Viceroy Tandoori in Birmingham

We were a group of 4 friends who visited on 02/01/25 for Dinner. The service was excellent - they have been under new management for the last 3 months and they are all from Nepal . For Starters - we had Jhinga Garlic ( made with prawns - liked this so much that we reordered ) , Nazakat , Shami Kebab , Tandoori Lamb , Masala Mass and Sea Bass Biran . All of the starters were cooked to perfection - that is a huge compliment considering we are all from the Indian Subcontinent and cook at home !! Spice levels can be adjusted as per request. For Mains - we had Murogh Jhalbhaja , Jaypuri Lamb , Tandoori Chicken Masala and Lassani Maas - again very good - portion sizes for Mains are generous. This is in Jewellery Quarter so parking is available in the roads around the restaurant. We requested them to serve some authentic Nepalese dishes like Gorkhali Lamb , Thukpa and Momos and will return to try these. We had a lovely evening - Thank You to all the staff.

Absolutely superb food and service. We had poppadoms with delicious pickles followed by beef rezala and nawabi bhuna lamb with mushroom pilau rice and a peshwari naan. The restaurant serves a range of alcoholic and soft drinks including non-alcoholic beer. The food was reasonably priced and top notch quality, prepared by family chefs who could be viewed through a glass panel. Front of house is efficiently managed by "The Boss" and Rohit, who provided friendly, attentive and charming service. Highly recommended. This is our first visit to Birmingham; what an encouraging start to our holiday!

Had a meal here while our kids were seeing Sam Fender at a nearby arena. The food was absolutely superb! The service and staff were excellent, and this had to be the best decorated, and cleanest, tandoori restaurant I have eaten in. Had a good conversation with the staff in this family run restaurant and they were very proud of their resturant, rightly so!

Lovely food, we ate early and were hungry so maybe ordered too much. It was all good though. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, quiet but with background music. Nice and clean and warm.

The experience in the restaurant has been very good, from the treatment to the cleanliness of the restaurant, and it should be noted that the food is delicious and at a very good price compared to other Indian restaurants. I recommend it without a doubt.

Food and service both excellent. 4 stars for atmosphere, mostly because it was very quiet (it was a Tuesday evening) and a bit lacking in ambience. Recommended.

Probably the best Indian food I've had. Enjoyed everything we ordered, delicious food, well presented, and they were decent sized portions as well. Only place I've ever had mackerel samosa (they were delicious as a starter and I'd definitely have them again). Staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive, and it was a nice atmosphere all around. Not the cheapest, but worth it for the quality.

Always good here. Excellent service and food on our last visit. Highly recommended, even more so if you use the First Table app.

Exceptional customer service alongside a great atmosphere. The staff managed to accommodate an additional member to our 11 person group without issue. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

This is the best curry we have ever had. The food is clearly cooked with fresh ingredients, not to much oil and with exceptional flavours. Service is incredible and great value for money. If you are in the area you have to go. It’s incredible!

We chanced on this place and couldn't believe how good it is. We had veggie starter which was amazing, then a chicken and a lamb dish with naan. All beautiful, washed down with fresh mango lassi- sensational! Thank you

What a fantastic spot! Great customer service, cosy and comfortable space and a delicious curry! What’s even more incredible is one of my friends and I weren’t sure what to pick off of the menu and so the chef made us a BESPOKE curry tailored to our flavour preferences! Another delicious meal, we went pescatarian tonight with two king prawn starters and two fish curries. Friendly service, warm welcome and incredibly tasty food in a nice setting. What a delicious meal in a really nice, bright, sparklingly clean setting. We came here Thursday night around 6pm and had a very warm and friendly greeting from the owner. The menu was very interesting, lots of Bangladeshi dishes and more traditional curries. We enjoyed chicken chaat puree and lamb chop starters. The lamb was utterly sublime, melt in the mouth, delicious marinade. The chicken chaat was very generous and really fresh. The condiments (yogurt mint and mango chutney) were also delicious. Definitely homemade and really high quality. For mains, my OH had chicken shashlik and I had a medium hot chicken tikka bhuna. The heat level was perfect, just enough fresh green chilli to give a kick whilst still being able to taste the spices. We shared a rice and peshwari naan. The interior is modern, really nice large tables, spotlessly clean, sparkling cutlery, tableware. The owner was attentive and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will be returning next week! Yum! Thank you!

Giving these guys an absolute thumbs up again. We had two nights straight at theirs this Wk, wouldn’t normally go all out, but had to go the extra mile when two further colleagues joined us & asked if they could try it. We used to live close by to the restaurant and used to order all the time, even now that we moved we tried dining in and it did not disappoint! Food is 10/10, the best in west Midlands by far, it's fine dining but at reasonable prices. Will be visiting again soon!

