Yumee Chinese in Torridge

Unfortunately the taste and food quality has gone down hill. This used to be our favourite Chinese takeaway in Bideford. The chicken curry was watery and lemon flavoured with no mushrooms or peas just chicken and onion, it was just about edible but not a nice taste, the other dishes were satisfactory, overall its definitely not as tasty as it used to be. It was reasonably priced however but we will try elsewhere next time

Worse Chineese ever. Having lived in Bideford over 35 years, never tried them. My first try and absolutely rubbish. Peppery squid felt like supermarket bought bread crumbed squid dipped in oil, rubbery and tasteless. Duck was burned with lots of fat and hardly any meat. Curry's were very runy and taugh beef. Can go on.

Absolutely the BEST Hong Kong style sweet and sour chicken I have EVER had. The takeaway was very good and it was hot, tasty and quickly prepared while I waited. There was a mistake made to my order, which until I got back to our holiday accommodation I didn't know about. A quick call to them and the misunderstanding over the order was apologised for and I was given a credit for next time I go in, which will be later in the week during our holiday. We have been holidaying in this area for over 15 years and had always used another takeaway, I just wish I had found Yummee earlier because we have been missing out.

Missing an item in my order, initially argued that it was put in. So hung up on them only for them to ring me back and refund me for that item. Food was horrible dry had a funny taste won tons were soggy, will not be going back there again all I can say is don’t waste your money. Plus side delivery was quick.

We’ve used Yumee a number of times but not for awhile, we were a little apprehensive after some of the reviews but the food was tasty and the service was good. Will use them again , we did have to pay for a delivery charge but there were only 2 of us, finding a menu online was a little tricky, but we’ll pick one up next time we’re in Bideford.

After using Yumee for a long time food fine, tonight’s offering was rubbish, tasted just like microwave food, so dry and tasteless, don’t know if it was a one off or what

Popped in a couple of times now and each time the service has been very good, very fresh and tasty food - owner is very polite and always has a smile. I dont think you would be disappointed with giving it a try, What can I say.. great chicken curry. Lovely fresh cooked chips. The sweet and sour chicken was succulent and tasty.

Had a great takeaway last night visiting family. After a few bad experiences last year we came back to try it again and the standard has gone back to how we remember when it first opened. Fresh, hot and flavoursome. Friendly staff, happy to take your order.

This used to be such a good take away service and the food was delicate and fresh tasting. Recently the food has been tasteless, stodgy and bland. Yumee has never been a cheap option; in the past it was worth the money but not any more.

Terrible food. Left us all feeling sick. Chicken balls greasy, very little chicken and lots of thick greasy batter. Crispy duck under cooked and funny taste. Tried this place as closer to our house but will go back to our usual one

Very disappointing food I’m afraid… it was over cooked, dry meat… no flavour at all. Total waste of money. Plenty of better Chinese takeaways in Bideford.

Everything was over cooked. Peppery king prawns contained a tiny amount of what might have been prawn. I was expecting large succulent prawns in a light batter, I did not get anything remotely like it.. They were chewy not crisp. Awful. Spring rolls which should be light and crisp with a good meat and veg filling were almost empty thick pastry tubes that had been fried too long. Probably ready made frozen ones. The dog enjoyed them though. Noodles and bean sprouts tasted as though the bean sprouts were not fresh, perhaps cooked earlier or tinned. There was a very unpleasant aftertaste. Roast pork over cooked and pieces of pork were hard. Waste of money. Don’t bother.

First time of trying Yumee in Bideford despite living here since before it opened. Last night, we did try it, and wish we had not bothered ! - Bland, tasteless and expensive food. Chicken & Pineapple insipid looking and tasteless, spring rolls were empty tubes of burnt pastry, sweet and sour chicken balls were okay but the sauce was so thin, it was like putting water over the food. We also tried the ribs in sauce which had a predominant taste of vinegar ..... far better Chinese takeaways in the area and we wont be using Yumee again, ans it wasn't !

Have experienced a number of Yumee prepared Chinese meals now and will carry on experiencing a lot more in the future. Well prepared, great tasting, good portions, marvellous choice, all done in a courteous and friendly manner. And great value. Try....you will not be disappointed .

Tried Yumee takeaway for the first time last night. First class food delivered within half an hour. Very impressed I will be back soon.

We had a lovely chinese takeaway delivered to our lodge in Bulworthy Forest. Prompt friendly delivery, hot, tasty food, reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend. Thank you, we paid over the phone sorry we had no change or would of tipped too.

Very difficult to find really good quality Chinese food, so a real pleasure to find this place. Excellent food and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Tried this takeaway for the first time, and it will be our last. All the dishes we ordered were bland and not very tasty.

