VICEROY in North Dorset

A super find! We stumbled across this restaurant tonight, and it was such a great surprise. My husband, girls, and I had a slap up meal for 4, including delicious sides and drinks. The food was on point. They have a varied and interesting menu - plenty of choice. Everything arrived hot and tasted wonderful - aromatic, richly flavoured, and clearly made with love. The portions were generous, so we ended up taking the leftovers home for tomorrow’s lunches. Great service, and value for money. Thanks for having us - we will be back!

Had to wait 2hours for delivery ,food cold,not recommended delivery option second time this has happened,,customer service is very poor they have phone number why not ring and advise delay

I have been ordering takeaway delivery from viceroy for the last two years and it has always been very good however the last two takeaway delivery has been poor. My more recent delivery had taken just over two hours to get to my home address I was promised some extras with my extremely late delivery but received nothing extra. As a result I will no longer order anything from viceroy Gillingham Dorset. My previous delivery had taken nearly two hours to be delivered also 👎

Such a lovely restaurant with the kindest staff! Stayed open late just for us to get a last minute meal after work - so incredibly appreciative for this! Delicious food, would definitely recommend- Thank you!

I took this top tip from a friend to always go with Chef specials instead of always getting he same dish in every Indian. Tonight was over and above. I had SIKANDAR BADI LAMB and It was amazing. Its on the bone and Ive never seen lamb meat fall off the bone like this despite trying to do it myself on a Sunday for the past 35 years. This dish was wonderful. We shared a prawn dish, some other sides etc. everything was great (as always - 5th time of ordering) but please try this dish. Its mild but spicy. Its was perfect.

Not open on a Monday please change this as waited in the cold trying to ring as no opening times by the entrance and no voicenote to say its not open. had to find out through Facebook.

Fantastic takeaway. Fresh, well spiced chicken, served on the bone too. Delivered hot and within the times advised at order. Order was Murgh masala Saag paneer Garlic rice Recommended, will be back for more!

Have only ever had takeaways from here but is always delicious. We always return, great value for money, great portion sizes, deliciously made. Our favourite Indian takeaway in the local area!

Unfortunately a drink was broken in the bag this wasn't replaced or even the liquid emptied out of the bag just the glass taken out so it was clear the driver knew. Nothing was said. The entire meal was cold. Very disappointed. Extremely poor customer service for such high prices

It was ok , the meat didn't taste fresh ( apart from the chicken , which seemed OK ) The portions were actually quite decent , so nothing to complain on that. The waiter , probably the owner seemed to try too hard to oversell , either drinks or sides. The place was empty, mostly takeaways were coming out of the kitchen. Bathroom could definitely use a refurb . Spent 60 pounds on 2 starters, 2 mains , 4 poppadoms, 2 drinks and a coffee , which is fairly decent , I guess

Very flavoursome food and delivered so quickly. The delivery driver was incredibly chatty and polite. Overall lovely service, fairly price and delicious food.

Really nice people at this restaurant - they waited a bit after closing to hand us our meal for pickup. Food was delicious, prices reasonable. Will go again.

we get this delivered all the time! the food is amazing, however one time, it was 30 minutes late but every other time it has been quick delivery.

We've ordered several times from this restaurant and it's hit and miss. Today was beyond a miss, we ordered the "butterfly King prawn" appetiser thinking that for the price of £7 you could expect a few prawns to share. Needless to say we received 1 battered cold bland prawn. (After an hour and a half long wait) Outrageous don't waste your time and money.

I eat at this place a few weeks back and overheard this conversation with young staff, working there, very rude, unnecessary language, treated the poor girl like a slave, wouldn’t recommend coming here, just for this reason itself, let alone the lack of hygiene and time it takes for your food to get out which isn’t even worth it, costs are way too overpriced for what you get. It’s disgusting.

Absolutely filthy in the kitchens and dirty!!! Waited over 2 hours for us to have just warm food. The bloke was very rude and barely spoke any sense to us. Huge disappointment and food was shocking and even other warned us as wel left 🤦‍♂️

Great menu choices, really good food. Wish it were a little warmer. Noise of extractor fan coming on occasionally was very very loud. Nice decor

We booked this place on the recommendation of a friend. But the atmosphere was terrible. The head waiter was arguing with a guy at the desk because he had made the order for a take away at the wrong restaurant. Then the phone was ringing the whole time for takeaways. The kitchen is in the dining area and its very noisy. Finally a driver in a old jacket delivered a menu. But nobody was taking orders, even for drinks or poppadom. So we left, the only other people at the place, who had been around for ten minutes longer, than we had waited, then left with us. The web site seems to be a copy of the similar named restaurant in Devon, making reference in the description to the other location.

