Always impeccable service and great food. We were super late for our reservation due to road closures but they were so accommodating (parade on Piccadilly) and allocated us a table later than planned. We love it here and find the atmosphere much more pleasant than the city branch.

Went there last week for lunch. It's a stunning restaurant with great atmosphere. Service was very nice and efficient however I was very disappointed in the food. I started with chicken soup which was completely tasteless! It was basically coloured water. I then had the roast chicken which was quite dry. I tried a bit of somwone else's food (fish) and it was very nice so maybe I just got a bit unlucky but considering the price I was expecting a lot better

This is my #1 most recommended high tea to experience while traveling to and through London! The space used to be a Rolls-Royce Dealership from our former century and the acoustics only add to that vibe! It's nice and loud and the dishwater alone are so very one of a kind that you want stop photographing. The Service here is of course impeccable and everything just comes together for that well rounded multi-coursed fun loud tea time! I suggest getting the package as it has unlimited Champagne! Enjoy this place - it's special! Cheers!

If I could give no stars, I would. The service is extremely poor. I used to love this place. Now they can 'madam/sir' you while offering you really bad service. No pepper/salt on the table. You can't even ask as the servers are actively avoiding you. Our omelette came without bread. We were not given an option. Also, for such a grand place, this is the least you could do

I'm reviewing The Wolseley restaurant here. Location: In Mayfair, on Piccadilly, next to the Ritz. That explains the prices. Service: Friendly. Ambiance: The highlight and the reason why you go here. Quality: Our afternoon tea was tasty, but the presentation wasn't outstanding. Prices: High, but we knew that. What is unacceptable is the 15% service charge added to the high prices. Conclusion: Overall very good, but a 15% surcharge is cheeky. If you find the review helpful, please click the “thumbs up” button.

The Wolseley Café is a fantastic spot for classic The Wolseley Café offers an outstanding dining experience that perfectly balances delicious food, luxurious ambiance, and impeccable service. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by an elegant interior that exudes timeless sophistication. The high ceilings, stunning chandeliers, and classic art deco design create a luxurious atmosphere that makes the visit feel special even before the first bite. The menu showcases the best of traditional English cuisine, and every dish we tried was prepared to perfection. From hearty classics to refined options, the flavors were rich, and the ingredients tasted fresh. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care goes into the preparation of the food. The service was another highlight. The staff were attentive, friendly, and professional without being overbearing. They were quick to accommodate requests and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. The Wolseley Café is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. Whether you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply indulge in excellent English food in a luxurious setting, it’s the perfect choice. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting London, as it’s truly a memorable spot that combines elegance, tradition, and culinary excellence.

Excellent experience! Our visit to this restaurant was simply wonderful. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and kindness, which set the tone for our evening. The staff were extremely friendly, discreet and always available for anything we needed. The food was simply wonderful! The flavors were well crafted, with thoughtful ingredients and fantastic presentation. We stood out [e.g. the salad with fresh vegetables, the fillet with handmade sauces, or the dessert of the day], which really excited us. The atmosphere of the venue was warm and inviting, with thoughtful decor and soft music that perfectly complemented the experience. We felt like we were in a really special place. AVOID. If you absolutely have to come because you’re perishing of hunger (and the only other place serving is the Ritz next door which is even more of a rip off), or if you’re being forced to patronise by social convention, then I would recommend just getting a coffee (and maybe a pastry if you’re feeling generous). I know no one comes to Wolseley for the food but I expected it to be at least decent. As low as my initial expectations were, the English breakfast (see photo) at £24.50 with one sausage and no toast is an absolute travesty and crime against modern civilisation in the present economy. It’s £3 to add 2 slices of toast. And it took more than 30 mins for the food to arrive, and not all at the same time for the table! Outrageous! @Wolseley I plead you please to set higher standards for yourselves. Don’t be a mug like me. If you come for the ambience, just get a coffee and a pastry and try not to spend more than £10 because you will leave feeling dissatisfied and angry like I did, even when it was someone’s treat!