Use this Chinese takeaway at least once a month and are not disappointed with the taste, quantity and heat of the food. The service is always quick and we believe this is the best Chinese takeaway in the area.

Love Yummee. Staff are always a laugh and the food is fantastic. Not the cheapest Chinese in town but in our opinion it’s definitely the best.

The food from Yumee is consistently high quality. Always delivered hot and very generous portion sizes. The chicken Cantonese and crispy chilli beef are ridiculously good. Only Chinese food my kids will eat in this area.

truly the worst Chinese take away meal I have ever had very little meat and not fresh also not very hot , also ordered salt and pepper chips very little peppers or onion and also just warm and the spring rolls were very greasy , won't be going there again.

Proper Chinese food. The portions are fantastic and food is certainly yummy!! Would definitely come again.

wonderful take away, we were staying local and happened upon this very clean chinese. WE had spring rolls that were the best we have ever had, not greesy and very tasty. the ribs were lovely as was the beef spring onion and ginger. lovely and fresh, and no MSG.Chick balls were great.

Very impressed. Had duck in plum sauce, chicken in oyster sauce and king prawns with mushrooms with the obligatory egg fried rice. No MSG. Fresh peppers and vegetables rather than the usual water chestnuts and bean shoots. Easy to find and with parking outside the door.No hesitation in leaving a menu in our holiday let for future visitors.

I haven't been here for a couple of years and wo t be going back again .Not terrible but not very nice. Rice over cooked chicken ball soggy. A pritty poor take away.

Tried to go here on Wednesday and found it shut, unfortunately we went back the next day, we really shouldn’t have bothered.The place itself is spotless and the staff very nice and pleasant.The food itself was terrible, we ordered chicken curry, sesame chicken, chicken chow mein, rices and chips.I don’t know what cut of chicken was used in the sesame chicken, it reminded me more of squid, very rubbery. The chow mein had no taste to it at all and the curry was probably the worst I have ever attempted to eatWe ordered the meals to share, I had one piece of sesame chicken, one forkful of chow mein and a little more of the curry. when at home I normally finish off anything that’s left, not here, we threw half if it in the bin.Would never go back.

We love Chinese food, we have a favourite restaurant back home so it’s always risky trying a new one! Food wasn’t greasy, very tasty, cooked perfectly and delivered quickly! My only recommendation would be, if there’s 4 of you order two portions of prawn toast!

Had a take away. Delivered well before the advised time. Really hot and very tasty. Delightful. Lots of choice and not over priced. A really great meal.

Soup was really good, food was ok. Delivery was quick.. However having spent over £50 and not throwing in a bag of prawn crackers is a little tight. Everyone else seems to do this as a token of kind gesture, even if you spend as little as 10/15 quid..

Hi fancied a chinese very nice had a big order for 10 people didnt take to long to cook took it back to westward ho where we were staying the staff were very friendly def take away again when down there sweet sour chicken balls u get 10 we had rice seaweed prawn crackers

I have ordered from Yumee a few times now. The quality of the dishes is of very high standard. Delivery is quick and wait on busy nights isnt above expected.

Had a take away delivered and rather than the 1 hour quoted it arrived in 20 minutes. The food was all very hot and the best thing was it is not greasy like a lot of Chinese take aways we have had in the past. The special fried rice was packed with meat and was almost a meal in itself. We were not disappointed with any of the 4 main dishes we chose and would definitely use them again.

My husband and I had a takeaway this evening and most of it went in the bin.The ribs were very gristly and tasteless as were the pancake rolls.The rest of the meal was just not up to standard.Such a shame as we often have food from here but we have had our last.The staff are really good and obliging but the food yuk

I put my order in on a Saturday Evening at 18:00pm and they told me to expect delivery within one hour and I was surprised when my order came 20min later, the food was Fresh and Hot and very good 10/10 well done guy's I will be calling you again.

Good sized portions but not cheap. Singapore noodles inedible due to amount of salt in dish. Affected taste of other choices.

Siempre nos dan nuestra China desde aquí nos encanta pero en tres ocasiones recientemente hemos pedido comida vegetariana y hemos sido accidentalmente dado carne. Pedimos rollitos de primavera de verduras esta noche y nos dieron los seres de carne. Siendo vegetariana y luego nos dimos cuenta de lo que he pedido es la carne realmente te pone fuera el resto de su comida. No felices en todo!

La comida era deliciosa, muy bien preparado y muy sabrosa, y a un precio muy razonable. Debería haber preguntado si le entregará la próxima vez 😊

Have had takeaway from here several times now and it has always been really good. The food is well flavoured with a good choice of dishes and delivery was on time. Would definitely recommend.

Just tried Yumee for the 1st time, been living in ND for 20 years and it's the best takeaway we've had.... Fresh, clean, tasty... Stunning!!!

