Wagamama in York

The place is still very nice and the service is good and quick. The salmon 🍣 tastes great but the vegetables are less in the dish😛

I like everything but the meals are too expensive for me with what I was served.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Wagamama (York outlet)and wanted to share my thoughts on the experience, particularly highlighting the outstanding service provided by one of the staff members, Myla. Firstly, the food was served piping hot, which I appreciated. However, there was a slight issue with the timing of our mains; my dish arrived a full 12 minutes before my partner's. It would have been much nicer for us to enjoy our meals together, as mine began to cool while we waited for his. What truly stood out during our visit was Myla's exceptional service. She was extremely professional and genuinely attentive. When I mentioned my concerns about the timing of the dishes, she listened with great care and understanding. I was particularly impressed by her ability to read the situation; she could tell that I wasn’t fully satisfied with my meal without me needing to elaborate. Myla’s attentiveness and willingness to address my feedback made a significant difference to our experience. She offered thoughtful solutions and ensured that we felt valued as customers. It’s rare to encounter such a dedicated and observant staff member, and I believe she deserves high praise for her efforts. Overall, despite a small hiccup with the meal timing, Myla’s exceptional service transformed our experience into a positive one. I look forward to returning to Wagamama and hope to see Myla again!

This was our first time here. Our server Emma was so helpful, explaining how the menu worked etc. The food was absolutely fantastic, we will definitely be back x

Fui con un par de amigos. Yo y uno más habíamos estado antes y disfrutado, así que estábamos felices de intentarlo de nuevo. El ambiente era relajado cuando fuimos, el personal amable y servicial y la comida era sabrosa. Tenía Pad Thai, con pollo y gambas.

Very professional and caring! Food was amazing

Nuestra primera vez visitando un restaurante Wagamama, y superó nuestras expectativas. Personal amable, comida muy sabrosa, bien presentada, y un precio justo. Aunque estaba ocupado nos atendieron a tiempo, y el personal era muy servicial, ya que éramos nuevos en la experiencia. Ambiente muy relajado y como estaba en el outlet de diseño había un montón de aparcamiento gratuito. ¡Bien hecho tripulación Wagamama hoy!

Got my order wrong. Waited for another dish by which time my partner had finished. Asked for water which didn’t arrive.

Always good food, just a shame they don't do duck ramen anymore

Another tasty meal at Wagamamas. Visited on a Friday after work and had no problem getting seated. Staff were great and food arrived quickly. Food was tasty and fresh as always. Paid using QR code and had no hassle.

Comfortable and friendly Wagamamas.

Wagamamas is probably my favourite chain restaurant, decent quality food with good flavour. The only downside to this one is that there toilet is outside the restaurant.

Good place to eat, staff are very friendly and helpful. Only annoying thing is that yes even though food comes out at different times, a lot of times we received mains before our starters which was a bit annoying. Food is usually good, rarely we've had problems e.g. noodles being a bit burnt. Cheerful place and quite reliable.

Me apetecía probar algo diferente y aunque no soy vegetariana he estado apreciando recientemente lo que se puede hacer con la calabaza butternut así que decidí por el curry de calabaza butternut asado. No puedo recordar su nombre elegante. Mi comida llegó con un aspecto muy atractivo, salsa preciosa, un montón de arroz y el puñado de hojas al lado. En una inspección más cercana había solo 4 pequeños trozos de calabaza butternut. Llamó la atención de nuestro servidor que estuvo de acuerdo en que era una porción pobre y habló con la cocina que se ofreció a cocinar de nuevo desde cero o traer un poco de calabaza adicional para agregar a mi plato. Como mi esposo ya estaba arropado en su curry katsu, acepté lo último. Alrededor de 10 minutos después, cuando casi terminaba de comer la salsa y el arroz, me dieron un tazón de algo que se parecía a chips en miniatura en cubos fritos. Olía a grasa de cocina. Frito para que no se pudiera determinar el color de lo que era y sin salsa adicional... . no esperaba una comida fresca por ningún tramo de la imaginación, pero sí esperaba cubos de calabaza de mantequilla ASADA en alguna salsa adicional. Simplemente no es una solución aceptable y si me hubiera dado cuenta de que ese iba a ser el resultado, no me habría molestado en primer lugar. El gerente me dijo que la comida estaba dividida en porciones en peso... bueno, si ese es el caso, esto definitivamente hace que la calabaza butternut sea un artículo de lujo más caro que el oro! La comida fue sacada de la cuenta, pero dudaría en volver a Wagamama.

