What a wonderful find! You could walk down the High Street and miss this special retreat as it’s accessible via a narrow alleyway from the main road pavement. Keep an eye out for, "The Vine Tea Rooms" sign above the alley entrance. Just 50 feet in and you’ll find yourself in a beautifully kept secluded garden away from the noise and busy market place. A real sun trap in summer and a great place to sit outside and enjoy a cream tea and a slice of cake. Equally you could be sipping an artisan gin or one of the local ales available from the well appointed bar. On entering the premises you’ll be welcomed by one of the friendly and very helpful staff showing you to your table in either the tea room or the restaurant / bar area where there is a classic Devon menu to peruse. The local speciality of the day board is displayed above the fireplace and includes delicious starters, mains and deserts which will keep you coming back for more! Equally on a winters or rainy day it’s the perfect place to find a cosy table by the roaring open fire and have that delectable "winter warmer"! A real gem that will make you look forward to your return!

The Vine Inn Pub and Tearooms may be found at the end of Vine Passage. It's Honiton's equivalent to Platform 9¾ in Harry Potter. At one end is the bustling High Street of our special little Town, and at the other is the peaceful Oasis of the Vine Inn's Garden and it's Warm & Friendly Inn and Tearoom. The Vine is homely and unpretentious and renowned for its Home Cooked Lunches and local Otter Ales served from barrels behind the bar. Most folk prefer to sit in the Pub area and order from the Bar, rather than in the more Spartan Tearoom itself. Oddly, they don't serve Bacon or Sausage Sandwiches which would probably increase their business, so our preferred Breakfast/Brunch order is their Cheese on Toast, which is delicious and so very moreish. Their Home-made Cottage Pie is also highly recommended. Tip - If you order a pot of Tea, always ask for a jug of Hot Water as well. The only negative is their tasty but overpriced Deserts at £7.25. The entrance to Vine Passage is between the Specsavers Shop and Desire Jewellers, but please keep it to yourself!

Such a wonderful find! My friends and i just stopped in Honiton for a coffee break after travelling from Woolacombe. However, when we found this lovely place tucked away, and were greeted by such a lovely, cheerful lady, we decided to stay for lunch. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. It is obviously quite popular with the locals, as it was busy, but we had a lovely table in the garden. We can highly recommend this little treasure of Honiton.

Very happy to have found this gem in Honiton for lunch! We were welcomed into the little tea room with a lovely warm aga. Lottie the dog was fussed over and given a sausage chopped up in a bowl (that's we paid for) and some free gravy bones 😋 We both enjoyed the cauliflower cheese with gorgeous homemade bread, and took home a couple of cakes as we couldn't resist. Jon enjoyed his pot of tea. Prices were in line with other eateries, and I would highly recommend visiting here if you have a dog.

We had soup and bread (£6.50) and Cauliflower Cheese with bread roll (£8.75) with one coffee and a pot of tea. Bill came to £27.65 which I estimate to be an overcharge of about £8.00. Take extreme care to check your bill (we were not given a bill) if you visit.

A friend and I caught the train from Exeter to spend a day in Honiton enjoying the sunshine. I have been to these tea rooms twice before, both for coffee and toasted tea cake (which were lovely). I was happy to take my friend there for lunch. We both chose the chicken in white wine and tarragon sauce with new potatoes and vegetables followed by a Belgian waffle with strawberries, chocolate sauce, cream and ice cream. All of it was well presented and very tasty and at a reasonable price so I would not hesitate to recommend. There is a small garden if the weather is nice, or you have a dog with you, plus there is an adjoining bar if you fancy more than coffee. ...hidden down a narrow alleyway, halfway down the High Street (the entrance is just across the road from the National Westminster Bank), The Vine Inn - and its adjacent tea rooms - will do you a very decent and reasonably proved lunch, and an excellent pint of real ale (currently Otter Best Bitter or Otter Ale), which you can enjoy in a beautifully tended little courtyard garden. A haven of peace and blessed coolness in the hot weather, and well worth coming off the A30 for, for a much-needed break. Lovely staff, good menu. Beer overpriced but seems to be the normal cartel prices with Otter beer and no competition to combat this. Very vintage feel to the cafe but we opted to sit outside in the delightfully enclosed garden. The Tea Rooms at The Vine, located in Vine Passage, immediately off the centre of Honiton is a first class venue. There is a charming garden area with tables and chairs and the interior is equally attractive and cosy. The staff are friendly and engaging. There is a decent menu and the food, service and presentation is excellent. The adjoining Vine pub gives wider choices for your drink. Highly recommended.