The food was all good quality. I ordered the 3 course set meal and was happy with my French onion soup, soufflé suisse, and salted caramel eclair, the latter of which I found I liked much better than I expected. My mom also enjoyed her eggs benedict and crème brûlée, and my dad his sea bream. We were seated in the bar room, so it was rather loud and crowded as it half-served as a waiting room. We spent about $100 for 3 people. It was a good experience, but I didn’t think it was a must-visit and it didn’t blow me out of the water. The bathrooms were also only so-so.

I stopped by for breakfast the other day. As expected, the atmosphere was good, and even though I didn't make a reservation, the staff member greeted me with a smile when I entered. After that, I was taken to a room on the left, but I was disappointed in the way the staff there treated me. I made a mistake in my order and tried to correct it right away, but the clerk who asked me the question just sighed and acted blatantly displeased. After that, I received customer service from that person and another person who asked me to leave the store. I'm sorry that I made a mistake once, but I think it was too much. It was a shame because the food and tea were delicious and the atmosphere was great.

I have been going to Wolseley for several years as a resident and tourist when I lived abroad. I think it has been going downhill over the last few years. I brought my wife and kids, who had the eggs Benedict. It looked like it sat for a while before being served, as the Hollandaise was thick with a thin film and a bit cold. The Black Forest was a disappointing round cake made primarily from cream and cherries - not much to it. Service wasn't as good as it used to be. Waiters appear irritated when you ask them for something or help with the menu. I would still like it to be my go-to place in Green Park, but they must step up their game or end up as an overpriced tourist spot.

I came without a reservation, but the receptionist greeted me with a smile and kindly guided me around. However, it was only for a moment that I felt wonderful. I was guided to the middle seat on the left side of the entrance, and the tall man who served me there had a really bad attitude. I was irritated from beginning to end, and was confused between small and large, and just by asking the size, I took my frustration out on me. She had a good attitude when talking to other staff members, but it seemed like she was clearly having a bad attitude towards the customers. I felt very sick. Although the meal was delicious, I felt incredibly uncomfortable, so I left more than half of the meal I was looking forward to and left without drinking tea. There was another review from someone who was guided to a seat on the left side of the entrance and received similar customer service, so is there a rule for people sitting on the left side to behave in this way? Or maybe the same staff? I really don't recommend that seat. This was my worst memory of what happened in London. I'm very disappointed

Dear Sirs, Thank you for your response to my complaint. Firstly please accept my apologies for the poor English in my previous message, due to the fact that I used Google Translate. Unfortunately I have to say that I find your explanation unacceptable. This is due to the matter of the incorrect charge for wine on the first bill presented to me. Although you maintain that this was a human mistake, I feel that the use of the word “mistake” cannot be accurate. As I understand how your systems work, the table staff take the order and commit this to their mobile computer device. This, presumably, is logged on your central computer/server and the contents distributed to the areas involved e.g. Kitchen, wine delivery, table accounts etc. You will note that the wine ordered was the wine delivered to the table, thus following the course outlined above. Therefore for the wine charge on the bill to be substituted for a much more expensive one, albeit with a somewhat similar name, implies some human intervention in the process. When the first bill was queried, the waitress took it, without any comment, and very quickly returned with the amended one, again with no apology or any word. Once this was paid, she appeared reluctant to leave the bill with us. Additionally I would say that your reference to the amount being removed from the bill was not quite accurate. It was done but substituted by the correct amount of £80. I was, of course, quite happy to pay this. But your statement might be construed otherwise. In your reply you said that the incorrect amount was removed by your management. As this was to correct what should have been an obvious error, I fail to understand the involvement of Management and even less so your mention of this. Previously, I mentioned that I was not offered the chance to taste the wine before it was poured into all the glasses. For any wine of quality this is totally unacceptable. In this context I would add that I had to return a side dish of beans because the waiter concerned had his thumb significantly in the food when it was served. Finally I have to say that, as was known by your staff, our visit to your establishment was to celebrate the Silver Wedding of my mother and stepfather, who have been with you sometimes before. The above-mentioned situations unfortunately spoiled that evening for us. Yours faithfully, Peter Zakharov. Old Message "SIMPLY A SHAME!!! HERE YOU ARE SHIPPED AT AND IT IS PROBABLY ACCEPTABLE BY MANAGEMENT!!! It is a very nice ambience, the food is also great, everything tasted delicious. I also ordered a good wine to go with my good dinner. It is a shame that such a nice restaurant does not cultivate a wine culture. They did not let me taste my wine, but immediately felt ALL THE GLASSES!!! Also for the guests who drank other drinks! I went to this restaurant for the first time and thought that it could not get any worse. I was wrong! They then charged me for the MOST EXPENSIVE WINE on the menu, instead of the wine I ordered!!! The manager of this restaurant just said: sorry... In Munich in a restaurant of this rank, something like this is simply impossible!!! That is why I simply have to warn you: HERE YOU ARE SHIPPED AT AND IT IS PROBABLY ACCEPTABLE BY MANAGEMENT!!!"

