Vintage Birdcage On The Bridge in South Gloucestershire

Popped in today for a coffee. Don’t normally drink festive beverages. But the young barista girl named Lexie recommended cinnamon latte with toasted marshmallows as her signature coffee. It was the best drink I have had in ages. Pure coffee perfection in a mug ❤️ the photos don’t do it justice. Sat in the aptly named naughty corner. There was a lovely atmosphere between the staff and customers, even though I could see the place was about to get very busy as table were being moved to accommodate large groups who had previously booked. I never felt rushed or that because I only had a coffee any less valid as a customer. Will definitely be back on the new year ☺️

Very long wait for one sandwich and a salad for a mid-week lunchtime, nearly an hour. Had to ask when food was coming twice and still delayed. The salad had no dressing and the sandwich was so dry it cut my mouth. Coffee was nice and staff were friendly, but won't return and would not recommend, really disappointing.

Enjoyed our lunch here as the portion size was very generous, using good quality ingredients and very well presented. The service was very efficient and professional. However, the chocolate cake we tried was on the dry side so I was slightly disappointed with that considering the name of the place and its reputation for deliciousness. Overall, I was very impressed with the restaurant which sold a great choice of dishes, catered well for vegetarians, easy parking and very well decorated. I definitely recommend this place and am particularly impressed by their facilities for people with disabilities.

Really good cafe food and drinks, followed up by great cakes! The Big breakfast certainly was…more than I could manage today. 😀

Second visit to this place, coffee is delicious, sweet treats are delicious and the variety is great. Tried the toffee nut latte today and presentation was 10/10 despite being in a takeaway cup. I really do love this place, it's just beautiful 😍

A great cafe in the heart of Charfield in modern stylish purposeful building not far from the railway bridge and village hall (park here as there is limited onsite parking). Deliscous cafe food like panini's, jackets spuds, breakfasts etc. I had the classic Club sandwich which was yummy, filled full of chicken etc sandwiched between perfect toast. Also had a lovely flat-white coffee. The cakes are to die for, they make the perfect carrot cake! 🥕

We went for an afternoon tea for my birthday today, the staff didn’t know and still the service was excellent, food was amazing full of flavour and lots of choice. Honestly one of the best afternoon tea’s Iv ever done! Highly recommend! Xx

Food was good but had to wait over an hour

Exceeded expectations: trouble is if you've read this your expectations will be raised so you'll miss some of the joy. But there is plenty to be joyful about. The salad was genorous and my topping of bacon, chicken and avocado was equally indulgent and tasty. (This meal does not appear on the list below) Now for the cake..

Our dog was referred to a local vets here for a day procedure. We spent the day in Vintage Birdcage Cakery and it was amazing! Very friendly staff, great food and lovely atmosphere. Malteser milkshake was epic. Ideal location with parking outside, would 100% recommend.

Stopped for lunch, salad was absolutely superb. Large choice of cakes and deserts. Very reasonably priced. Would recommend.

Had an afternoon tea to take away for 4 people, absolutely lovely! Nice to get some salad with the delicious sandwiches and sausage rolls and lots of nice berries amongst the amazing variety of cakes. Excellent.

Great place for cake lovers! Fantastic range of delicious cakes - some unusual options available, including gluten-free. The menu has something for everyone inc a range of breakfast dishes, brunch & lunch options. Outdoor & indoor seating available. We really enjoyed the chocolate cheesecake!

Really nice independant cafe. Beautifully decorated. When we arrived yesterday morning they were having a "monday morning" nightmare with some logistics, but the staff were exceptionally kind and accomodating despite their own trials - and we had an absolutely superb sausage roll and some drinks whilst we dodged the inclement August weather ourselves. I won't hesitate to go back when next we're in the area, and incidentally there is a brilliant play park right over the road, so it's a great little destination corner!

Oh my days, what can I say about this place other than 'incredible'. Beautiful surroundings and decor, friendly smiling staff. Gorgeous food and the cakes 🎂 are fantastic. We'll be back very soon!!

Food was lovely even though we had to chase it up. Cakes incredible. Bit of a shame that the kids sandwich meal only came with 6 cheesy wotsits!

Very nice place and the food was good too. Service was OK when it happened but a bit slow. I suspect they need more staff or were low on staff that day (Sunday last). I would happily return for more.

