Delicious food. The Okra was phenomenal.

If you want to eat authentic, freshly prepared, ethnic Sri Lankan food then Virundhu is it. A great ambiance and a wide selection of dishes makes it suitable for entertaining friends who are new to Sri Lankan food. Plenty of street parking and very attentive staff – we had an infant with us on this visit and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The menu caters for all diets and they serve hoopers too – what more do you need. Highly recommended.

Great meal. The mocktails were great, especially the virgin mojito. We had a range of food : kothu, meen curry, parippu, parota and apppams. All were exquisite.. definitely recommend.

Took my family for dine in. The staff give warm welcome and it’s really feel good the be welcomed. We ordered mutton roll,salt&peper squid and prawn devil. It was soo good. The spice and moisture of the meat and seafood was absolutely spot on. For main virundhu sappadu is a must. Authentic way to experience Sri Lankan Cuisine. So delicious worth a visit. Overall one of the best experiences we had .

Amazing food and great service!

Excellent food, we had a wonderful evening. The mutton rolls were great to start as were chicken wings. We had the clay pot mutton, which was good and the chicken kotthu was nice. The wattakallam (I think this is what it was called) was a lovely desert to finish. The family loved it, we’d visit again for sure.

This is an update. We had lunch here on 4th January 2025. The temperature outside was four degrees Celsius. The temperature inside was cold and very uncomfortable. We had to sit with our winter coats on. The food took over one hour to arrive. Overall, a horrible experience. We will avoid this place in winter. We visited the restaurant on a Monday afternoon. There was only one other customer. I prefer this kind of environment, as, in my experience, the inevitable corollary of a busy restaurant is lower quality of service. The premises are quite small--not many tables. Because of this, it may be sensible to book a table before showing up during busy times. Pay-and-display parking is available. Their online booking system didn't work very well. After entering the details and submitting, no confirmation was displayed, instead the blank form was presented again. I thought my booking had failed, and re-entered and resubmitted, only to find that the page once again showed a blank form and no confirmation at all. Worried, I called them and booked a table over the phone. There appeared to be only one person on customer-facing duties, but this seemed to be sufficient. We ordered some starters which arrived reasonably quickly. Main meal took a bit longer, but in my opinion it was ok. The desserts arrived pdq. Service was smooth, and the waiter who served us was polite and respectful. The menu is limited, but there is sufficient variety to get a taste of North Sri Lankan food. Prices are above average for a suburban location. Commenting just on the dishes/items we had, I would opine that they were of above average quality--that encompasses taste, and mix and balance of spices used. Is this authentic Sri Lankan food? It's the wrong question to ask. I have lived in three countries for long periods of time, and tasted the foods of seven different cultures. Authenticity is a difficult concept when it comes to food. Sri Lanka itself broadly has Tamil food, Sinhalese food and South Indian-style food. Within each of these there are variations and the melding of formulas. Virundhu's food is closer to the Northern Sri Lankan cuisine. Overall, this is a good restaurant, serving good food, that is allied to the Northern Sri Lankan style of cooking. This is based on the dishes/items we had. I would recommend their Chicken 65. I wasn't impressed with their wine as it had a sour taste.☹️

Absolutely fantastic food. Spicy but not too hot. Seafood platter: they needed to supply a finger bowl, but it tasted superb.

We had such a lovely experience here. As a Tamil myself and a big foodie the food tasted sooo anuthentic and delicious. I highly recommend the mutton curry on the bone with the parathas. Great service too, I will be back.

New years eve early dinner first visit will definitely return

Objectively the best tasting Kothu Roti (Chicken + Mutton) in this part of London, the service from our waiter Rakesh was extremely professional. The aesthetics of the restraunt is modern, sleek and yet very cozy and warm, couldn't ask for more on a cold winter night.

Lovely food with lots of options. Naadan kozhikozhambu was one of our favourites with parotta. Wattalappam is also a good dessert option. The Arrack Colada was our favourite cocktail!

I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant today at lunchtime. The food was delicious, we especially enjoyed the sweet coconut hopper (a pancake) and the spicy mutton rolls! Brilliant 10/10 customer service. There were two birthdays in my group and the waiter treated them with a complimentary dessert which was very appreciated. The lunch menu is also very reasonably priced. I look forward to returning sometime soon!

Delicious Sri Lankan style Sunday roast. Nicely spiced and “melt in the mouth” lamb with all the trimmings. Homemade Yorkshire puddings, buttery roast potatoes and gravy. Complimentary wattapan and ginger tea was a perfect end to a lovely lunch. Highly recommended

Amazing food & great customer service!

Had a pleasant time here. The food is mediocre and is not commensurate with the high prices. For example, I have never paid 6 pounds for two (small) mutton rolls or for two fish cutlets; and I have visited many of these types of restaurants globally. Rakesh provided excellent customer service and was very polite.

Food just mediocre for the price they charge Won’t let you have your meal in peace . Five six different persons come over to ask if you need anything. Even before you’ve finished your meal and taken a breather they come over and ask you to give them 5 start review there and then . That’s how they build up their ratings

This is one of the best meals we have ever had! We came here with our family from Australia and were treated to a true Jaffna experience. The food was delicious, the service was incredible and we had a wonderful time. I would recommend the crab curry and the vegetarian banana leaf. Credits to the chef and team, this was 10/10.