Nunca comí aquí antes y me pasé de compras. Tengo un entrante de carne abrasada con moolie encurtido, seguido de un plato de fideos con pato crujiente, era absolutamente 💯%. Servicio fabuloso e increíble valor. El personal se tomó el tiempo para explicar el menú cuando no estábamos seguros de qué tener. Mirando toda la comida que sale de la cocina podría haber pedido cualquier cosa y ser feliz. ¡El mejor almuerzo que he tenido en años!

I been doing some training at the designer outlet and have had a few meals at the wagamama and the food and service has been great the Hotpot, firecracker, pad Thai and the beef reman are all great will definitely be going to my local wagamama once my training is done.

I came here for dinner with my sister and her family, and I'm so glad that we did. They have kids meals which was perfect for my niece. My sister and I each ordered the vegetarian pad thai which was yummy and her daughter and partner had the katso curry. The service was great as was the food. I look forward to coming back here.

Awesome experience we had at the Designer outlet York. Great service at Wagamama and very friendly staff. They was there for us at every step even though the restaurant was full. We will definitely go back. Great playground for children too.

Service quick but food average. I was shown to my table by one person then dealt with three other staff before I left. I chose not to pay using the QR code as I didn’t want to enter all my data. I ordered gyoza as a starter but they arrived later than the main . Veg gyoza was barely warm and pretty tasteless. The chicken katsu was ok but the sauce was too thick and super salty. Not wowed at all.

Tasty fresh made to order food as to be expected from Wagamamas anywhere. Friendly staff made our lunch a delight. They do a kids menu which is tasty but not spicy and was a big hit with 6 and 8 Yr olds.

Overpriced, small portioned food, but nicely cooked food.

The service at Wagamama was completely unacceptable. Despite an empty restaurant, the hostess rudely instructed us to go back and wait at the door, showing a complete lack of regard for customers. Her behaviour was appalling and completely unprofessional. Had my wife not been hungry, we would have left without a second thought. It's crucial to treat paying customers with respect, and the way we were treated fell far short of that standard. In the end, we found out the unfriendly Eastern European girl who was the host she is the actual manager!!!!

Good food, great service and clean spacious covers.

Extremely rude staff. Got some cut apples in a bowl for my 2 year old because she won’t eat Japanese. Was told to “keep it away”. Never going again!!

Food as ever at Wagamama was full of flavour and served when ready, not all brought out together. We were after a quick evening meal and were glad we dropped in.

Second time going to Wagamama the first time was ok as for the second really not great at all , I had the noodles with chicken and prawns when it came I’m not being funny they could of sold this as a vegetarian meal there was next to zero chicken or prawns in it , noodle don’t cost a lot or spring onions also peppers so why do they think it ok to charge £14.50 for a dish that cost to make would be £2 at a push ,trust me I know as I’ve been a head chef for 10 years and 13 years as a normal chef , I can say I will not be using Wagamama ever again , you rip off your customers ,shame on you .

She took the dish away and said well you've eaten most of it. I said yes apart from what I believed to be undercooked. She reply was I eat them everyday it's not undercooked. I wasn't looking for a refund or a replacement I was merely answering her question for feedback. Her tine I believe she was called mila at the york outlet wagamamas was so undermining and she just took the plate and was like ok. Her facial expression and response was completely unacceptable. I've never been spoken down to like that and was actually quite upsetting.

Visited Wagamama's for the first time during a regular trip to York Outlet. Usually when go here its so busy but this time we got lucky and arrived before the lunch time rush. Was seated promptly and as it was our first visit the waitress explained how to order and how to understand the menu. Food arrived very quickly, do like that the food arrives when its cooked and does not wait for the whole table's order to be ready. This feels very street food like which I enjoy and means the food is always piping hot. The starter was lovely, the main course was Chicken Teriyaki Noodles which was amazing. Next time I would probably choose the Beef over the Chicken as I've heard these are better. Cant wait to return!