We had an 'after hours' afternoon tea for 20 people to celebrate my sister's hen weekend. The food was absolutely amazing, the staff lovely and attentive. The table looked fabulous with all the mismatched vintage crockery. We all had the best time and I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend the Birdcage. We also took home what we couldn't manage and have enjoyed cake for breakfast!!!!

Passed the place many times to and from work. As it was raining today, thought we'd give it a try. First impression was, it's busy! But we were seated pretty quickly. The room was airy and bright, and well laid out. The staff were very friendly. A good choice of light meals that were reasonably priced and a cracking pot of tea! As we were a little full after eating, we took some cakes to go. Overall, a really nice place to visit 🙂

Really nice place. Been wanting to go for a while based on some friends recommendations. It did not disappoint. Should probably have booked as it was busy but didn't have to wait long to be seated. Food was amazing and staff were very friendly and helpful. Will be going back soon!

Fantastic venue for a private party. Nicole, Rosie and team did us proud for my 60th party at the weekend. Sparkling lights, fizz flowing and some delicious canapés, Paul Smith as DJ meant we danced the night away too ! Would highly recommend the VBC at the Bridge for your next special event.

Brilliant 60th Birthday evening party last night. 72 guests and DJ. Amazing food and drink. Cake to die for and perfectly co-ordinate service. Smart and intelligent serving staff who just knew exactly when to serve food and drink. We cannot recommend the Cakery on the Bridge enough!!! Can’t wait for the next party!!

We were there for a great party last night, what a fabulous space! Can highly recommend for a special celebration and the food was amazing, they even produced a gluten free version for me which so good.

Beautiful cafe! What a lovely place this is, decorated very stylish. We had breakfast in here, slightly expensive but a prime example of ‘you get what you pay for.” One of the nicest breakfasts I’ve ever had, you can taste that they use fresh ingredients. Staff were all really friendly and welcoming too

Lovely place. Lots of space/tables. We had booked for the afternoon tea, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend (you do need to book I believe). Staff were hot and bothered and did forget our drinks and didn't explain what food we had but they were really busy and didn't stop the whole time. Dog friendly and has a little dog menu. Some parking, but if not space in the car park then you can park on the street. Would return. Would recommend. The cakes were so tasty, light and sweet.

Value for money and great place for catch up

Visited here only twice but had great experience both times. We recently had a Hen Do afternoon tea here , the food was as always delicious. The staff were really great and so friendly, especially Niamh who helped arrange it all from the start after having our previous venue cancel on us last minute. Couldn't recommend going here enough 🥰

Really nice place, cakes look good (although 4.95 seemed pretty steep). I had some quiche, which was a decent portion and was very nice. Coffee was alright, nothing to get excited about.

Delightful cafe and cake lovers dream! Fabulous food and drinks menu for anytime of day. Delicious selection of cakes and pastries, especially loved the sausage rolls and custard slice which was huge! Avo Toast. Eggs Benedict, Florentine and Royale firm favourites by many. Very friendly atmosphere, lovely staff and child friendly too with a small play corner. Free parking outside in a small carpark.

Good food and drinks, slightly pricey but I think you would expect that from an independent shop like this. We were a party of 4 including 2 wheelchairs and we were disappointed to find we were initially seated in front of a staff only door, so one of the chairs was hit when the staff was trying to exit the door. After this we were also disappointed to find that the emergency pull cord in the bathroom was not only wrapped up, but not actually connected. This is a health risk, if someone collapses in that toilet, they cannot call for help. The lack of concern for patrons with disabilities left a sour taste overall unfortunately.

An accidental find but what a gem !! Amazingly busy but the staff and the kitchen were coping well. Delicious coffee, cake to die for and the never ending smiles of the waiting staff never faltered. We found prices to be average but cheap compared to what was on offer. A big plus for me is that dogs are welcome and there treats available to buy to keep your K9 happy. This is the best accidental find I’ve ever made.

Visited for the first time today and had a lovely experience. Beautiful breakfast and lovely staff. Just a shame the table next to us were moaning all the way through our meal about their wait for service. We didn't have any problems on what was a very busy service.

Great breakfast reasonably priced. Varied menu with lots of tasty choices. Space is beautifully presented, lovely and warm inside on a cold day. Allows doggie pets inside too. Coffee good. Worth a visit for brekkie or brunch.

First visit yesterday for four of us.Setting is very nice-easy access-decent car park-Food plenty to choose from and good variety-Prices are fair and reasonable-good portions-service was good-certainly recommend and will return in the future.