The Wolseley, an elegant café-restaurant in London's Piccadilly, offers a quintessentially British dining experience that pays homage to its history as a former motor garage. The interior exudes a grand atmosphere, reminiscent of classic European brasseries, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Their Traditional English Breakfast is a highlight, featuring perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, premium sausages, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, and toast, all served with a side of black pudding. The portion is generous, embodying the essence of this beloved morning fare. Equally noteworthy is the Bubble and Squeak, a comforting dish made from leftover vegetables, particularly potatoes and cabbage, which is pan-fried to create a crispy exterior while retaining a soft, flavorful inside. The Wolseley elevates this classic dish, adding a touch of refinement. Overall, The Wolseley combines historical charm with exceptional British cuisine, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking a taste of traditional fare in an iconic setting.

[Revisit] I decided to visit London again 4 months later, and this restaurant was the first thing that came to my mind. I visited on December 24th, and I was grateful that they were open for business even during the holiday season (which is a tragedy for the employees), but I was told that there was a 30-minute wait around 4 p.m. I waited for about 25 minutes to get in 😌 This time I ordered cream tea and green tea. The scones were slightly warm and the tea was still fragrant and we had a wonderful time 😌 It was wonderful to see the tree-shaped decorations around the clock as Christmas decorations 🌲✨ This is the number one cafe I visited during my trip to England. With a very open space with high ceilings, a classic British interior, and lovely silver tableware, it's a wonderful experience that you won't find in Japan, and it's one of the restaurants you'll definitely want to visit again.

It’s disheartening how swiftly this establishment has lost its charm since its takeover. The old charm has almost vanished, replaced by a model that prioritises quantity over quality. Orders are frequently incorrect or require multiple corrections. The service is sloppy, and the food has lost its edge. Toast was stale, kippers too oily. Coffee lukewarm. I understand the intention behind expanding the ‘concept’ to locations like hotels and airports, where, in the absence of genuine choice, they are likely to be profitable for their owners. However, it’s deeply saddening to witness this decline and see a once venerated restaurant go the way of The Ivy. I’ve given it several chances since its new owners took over but this will be the last time I visit after many happy years.

This is a restaurant that I was told about by an acquaintance who lives in the UK. I wanted to have afternoon tea when I came to England. Due to time constraints, I had breakfast. The interior of the store has a chic art deco style. The chandelier is lovely. Reservations are required for breakfast and afternoon tea. Plenty of black tea in a silver pot, Probably because the water is hard, unlike in Japan, tannins remain even if you eat slowly. You can enjoy tea without overdoing it. I had a croissant and an egg dish. It's very delicious. From next month, Japanese tourists will also be required to obtain an ETA in the UK, but in the UK It was a beautiful and safe city that I would like to visit again. Next time for afternoon tea! ! !