On holiday in Appledore, we found this gem online and they delivered within 15 minutes even though it's an 11 minute drive from where we are! Really great tasting food, would definitely order from there again. Well done! :D

They do tofu dishes!! I know not many people reading will understand the excitement but as a veggie this is very exciting and special to find, especially in North Devon! The food has always been fresh, its reasonably priced, flavoursome, great menu, friendly service and we have never had a mistake with our order.

Our first meal on arrival in the area, the food arrived on time, was tasty and plentiful. Not cheap, but representing fair value for the portions. Good, reliable take away / delivery food.

So glad to see this place open again after it was closed for renovations. Simply the best Chinese takeaway/delivery in Bideford. The only authentic prawn crackers I can find anywhere nearby (and I am a huge critic of modern-day prawn crackers in Chinese restaurants) with all their dishes just streets ahead of the local competition. Easy to park right outside and an efficient delivery service when you want it. Really missed this place for a few weeks, so hope it's not in need of further renovations any time soon.

Yumee is always number one on our list for a takeaway treat. We've had to cancel a restaurant tonight due to our guests' delays getting down here so it will be Yumee to the rescue when they finally arrive! Always piping hot excellent quality food, very quick service (we phone our order through), and friendly helpful staff in spotless premises. I really cannot recommend them highly enough.

We have had numerous takeaways from here now and the food is really good. It is very fresh and you will see no fat on your plate after eating it. Every dish is well cooked and exceptionally tasty. It is easy to park outside.

We were looking to go out, but all of our favourite places were booked. A friend had recommended this takeaway, I normally go elsewhere, so we thought we would give it a go. Easy to order, the takeaway was delivered quickly. The order was all correct which doesn't always happen (no free prawn crackers). The food was hot, and really tasty. We had a range of dishes, and they all tasted great. My step mum is sensitive to msg and didn't react which is a good sign, and there was no sign of a fluorescent orange sauce. There was fresh veg in every dish, and we really enjoyed the meal. Would definitely order here again

Had a great take away last night food absolutely delicious especially the king prawns. But a bit taken aback had to buy prawn crackers with quite a large order. Not a local so not sure if its common to all Chinese's in town. At home they're free if you spend over £20.

YUMEE....Trading Standards should be informed...., this was far from Yumee. The chicken looked like it had come from Iceland Frozen food

Yumee are by far the tastiest Chinese eatery around! Good price and not greasy! The service is excellent, always on time with deliveries, food always hot and delicious! Only thing that would improve it would be free prawn crackers if you spend over a certain amount! Now, I'm off to ring in an order!

Always great with easy parking and easily accessible in centre of Bideford. Nice modern premises with swift efficient service. Well worth a visit.

I was impressed by the fresh taste of the food. The flavours were distinctive. Ginger and Spring onion was tastier than I have ever tasted before. The place has a modern look about it. Although slightly off the beaten track it definitely is worth seeking out

Best Chinese takeaway we have had in Bideford. The name explains the food. The service was excellent from the phone call, explaining the dishes to the prompt timing. We arrived at the time they told us & it was ready with free Prawn crackers. Highly recommended.

Nice take away no msg used good flavours and nice portions I really love the squid they do here.its really handy to be able to pay by card over the phone,it was also very promt all in all a good take away

Yumee is now our regular Chinese Takeaway. The food is always lovely. Fast and cheerful service is guaranteed. The clue is in the name.

This was a excellent Chinese meal for a family of 5 & really good valve. We arrived in Bideford on holiday and after the long drive just wanted to have a night in. We ordered the meal to be delivered and within half hour it had arrived fresh a tasty. Would definitely recommend.

whilst on a weeks holiday found this great little chinese takeaway... tasty food all served from a modern setup with clear view into the kitchen ...a bit like a local wagamamas style takeaway. Was yumm -ee thanks!

We've had food from here three times since it opened and it's improved every time! The first time, the staff needed to lighten up, seriously needed to learn how to smile! The second time there was a slight delay with our food and it was ready but we were sat for 15 mins longer than necessary, which meant our food wasn't as hot as it could have been. However, the third time was a very smooth visit. No problems, smiley staff and hot freshly prepared food! Absolutely fabulous takeaway chinese!

We've had three takeaways from yumee since it opened. We have been impressed every time. Food really fresh and tasty. Always delivered within the time frame given. The only Chinese takeaway we will have now in Bideford.

Took an hour for them to prep my order [they are very busy] and a very popular take away [bear that in mind] at 8pm. The person who took my order on the phone was lovely & arranged for a dish not on the menu to be cooked for me. I was told it would be about an hour & I was totally happy. It arrived in 15 mins! Food was hot, cooked well & plenty of it!
