The Woodpecker Pub in Havant

Went for my birthday on a Sunday at 6pm, 3 of us had a roast dinner, sadly the roast potatoes were clearly cooked earlier in the day kept warm and were hard, same with carrots. Gravy was very watery. One of the party had burger & chips & enjoyed theirs. Apparently the beef was nice but my mushroom & spinach pie had soggy pasty. One had brownies for dessert and enjoyed it, 2 had crumble and it was ok, one had crème brûlée and enjoyed theirs. Pub had no barcardi to make a mojito which was disappointing I was refunded for the additional side plate of roast potatoes we had ordered. Haven’t been here for years and pub is looking a little tired. A shame. But staff pleasant and offered a refund as soon as I mentioned the potatoes were fairly inedible.

Had xmas dinner there xmas day . 14 of us in our party. Thanks to Jason and his team . The place was busy with loads of meals being served as well as people in for quick pint. Our meals were overall good but the carrots and sprouts were under cooked in our opinion. We enjoyed the event as a family and of course none of us were cooking or washing up this time. Well done the serving staff for getting food out still hot. Special thanks to elf and others who looked after us all. I apologise if I held them up while going to disabled loo with mu walking frame. I did say to them as we met up in narrow areas for them to keep going past me with more hot food. Get it out to tables hot 🔥 well done

Served by an employee who was cleary ill, coughing and sneezing around the food and drinks. Absolutely disgusting the management would allow someone to work in this condition.

Such a rude man who is the manager, no please, no thank you, no sorry, no smile. Don’t run a pub if you don’t like people. He is very lucky there is an established amount of customers who are local with no where else to go to. Don’t go here if you have another option.

Not good enough. I waited 50 minutes for three simple meals on December 17th. After waiting for 30 minutes, I was informed that one of the meals was unavailable and had to choose an alternative. The restaurant had customers but was not nearly full, and I wouldn't say it was busy. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing. The presentation was poor; the chips were overcooked on the outside and undercooked in the middle. The avocado and chicken wrap was messy, and the chicken and bacon were so chewy that we had to leave them. Overall, it was a very disappointing lunch and experience, certainly not worth the £35 we paid for it. What a shame.

Had lunch today at the Woodpecker Waterlooville lovely meal had the best Hunter's Chicken chnitzel I have vere tasted well worth a visit my wife had the Posh fish and chips Sea bass Filletts And enjoyed it there were 6 of us all had lovely meals if it was local to us would use it again

What more can I say. When I walk into the pub for our usual Wednesday meal. I'm instantly greeted by two bright smiles from two amazing servers Jade and Nicki. Even when you're having a bad day, Jade and Nicki can brighten up your day. Love the atmosphere they create and always look forward to eating and chatting away to both of them during our stay. Frist time we all ways Gon past it so we went on a date night nice pub lots of drinks to choose from I had a mix grill my wife had steak ask for medium it came out well done thats the only thing really the staff are a credit to the place I hope they I appreciated by the bosses we definitely will be back with are frends next week

Lovely roast dinner today. Beef was extremely tender and potatoes and vegetables cooked to perfection. Crumble was delicious and the chocolate sponge with the orange centre was lush. Friendly staff and great service. We have never been disappointed with any meals that we have eaten here. 😁

Hello… I just wanted to say how lovely the roast rib dinner was today. The whole meal was a joy. Most unexpected due to the standard of Sunday lunch I usually find. Service with a smile too. Not so sure about the decor tho… needs a refurb I think! Thank you to the team.

We used to go a lot to the woodpecker but feel that the whole service has slipped. Twice we’ve been in recently. In the first time we wanted food but because they’d been busy with take outs they had nothing left for their patrons coming in to eat. We went somewhere else. Then a couple of days ago I visited again with my daughter. Our food was brought out but my daughters was not what she’d ordered. So they took it away and I just got on with mine alone. Then 20 mins later they brought out my daughters and she ended up eating hers alone. I made a gentle comment to the server but she just laughed awkwardly and walked away. Probably won’t be back any time soon.

The food wasn't cheap but the Sunday roast was abysmal. Rock hard potatoes, the staff couldn't care less and decided as I wanted to swap red cabbage for cauliflower cheese, this would cost me a side dish. I declined but ended up with the red cabbage taken off my plate. It took nearly 50 minutes to get food despite it being half empty. A huge disappointment.