I had the Tandoori mixed grill and my husband had lamb and both were cooked to perfection and were delicious, also the delivery was exactly on time.

Service took very long but curry was good.

Awful went with family, the restaurant was completely empty, we waited for about 45-50 mins for our food. Ended up walking out not recommended

Great meal very friendly staff, meal ready when the estimate said, had the phal going for the hottest thing on the menu had both heat and flavour will definitely try something different next time, had bhaji and samosas to start a new business at this time local businesses need all the help they can get. Had another meal still great quality the rest of my family satisfied with their meals had a jalfrezzi would recommend

6 of us went for dinner at Viceroy. The service was really good. I had the tandoori king prawn korahi and the sauce was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The meal was full of flavour meat was moist and tender a large portion the rice was very good lots of it and a very nice naan bread The only thing for me was NO bombay potatoes or onion bhaji's were added as advertised so we were disapointed with this Hence only 4 stars

We were visiting friends and had one of the best takeaways I've ever had (lamb and chickpeas). We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and can't wait to come back to Gillingham to try the rest of the menu.

I have had a takeaway & eaten at the restaurant now & on both occasions the food was fantastic . These guys have won national awards at their yeovil restaurant & it's clear why . Generous amounts of meat & wonderful flavours make their curries outstanding . They are very friendly & welcoming , after i asked the manager to send our compliments to the chef he came out to meet us & chat . I found a new favourite Pathia curry with fruit & nut rice & an elusive old favourite King cobra beer in their fridge which I haven't seen in years & is one of the finest lagers money can buy . This restaurant is tucked away down a side street so I hope it gets noticed & gets the recognition it deserves , it was worryingly quiet both times I went & I really can't imagine why as it truly is amongst the best Indian food I have ever had . I hope you'll take your taste buds out for a well deserved treat .

I recently had a takeaway for my wife and I. Pleasant greeting, delicious food, Chicken Tikka Passander and Lamb Korahi plus sides. Going back soon. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience

Great food & seems like a nice place

Very helpful and friendly. There were seven of us and some of us were gluten free. They were very good at providing us with information and have SOOO many options for both groups. Also, they gave us extra onion bhajis and mango chutney (which was the best with papodoms!!!) They also were so kind as to insist on carrying our order to our car. Overall, a great experience with wonderful food and amazing service. Highly recommend ViceRoy indian, Gillingham!!!!!!!

Delivery service is terrible! They have never delivered on time even once and last time were 45 minutes late with our order.

Absolutely delicious meal last night, but unfortunately a rice was missing. Also the delivery driver had difficulty locating our house as the restaurant hadn't given her the instructions for finding it.

Excellent service amazing fresh flavours and we were made to feel right at home. We will be back.

First time of visiting Viceroy and it was absolutely superb! Bombay potatoes were some of the best we have ever had, it was hot, it was fresh and the flavours were great. We had a takeaway but excited to try the restaurant as the set-up looked great and I liked the fact you can see the chef's cooking in the kitchen. A++

Eaten in here a couple of times now. Service very friendly and welcoming. Food was very good, I am vegetarian and they were hugely accommodating and made me some delicious food. Will be returning next time I am back in Gillingham... Setting is nice inside, good interior etc etc ...

Great food, friendly staff. Particularly enjoyed the chicken dansak (just the right amount of heat) and brinjal bhaji (nice smokey flavour). We will definitely be going back.

Went out with friends, six of us, none of us had eaten there before, the service was terrible and very slow, we started with popadoms, then we all had starters one came out, then another 5 minutes later, when our meals arrived it was slow and eventually we all got we ordered, the portions were ok but the quality of the food was very poor,the waiter who served us had terrible body odour, I went to the toilets and couldn't believe it, they were disgusting the worst I've ever been in, you had to walk past the kitchen and there was dirty plates piled up on a chest freezer and cooking oil on the floor, do yourself a favour, go somewhere else, there also very expensive...

Disappointing meal tonight. Chicken Pasanda had overcooked chicken. Lamb dish slightly better but still not great. Naan tough and didn't taste fresh. Overall lack of seasoning on all dishes, bland and watery.
