felt a bit lacking in attention. Kept having to try and get somebody’s attention just to get more drinks and eventually the bill. Maybe should have gone the bar but that wasn’t made clear. It looked like it was full table service. Place was cosy and busy. Would definitely go again and recommend to friends and family.

Had a superb Sunday lunch there yesterday, although there was a temporary power cut in the bar the staff were outstanding and the food was truly delicious a definite 100% recommendation from me 👍

This has now become our favourite place to eat. I had seen facebook posts, and the food looked nice, but we just hadn't got around to going. We have been twice now and tried different things. The first time , we had the pulled beef baguettes with big chunky chips. The chips were gorgeous, I love home cooked chips as opposed to frozen fries. There was so much meat in the sandwich that I had to ask for something to take it home in, and I finished it off later at home. The second time we tried to go on a Sunday but it was really busy and they couldn't do walk ins so it's best to book for Sunday dinner by the looks of it. The third time, we both tried the steak pie dinner with mash and vegetables. The meat just melts in your mouth. The mash was very creamy, and the vegetables were cooked just right. The food was very hot and tasted freshly made, unlike some places where you can tell it's been sat under a heat lamp. The beef gravy was made with meat juices instead of granuals. It was so nice, just how my parents used to make it for our Sunday dinners when we were kids. I definitely highly recommend going. Well, actually, maybe not, I font want it too busy that we can't get in ourselves, haha! The staff are really nice and friendly, there's a good-sized car park around the back. Some interesting decorations and items are displayed. They also have chickens at the back of the car park that you can look at. Reasonably prices, especially considering the quality of food and service you get. We've paid more and got mediocre food and terrible service at other places. So far, the only fault we have is that it's so nice that you can't always just drop in on a whim. We're looking forward to trying another option on the menu on our next visit. There's also two nice outdoor seating areas for when the weather is good. One at the front overlooking the lovely village and another at the side in a decking area.

Hubby treated me to lunch. Food was gorgeous Hubby had gammon I had the steak & Ale pie with roast veg . Service was great and friendly. Not over powering, just deliver the food then a few minutes later check you're happy with it then leave you to enjoy.

The starter came and we thought wow can’t wait for the main to come as it was delicious, but we were so disappointed by the steak pie as the meat was so tough and dry and the pastry was just placed on top so basically a stew with a bit of topping. Very lazy way to cook pie and if that’s how you’re going to do it get it right. Won’t be returning

Best Sunday dinner I've had out for ages

Well l have enjoyed going here, until yesterday when my partner was charged £13 for a small bottle of prossecco, 20cl whitch l struggle to understand why, as when l have been to other places l have not paid that amount 😕 and when you look on the website for the price list there isnt one, probably won't go back there again or recommend to anyone, really disappointed

Great Sunday lunch and dog friendly. Service from one waitress in particular was questionable when she started having a go at people for not sitting on the correct tables outside when this can't be helped if you're on your own and someone jumps onto your table when you go inside to order....

Since our last visit the menu has changed. The prices have certainly gone up especially the desserts. £7.95 er dessert. But they are lovely. Unfortunately on this visit we felt the chips were over cooked and burnt. The gammon was very salty the staff offered to cook me something else but I felt it was my choice they can't help how salty it is. Would we go again definitely x

We enjoyed a Sunday roast here. The food was nice, the portion size was okay and it was well presented. The amount of vegetables was a little tight tho, 1 small plate between 4 of us. The dessert blew us away, 1 of the best desserts I've had in a pub. The cookie dough with ice cream, definitely try it if you enjoy the sweet stuff. The actual pub is a beautiful traditional old style pub with lovely stone bricks on the inside. Service was friendly. Will return to try 1 of their famous burgers

Sat out on the sun deck last Friday having had a terrible experience at The Chequers pub in the next village. The staff were friendly and well presented, food ordering simple from a great menu. We had a superb gammon steak with pineapple salsa and homemade chips which was perfect. Highly recommended

Beautiful food - not cheap but worth the money

The white horse in Ledston is one of the best pubs in Yorkshire (in our opinion). We visit regularly and are yet to have a bad experience. The staff are lovely, the beer is fantastic and the food is excellent, portions are fit for a king with the whole ambiance just brilliant.

Great Sunday lunch.....very busy, book early. Family of 4 adults and one 5 year old had really good Sunday lunch today. Usual Sunday roasts, plus specials. Staff were welcoming and jolly. Food excellent, and sticky toffee was top drawer. Busy but plenty of space for seating. Will definitely be back here soon. Highlyrecommended

Turned up at 9pm for a drink having been numerous times as we are local we know they stop serving drinks at 10pm as we have been told before,this time we where told they where closing because they had been dead,well no wonder when we questions it and said we where not happy ad we had driven from kippaxwe said we would not be coming back so as we walked out the waitress told us to go forth and multiply but not that politely,know wonder you have no customers

The food ambiance and service was great. However, the selection for vegetarians wasn't brilliant, we appreciate the problem but think it could be better and maybe at more competitive prices. Several dishes were offered with sauces which for the weight conscious could be offered as an extra on the side. Some don't like to ask!

Outstanding restaurant and staff, food was exceptional quality, beautifully cooked and presented and served by lovely staff, definitely one to revisit. We had Saturday night in there and returned for Sunday lunch. Cannot fault it. Beers and wine also great quality, who can refuse a Timothy Taylor landlord? Great meal. Enjoyed the food but would have liked to see a lower calorie option such as a salad and perhaps more choice for vegetarians.