I love this new updated Cafe now🙂 Compared to how it used to be, its so much better with the new owner. Great Atmosphere, nice decor and brilliant happy smiling staff! The food and coffee is great. I can recommend the ham eggs and chips, good portions. The cakes, if you haven't room for one, take one home they are fantastic. One of the staff sifted through our jar to find the salt as we couldn't see the sachets. She spotted that we were struggling to find it. Nothing too much trouble. I spoke to the owner today, what a lovley lady, smiling like the staff and so friendly. No airs or graces lovely person. It gets really busy, so you might have to time it right going there. We go about 2.30 - 3.00 pm. Highly recommended for a visit. Dogs allowed, and a children's play area inside. Also outside seating covered from the rain, Parking is available but it gets busy. Put it on your list ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We are genuine with our review and live locally. Thanks from Geoff and Pen. .

Excellent place to meet friends for brunch or lunch. Service is very friendly and food is excellent. I don't think you can book but there are tables outside as well and it's dog and child friendly! Parking can be limited if very busy but you can park in the village hall car park opposite!

Visited after recommendation and was not disappointed. Nice food and tasty hot coffees (good varied menu and prices reasonable). Despite it being busy around lunchtime, staff pleasant and cheerful. Clean facilities and plenty of tables and chairs inside and outside. Will definitely visit again.

Very poor used to be great. About to leave sat for about 15mins. Still no one has taken order. So no coffee or breakfast. Oh well will spend my money else where. Rubbish rubbish staff every where .please train your staff. Well i will add i have had a phone call from the manager. Very sorry and will try to change. Good to here .

Excellent food all on one level plenty of room

I have had the pleasure of visiting this cafe many times and absolutely love everything about it. The staff are always so kind and chatty and can not do enough for you. The food always tastes great and look incredible on presentation. The drinks are always generous and there is a large selection of both hot and cold beverages. The main high light of course is the bakery, the cakes, cookies and all other sweet treats are just incredible and there is always something new to try as well as the classics. 100% would recommend this cafe to anyone with or without children.

Visited yesterday at 10.30am with family, we got a table straight away, and staff were quick to take our order, however we waited 20 minutes for our drinks and 35 minutes for our food, I had gluten free poached egg on toast, other 2 members of my family had the birdcage breakfast, mum enjoyed hers but my daughter had the vegetarian option and said it tasted greasy. When we went to pay, we added some cakes and a smoothie to take away. There are no prices displayed for the cakes, so it came to a huge shock to us when the bill came to £75. There weren't any free from cakes on display, the lady that served us did offer to see if they had anything, but after the shock of the bill, I declined her offer, much cheaper to bake it myself. The toilet was clean, but the tiles on the wall behind the sink and the wall under the hand dryer need a good scrub, they were so dirty they had dust stuck to them. Overall we enjoyed our visit, but will be cautious about coming back at those prices.

Lovely setting with beautiful decor and amazing cakes that cannot be faulted. However, we visited and ordered poached eggs on toast which consisted of two pieces of buttered toast and 2 poached eggs and this 10 minute meal took 45 minutes to be served to us. The food was lukewarm but still, tasty. When fed back to staff the waitress just shrugged her shoulders and smiled. Disappointing service for what is a lovely place.

Absolutely amazing afternoon tea . We went to celebrate a friends birthday .Plenty of food ,even a wonder gluten free tea bought out individually. Savoury cheese pin wheels were delicious!

My son and I stopped here for a short while. Whilst I only had an iced latte, my son opted for a tuna sandwich. Both were very nice although a little expensive. Very friendly and efficient staff. Would definitely recommend and will most definitely return 👌 👍 🙌 👏

We arrived 3 minutes after 9 opening time waited 3/4 of an hour for our food ,we ordered birdcage breakfast , when it eventually arrived it had obviously been standing for ages , the egg was congealed, the was cold by the time we got it out tea was cold too 6 members of staff standing around the till doing nothing Very disappointed won’t go back

Love the decor and food was great

It's great to see some one take the unit and make a success of it. It is much better than the previous owners. It is very busy which is fantastic but it does sometimes mean a short wait for food. That isn't a bad thing because the food is really good.

Wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family.

Nice, airy restaurant. Very wide selection of cakes and good menu options for brunch/lunch. Service has room for improvement though. Over an hour wait for a bacon sandwich and halloumi on toast. Would have left if it weren't for being right on lunch and no where else being open locally. Had better experiences at the Yate branch, so hopefully just a one off.

Good coffee, good size pieces of cake, dog friendly, what's not to like?