We ordered onion bhaji and Bombay Aloo Chat to start and “Old School” and King Prawn cooked in the Tandoor oven - a dry dish - to follow with a plain naan bread and coconut rice. All fab as usual. As usual fantastic food and service. Attentive staff. Raced to replace the knife I accidentally dropped on the floor. Lovely and clean interior and kitchen and the food is always beautifully spiced and flavourful. And you can't beat a proper tandoor! Highly recommend and will always visit when I can. Brilliant.

The Viceroy was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. The food and service was exemplary. To hone in on the food, you must try the onion bhajee which is the best I’ve tasted! There was not a dish we didn’t enjoy and the flavours were fantastic in each dish. Keep doing what you’re doing. And thanks for a great evening!!!!

Had a great meal at the Viceroy. Had not been there before and chose it based on previous reviews and the menu. I wasn’t disappointed. Both the range and quality of food was excellent and when combined with really good service it made for a very enjoyable evening. Definitely recommended and a restaurant I will look to visit again.

Very bright, airy, contemporary decor. Excellent service with attention to detail. Our host explained the heat and spice ‘level’ of each dish. The food did not disappoint. Would recommend the vegetable pancake starter and the king prawn rogan. My companion had the bhuna and puree, with delicious shrimp to start. The chicken dhansak was excellent, with succulent, tender chicken. Highly recommend.

The service here is great and the food was ok. We got take away. The food here seems to be engineered for the Brits. So if you are a Brit looking to get into Indian food then this a great place.

Viceroy Tandori is a first-rate restaurant with an excellent menu choice, service and quality of food delivered. Spotlessly clean and comfortable and with prompt (but not pressured) and friendly service. Do try the Nan bread-it is the tastiest I've ever eaten. Whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic food, friendly staff, and comfortable atmosphere. There was so much to pick from the menu, that we ended up going for the three course meal so we could sample as much as possible. It was more than enough food that we ended up getting a box to take the rest home. Hopefully we can come back soon!

Amazing curry at @viceroy_jq tonight. Loved the Lamb Sheek Gilaf, the addition of the touch of pomegranate was brilliant, really cut through the richness of the lamb. The Jaypuri Lamb was everything a curry should be, packed full of spice without sacrificing flavour. Oh and the garlic naan was bangin' Cant recommend highly enough, if you're in Birmingham make sure you look this place up!

One of our top favourite restaurants in the area. The service is always fantastic and the food that follows is also exceptional. If you’re on the search for an amazing curry then look no further!

First time going here definitely be back..,, Staff are very friendly and very attentive. Nice modern decor. Now the food wow amazing best currie I’ve had in years!!! I had chicken korai the chicken was so succulent definitely recommend if you like medium dishes. The wife had king prawn rogan josh omg!! The prawns were massive!!! Oh one thing I must not forget the mint sauce is probably the best I’ve ever had!!! Will be going back soon!!!

We had a beautiful meal at Viceroy. The service was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We were a party of 5 including my 8 year old granddaughter. We could not fault anything to be honest and will definitely be visiting again very soon.

We visited the Viceroy over a business meal its absolutely amazing restaurant the staff were fantastic and the fresh food was gorgeous will definitely be going again all the best from Paul from Leeds.

Had a great dinner here, the menu is extensive and much more interesting compared to an ordinary curry house. I had some seafood curry and loved it - different types of fish combined well with the curry sauce, would recommend!

I like enjoying the vibe here, although the food is too sweet for me but overall I do like to spend my evenings here :)

Came here way back in about 2016 a few times and it was great. Not been in the area in a while but came back for dinner this evening and the food was just excellent. Really delicious. Lovely service too.

We had dinner here last night. I can only agree with all the positive reviews. Our hosts were very warm and welcoming and the service was perfect. We had the tasting menu and every dish was delicious and cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend!

Great night at viceroy again definitely the best Asian food In Birmingham . The service is exemplary and never falls short of what you’d expect from such a fantastic restaurant we’ve been coming to viceroy now for about 15 years and it never fails being a top top restaurant. My husband & I came here for an evening meal on a quiet Monday evening and I couldn’t recommend it enough! The customer service was absolutely amazing from start to finish, supper attentive and accommodating. The food was out of this world, best curry I’ve had in a very long time. Amazing value for money in a perfect location. We will definitely be back soon.

It was a rainy midweek night, but it was reasonably busy. Service and food were excellent. I'd not had a curry with beetroot in before, but really enjoyed it with some lovely lamb. I'm not in Birmingham very often but would definitely look forward to another visit.