Great Gluten free menu and staff really knowledgeable

A family friendly venue that cater for children - colours and drawing sheet on table ready for us. Unfortunately the kids weren’t really into the fried sweet potato option on the combo deal. Staff really smiley and helpful and food for adults was delicious. Juices, as always, went down a treat for all. Enjoy!

Always good here. Bang bang cauliflower is incredible

Visited here twice and had the Beef Brisket Ramen. Everything about this Wagamamas is great, always good service and never a long wait for a table even when it's busy on a weekend.

My curry sauce was cold . noodles were dry and stodgy.and not enough teriyaki sauce.very disappointed ☹️☹️

Never disappointed when we visit here. Staff are always exceptional and their attention to dietary requirements is second to non.

A perfect little stop off after a shopping trip. Never disappointed when we do visit, great flavoursome food, wide variety and the level of customer service is exceptional. Having coeliac disease the processes they have in place to ensure my requirements are met are second to non. The time the staff spend to fully explain process's and the measures they put in place is something rarely found in most eateries.

Me and my partner ordered one hot pot of chicken and one of beef and I think it was the spiciest thing I've ever eaten, my partner couldn't even finish her meal, there was no clear indication on the menu that it was that spicy and the waiter did not tell us anything about it either. Our starters cost a fortune for the amount we got too. All together it was super disappointing considering we spent a lot of money there.

Very delicious food, the service is nice just I don’t like the tables as we have to share with strangers. I was very impressed by the quality and the portion size of the meals, it was really worth it trying.

Just stopped for somewhere to eat was nearly out off by the queue which disappeared quickly, service amazing food even better.

Lunch was lovely here, got quickly seated & order taken quickly. Drinks lovely and cold, food delicious as always! Ordered the new roti raisukatsu starter - highly recommend! Had chilli chicken ramen & chicken yaki soba - YUM!

Always enjoyable. Frustratingly, and it was absolutely freezing. Not entirely their fault but slightly detracted from the experience. More of a climate issue than a restaurant issue but they could have whacked the heating on...

For a chain it's really nice food and good service

My wife and I attempted to have lunch at Waggamama”s in the York Outlet yesterday. We queued for 20mins and when it was our turn to be seated I asked the waiter if we could be seated at one of the seating booths at the front of the restaurant due to it being quite warm in the centre of the restaurant. As there were a couple already dining in one of the booths I didn’t think it would be a problem, as it would have been much cooler there than in the main dining area. To my amazement I was informed by the waiter that the seated booths were for 4 people only and we had to dine in the main restaurant. I immediately pointed to the couple who were already seated in the booth and asked how could that be, when there was clearly 2 people already eating in a booth. The reply from the waiter was “I don’t really know, but do you want to eat in the main restaurant or not”. My wife and I decided not to bother due to the main restaurant being very warm inside. We then decided to dine at Pizza Express and had a lovely meal with outstanding customer service. The next point is beyond belief and clearly demonstrates the lack of customer service at Waggamama”s. As we walked past the restaurant I noticed once again that a couple were dining in one of the, so called “family booths” for 4 people and not for couples. I proceeded to go into the restaurant and asked the manager why had we been refused to eat at one of the booths. The manager couldn’t give me a reason and basically tried to ignore my question. At this point, another member of the customer service team asked what the issue was, I explained in full my issue and was told that one of the diners had a back problem and that was the reason they were seated in a booth. I then reminded the waiter that the couple earlier were seated in the booth and was given a reply of “well they must have just sat down on their own without being seated by a member of staff”. My wife and I, with our family and friends were regular diners at this restaurant, but following yesterday’s experience we will not be using this establishment ever again. To all single, couples or threesome diners who frequent the York Outlet Wagammama”s and wish to sit in one of the “family booths”, please inform the staff you have a back problem and need to sit in one of the “family booths” and you should be able to sit where you desire. Failing this, just ignore the staff and other customers and just blatantly sit in one of the “family booths” and you will be fine. Thanks for nothing Waggamama”s , your customer service is a JOKE!!!!

