What a little gem of a cafe! Next to a decent sized car park, we popped into Yam Frae Yam on a disgustingly wet Saturday afternoon. We had missed the breakfast menu (served until 12) but one of us had a bacon and brie panini and lemon meringue blondie. Both were delicious and great quality. We both also had coffees which were expertly made. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful, even giving us recommendations on walking trails locally and showing us specific routes on Google maps. Loved the unusual decor and the cafe felt spacious - unlike many others where you feel like you're sat on top of other customers! A lovely place to spend a few hours on a rainy afternoon. We hope to return again and sample the breakfast menu! And a shout out to the young lad working there who served our drinks and food and was proactive in clearing our table.

A hidden gem, a perfect little cafe in the heart of Gosforth celebrating locally produced ingredients and local artists. We are frequent visitors to Gosforth and this little cafe really brightened our day and what was a very stormy and wet day. The homemade cakes are lovely and the hot drinks are great too. We would highly recommend this cafe to anyone

This is a must if you’re staying in or near Gosforth, this couple work hard to make this the place to go for breakfast, cooked fresh with local ingredients, I had the Big Yam (Bigger Breakfast) everyday and everybody had different breakfast. The atmosphere is great and the lady also bakes her own cakes as well, I don’t know where she gets the time but they are delicious cakes. Worth booking and reserving a table as we arrived some mornings and it was crowded, don’t pass an opportunity to have breakfast here, just a note it is closed Sunday and Monday, opens 9-3

Light lunch turned into a large lunch due to high quality of produce. Reasonably priced, all made on site & welcoming service.

Just happened to be passing by with two wet dogs in Gosforth. Saw that ‘Dogs were welcomed.Humans tolerated’ Took a chance. Cafe is bright and clean and deliciously quirky. Really friendly greeting and atmosphere. Excellent menu for vegans, vegetarians and sad carnivores like me. My food was just awesome. My cup of tea so big you could have bathed in it. A really delightful find.Up here for a week and will visit again before we leave. Our two dogs loved it to!😎

Good options for vegetarians. We had the full vege breakfast, a huge tea and a great flat white. Plus an amazing brownie to take away. Friendly service as well.

Visited this lovely, cosy cafe on the way to Ennerdale lake. Fantastic little find run by a young couple. She advised us before we ordered that there was a slight delay in food but we didn’t mind as it was obvious everything was cooked freshly. Decor was quaint with lots of paintings which you can purchase. My boyfriend had a mocha and said it was lovely which means a lot as he usually says “bog standard” and I asked for a glass of milk which wasn’t a problem at all. We both had the cooked breakfast and I can honestly say it was one of the nicest we’ve had (and we travel around a lot!). The food was so tasty and well seasoned, it was a delight and the price we paid was extremely reasonable. We don’t often visit the same place twice but if we’re ever back in the area, we will definitely drop in for food! Highly recommend!

OK so there's not a lot of choice in Gosforth but this cafe would fare well against competition anywhere. I visit Gosforth every month or so and always get breakfast here. The window seats are best IMO so I aim to get there 0900-0905hrs to secure my favourite. I take a veggie breakfast but they are very accommodating if you want to opt in or out of specifics. I asked to downsize this morning because the portions are generous. The coffee is great and the service impeccable. The bonus yesterday is that on an impulse I decided to rent one of their electric bikes for 24 hours to find out what all the fuss is about. It was a blast. I'll be back on Saturday 8th October - can I reserve a table for three please?

It was my first visit to Yam Frae Yam and I was attracted by the low prices in a place that can be expensive to eat out. Glad I visited this cafe as my meal and drink came to £ 10.70 and was excellent. My burger, using locally sourced beef, was beautiful and came with slaw and tortilla chips. Also Yam Frae Yam does an excellent cooked breakfast, cakes and paninis, and doubles up as library and an art shop. Yam Frae Yam has free wi fi and the car park next to the cafe is free, another bonus. Anyone who is travelling to Wastwater and Scafell should consider visiting this cafe.

Called into this little cafe after looking at its reviews, not disappointed at all! Quirky decor and local artists work on the walls , met with a warm and friendly welcome . Not fazed by asking for oat milk and gluten free bread . Both of us had a full breakfast , and well cooked tasty food was produced. Not sure where the coffee was from but it was excellent quality and plenty of it. Definitely call back in on another day, atm. Closed on a Sunday and Monday

Stopped off for a coffee, decided to have a teacake, correct decision. Lovely coffee but absolutely delicious teacake with butter and a choice of jam. Staff so friendly, pleasant and helpful. Other diners' choices looked equally attractive. Shame I was only in Gosforth for half an hour! Best bit (apart from the teacake) - they've made an old rolltop bath into a couch! Quirky place.

My mother, myself and my Patterdale puppy visited today for lunch. What a lovely place you have here. The furniture and deco are fabulous. Our lunch was just perfect. The coffee perfect and the massive mug of tea was perfect. Very friendly pleasant staff. Looking forward to our next visit for the breakfast. Thank you very much. Not many places around like this. Excellent value for money too. Love the fact that you are also dog friendly. On entry we saw two other dogs resting paws while their humans enjoyed lunch. Wonderful place. Well done. X

We stumbled upon this lovely cafe whilst cycling one of Thurston’s Lost Lanes routes. Such a lovely reception from the owners who have a bike and board hire business based there also. Nice menu of snacks, including sandwiches and paninis. Good coffee and teas. Free fruit to help yourself, books to read etc. A must if you are in the area.

Found this place on a drive out on Tuesday and we weren't disappointed. We were given a warm welcome, the order was taken quickly and efficiently. We were offered different jams with our scones, something you don't seem to get elsewhere. The staff were very nice. My mum is nearly 80 and she loved it. Thank you.

No food these days, but good selection of bar snacks including XL Cheese and the pints of Loweswater Gold are perfect, Usually another real ale is available. Service excellent. Nice crowd, like when I last drank in here in 2010. Prices very reasonable. Will drink & bar snack here again.

Could kick myself for not going sooner. Booked short notice,No problem. Family lunch New Year’s Eve for 9 with one of our party in a wheelchair. On arrival the lady from the pub made us welcome , got the wheelchair ramp and helped get the Wheelchair in. Tables laid out for us all, very pleasant staff, drinks and food arrived in good time and in abundance. Black pudding tower for starter was delicious and the mains came out to wows and ooohhhss, large portions, delicious food, great variety on the menu. Hostess made a fuss of us and the dog. So thank you for lovely visit ,we are looking forward to seeing you in the New year.