Went out to lunch with my son and came across this place which is down a side alley off the main street. A lovely place, warm and welcoming. The lunch menu was simple but plenty to choose from for a snack . The sandwiches are lovely which is what we had. Would recommend this little gem as its quiet and homely. There is a little green lawn outside to sit when the sun is shining! Would go back

We went for a Valentines lunch which was really nice. It was a small, simple menu and the two dishes we had were very well made, home cooked fine food. All the staff, the lady behind the bar and the waitress were very friendly. It felt like they were pleased to have us in their pub

Tucked away but well worth the effort to find. It's a quiet corner. V welcoming, especially to well behaved Labradors (my one blagged herself lots of dog biscuits). Food was very nice, made for a lovely lunch. But it was the friendly staff and atmosphere that really made it. Thank you, especially from Poppy the lab.

On my first visit to Honiton yesterday, having recently moved near Exeter whilst browsing the local shops with my daughter we came across the sign for this little restaurant/cafe and walked down the little alleyway to it passing the charming flowered garden which must be delightful to sit in on warm days, especially as it is well set back from the High Street which you can't see from thereThere was a lovely fire burning away on one side of the counter where a few tables were but were full so we sat at the last vacant table on the other side.On the blackboard were a selection of specials of the day including 2 or 3 soups including Brocolli & Stilton and amongst the main courses was a Steak & Kidney Pie with Puff pastry accompanied by vegetables which I decided upon. My daughter chose the mushroom on garlic bread covered with a delivious creamy sauce. It arrived within 10 minutes or so and as well as looking very appetising with its big layer of puff pastry, and side dish of fresh cauliflour, carrots, peas and potatoes was absolutely delicious!! Real home cooking taste, the meat just melted in your mouth and there was kidney in it of course in a super sauce, the potatoes reminded me of the flavour of 'jerseys' from where I originate! and the carrots were cooked just right, tender but not overcooked. I asked for a little knob of butter to put onto my potatoes and within moments a little dish with 3 good knobs arrived with a smile!Unfortunately we had no real space left to sample the puddings including the Treacle tat we fancied so had a lovely pot of tea for 2. The bill came to a fraction over 18 pounds and was worth every penny. Pity some of the pubs around can't offer such excellent fare!Attentive staff, friendly and ready to oblige! We will be back for sure!!!Thanks!!

Small but very friendly tea room. Very warm welcome, and lovely lunch. Plenty of food and very reasonably priced. Quite a charming place oldy worldly and well worth a visit. The cakes looked out of this world although we didn't indulge. Would definitely go back!

It is down an alley at the back of the Vine Inn on the High Street so easily passed by. We stopped for a midday snack and found it was inexpensive and great quality. It is well worth finding fit it's old fashioned feel alone.

It's like stepping back in time here! It's just off the Main Street tucked up a little alley. The garden is pretty and has tables and chairs inside is untouched and old fashioned. The food is locally sourced and very good value, everything from a cuppa and cake through to a three course meal. No frills just good old fashioned service, value and ethos. Adjoining is an independent free house which looks equally good

Tucked away at the top of an alley we found this small but inviting cafe. Our meals were scrumptious and good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful and the toilet facilities were clean but very small. Would visit again.