This is recently my favourite spot for lunch, every time I’ve been every member of staff has been welcoming and friendly and a credit to Wagamama’s. Every time I go I try something different and I have never been disappointed, it has all been fantastic 💕

First visit to wagamama I now understand why there is always a queue. Great food fantastic service and staff would recommend to anyone that likes loves Asian food. Can't wait to come back again. I will say you pay for what you get, yes it isn't cheap and it is very good thanks see you again i hope.

Checking in waiter was horrible and refused to let us sit at one of the empty tables instead sitting us on the end of a party of 6. His argument was they might get big parties arriving anytime. We asked to sit on one of the many tables with just two people on ( or the table for 8 with only one person on) After a stand up row where he humiliated us, we finally got to share a table for 6 with three others. The waiter that took the food order couldn’t have been nicer. Shame the welcome to the restaurant is so unpleasant Food great as slways

My favourite place in the outlet

Food excellent and great value.Staff were so friendly and very efficient. Will definitely visit again Whilst we were having lunch a gentleman came in who clearly had psychiatric issues and was very aggressive and confrontational towards the staff. The manager came over to the man and spoke to him quietly and respectfully, offering him a seat and a drink, the man declined and left the restaurant quietly. The manager totally de-escaleted the situation with his calm and professional manner. A real asset to the company.

Great food..pricey ..hey but that's UK and VAT...not crowded at 6pm mid week even during Xmas. We were surprised the whole mall was quieter than we thought...the good thing in Designer outlet mall is the choices available in terms of various restaurant outlets. Service great as usual

Nice food, service is always friendly but not overboard

We love a visit to Wagamamas, always! The vibe was great, the food was great, too! The waiter came across as a little lost yet very friendly. Overall, I'd recommend Wagamamas as a reliable choice with a vibrant atmosphere.

This restaurant had a heavenly ramen ( which I ate all of) it had delicious drinks and had a lovely broth! Will be back again!

Arrived couple minutes before it opened, girl says can I help you, I say yes table for 2 please, she says we're not open yet, I started replying to her when she turned and walked off! The food was not great, chicken was CRUNCHY and RAW in the middle of peices, wok fried greens sat on the counter for so long they were cold.

Always amazing food and even better service. The waitress was lovely and even commented on my outfit once the food was sent out.

On the day in October half term the restourant was busy but the staff were still friendly and made time for conversation alongside taking order and usual stuff to a friendly but non intrusive level so about perfect. The food was done to a good standard but I thought some of the portion size was miss matched on my manager fresh prepped meal due to allergies with not enough sauce on katsu curry, but I have been here previously and it would have had 5 stars on that occasion when slightly less busy. However considering every table was full and queuing out of the door we were seated within 5 minutes and the service and timing etc was good. Shame a couple next to us expected for everyone to bend to their will, however the staff managed it speedily and maintained situation, shame there are some self entitled people in this world but well done for the staff defusing the situation while standing their ground a good management of a potentially difficult situation.

Have eaten at 3 different restaurants and they don't differ like other franchises. Great food, great staff

Lovely food. Bao buns for starter. Main courses Duck Donbury and Chicken Firecracker were very nice. The Donbury is a larger portion. We were seated very quickly. Service friendly and quick. You can pay at the table via QR code with the option to give a tip. Designer centre offers plenty of parking and the food court is accessible via escalator and lift.

Persuaded my friend to let me treat here and come here for lunch while out shopping. While she had been several years ago, she wasn't sure what the menu was like now. I enjoyed the Salmon Koyo Bowl, while she enjoyed the Katsu Chicken salad....and we split Bang Bang Cauliflower. Both dishes and the side were brought out when ready and we didn't mind this as gave us more time to chat and enjoy our surroundings. The food was stunning, with just the right amount of spices to complement the chicken and salmon. Bang Bang Cauliflower was a revelation and we both want to recreate this at home! Staff were great, service was excellent and food reasonably priced too!

Fully forgotten about. Had to wait 25 mins to order. Came in 40 mins before close so really quiet, staff just cleaning and ignoring us. Such a shame.

Wonderful lunch today. Perfect service and and my son said they couldn’t have done anything to make the food more perfect. The cherry blossom lemonade was great. We hope to return as soon as we are able.

Excellent food good value for money

I had never been to any Wagamama outlet before. We were seated immediately . The young staff were lovely , efficient and healthy .Food was tasty . A great experience.
