Tiffin Box in Hackney

Being Indian and used to eating and cooking 'our' food, and coming from the Asian Community in West London (where there is a multitude of brilliant Indian/Pakistani restaurants to make the comparison) the Tiffin Box is the only place I go to eat Indian food in Newmarket, Cambridge and the surrounding area....I would 100% say that it easily surpasses ALL the 'Indian/Bengali' restaurants locally , in Bury St Edmonds and even pretty much everyone in Cambridge, too. I would absolutely take family and friends there for an authentic curry. Yes, granted: from the outside (and inside) it doesn't look up to much...but do not let this put you off. There are no white tablecloths, no expensive tables, chairs cutlery or glasses...I don't even think they serve beer or wine.....however....the food is absolutely worth the visit...and...it's not expensive. It is 'tucked away' just off the High Street, but in the evening: parking is free. I have eaten there several times, and it have never disappointed. If you're on a'date' or you want fancy tablecloths, flock wallpaper, soft lights, Indian music in the background, waiters wearing black trousers and white shirts, an alcoholic drink/beer, an overpriced wine list, and poor tasting food: go to any number of 'Indian' restaurants (or takeaways)...I won't be. If you want proper tasting Indian food: go to The Tiffin Box: I will be.

Tiffin box delivered some superb food, great sauce, perfect spicing, generous portions at a decent price. Would definitely go back for the coconut rice alone. Yum.

Got a Too Good To Go box from Tiffin Box and it was great! Very very tasty and the gentleman who sorted out the bag for us was really friendly.

I’ve been using this place for years They produce healthy tasty top rate Indian food freshly cooked If you go along you can see your meal prepared through a glass window There is another Tiffin named restaurant that is used by Deliveroo that is not a patch on this place I especially recommend the Thalias - veggie and meat If I’m dining alone I usually have enough over for breakfast ( Savoury breakfasts are good for you!) and the real test is it tastes just as good the following morning

En primer lugar, si estás a pie, solo se lleva efectivo. Vamos, muchachos, estamos en una sociedad sin efectivo, actúen juntos. Al llegar puedes ver a los cocineros preparando tu comida. Eso es bueno. Juzgo por el pollo tikka massala. Cuando lo abrí pensé que me habían dado el plato equivocado. Era una bandeja llena de salsa acuosa que parecía haber salido de un frasco. Encontré trozos de pollo en ella, después de hurgar un poco. Sabía bien, pero horrible, horrible presentación. Los chapatis también eran demasiado gruesos, haciéndolos masticables y no un vehículo agradable para llenarse de comida india. Entonces, una mala experiencia y una mala comida.

I ordered a lamb tikka jalfrezi from this shop and the meat was uncooked and very very hard. I called the shop to tell them about the food. On recieving my call the man who i spoke to was very rude and unhelpful. He was telling me how the lamb tikka jalfrezi is always very chewy and i explained to him that its not chewy its uncooked. He started shouting at me and put the phone down at me. Very bad customer service and untasty food. If you want to save yourself from falling ill then please dont order food from this place as you will be served raw meat covered in gravy.

Watery, bland sauce coated the tiny flavourless prawns and huge chunks of undercooked onion. No other veg or spices. Just a huge dollop of chilli powder in the water sauce. An amazing blend of hot and empty. Save yourself some money and buy your curry anywhere else but here. Also slow to deliver.

Having used the same Indian takeaway for the past several years we decided to try somewhere new as our local was fluctuating in quality. The chap taking our order was friendly and very helpful as I asked a few specific questions over the phone. The food was delicious. Really fresh and clean (non-oily) - we ordered several dishes and I can honestly say that the reviews on JustEat (where it's rated 5/6) were justified. If you simply want to eat really tasty Indian food that doesn't clog your arteries (and even tastes great the following day) then order from here. If you want to listen to some joker complain about their delivery technique because his properties gate was not working then you're a fool! Food is great..simple!