To start with the positives the white horse is a beautiful building and the interior is really smart and clean. It is 100% a restaurant, and while this is not bad in itself, if you want to pop in for a drink your going to be perched at the bar, or outside. This makes it difficult if your group has more than 2 or 3, or if it contains a child. The food is no more than decent. Last time I ate here, i had a fish and chips. The batter was over done and the chips were oven chips. It wasn't horrible but it was far from good. Service has been poor and slow everytime I have gone in. I have had my order overlooked at a meal, rarely greated at the bar, been made to feel like an inconvience because when I brought a push chair to a 16th century inn (that one might be on me). You will always have a long wait ordering at the bar, even if only one customer is ahead of you. The last time i was in the White Horse the bar maid spilt a drink on me and threw me a roll of blue roll while I cleaned the floor. I then paid her for the privilage. I'd love to like this place but it just isn't good enough.

Nice pub quiet but with background music. Great food everyone enjoyed there food a bit too much for my grandma and myself but pushed through the bulk of it friendly kind polite service

Lovely pub, very friendly and welcoming. Good quality real ale, exceptional food. We realised whilst there it is dog friendly too which is a bonus and whilst a small thing, the highchair was spotless, something which is rarely seen. My only feedback would be the steak pie was a little herby and lacked the rich ale flavour that I personally like, but this is just my personal preference and would still order it again. Update. Another lovely meal, spotlessly clean and good food/drink, I could happily keep working through the options. Keep up the good work.

Great little pub the food staff and atmosphere is excellent

Normally have a really good experience at the White Horse but Mother’s Day meal today was a bit of a let down. I ordered the three meat Sunday dinner and got 3 small slices of meat - picture attached. In comparison my wife had beef and received a good portion even though mine was a few quid more expensive. An extra slice of meat was brought on a separate plate when my wife mentioned it but no apology or even acknowledgement that is was a bit stingy from the waitress. The jam roly poly was also quite a miserly portion for the price. Veg portions were also small. Some of the staff were lovely and others were a bit cold. The day before the meal we received a call to confirm table and were told we had a time limit of 1hr 50mins . Bit weird really - not good customer service to make people feel rushed before they even get there. Shame really as we normally enjoy a meal there. Prior to that someone had called me to take a deposit I had already paid - forgivable as mistakes do happen but overall experience just not great. Nobody asked how the meal was at the end so no chance to even feed back. Waiter took the card payment and promptly walked off 🤷🏻‍♂️

First time I had visited and would definitely come again. Nice menu. Food was lovely (Chicken burger with the focaccia bread) and service very good and friendly staff. If I could just ask one thing for next time, please don’t switch the coffee machine off too early. 😊😊

Came for Sunday lunch today and couldn't fault it. Superb food and service everyone was friendly and so helpful. One small suggestion maybe increase vegan pudding selection (not vegan but have an intolerance to cows milk) maybe offer dairy free ice cream or cream and a milk alternative for tea or coffee 🙂

Unreal 2nd visit. I came just before lockdown and it was OK nothing to complain about at all. However my husband and I came last Sunday for dinner and Wow!!! Unreal 😍 We had the patè, delicious!!! Now I have to get that ever time. We both had the 3 meat roast, absolutely perfection! My husband then had the jam roly poly and he's a fuss pot with jam roly poly and he said it was decent! I had the choc fudge brownie dessert, wasn't my fave as had raisins in which I don't like. But that's just a preference thing. Plus I am on a diet so maybe it was a good thing. The only thingy husband said wasn't perfect was his beer was a bit flat but he said it was how it had been poured so nothing a bit of training wouldn't fix. I think it was moretti he had. This was not issue enough to not leave 5 stars and not being picky hence not saying on the day. Just friendly feedback. Honestly the best Sunday dinner experience we have had, maybe ever The food and service really were brilliant. We will 100% be back as we are only in next village.

Great food but the tables cramped

My wife and I plus our little dog had a meal with you today name Booth 2pm and all the staff very helpful and pleasant. I had meat pie 5star my wife ordered Salmon but out of stock so she was little disappointed but understood with it being New year. Overall we enjoyed our visit and we shall be back soon. Happy New year to you all Mr Booth 😊

After a walk around the nearby RSPB Fairburn Ings, this pub was a welcoming treat, the food was fantastic, with a good menu choice and cracking beer. Every member of staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend! The halloumi fries were delicious, the steak and ale pie was perfect, and the portion of fish and chips was very generous.

We had a lovely family meal in a wonderful atmosphere and friendly welcoming place.

Beautiful Sunday dinner. 7 of us went, 3 had triple meat plate 4single meat, 2 drinks each came to just short of £150 great value. 1 dinner was a glutton free option as daughter is coeliac. Gets quite busy, so you may have to wait sometimes, but well worth the wait. Nice outside area.

Not been to white horse for along time, but had sunday lunch last week. Still the high standards i remember. Lovely tasty food and pleasant freindly staff. Wont leave it so long next time.

Nice little pub, food tasted good but nothing special. Reasonably priced food and drink and a good selection on the menu. Portions are very generous though (perhaps a bit too big for some of us). Had a ploughman's which was on the specials. Really good but had to leave a lot of it as just too big. Son liked looking at the friendly chickens at the back of the car park. Hopefully they weren't the ones on the menu! Good car parking spaces but can imagine it getting busy on weekends, a midweek lunch for us was lovely and quiet.

I had a calzone which, to my surprise, was unexpectedly good. Obviously I can't compare it with an authentic one, but it is by far the best Italian food served in a restaurant in the UK. The place is lovely with a rustic look, a pleasant atmosphere and an very important aspect -Very Clean-.

Love the white horse, if its busy and all the tables are booked and you just want a drink the only place to sit was at the bar so be aware at busy times