- So rude and aragont - We asked for some spoons for our pudding and they rolled there eyes and stormed off - Too busy having a catch up - asked for plain ice cream and had sauce on when we sent it back they huffed and puffed - Not worth the money - do you not recommend - food was ok

Absolutely disgusting roast all clearly frozen, chicken totally dried out, gammon was absolute filth, was actually making me gag. Worse food I've ever been served. Waitress was extremely apologetic and gave us a discount. But avoid if you like decent food, you won't find it here.

Food was very varied and reasonably priced. Very noisy, also people kept going out through the fire door, then propping it open, so drafty.

Great place to have a few drinks with colleagues after a hard days work (was needed) we had a few starters to enjoy alongside. Atmosphere was nice, food didnt take too long to arrive. Staff were really chatty and friendly, one particular person we could even remember there name was we believe Lisa? She was very friendly and really good at her job! Couldnt recommend highly enough definitely be back.

It was suppose to be a lovely lunch treat for my parents however the food was average and the service lacking. My mom had the Sunday roast combo of gammon & roast chicken, the chicken was overcooked and she didn't eat it (we took it home for the dog). My dad, a light eater, had a sticky crispy chicken starter, was supposed to be in a chilli relish, tasted like it had been cooked in strawberry jam, and was over cooked and tough. I had two starters, as there was very limited vegetarian/vegan options. The falafel balls, weren't that great, and burnt on the one side, the tomato/red pepper soup was bland, lacked flavour. All in all the service was somewhat lacking, soup arrived without a spoon, quite something to get someone's attention to get a spoon. The the young girl "serving" was not trained, started clearing all the plates whilst my father was still eating, when I asked her not to as he was eating, she disappeared and didn't come back again, until after sitting for sometime with empty plates, I had to wave vigorously to get her attention while she chatted at the bar, with no awareness for tables around her. Quite disappointing.

Came here after noticing almost every other pub fail to have a kitchen open post 4pm on a Sunday. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Greeted with a smile, quick and friendly service , and tasty food. Prices weren’t bad either!

Really gone down hill staff had a face like a slapped arse , haddock chips and pt shandy £17.50 had zero taste to it should of just gone to the chippy ,

We booked a table for a family dinner. When we arrived we were given menus and pointed to our table. Had to ask which table as it wasn't clear. Decided to try the online ordering and found half of the menu was 'out of stock'. Checked at the bar and they said they hadn't got a delivery. So why give us menus and leave us to find out? We left. Shocking service, not at all welcoming. Won't be back.

**Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience** I recently visited The Woodpecker Pub with my partner's family, including young children, hoping for a pleasant evening out. Unfortunately, what we experienced was anything but. To my utter shock and embarrassment, we were abruptly ejected from the premises, not for any misbehavior or disturbance on our part, but simply because I happen to be the brother of the landlord's ex-boyfriend. Despite the fact that I have no contact with my brother, the landlord made it clear that his personal grudge against my brother was enough reason to kick us out. When I tried to understand the reason for this treatment, the landlord bluntly told me that it was his pub, and he could do what he likes. This level of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable, especially in a place that advertises itself as a family-friendly establishment. Being treated so unfairly, especially in front of my partner's family and young children, was humiliating and ruined what should have been a lovely evening. I would strongly advise anyone considering a visit to The Woodpecker Pub to think twice, as you never know when you might be singled out and subjected to such disgraceful behavior. This was an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. Avoid this place at all costs.

Food arrived quickly, was well presented, and very tasty. Huge selection of drinks to choose from and the vegan cheesecake desert was delicious 😋 Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Pub is VERY dog friendly, with treats and drinks provided.

We met friends for dinner, meal was lovely and cooked well. Disappointed that Captain Morgan Spiced rum has been removed from the pub because we drink this brand. Jason could be a bit less moody.

not sure were my food has been as I live 1/2 a mile away from restaurant and the food is stone cold not even warm I know the restaurant well and they do not make cold food and some things can be eaten cold but cheeseburger and chip is not one of them

Average pub serving average food. It's not bad, yet misses that little bit of care that would make the difference, in both food and service. Very convenient option to order via app. Having been twice in consecutive days, the same dish was presented very differently in each occasion: what was naan bread on one day, became a crispy, unidentified object the following day, and pilau rice turned into saffron rice. Large private car park.

Came here today with my friend who is vegetarian for Sunday roast.Arrived in good time dinner booked for 1pm name on table near window observered menu only to find only had vegetarian Wellington which she refused to order then proceeded with my order I had chicken food arrived but vegetables hardly any and gravy so thin like water also ordered cauliflower cheese which came separate from meal.
