We waited for well over an hour for our delivery- it arrived and I can honestly say we binned 60% of it! My friends katsu curry was like slop, the rice was dry and the chicken wasn’t fried as usual but mixed with a weird watery paste like sauce and then my ramen had a weird smell to it, zero flavour at all (I even added soya sauce and salt from my kitchen) and arrived in a weird make your own packaging. Honestly was the worst take away I’ve ever had & we were so disappointed- if I wasn’t so upset & tired I would’ve demanded a refund!

I love the cucumber Maki and the chicken. I always enjoy myself in this restaurant. They have a nice fish pond with real fish.

Terrible. Ordered on Uber eats. No liquid in ramen. Hot maki. Warm drinks. Stodgy katsu. No taste at all. Truly terrible. 2 hrs wait.

¡No pida fideos adicionales!)

Ordered via deliveroo on Friday 19/06/20. This was not a good experience, with the quality of the food not being great. The Sushi was not fresh, with the sashimi not tasting as it should, especially the salmon. The nigiri included wasabi, which I suspect was included to mask the taste of the fish. The only positive which was the food order at 6 pm, was delivered by 7 pm as expected. Needless to say if the food isn't good, delivery time is inconsequential.

My order never arrived. After 2 hours of phoning I finally recieved a call at almost 10pm to say that the food was late. No apologies. I cancelled my order but have been charged and have to apply for a refund. Absolute joke . I will never ever order from here again

I ordered a delivery take away for the 1st time having driven past the impressive looking restaurant on several occasions. We ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry and a Sea Food Ramen. The Curry was ok but didn't taste fresh. The Sea Food Ramen was terrible, definitely not fresh, egg had turned brown, noodles were stuck together in great chunks after a coupe of bites it went straight into the bin. I could understand if we ordered on a monday and got leftovers form the weekend but not acceptable for a Saturday. I love Japanese food but you've lost a potential regular customer. Such a shame

This is such a hidden little gem in lewisham. If you are visiting London, probably no worth coming all the way to lewisham just for it, but if you live in the area, you cannot miss it. Highly recommended. 100% Japanese, it’s very authentic.

I've been a couple of times now to Toro Ramen. If you know Lewisham it is pretty much opposite Bento, on the Lidl side of the road. I was really impressed with their ramen and sushi. I am a huge ramen fan, and Toro's ramen is as good as anything in central london, with perhaps the exception of Kanada-Ya. If you're local or in the area, I would definitely recommend dropping in. They deserve to do well.

We have waited too long to write a review for our most favorite place in London. And no, we are not in the so called new age "food critics" category, whatever that meand. If you're expecting high end service and a katana wielding lesson, this is not the place for you. We are also not "authentic Japanese food experts", as some gleefully label themselves, we just like the restaurant, top to bottom, authentic or not. Service can be slow at times, as it can be experienced IN ANY OTHER RESTAURANT ON THE PLANET, but if you're not going there after a starvation diet or during peak times, it should be fine. Consider that it is a family business and three, four people are usually doing everything, from cooking to serving and cleaning. We often take our own empty plates back or we even clear our own table, as to give them a hand (now the restaurant aficionados are going to have a mild stroke upon hearing this) but that, for us, is part of the charm of the place. Food wise, we have never been disappointed, I mean NEVER, and the price per quality and quantity can't be beaten in London. We are two average people and we never seem to pass over the 25 pounds bill, for both of us. That's literally the cheapest dinners we ever had in London. Since we've been going there for one year and a half we've got to know the staff and they've gotten to know us and we've always been understanding of the serving times or possible mishaps. So, my advice is to go there with an open mind and decent appetite and if you're planning to visit the restaurant at peak times, be ready to wait a bit for your food. And stop whining about everything. 2024 UPDATE: Sapporo has lost nothing of its charm, despite others trying to squeeze it out of Catford (yes, Taro, I am looking at you!). We moved to East London a few months ago but Sapporo still remains our go-to sushi spot in London, and always worth the long trip!
