Ye Olde Vic in Stockport is an absolute delight! This traditional pub boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing evening with friends or a cozy pint after work. The decor is full of character, with plenty of charming details that give it a unique and welcoming vibe. The selection of local and national cask beers is impressive, featuring a range of options that are always perfectly kept. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to recommend something new to try. While they don’t serve food, you’re welcome to bring your own from local takeaways, making it easy to enjoy a meal alongside your drinks. This is a great way to make the most of your visit, as you can pair delicious food with fantastic beers. Overall, Ye Olde Vic is a top-notch spot in Stockport. With great drinks, a lovely atmosphere, and the flexibility to bring your own food, it's the perfect place to unwind.

This used to be such a lovely, friendly, welcoming pub that offered a great choice of real ales. Sadly no more. New, aggressive landlord and only half the pumps working. And the pub was virtually empty. Tells you all you need to know. Real shame.

Ye Olde Vic in Stockport is a fantastic traditional pub that every beer enthusiast should experience. Their selection of cask beers is excellent, with a great range to suit all tastes. The bar snacks, including pickled onions and pickled eggs, add to the charm, but what’s even better is that they allow you to bring your own food to enjoy with your drink! The cozy open fire, friendly locals, and welcoming atmosphere make it feel like a true home away from home. If you're after a warm, no-fuss pub experience, Ye Olde Vic is the perfect spot!

Great selection of beers (and crisps). One of my favourite pubs. Will definitely be back. Nice in winter when the fire’s going. Also good on match days - it’s a good spot for away fans that like their beer and very convenient for the station . Can always get served, even when it’s busy. The sign of a good pub.

Strangely closed looking pub near the train station with a couple of ales on and some good crisps (Inc lancashire sauce!) The beer we had was top quality and this place is well worth a visit for the ales and plane spotting

Food is a snack wall. New beers all the time and the list is constantly updated. Such a friendly place with wonderful people. No swearing allowed which is nice as it's a family (and pet) friendly pub. Massive range of gins and whiskies as well as a good choice of vodka and other spirits. Traditional setting which sadly is so lacking on these Lego brick pubs which keep popping up. They also have board games.

Saturday 27th July 2024 This is a great older fashioned real ale pub It's handy for Stockport Train Station. The pub has old-fashioned small rooms inside good barstaff and a lovely old bar. There was 3 hand pumped ales on today, and the pub was full of friendly locals

As I understand it, the pub is now under new management after having had a funny reputation with the old landlord — anyway, the place is very rundown, and quite smelly. Also the beer garden is just as bad. Hard to recommend the place to be honest… and whilst it’s better than it not being available at all, the Guinness was in a can. So again, nothing to recommend… unless you like pubs that look derelict

We had a couple of pints at the pub. Randomly the landlord (though we didn’t know it at the time) came over with a framed ‘no foul language’ sign - we questioned this and said we hadn’t known. He lost his temper and asked us to leave. We went to leave and the landlord grabbed our friend by the neck and pounded him on the chest saying ‘I’ll break your neck’. I asked that we can just leave as this was in the doorway and was told you’re leaving although I couldn’t leave as my friend was being assaulted in the doorway. Very strange encounter coming after sitting there for an hour, very out of the blue and very aggressive. Not a good look. Edit to respond: We did not threaten your staff, we were threatened and our friend was actually assaulted. If we understood your rules going in we would have respected them, don’t aggressively approach customers enjoying your pub after an hour of sitting as if we should have known. I’m also concerned we were approached by someone who wasn’t the landlord - maybe try to control your dad from assaulting customers as they leave.

My friends and I came to this pub and as we were sat in an area of the pub, we were approached by a man who accosted us about “foul language”. He was very agressive and abusive towards us, grabbing my partner by the neck and threatening him. He told my partner he would “break his neck”, after telling us that “swearing was the precursor to violence”. Before this, we’d been sat in a section of the pub talking amongst ourselves and doing nothing to bother the other patrons. It was truly bizarre, frightening and hostile. Had the landlord made it clear that there was an issue with swearing when we walked in the door, we would have adhered to this rule. I wouldn’t recommend this pub to anyone as it is not a safe space to be in for anyone. Edit: Extra pro tip: No one threatened the staff on the way out. We were shocked to be threatened in such a way by the staff in such an alarming fashion. Regardless, swearing does not warrant being choked or physically manhandled by anyone. This is assault as none of us ever laid a hand on any member of staff or clientele. I would like to reiterate that if there was a policy in this pub about swearing, it should be made clear on arrival, on the door of the pub and within the main areas of the pub. We would have happily complied with this directive if it was eminently clear. We recommend being transparent in your rules In order to avoid further issues.

Primarily a locals pub with a quirky interior and equally quirky welcome. Cask ale is to the fore with up to six real ales always on offer, plus a cider. Saved from extinction a few years ago by a buyout by local people interested in saving this gem for others to enjoy. Underwent a thorough refurbishment during the Covid 19 lockdown period to save the structure of the building and make it weather-tight. The interior was completely redecorated in a sympathetic style as well. On Stockport County match-days, it can get very busy. Recommended. Best real fire in Stockport, and possibly Manchester...

Almost a textbook definition of idiosyncratic, this is a simply marvellous pub. You can expect the beer offering (cask) to focus on the pale side of things and the condition of the beers is excellent. There is an abundance of little artefacts that help to make this place (by no means a big pub, yet no worse for that) unique and the bar is a classic of its type. It's also adjacent to Stockport station and the music selection will throw up a nice mixture of classic songs and a bit of cheese.

Friends wanted to meet here, so we did. To say the bar is work in progress is an understatement, things have obviously taken much longer than expected. All that said we were made to feel welcome, more importantly the ale was good and well presented, if you want posh this is not the place for you. But if you like old traditional pub, who are happy to do a lock in at the end of the night then give it a try.