Terrible customer service, very stand-offish staff. I tried booking for my birthday and ruined. 1. They don’t allow for cakes (which is fine these pretentious London restaurants often don’t) but they won’t even let you have a candle on dessert 2. The maitre d’ lady was really slow and stand-offish, she initially said she couldn’t find my booking and wanted me to bring up the email… (I really would have expected more) 3. They tried to seat us at a terrible entrance table at a corner next to the coat hangers knowing full well it’s a birthday celebration stated on the reservation. 4. We asked for a change of table. There was this super snobbish and camp Filippino waiter who literally said ‘what’s wrong with this one?’ And when my guest got annoyed he replied with ‘I can’t talk to you, you speak to the manager’. He was rude from the start, not sure who he thinks he is. I have noticed other reviews who have referred to him as an Asian man so clearly the issue lies with him. Terrible experience, we left, and found a restaurant with polite and attentive staff, proper tables and none of this pretentiousness. Sad, I had been looking forward to this.

Just had a really splendid all out birthday afternoon tea at the Wolseley (my Top Tip - eat as little as you can for 24 h beforehand to do full justice to this menu!). Some beautifully executed food, including a fantastic twist - their London Rarebit adds top quality bacon & soft yolked egg to the toasted cheesy sourdoughy magnificence of a Welsh Rarebit. Absolutely delicious. Plus one of the nicest hot chocolates I have ever had (and have done some extensive testing over my life!). Best of all was the beautiful service from our lovely waiter Ian. One of my dining out benchmarks is whether people pay attention when I ask for the really icy water I adore. Ian brought me my very own well laden silver ice bucket and tongs - superlative! A highly capable, nice and kind man, nothing too much trouble and almost everything already quietly provided before we even knew we wanted them. Also a very beautiful environment to dine in. Thanks for a wonderful birthday treat - we are already planning our return in the New Year!

The assortment of finger sandwiches is fresh and perfectly crafted, while the fruit scones, served warm with clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam, are simply divine. The selection of cakes delights with a variety of textures and flavors, and the extensive tea menu caters to every taste, from classic English Breakfast to unique options like Chocolate Tea and Jasmine Bud. With its stunning ambiance and attentive service, The Wolseley makes afternoon tea a truly memorable occasion—highly recommended!

I just wanted to shout out the charming professionalism of the older guy running the door at about 5pm yesterday. The place was packed with late lunchers/ afternoon tea goers and tourists and he very kindly found a table for myself and two guests from Australia who just had time for a cup of coffee somewhere 'fancy' and I thought, where better than the class of the Wolseley? He found us a lovely table for an hour which is all we needed, almost immediately and allowed us to complete our catch up sending us all home with a smile. Well played sir! I've worked in hospo for years and a lot of owners don't realise the importance of the head host for profitability and customer service, hence me doing a lot of door shifts over the years. They obviously do at The Wolseley, no doubt drilled in by Corbin and King over the years they owned it. Merry Xmas to you guys and keep up the good work. For all I know, it was the GM on the front desk, but either way he was a gangster.

Waited 1 hour for the 3 fishcakes…. Not sure if they trying to catch it from the river Thames outside. It is ridiculous. And charging 15% for the service but the whole time we are making eye contact with the staff trying to make sure somebody sees us. No next time

The place is very nice, but the service leaves a lot to be desired, the waiter is unfriendly. The food was quite good, nothing exceptional, except for the 40-pound entrecote that was brought peeled on the plate and accompanied with frozen fries (McDonalds quality). Incredible!! The delicious eclaires! We would not repeat 😐

We had a reservation for dinner at 9:45. We arrived at 9:55 and they said they were not accepting any other people. This is unacceptable. We were fully dressed for the occasion and ready to have a nice meal. The person working around reservations was rude. Seriously, if you accept reservations for 9:45 then let us come in. Waste of time really.

The scones and clotted cream I had for the first time were delicious. The other desserts were just so-so, so next time I go again, I'll order a simple menu lol. Or, I want to order something else. I ate this and then ate other scones and clotted, so I feel like it doesn't taste good.