Food OK but home delivery service very poor. Some necessary background: we had had a temporary problem which intermittently prevented us from opening the gate into our development. The delivery man had experienced this a couple of times before over the previous few weeks. This fault had been fixed but there had then been an accident which caused half the gate to be removed temporarily. However, the other half was now working fine so there was now no problem letting anyone in. Unfortunately, the driver refused to try ringing through to us to open the gate, insisting one of us met him there instead. Ironically, he then got through the gate (someone else must have opened it) and drove round to our block. When we challenged him about not trying to ring from the gate, he was rude and aggressive, loudly dismissing what we said, saying the gate never worked and actually stating that he'd kicked it! We then called Tiffin Box to complain and received a perfunctory apology and a promise that the manager would call back when he was next in, supposedly later that evening. Two days on we've heard nothing. Avoid this place!

Food never arrived despite saying arrived on justeat.com. Extremely disappointed and would never order again.

Authentic tasty indian food to take away, prepared and served by friendly staff. Very reasonably priced excellent meal (I had Chicken Madras with Pilau Rice)

Food was just a bit meh, the poppadoms where stale (hadn't been cooked long enough) and the chick Tika masala was poor quality. Second time of trying this place and I won't be coming back.

I enjoyed the pilau rice but thought the chicken in the Jalfrezia dish was undercooked, it was tough to chew. Also wasn't as spicy or full of flavour as I thought it would, I've had tastier indian dishes in the past. Overall not bad for a first time trying out this restaurant, would order from them again.

Tiffin Box is the mutts nuts. Best Indian in london by far. Fast delivery, polite staff and the food is off the hook. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion but if you don't like tiffin box you are wrong. Brilliant. I forgot to get by loyalty card stamped can I have two next time? Cheers.

Well I've ordered from Tiffin before and I liked the food but I am not impressed this time. The food was swimming in oil and pretty tasteless .

Not a good curry, worsed i've had in a while. Ingredients tasted cheap and not fresh, certain parts of dishes to tasted artificial. Ordered a vegetable side and it was laced with a sauce that was unedible... I threw most of it away.

Arrived very late and wasn't that warm on arrival - but was delicious and very good value for money!!

The Madras was textbook, lovely stuff! The delivery driver was a fantastic man he really was came back after two minutes with a can of Coke like that "Christ almost forgot your drink!" Could have just sacked it off and left it but he didn't a touch of class.

We ordered Lamb and were delivered a chicken biryani. The chicken biryani was incredibly dry. Curry itself was very oily.

Food arrived just within the 60 minutes maximum waiting time we were given. The food all arrived hot, and everything we ordered was very tasty. Each curry looked, smelt and tasted different, which I think it's a sign of a good curry house. Well definitely use again

Had tiffin before and was good but the quality was really off tonight. Food lacked flavour and the meat was dry/over cooked.

The food was late and although the guy I spoke to was apologetic when I called, it was disappointing. The quality of the food wasn't great at all and quite oily.

I love this place, I have my favourite dishes, and the standard of food is really great and more importantly it's consistently good. Would definitely recommend for a good indian take away meal.

Very generously-sized and delicious paneer pieces. They could do with being slightly smaller though. The pasanda sauce was nice but felt it could have been a little tastier. Overall good :)

Ate from here about 3 months ago. The good and delivery was 5 star. This time it was like eating curry from a jar. Either sort the chef out or stop freeZing your curries. It's destroying the flavour. Chicken was dry and about a week over cooked. Really sad to see such a change.

I thought the dishes were a bit bland to be brutally honest, but it wasn't overly greasy and that's always a bonus. The delivery chap was very pleasant and the food arrived hot, so no complaints on that front. I'd probably use again but probably won't be my first choice.

Second time I have ordered from here in a short time and won't be the last. My wife isn't usually that keen on this type of cuisine but she commented on how nice it was. Delivered promptly and with a smile again which us always nice. Give it a try you won't be disappointed :)