Wolsey City is hands down one of the best breakfast spots I’ve ever visited! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service. The staff are incredibly attentive, friendly, and make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is simply stunning – modern yet cozy, with a design that makes every corner Instagram-worthy. It’s clear they’ve put a lot of thought into creating a space where people can relax and enjoy their meal. And let’s talk about the breakfast – absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. Whether you’re a fan of classics or looking for something unique, their menu has something for everyone. Thank you, Karolina and Michael, for making the experience so special. I can’t wait to come back!

With its insanely ornate interior (Art Deco style & some Art Nouveau remnants), the Wolseley is the closest thing to a Parisian or Viennese Grand Café in London. The building was originally opened in 1921 as an elegant showroom for Wolseley Motors, but was sold five years later to Barclays Bank, who operated it as a flagship branch until 1999. After a thorough restoration, the new owners opened this gastronomic pearl in the fall of 2003, which was a crowd-puller right next to the Ritz right from the start. The atmosphere is fantastic and I have always found the crew to be charming and quick. The good cuisine with its classics such as beef stroganoff, goulash, chicken schnitzel 'Holstein' or the typical desserts is also impressive. But the unique flair of the rooms with their magnificent lacquer and marble work stands above everything. Without a doubt worth a visit! 🏆

It's a very nice looking place and the staff were pretty good, but in short I felt the food was very underwhelming for the price. I know it's in an expensive area, but to be honest I felt like it was a bit of a rip off. I'm no stranger to a £200-300 bill for dinner in central, but this was totally not worth it - skip and go to one of the many great restaurants in London. We shared 1 beef tartar to start (was the only genuinely tasty thing), 2 mains, mashed potato and fries side, ~£15 glass of wine each and a beer each at the bar while we waited, it was £173. Minus tip that's about £100 for the food in the photos, it's just too high for what it is and to say I enjoyed it. My duck leg was something around the £30 mark, the skin was nice and crispy but that's all I can really say positive about it. Nothing bad, just nothing great, no sides and little flavour. Chicken schnitzel was nice and moist, but again nothing to write home about - for £20+ I expected something more.

Fantastic steak/frites and I only eat red meat once or twice a year. We were a small group and everyone enjoyed themselves. It can get a bit noisy, but it's all part of the atmosphere. Our waiter was very accommodating and patient with our disorganized ordering.

Gorgeous ! A real step back in time, to the 19th century, with the bellboy dressed all in black and his English hat, who opens the door for us. The male major who welcomes you at the entrance to take your name and/or your reservation and who indicates your presence to the waiters who come to greet you at the entrance to place you in one of the very chic rooms. I came for breakfast and so I tasted the porridge with apricot compote, the red fruit pancakes with English tea accompanied by fresh orange juice. Just Perfect! The eggs Benedict looked great but the dishes are so plentiful that unfortunately I didn't have any more room... The staff is generally friendly (a bit bossy but probably due to pressure). Tip: make a reservation. I recommend.

Will start by saying the food is ok for the price for the location. Had to squeeze 5 people onto a table suited for 4, a chair on the end made for uncomfortable seating and space all evening. We were given water for the table to start and waited nearly 20 minutes before we received our first and only drinks if the evening. Starters arrived 55 minutes after we were seated and ordered. 1 hour and 55 minutes after being seated, we asked how long our mains would be, while numerous tables around us were all waiting and one group left after waiting 30 minutes not to receive a drink. 2 hours and 10 mins and our mains had arrived, beef mains really lacking in beef. One of us ordered a side of potatoes to go with a sea bass, the potatoes arrives 15 minutes after the mains and after asking twice for them. At 8.40 some of us left to go catch a train home, leaving 2 others there to pay the bill, consistent with the rest of the meal, the bill was requested twice and finally paid. I have never known a basic menu take so long to serve and front of houses not speak while leaving a restaurant. Overall, nice food for price, just don't make any other plans for the evening as you make it.

Not enough seating side. Refused to turn on the heaters outside because the stock room is too messy to get to the switch. Ridiculous reason to not keep customers warm.

Tried ringing to make a reservation for Friday evening and the phone just rang out with no answerphone. Turned up at the restaurant and it was all shuttered up with no notice indicating prolonged Xmas holidays or anything. Presumed closed for business.

Huzzah.
